Erémia

My friend and I wandered into an Aesop boutique in L.A. where we met the loveliest sales associate -- who's also a writer of fantasy -- and she introduced us to the whole Aesop line of fragrances. While I found them all to be imaginative and interesting -- in the BEST way possible -- Eremia was the one where I had that amazing, very personal moment of recognition when something just SPEAKS to you. I smelled the crushed ivy stems and leaves, the sweetness of polleny grasses, the smell of rain on cement, and petrichor of damp soil; as Aesop's own writers put it, the scent of "a hazy, verdant place where the aroma of wood, waxy florals and moss mingles with weighty notes of pollen on the skin, all contrasted by the scent of concrete after the rain” -- truly. It's so fresh and strong, it was almost too much at first, but it dries down beautifully to this soft, green, powdery smell that lingers on skin and clothes. I rarely spend more than $50 on a perfume (I'm a collector and definitely enjoy my cheapies), but Eremia really captures the experience of this green semi-wilderness so beautifully that I immediately got a bottle. I think it's really interesting that some reviewers have noted almost a spiciness (cinnamon?) quality among all the green; I think I *almost* know what they're talking about ... it's so hard to describe! Someone even drew comparisons with both Oscar de la Renta Esprit d'Oscar and Guerlain L'Heure Bleue -- my FAVORITE scent for All Time. To my nose, it's a bit of a stretch, BUT, that being said, they all share a soft, green, powdery, somehow spicy quality (L'H B has incense, though). Seeing this comparison clarified why I love this scent so much. So, if you're a fan of either L'Heure Bleue or Esprit d'Oscar, you may very well love this one, too, even though it's not really the same. Incidentally, when I shared Eremia with some of my local perfume friends, one of them was IMMEDIATELY transported to LOVESVILLE, like I was, while the other three were like, "Yeah, it smells very good, but I'd enjoy it as a room spray or candle." This is such a fascinating hobby...!!!

Of the three new releases, this is my favorite. It's universally wearable, both seasonally and by gender. If I cannot decide what to spray before I rush out, this is an easy grab. I live in the PNW and this melds beautifully with the environment here. It's bright citruses, warmed up with dry woods. There's a suspended grassy note, that blooms with the florals into a soft radiant skin scent. It's perfect for an outdoor stroll, hitting the gym, going to catch a movie or hanging out a cafe reading a good book. I'd want my sheets and room to smell like this too. There's something about this scent that makes me feel nostalgic for outings in nature. It's an introspective mood. This would be great for people that need to be cautious of work fragrances being too strong. I really adore this perfume! There really isn't anything out there that smells like this. A total win.

I am quickly becoming obsessed with this scent for spring!! I have worn it every other day since I added it to my roster and I cannot get enough. It is so woody and iris-y to me, so clean and fresh. Longevity isn't amazing but it does linger for a few hours on me. It's stunning... and such a no-brainer everyday wear for when I want to smell pretty but don't want to overthink what angle of pretty I am trying for.

It's a spa in the middle of the jungle, very green, vegetal, refreshing, one of my favorite scents. Sadly it evaporates very quickly.

Eremia by Aesop is verdant, green, and begins with this flash of fresh citrus—a lively burst of limonene and citral that feels like lemon zested on new leaves. It immediately transports you to a forest, deep and secret, where the quintessential Aesop DNA is unmistakable: a core of rich, almost somnolent wood, like a darkened glen whispering old stories. Galbanum dominates here , heavy and unyielding, imparting a resinous, green bitterness. Think a raw, chlorophyll punch that makes you pause. It’s as if nature itself pressed its fingers into the composition, leaving behind the unmistakable mark of a wild, forested landscape. For me, it’s a bit too entrenched in its arboreal origins, an ode to the deep, untamed woods that some might find mesmerizing. Personally, a shade overwhelming. Still, I see the appeal: its intricate interplay between fresh citrus brightness and the deep, almost austere heart of green wood. It’s a scent that invites you to wander through its labyrinth of notes, a captured memory of forest trails and sunlit canopies. Not my perfect fit, but undeniably intriguing.

