Modest Deux

Ok you definitely have to let this sit. I got this perfume almost 2 years ago. I had immediately used it and to my nose i didn’t like it because it smelled too much of patchouli, but at the same time i got so many compliments saying i smelled sexy. I didn’t get it but because of that i decided not to give it away and let it sit. Turns out i didn’t touch it till 2 years later, you definitely don’t need to let it sit that long but after revisiting it, my god this perfume is soo good. I’m pretty sure the notes on fragrantica are listed incorrectly, but at first spray it’s super fruity but not in a fresh sweet way, in a dark syrupy sweet way. So yummy! I don’t get much rose (basing this off the afnan listed notes) but rose does typically pull super green syrupy on me, probably explains why i smell that here without the green. I definitely get jasmine but it’s not in your face or too much of that dirty jasmine smell, patchouli has died down so much i barely smell it. I also get a slight soapy smell (if you guys have ever used lux soap the rose version it smells a little like that) After letting it sit on skin after 15 min If i close my eyes and just smell it, it smells like a bouquet of flowers that was dipped in a berry compote and you put it in a vase in your bathroom and you take a nice bath. I’m really enjoying this scent, i wouldnt use it during warmer weather but im looking forward when the temperature cools down, i wonder if what im smelling now is specific to the temperature here which is pretty warm right now, would love to do an update when it cools down and compare what i smell. Edit: i still want to note this fragrance is still very heavy and sweet, the soap smell i get is soooo slight but i enjoy it bc it kinda cuts the heavy syrup scent, i assume this is the white musk playing a role here

I have to agree with another review on this fragrance: there is nothing modest about it whatsoever! When I initially bought it, I didn’t think much of it upon first test and there it sat on my vanity through the hot summer months... I pulled it back out to try once more now that it’s cooling down where I live and holy sh*t, this definitely needed to marinate for me a little. Upon first spray it was a delicious chocolate-y berry concoction that immediately made me perk up and take note. On the dry down it, on me skin, it turns into a thick, mouth watering honey-like scent that had me sniffing my arm over and over, then settles into a similar gentle honeyed vanilla with a hint of incense that keeps it from being cloying, yet makes it sexy as hell. And that girl projects and leaves a trail. My husband did a double take looking for the source of it upon entering the living room. This is sexy, alluring, and in your face but in a way that says “move closer.” Definitely not one I’d wear to the office, and this coming from someone who has zero problems wearing perfumes to work that most people would call night/date/party scents. For me this is the one I’d keep for those special occasions, because the way it reacts on my skin is definitely not modest whatsoever. It’s also not one meant for hot weather, imho, as it can already be intense on its own and heat only strengthens perfumes. Heat may make it cloying, so preferable fall/winter. I would say for gourmand lovers and anyone whose skin chemistry plays nice with sweet scents, this may be a gigantic winner. It’s also so incredibly affordable, which is a huge win.

It gets frustrating when there is conflicting notes, most the time I trust the brand. This is twice I disagree and my nose agrees with fragrantica’s notes. I got this late August. We had a surprisingly early cooler night for football, so I wore it only a week after receiving. So, my husband has not been able to smell any of these fragrances I have bought this year bc of long covid. On the way to the game, he scared me to pieces when he excitedly burst out, “YOU SMELL LIKE CHOCOLATE”! I ask if he was sure, not cherry, all I could smell was red berries, heavy, sweet cherry. My daughter chimed in, yes Momma, you smell like chocolate cherries, it is strong, but smells really good. So are we all crazy? I am wearing for review today, scanning notes & reviews. I smell cherry & berries & chocolate. Then the vanilla mixes in with what smells like cinnamon, then quickly the patchouli mixed with gardenia. The florals are barely there, the patchouli owns the base. The musk is not heavy, it is all blended smoothly now. It is sultry sweet & spicy. This smells so good, it has gotten darker since I got it. I first thought I could wear on a Summer evening, no, not here in our humidity. I can do nights in early Autumn, then days until mid Spring. It really messed with my head last time this happened, but because my entourage smelled it too, I am more confident I smell cherry, chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla & patchouli. And I LUVVIT 20/10

