Mystique Bouquet

Let me preface this by saying I've only smelled Valaya on a test strip, so my comparison is limited! This is a difficult perfume to describe, I've gotta admit. After 4 months of maturation, everything has blended together so seamlessly that few individual notes stand out. The opening is bright and airy, with a fresh burst of citrus. It's not a cleaning product scent, thankfully! I get a hint of mandarin most, and maybe bergamot, while the peach isn't juicy or syrupy. It's very subtle. After the first few mins, it quickly settles into a soft floral bouquet. Orange blossom is usually a note I hate (it turns soapy on my skin!), but here it's blended so well that I barely notice it. If anything, the peony stands out most, adding an airy sweetness. The citrus takes a backseat and melds into the florals. This perfume is very musky, but uses a clean musk rather than an animalic musk. It keeps the citrus and florals grounded. You'll definitely need to enjoy musks to appreciate this one! There's also a subtle earthy quality in the background, perhaps from the vetiver or oakmoss? It's not damp or overly green, so don't be afraid! I don't get any vanilla, it must be hiding from my nose. This smells fresh, but not in a clean laundry way. It reminds me more of stepping outside into crisp, new air! Like the breeze on a spring morning. I think this works year round both day and night, it's so versatile. I can imagine it as a beautiful wedding day fragrance, honestly. It lasts well on my skin and projects nicely, without overwhelming anyone nearby! Comparing it to Valaya, I found Valaya a little more sparkling, perhaps due to the aldehydes... while Mystique Bouquet is definitely more fruity floral. I also prefer it to another dupe, Delilah Blanc. DB feels slightly closer to Valaya BUT it's quite flat to me, like a drink that has lost it's fizz... whereas MB has way more sparkle and floral lift to keep the musks tamed and balanced.

I love this fragrance. It smells so clean and delightful. In the beginning, I get all of the citrus fruits, followed by the litchi. As the litchi fades, I begin to smell the florals, but the orange blossom stands out the most. As the litchi and orange blossom fade, I start to smell a slight hint of peach; the peach is not loud nor synthetic. It settles into a cozy base where I smell ambroxan, musk, vanilla, and oak moss. It's wonderful! I have Valaya, and it does smell similar. There are small differences, but the average person would not notice, and the sillage smells the same. The only thing that could be improved is if they had deodorant and body cream or butter to match. I did see a reply that stated this fragrance needs to sit before use, and the person is somewhat correct, but that is the case with most Middle Eastern fragrances, except for the more expensive ones. Impressions like these typically require maturation time because they are created so quickly, and the high demand means the house cannot allow for maturation time prior to shipping. If you don't like the fragrance at first, allow it to sit for 1-3 months before discarding it. This applies to any fragrance that has been shipped to you, tbh. When fragrances are shipped, the juice is consistently being shaken, which causes the molecules to present differently after you receive it. Allow it to sit, and the fragrance will smell as it is intended to smell. I loved Valaya out of the box, and I love Mystique Bouquet out of the box. I've been allowing the fragrance to sit, and I love it more now than I did when I got it.

Just received MB, clearly I had to spray it on tissue first. I know it has not matured yet but even now it is clearly a very close sister to Valaya (and up in the air prob not many can make a difference). After a few days, I did a side by side on my wrists. The method is not scientific yet as MB has not matured and it's sprayed while Valaya is a dabber sample from retailer. Nonetheless, even at this stage it's 90%+ similarity. MB feels a bit more floral/citrussy initially, and Valaya more contrasty between peach and 'detergent' notes :) . An hour later, I get a bit less of a difference but Valaya seems more intense on my wrist (but then could be due to the higher concentration due to the dabber). I might just try and see in a month, and apply the two in the same way (both sprayer or dabber). For now, I cannot justify the mark-up price on Valaya. 1m maturation update: MB has grown closer to Valaya. Curiously, the dipstick sample I have from Valaya managed to fill my wardrobe and it entices me much more, on skin these two are very close though.

The perfume's box and overall presentation are gorgeous. I adore the bottle, it's so pretty! And Afnan "Mystique Bouquet" positively resonates with me. I am truly starting to love the fragrance, I am! There's a caveat...I LOVE this perfume WHEN I get wafts of its bright citrus, gorgeous florals (mostly peony) and mossy amber. My complaint is that on my skin, the florals are extremely muted & weak. In fairness, the entire perfume is anemic and muted on skin. Most social media reviews cite this perfume's performance as stellar. Sadly that is not my experience with Mystique Bouquet. Within minutes of application, I cannot smell this perfume and no one around me can smell it either. The white florals are somewhat more evident with time (several weeks). And the base notes are gorgeous, as they perfectly balance and anchor the fragrance. But for me, I struggle to detect this fragrance within 10-15 minutes after application. I love this perfume's notes and fragrance. Hopefully with the passage of time, the perfume's performance will improve.