Aesop is consistently supreme when it comes to aromatics and “stony” earthy/mineral accords. And you get both at their best in Erémia. This is a verdant urban petrichor. It’s a fairly close match to Aesop’s Olous room spray, only minus the cedar. (Hot take: room spray is still perfume). On the Le Labo scale it’s drizzlier than The Matcha 26 but not as soggy as Baie 19. Unfortunately, longevity is fleeting. And so I continue to blast myself with room spray... Mental Snapshot: The saleswoman who first introduced me to this scent knocked it out of the park. “Imagine an abandoned city being consumed by nature.” I can’t imagine anything else after she described it. The city I get in Erémia is a stark concrete one – a brutalist industrial park that was never actually inhabited – as there’s no rust or grime to it. Instead, the forest takes residence, wild vegetal and stoic mineral melding in perfect harmony. tl;dr: The Last of Us (happy nature scenes only) 🏢🌿

Aesop Eremia (2021) - Galbanum Petrichor - #barnabefillion delivers wonderfully on a post-apocalyptic concept. Starts with green and cut-grass Galbanum mixed with Citruses, then I get the floral body that meet the foliage: powdery Iris and soft Mimosa mixed with Green Tea. This accord mellows out and refines the sharpness of the Galbanum, which is dominant across the entire fragrance. It’s backbone has this incense-like, Guaiacwood and Petrichor accord. Imagine a decaying concrete building with foliage and trees bursting out of the windows and wrapping around it - this is what It smells! I’m glad the perfume didn’t turn out strange and kooky but meditative.

A subtle yet lovely green floral fragrance. The sharp bright greens this opens with, reminiscent of fresh cut grass (but subtle, not pungent), combined with the underlying bright florals brings to mind a sunny day on an English garden on a country estate, the kind you see in ond regency-era films like The Secret Garden. Not quite the wasteland this scent is meant to evoke, though there is something “wild” in just how sharp its greens are. Recommended if you’d enjoy a bright delicate green and floral fragrance.

If you are in search of a delicate green scent that is safe and non offensive and cash is no issue then this is for you. It's pretty much tea and galbanum with light florals. As mentioned by other reviewers this is super soft and won't last more than 3 or 4 hours.

Looking at the notes I wouldn’t expect a forest floor vibe, there is a fresh green dampness made a little bitter from the galbanum. Dry down is light and citrusy. I like the opening but dries intimate and less interesting.

My date last night was wearing this and it was very clean and sexy but I did think he’d been mugged off a bit when I googled the price afterwards — Aesop is really out here robbing the men of East London blind

Smells like a very vegetal green stem, borders medicinal. Just not my jam. Possibly my least favorite outta the line and has terrible performance

Opens with a bit of citrus quickly followed by green notes of grass. Floral notes are present with a very light woody scent.

couldn't really pinpoint what notes I'm getting here. Erémia opens up with some piercing, bitter, yet faint citruses which dissipate within 30 seconds, following by some green, woody, and an almost-steamed-rice-like accord, which are probably the guaiac and mimosa as suggested by the list. It also reminds me of Rozu but having the rose taken away, a stage where the actors are absent. I wish I could get any iris or petrichor like the other reviews do. (review based on a full bottle purchased from the house)

I was really disappointed in this scent. It barely lasts past the first spray and what does last is so soft and barely reminiscent of what I experienced in the store. I had a lot of hopes for this perfume and had been saving for a while so when I bought it I was very excited to wear it, but from the first day I realised it just doesn't last on the skin. It smells completely different when its on the skin compared to the paper sample so please keep that in mind. I am about to take it back for a refund.

Quick citrus open then wildflowers and grass, petrichor. Stays there until it fades. Not a lot of staying power. Makes me think of driving along a state or county highway, turning off on a dirt road, getting out and walking across the ditch to smell the wildflowers and grasses by the side of a field. It rained yesterday but today it's sunny, lots of insects buzzing, getting pollen on my face and seeds on my shoes. My wife says it's ok, she says it smells a bit like violet candies.

I love love love the opening. I can confidently that this is the scent that started me down the journey. I interpret it as clean, green, and rainy. Unfortunately the performance is abysmal, to the point where I cannot even detect the dry down (scent disappears in less than an hour on my skin). If anyone knows a fragrance similar to that opening I would appreciate you sharing that information.