I bought this in January as an early, fun, Valentines Day gift to myself! Lol. I had read nice reviews about it and I thought it would be perfect for the occasion! Modest Deux does not disappoint even a classic fragrance lover as myself. I’m inclined to and enjoy many Middle Eastern fragrance houses but I’m not exactly a gourmand lover as I find the sweet oppressive, but this lovely fragrance brought out the delicious notes but left the killer sugar notes in the kitchen! Thank heavens! It’s a lovely Raspberry-Strawberry jammy forward scent with soft decadent cherry in the background. Dark chocolate and vanilla play beautifully in and through the berries adding a lovely layer of richness. Patchouli and musk are oh so lovely grounding the fragrance with their subtle nuances and making all of the notes sync perfectly with each other. A brilliant piece of fragrance art that stays with me longer now than last month and has come into itself since resting for a few weeks! It’s cheerful, bright and sensual. I would wear it anytime except on hot stifling humid days of summer. Would make a safe appreciated gift. 🎁 Addendum: I need to point out this fragrances only downfall is its sharply pointed cap. Take care when taking it off and putting it back on the beautiful bottle. You could unintentionally hurt your self. 😉🌹

Warning:this has to warm up on your skin& im glad i waited 3days after my bottle was shipped,so it could settle perfume,because the first day i tried this&sprayed on my skin it only smelled of a weird floral,3 days later an hour after being on my skin it started as a floral fresh gourmand&then changed into strawberry 🍓 chocolate floral&while staying fresh,then into a sweet berry chocolate&not overly sweet,its unique,im glad i didnt write this off&gave it a few more tries on my skin different days&times,its more nostalgic to me in a happy way,like im at a picnic at a park,sunshine strawberry fresh flowers&chocolate blended smoothly,it just has to warm up on skin this perfume,at least on me,this goes away&comes back as skin warms up,ill try this in hotter weather to see if it changes,for now in my opinion this is a casual cute happy scent for me,lasts over 8hrs on me,good blind buy. Unique&different for an affordable scent🌷🍓🍫so cute&feminine lasts on skin~update March 2023~now that weather has warmed up this is so much better in the spring it's mainly tart strawberry cherry dark rich berry&chocolate now,in the best sexy bouncy juicy fruity Feminine dark&lovely forest fruit way♡fresh dark juicy tartness with chocolate love it,not too sweet just perfect now,totally a L♡VE,wow!

To my very sensitive nose the initial impression is a dark, victorian, dusty rose with a hint of rosey musk. there's spiciness but the warm spic is more like... when you're sniffing a fragrance, flower, ect too closely and it stings but in this perfume it's not sharp string and it goes away Then, it's like a dark chocolate bar with a raspberry, cherry filling in the middle, and the bar is wrapped in a good layer of dark red rose petals instead of a plastic wrap. TO BE CLEAR THOUGH: I don't think there's actually any cocoa in this, but the way that the rose blends, the white musk and all of that - it gives my nose the impression of chocolate, if you just smell this without trying to smell it deeply, most people will just assume it's chocolate. I don't like how cherries taste but this smells soooo good that i want to eat it. It's not overly sweet smelling either, it's mature. If you've tried Al rehab Rose Oud, it smells like that but wayyyy better and no there's no oud in either. I liked Rose oud but it smelled cheap, didn't last and isn't as in depth as this, this smells truly expensive. For me, it's more noticeable and stays longer if sprayed on clothes. About 3 decent hours on my skin, unless i become nose blind- and 8+ hours on my clothes.

If you’re considering getting this, do it! I can’t speak on its similarity to La Nuit Tresor, but I was very surprised by the quality of this fragrance along with great performance. I’ll say, the first spritz is a bit rough. The cherry and strawberry smell a bit synthetic (I have a sensitive nose though, so you may not feel the same!) with a strong alcohol tagging along, but it goes away quickly as the spices and vanilla emerge. Once again it takes a quick turn as the chocolate creeps in along with the patchouli and musk, really deepening and softening the edges of the fragrance. After about 30 minutes I’m not really detecting anything synthetic. I’m left with a sweet tray of delicious and rich chocolate covered strawberries and cherries. They’re sprinkled with a mixture of spiced vanilla, patchouli, and musk to really elevate this to a womanly scent. The longer it sits, the more sensual and inviting the scent becomes. On behalf of the performance, I say be careful not to spray too much! It has great sillage and has yet to become a skin scent after 7 hours. I’ll update how long it lasts on my skin. Update: still love this perfume but it may have caused a large rash on my chest. Will test and update.