Just beautiful. I delayed getting this one because there was just too much hype. But sometimes something is hyped for a good reason. I have to wonder what Valaya smells like if this smells this good. I definitely get why this reminds some of Versace Dylan purple. Someone else also mentioned to me that they get a Dylan Purple vibe from this perfume though they are not identical smells. It smells like the juice of a freshly peeled litchi at room temperature, slightly tangy and musky. The sillage is incredible but not overpowering. This can be a signature scent because it's got an easy reach vibe about it. But I do agree to some extent with a commenter below who said it smells a bit old school. There is a vibe of fruity floral designer perfumes I used to smell on my mother in the late 90s, early 2000s. But it's not at all bothersome, I think it could be appealing to someone mature. And I can see this working for any occasion. You also need not over spray this one.

An absolutely lovely, feminine, and soft fragrance. It has just the right touch of freshness, and on my skin it leans more floral than fruity—though the bottle is still new, so I’m curious to see how it evolves over time. To me, it’s not screechy at all, which makes it very pleasant and easy to wear. I’m not entirely sure how well it projects or how long it actually lasts, as I tend to go nose blind to it after a while. However, when I visited a friend and sat a couple of meters away from her, she immediately told me I smelled heavenly. By then, it had already been several hours since I applied the perfume, so clearly others can still pick it up even when I no longer can. I find this scent absolutely delightful, and I’ll definitely be reaching for it often throughout the spring and the upcoming summer. It’s a perfect choice for daytime wear and would work especially well for office environments, thanks to its softness and non-intrusive character.

Today’s task: try Valaya and MB side by side to to figure out that 90-95% similarity between the two. My personal opinion: they are about 80% similar at best. Valaya is much more woody to my nose, so much so that it reminds me of something that I particularly liked in Terre by Hermes: may be the Vetiver that is stronger here. This makes Valaya to me personally unisex fragrance. Now MB does have the same woody base but it’s much more toned down, it’s more fruity and floral and thus more feminine leaning. A gentleman commented earlier that you cannot dupe Valaya: sure you can! 😅 but I have a feeling Afnan didn’t intend that. I think they made MB with Fleur Narcotique in mind somehow hence the name. So as a woman I do prefer MB to Valaya EVEN if they had the same price mind you which they don’t. There isn’t a day I walk out wearing MB that I don’t get a compliment. So I hope this will be around longer cause it’s always going to be in my collection 😁

As many people have mentioned below~ don’t judge the perfume on the first day you get it. It will smell terrible. Keep it in your cupboard for a month and then smell it. It’s a lovely fragrance. To me it it’s smells like freesia and gardenias even though not listed and like fresh laundry. It settles very airily. It’s not a intense concentrated scent. There is this woody element to it which is very common in Middle Eastern fragrances. Over all it’s a great summer floral, powdery musky scent and great for office wear. I recommend buying it if you love the smell freesia and gardenia flowers~ you will love this, if you don’t like the scent of these flowers ~ don’t buy it. You will hate it. I think it’s more of a scent preferred by mature women, thought honestly anyone can wear it. I see that a lot of people have voted it as a strong peach fragrance ~ I don’t smell any peach!!!

Easy blind buy. Haven’t smelled Valaya and don’t care to. Anything charging £200 in a cost of living crisis can go eff. I know this is odd because it’s not a dupe for it, but it has a faint hint of Gucci Rush. I don’t know if it’s the peach or the vetiver but there is something in it that’s giving me these vibes. Except it’s airier and lighter and fresher and sweeter (less dark) than Gucci Rush. It’s also giving me BR vibes. It’s so nice. I can smell it all around me and I wish they’d not got limited stock (it was hard to find my bottle for a decent price!) because I want to keep buying this. I know it’s a summer scent but in all honesty, it could work in autumn too! Update: Yeah, this is my second favourite fragrance of all time. It’s so close to taking the number one spot but at the moment I’m faithful to my Omnia Crystalline.

So, here’s what I get - a clean peach with some orange blossom, a slight amber brightness, and musk. The soft peachy top has well-balanced sweet and tart notes, flowing beautifully into a clean powdery musk. The reason I love this is because the clean musk reins in the zesty summer notes with delicate restraint, and you still can’t really wrap your head around how strong this is until 3 hours later when someone compliments you. And yes, you will catch whiffs of yourself wearing this thru the day. I have never smelled Valaya, but this decant convinced me to get the full bottle. Strong performance after a maturation time of about a month, but it’s worth the wait. I feel like coming back here and rating it a love every time I wear it. lol. Pro tip: I lightly spray my clothes with BBW Lost in Santal to smell like a meadow. 😄

This is a good fragrance from Afnan, a bright & fruity fragrance heavily inspired by PDM Valaya (though not as refined, powerful or complex). It's a linear scent, & its drydown smells almost alot like Valaya to me (like 75%). Myster Bouquet is more tart & the peach, lychee notes shine more. I don't reach for my Valaya decant as much now that I have this. Longevity is turrible for me (lasts only 4 hours), inferior to Valaya's beast mode staying power & projection. If you want an exact 1:1 Valaya dupe, this won't quench your thirst...but you can see it as a peachy, less refined yet still beautiful, younger sister to Valaya. I'm be putting my bottle inside my wardrobe for at least a few week & see if the scent evolves.