A non bell pepper galbanum and iris. Very easy and green but doesn’t last long at all

I tested a sample of this, so there is obviously some room for error here as the sample may have been off, but I just can't imagine wearing this as a perfume. It just smells like a musty pantry to me; one that is filled with herbs and spices that have been left out for too long and are now stale and dried out. That's all I get unfortunately.

ok scent but nothing creative or worth celebrating! it's similar to one of the scents Barnabe Fillion himself made for his own brand Arpa studio. Performance wise it’s more like a body mist because it lasts for like an hour on clothes and 30 min on skin. Aesop should probably be looking at reviews on Fragrantica for these 3 latest releases - they are embarrassing and nowhere near the standards of Marrakech, Hwyl, or Rozu

-I love this scent. -Eremia is reminiscent of pencil shavings, but somehow in spite of that it remains on the softer side. And doesn't veer into Comme des Garcons' avant garde territory. -Definitely more wearable than its older sister, Rozu. (+) *Update* I smelled this side by side with Aesop's Olous Aromatique Room Spray. -It's 80% similar, with the galbanum and grapefruit notes in common. -Of course, being an EDP Eremia probably will fare better in terms of longevity and projection. But if you're hesitant on splashing out for Eremia, you could always dip your toes in the kiddy pool with Olous. You're welcome. (+) *Caveat* -On blotter strips, Olous (room spray) outlasts Eremia (EDP) by 1-2days. -On clothing though, I find Olous a lot less wearable. It's too linear and doesn't project much. Personally unsure how Eremia wears on clothing/skin as I've never tested it. -I'd suggest perhaps obtaining a decant/sample vial of Eremia instead of blind-buying.

This is a gorgeous scent from Aesop, which begins with dewy and floral citrus notes then transitions into a dusty, earthy iris. It is elegant, fresh, fleeting, and a touch powdery. It evades any traces of sweetness by relying more on aromatic greenness, vegetal stemmy bunches of flowers, and cool and slightly damp smelling soil. I've come to learn that Aesop scents do not last very long for the most part, but Eremia is a complete and utter standout in their line.

Eremia opens with Aesop's typical burst of medicinal, almost sinus-clearing base. A lot of reviews call it "spicy", but to my nose it's almost camphorous or minty, though I can see how people would get cinnamon. Then it mellows into pure, bitter green. There's galbanum and tea and a hint of mimosa. I get maybe a hint of powder, but not much. It's an appealingly outdoorsy and atmospheric scent, both easy and interesting.

I smelled it in the Covent Garden store. It's nice but 50ml for £150!!!! You must be joking. Since when is Aesop more expensive than Tom Ford and Penhaligons. We are getting in the Roja territory in terms of price. I find the scent to be rather basic compared to earlier Aesop fragrances. Do yourself a favour and get some Miller Harris Lumiere Doree or Zara Vetiver Pamplamousse.

More of a floral green than a green floral. I find the iris note prominent, powdery, and verging on violet. It’s well blended with some warmer slightly spicy notes, potentially the guiac wood? I get a hint of sharper greenness if I inhale with nose pressed to my skin. Beautiful but not mind blowing. Generally too feminine for my tastes. I’d reach for it once in a blue moon.

i have mixed feelings on this one...i've tested it for a few days now and can say it's quite nice —a fresh spicy smell that reminds me of cinnamon. i'm not sure which notes created this olfactive accident, but it just reminds me of cinnamon gum. pleasant, but not something i necessarily want to smell like

i was very excited about this as I love iris Tested it this evening smells like Tiger Balm oint .........yes cinnamon.. most Aesop fragrance smell like herbal oint for headaches..or wintergreen oil so strange.... But I bought Rozu for the shiso leaf which i love... ..all overpriced..

soft and medicinal, a barely-gourmand take on iris. one steamy cup of their complementary licorice root tea, poured over a bed of crushed flower stems and pressed body powder. this is my favorite use of aēsop's usual suspect microtrend ingredients: like vapor on warm skin.

why has this been discontinued by aesop? anyone find out?? it's my favorite of their scents and i've absolutely hated all the ones made SINCE this one.

Fresh, unique, more unique than Xerjoff Mefisto, herbs are there. Realistic grass. Doesn't seem to last very long though.

Bitter and herbal blast of Vetiver and galbanum that lasts for all of 30 minutes maximum. It’s almost nice