This is absolutely a sleeper. It’s so beautiful and belongs in a class way above its price tag. It’s sweet from the berries, but not at all juvenile or cloying. The chocolate gives it some warmth and softness, tempering the sweetness from the berries. It has a slight powdery quality, but it’s not dusty. Looking at just the chocolate note, it has a bit of similarity to Choco Musk. These two could easily be layered to amplify that, if that’s your jam. This lasts FOREVER on clothing and will easily last an entire day on skin. I don’t find that this projects so much that it would be intrusive to others. So, it can be worn and enjoyed in any setting. For all of the above reasons, I believe this will work in all seasons (it’s winter here now). I’m looking forward to wearing this in warmer weather as well. This is one of my best blind buys to date - hands down. If you’re thinking about this one, take the plunge. It’s $25 well spent. Oh yeah, the bottle is way more beautiful in person as well.

I’m completely obsessed with this one. It’s rich, seductive, and undeniably luxurious. The scent gives rose wrapped in chocolate-dipped strawberries and cherries, sultry, powdery musk with a soft touch of patchouli. It smells expensive in the best way, like confidence and money. Absolutely stunning, elegant, and irresistibly delicious. Such a beautiful fragrance for winter and special occasions. It is easily one of my favorites. It's more of a mature fragrance. Think grown and seductive not playful or flirty. I would not call this office-safe. “Modest” here means refined class and elegance, but boasts bold self-confidence and sophisticated allure. It reminds me of Tresor Midnight Rose Elixir D’Orient, Trésor Midnight Rose, and La Nuit Trésor. There is absolutely nothing modest about Modest Deux. Firstly, the red wine coloured bottle with a little gem on the cap is absolutely gorgeous, and the way it is packaged in a coffret that lists the scent pyramid is so luxe. The fruit notes are so yummy; the top notes are delectable, feminine and sweet. The chocolate is rich, the strawberry is juicy, the cherries are jammy and ripe, and the raspberry is bright and crisp. As Deux melts into my skin and plays with my chemistry, the middle and bottom notes shine. The vanilla, spice and patchouli add an incense-like taste to the mix while still feeling fresh and young. The gardenia is not very noticeable on me and the musk is very soft which suits this scent perfectly. Modest Deux is like a simple-syrup version of La Nuit Trésor, a boozy and intoxicating gourmand that is sexy and fun. This was an excellent buy and a great value for the price.

Modest Deux smells like the color of its bottle. It's deep but not literally dark. For the most part, it smells like the combination of chocolate and berries in syrup form. It's sweet but not sticky. It's delicious but not exactly as a gourmand. This is better used at nighttime and dressed up. This will not scream for attention as it does not project well but your partner may no longer let you go after smelling you during the cuddles. The only downsides are the drydown and the longevity. When nearing the end of its wear, all the delicious stuff fades and it ends up smelling musky. I wish it was linear. As for longevity, this may last up to 5 hours approximately even if I doused myself in it. I love this perfume. But I haven't worn it that much because I don't have the right occasion to match it with, for now.

This fragrance NEEDS TO MACERATE! I don't know how to make that any more clear. Most Middle Eastern fragrances need to macerate. Anyway, I got my second bottle of this fragrance about a month ago. Initial spray smelled nothing like my first bottle....straight alcohol. Hmm, I wonder why...I sprayed about ten sprays and let it sit in my closet for the last month. And voila! Like magic, my Modest Deux now smells incredible....just like my previous bottle. No more alcohol smell. No more jumbled, indistinguishable notes. Just pure bliss. Cherry and chocolate and patchouli, oh my! BTW, this is meant to be a dupe of the original pre-reformulation La Nuit Tresor, not the current formulation. That's why it might smell different to you if you've only smelled the latest rendition. Hope this helps!