I haven’t smelled Valaya but this easily became my favorite perfume this summer. I tried a sample first and also ordered one of Delilah blanc since reviews stated they were exactly the same and Delilah is more affordable. Scent wise they are exactly the same, but Afnan performed incredibly better on me. This scent is just gorgeous, it opens really fresh, with a citrusy peach, then develops into a soft floral musky perfume elevated by some moss and ambroxan. The ambroxan here isn’t strong at all, barely noticeable as is the vetiver. It’s so well done, smells clean, fresh and feminine. It’s not overpowering, but it’s not shy either. I don’t think it’s a safe blind buy though, I would recommend getting a sample first

The scent is absolutely lovely. Being a gourmand girly, I found my collection lacking in something lighter and airier for the hot summer days and the gym. I had a decant of Levant by Ormonde Jayne which I loved, but the projection and longevity were abysmal. For the price tag it was a big disappointment so I decided against buying a full bottle. I heard that Mystique Bouquet was in a similar vain to Levant and Valaya from Parfums de Marly and decided to blind buy. I am over the moon. Mystique Bouquet surpasses both of these niche perfumes in projection and longevity and at the price point I would venture to say in quality too. Update: I’ve recently had the opportunity to test Valaya and it is very similar 👍🏻

Mystique Bouquet is feminine, elegant, and clean without smelling soapy or overly powdery. The opening is bright and fresh with juicy peach, citrus, and lychee and transitions quickly into a beautiful blend of soft florals and airy musk. Nothing feels too sweet, too floral, or too heavy. Performance is excellent on my skin with impressive longevity and a noticeable scent trail that earns compliments without being overpowering. As the fragrance settles, it becomes even smoother and more addictive, making me want to keep smelling it throughout the day. If you enjoy soft, clean, feminine fragrances with a modern musky floral character, this is a great choice. It has become one of my absolute favorites.

So nice! Lovely perfume, long lasting, beautiful bottle! I sprayed this one in one hand and Valaya on another and initially it's very hard to notice the difference. This one definitely has a little of the Fleur narcotique- bubble gummy that I absolutely love (not childish or sweet), it a discreet hint of fruitness just balances the smell very well. It's is definitely on my top favourite perfumes! It's a scent profile that is office friendly, and so versatile! I love perfumes but I am always concerned that I am overs praying and bothering the next person. I love the clean girl feeling, elegant, put together that this one brings. Longevity is very good. Good job Afnan!

This is my baby girl. I can confidently say this is the first fragrance I've bought in this scent profile. I haven't smelled Valaya yet, but I love blind buying and being surprised, and wow... this did not disappoint. Mystique Bouquet is THAT GIRL! It smells like you just got out of the shower in a luxury hotel. It's beautiful, effortless, clean, feminine, with little touches of florals here and there that make it feel so elegant without trying too hard. The longevity is amazing. I get around 8 hours on my skin, and even longer on my clothes. I've also been complimented multiple times while wearing it, which doesn't happen often with my other fragrances.

For people reviewing this straight from the mail, this one needs to be sprayed out and sat in the dark for 3-4 weeks before using otherwise you are not getting the full scent. This was my very first ME purchase and I didn't know that some of these frags need to take a time out after their journey, I was so disappointed, smelled nothing like what she was supposedly duping and smelled more like scummy pond water. Luckily, I did put her away and when I went back she had evolved into this lovely, peachy, fresh fragrance that is one of my favorites, especially in summer. Office and hospital safe, not loud or offensive, lasts all day, tons of compliments.

OMG I just tried this for the first time after i initially bought it, sprayed it 10 times and left it to macerate in my cool dark cupboard for 2 months. WOW this is a BOMB of a fragrance. I mean a BOMB. I've oversprayed it and I'm chocking myself and my husband out. Jesus, it's intensified incredibly since that initial oxygenating spray! It's also improved the scent a hundred fold since that first spray too. It was a light fruity floral musk scent at first...now it's a BEAST MODE fruity floral musky fragrance. Wow, this is gorgeous! So happy this finally arrived in Australia when it did. Just in time for summer.

This smells a lot like Valaya, especially on the dry down. However, the opening smells much more fruity to me. Like someone added orange juice concentrate to Valaya. Don't get me wrong, I really like it, but it does differ from Valaya in that regard. It's a lovely floral musky scent with a lot of fruitiness in the opening. Very easy to wear and has great longevity. Far longer for me than Valaya. It also has a stronger sillage for me then Valaya. Until I can afford Valaya, this is a wonderful alternative. Not an exact match but definitely the same vibe.

This one needs time. Out of the box it was mostly a heavy clean musk with a touch of lychee; I wasn't impressed and put this one on the shelf for a year. I decided to try it out again yesterday and the transformation was incredible. The heavy musk was cleaner and a bit less in your face. The white peach note is finally noticeable, and a main player in the top and middle. Very nice and clean, but it is still powerful, so it's clean, but a heavy clean. Hard to wash off, as I can still smell it the next day after a shower.
