Rose Alcane

I’m terribly late for this perfume because I suspect Aether is getting harder to find, at least where I live. I just bought Rose Alcane because I found it at a good price and out of curiosity. And what a pleasent surprise. This would never be my first option for a perfume because I’m more of a classic type and now Rose Alcane has knocked me off my socks. I personally find this incredibly feminine even though is marked as unisex. Funny thing is, although is supposed to be a different type of rose, modern and metallic, I still find it romantic. It lasts long and behaves better than other fragrances I own. I’ll be cherishing this bottle.

First I hated it but now I love it! It is so versatile...or is it me? Dont blind buy it...or maybe just do it :)

I blind bought this because it was on sale and I love rose fragrances. The opening is a very strong litchi, green rose opening which I like. However, my partner smelled me and immediately stated "very metallic and synthetic" and not in a positive manner. There is a sharpness to the fragrance that one can be put off by but I do not mind it. I like my rose fragrances to be dark. Now, when to wear it when my partner is not around is a different story............

This rose does not smile sweetly - it bristles. Imagine forcing your way through a thicket of roses whose thorns bite at your skin. It is a carnal rose: leathery, metallic, and unapologetically raw - nothing dainty, nothing ethereal. Its mood shifts with the seasons: crisp and cutting in the cold, molten and sensual in the heat. This is not a rose for dreamers - it is a rose for baddies.

This is a really vegetable rose fragrance. That for me is nice and wearable during the Autumn. Moderate Sillage and Longevity. At the dry down it does become more metallic but still in warm cozy manner. A nice addition for rose lovers.

A green and fresh rose. My spring /summer fragrance.

Starts out incredible green, like Balenciaga B. I do NOT like Balenciaga B., so this was disappointing. But eventually those crispy green top notes dwindled down and the rose came through. Very clean and fresh smelling, but a bit too synthetic for me. Still, not the worst rose frag I've ever smelled. 5/10

Rose and metallic notes are strong in the beginning only: those neutral metallic notes that I already know from Methaldone, which is solely based on them. And by "neutral" I mean that they don't evoke any emotion or memory. Not even about some chemical products or anything, very strange. Warm metals with some acid grapefruit undertones. Anyway, this part is quite short-lived - 10 minutes later, the vegetation/greenness takes over, mixed with something creamy plus the same rose, but different. Quite nice. Unlike Bond's offering, it is this one that actually reminds me of the real High Line. At least my memory of it, which might be just the sum of many other New York daytime memories. Also: a brand new hotel lobby, a greenhouse, a florist shop, a molecular smoothie joint, a rose before its full bloom, closer to peony actually. Green and ultra-urban, but without the fumes. In other words: wait for the heart notes before you judge. This is the best part and I wish it had more projection. Drydown returns to the warm metal/sulphuric notes, the green part transformed into hints of angelica with more understandable tartness this time. At this stage I'm reminded of Nu_Be's Sulphur, if rose was added. As soon as it went on, I thought ‘Dom Rosa’ – eerily similar to DR, and whilst I already own DR, I don’t actually use it. It’s with my wife now as I’ve kinda moved on from it... A soft rose-geranium with a vague boozy element, backed by green-herbal elements. I don’t see myself taking this any further, or even trying it out again, but I can’t help but say it is really REALLY similar to the aforementioned scent – like, 95%+ similar...

this is strange: starts with a blast of grapefruit (nice enough) -- segues into rose and musk for a while (very nice) -- and ends (for many hours) as an exact dupe of the pain-medication lotion voltaren. took me a while to make the connection, but i did a side-by-side comparison: voltaren vs. dry-down of this. exact. and so: just no.

I don't get green nor do I get anything similar to rose. I'd describe the scent astringent, sour, medicinal, perhaps metallic. I doubt one can describe these molecular scents using real-life notes -- that's the whole point. Freedom from reality is a step to another stage of art.