A Jammy Patchouli... This is a dupe of La Nuit Trésor Lancôme with good approximation and a twist. Opens with a trio of berries (strawberry, cherry, raspberry) and a dark chocolate slowly emerges, while patchouli is already swelling through. As it transitions to the heart, the berries turn jammy, and there's an effect similar to a jammy, spicy rose (although rose isn't listed). The longer it dries down, the more a golden vanilla comes out. Overall I get a yummy, berry-jammy chocolate-patchouli scent that dries down with increasing vanilla. This has a more obvious cherry note than La Nuit Trésor, while La Nuit Trésor has a more forward rose & caramel. Performance is excellent for year round wear. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

For those who want to feel more mature, but still smell delicious. This is a very good quality dessert. The chocolate is dark and creamy, no powdery cocoa or milk. The fruits are actually red fruit liqueur, the good one, with no sharp alcoholic notes. It's more fruity in the opening, I also get some nuts (maybe from the cherry note?), and in the drydown it's more vanilla/chocolate. For me it's perfect, I bought a full bottle before even finishing the decant. If you like this scent profile, but it's not available or you have a smaller budget (although this one is very reasonably priced), Taste of Kiss by La Rive is pretty much the same thing, just a bit lighter, less deep and overall less everything.

This is definitely more feminine but I can pull is it as a guy (you have to be a confident though of how you will smell). It is very well blended, the initial cherry and strawberry sweetness lingers for about 2 hours, some chocolate, which later turns into more calm but still sweeter scent. Lasts fairly long on a skin, projects quite well for 3-4 hrs, you can get whiffs of that gorgeous cherry/strawberry/raspberry chocolate and vanilla. For the price of ca.35usd (100ml) this is a very good purchase if you like sweet, refined and not sickling sweet frags (like Stronger With You and the lot). Fall to Spring smell, on a summer day it is becoming to cloying. I love it. Ladies love it. A win-win :)

a very nice chocolate and cherry scent, the dark chocolate isnt sweet, but its recognizeable as chocolate, and the same goes for cherry. The cherry is really good, it doesnt smell like wine, like for other perfumes (like cherry baby). I love how you can make out the chocolate, cherry and raspberry immediatly. It gives off a seductive- maybe even playful vibe. I basically only used this in winter, but i couldnt even finish it half way, since it only needs a couple of sprays, since the longevity and siliage are very good. Id advise to be careful how much you spray, because this might cause headaches if too much is sprayed. Overall DEFINITELY a winter fragrance.

Listen.... this fragrance is something enchanting. It's mysterious, warm, sexy, feminine, confident, flirty but not offensive - all at the same time! For someone who loves such perfumes, I don't see anything wrong with wearing it to the office (being maybe a bit more moderate with the sprays). I've sprayed this perfume on my wrist at 10pm, and I woke up a couple of times at night being like "wooooah, I smell amazing". I could still smell it faintly on my wrist the next day. It's just beautiful, and for the price you can't go wrong with it. Just make sure you like this type of fragrances before blind buying it. I will be buying more bottle of this juice! :D

Push your nose into a bowl of fresh raspberries and you have modest deux. Well I'm oversimplifying a complex and perfectly balanced beast. It's cherries and strawberries too, ie. Tart and sweet either side of the raspberries. Slight sweet creamy chocolate come into play in dry down but berries are still there. This is a gentle gourmand, but the raspberries kept it from being too sweet at any point. I can't smell base notes, or at least I couldn't identify them, they are well blended to balance this fragrance so it's mature and wearable. Whatever genius nosed this into creation is my new hero! TLDR: Berries, creamy chocolate, gentle gourmand.

This is an amazing, sweet, dark, feminine perfume. But you HAVE to let it macerate! I just got a new bottle and it was made a couple years ago, according to the batch date. I sprayed it and liked the top notes but the dry down wasn’t it and was quite masculine and not at all what I thought this would smell like. I disliked it a lot. But I sprayed a few more and let it sit for some time to macerate. I came back and sprayed it even just a few days later and it smelled soooo much better!! It only took less than a week for it to change into a whole different and better smelling perfume!!

This is very similar to Armaf Signature True but much better!! I did not love the Armaf because it has a synthetic note that I just couldn't deal with. Modest Deaux however, has a much better quality. It is also sweeter and not screechy compared to the Armaf. On initial spray, I get Red berries, a prominent patchouli like the one in (Armani SI)and vanilla in the background. The vanilla becomes more prominent and the chocolate emerges as it dries down. I will be letting this fragrance sit for a month and come back to confirm if anything changes but this is a love for me regardless.
