Patchouli On Fire

Simple! Clean, and aromatic. It opens with a citrusy freshness and dries down to a soapy finish, with woody notes present throughout. Smells great, lasts at least 7 hours easily, with good projection. Very versatile, ideal for daily wear, especially during the day. It’s not the dark, earthy, camphorous, or chocolatey type of patchouli many people look for. Instead, it’s bright, herbal, and fresh, with a strong presence through the dry-down. Reminiscent of classic men’s fougères from the ’70s and ’80s, featuring prominent lavender. A delicious scent, perfect for a blind buy. It’s not what I was looking for or expecting, but it doesn’t disappoint. If what you're looking for is a dupe or alternative to Patchouli Intense, this is not it. Patchouli Intense is more floral, and its patchouli is the complete opposite of the one in Patchouli on Fire. The former is darker and earthier, while the latter is fresher and greener. They also don't resemble each other in the accords that accompany the fragrance. Patchouli on Fire is an aromatic ode, while Patchouli Intense is more floral and somewhat more feminine, in my opinion. They do resemble each other somewhat in the citrus notes and the expression of the woods and lavander, but overall, they offer very different olfactory experiences. Patchouli on Fire has a fresher, more herbal character, while Patchouli Intense leans toward a deeper, more floral profile. The woods in Patchouli on Fire feel lighter and more aromatic, while in Patchouli Intense, they are richer and more complex. I consider both fragrances excellent, but each has its own character and purpose. Patchouli on Fire is perfect for those seeking something fresh, aromatic, and versatile for the day, while Patchouli Intense is ideal for those who prefer a deeper, floral, and sophisticated fragrance, great for special occasions or for those who enjoy a more lasting olfactory presence.

Intense patchouli-forward fougere is what I get from this perfume; opens peppery and a touch bitter, gets more floral and powdery as it warms up on the skin, and more spicy as it settles. Projects very strongly off my skin, I was told I left quite the trail and I can smell it wafting in the air around me. Cool/cold weather only, I wouldn't want to wear this in the summer because it would be too stifling. Definite love.

Oh my god this is GORGEOUS. A floral, spicy patch. The lavender gives a slight powdery vibe. This leans masculine but is totally wearable (in cool weather) for a woman. There is no geranium note listed but it's definitely in there. If you're a patch ho like me, get your nose on this...you will fall in love! Edit: Ok the more I wore this, the more manly it smelled 😂 A bit too masculine for me...may have to go to eBay

Nose Note #917 Hard to review this one. I may add to the review the more I wear this. To start off, this has an old school vibe. Definately not a hit and will never become a hit. I heard that in the perfume business the word "patchouli" in the name of the fragrance is almost definately going to kill the sales. Apparently people don't like this note. And it's understandable. Patchouli can be very different, but it's mostly not something particularly beautiful or elegant. It's usually damp or chocolatey, earthy, mossy. This one is just what you expect from a patchouli fragrance. This is earthy and mossy and soapy in the old school way. Not ALL the way, but it's out there. Not hugely soapy, it's mostly mossy. Sort of like Yatagan or Lalique pour Homme of many others but with volume turned down. Or else imagine Aventus, but with no birch, no fruity notes, no smoke, just the slight patchouli/moss undertones that it has. Now solo that and amplify it - you get Patchouli on Fire. It's an alright scent. If it was a niche brand like ELDO or Histoires de Parfums - this would definately have more attention. Just wrong audience. For men only. Longevity - above average, nothing crazy. Moderate sillage. This is not a performer. 7/10, for what it's offering - it's absolutely great. I personally am not a big fan. I think you have to market this clearly. Otherwise most people will misunderstand what this perfume is about

Bought this based on online reviews. After smelling it was disappointed. This is a feminine leaning fragrance for going out to dinner, lunch, event, working a white collar job, etc. It reminded of something my mom would wear when I was a kid before she went out with my dad on a date to the symphony. Sweet, Earthy, a tad spicy in a feminine manner. Gives off an aura of some class and seriousness that a woman in her 30's+ would have. Definitely not sexy though as it is cloying up close. Definitely not for a masculine man and am disappointed in the Eastern reviewers who heralded this as a good men's fragrance.

Listen. I love patchouli. LOVE IT. I buy patchouli essential oil by the half-litre and diffuse it. I spray Reminiscence Patchouli on my pillow at night. I have tons of fragrances featuring patchouli – all facets, all types. Chocolate. Skanky. Aromatic. Earthy. Nutty. Vanilla. Fruity. Oudy. Woody. I also love men's fragrances. Lavender herbal aromatic ones especially. Big bold spices. I am not a delicate sugar floral kind of gal. I will always give something many, many tries over the course of months. I can make almost anything work with layering. I still have perfumery supplies and tons of essential oils and raw accords from a previous career so if worse comes to worst, I can change it up. I am also used to smelling intense versions of aromachemicals. I am confident I can meet all fragrance challenges. This might be the first one that does me in. When it arrived: This has a lot of box. Some may love a magnificent presentation and fancy magnetic cap; personally, I find it a little... compensatory. First impressions: Opening is strong aromatic, like *atomic* barbershop potent. This is my first Afnan so maybe this is what Afnan does, like Armaf. I'm used to Armaf being a little screechy before it settles down. But no. The whole opening reminds me of sharp chemical pine air freshener. Pure camphene or thymol, full strength. I suddenly understand the difference between “opaque” and “transparent” when applied to fragrance. Maybe these are the opaque layers that you have to wait out before you get to the good stuff? But this is so strong and opaque that not only would it cover up body odour, it would cover up a decaying corpse body odour. OMG. It's getting stronger! There’s no goodness here. It is growing in bitterness and evil. Must scrub. *runs screaming to the tap* Rinsed-off residue settles into a seething anisic coldness with a tiny hint of tobacco. I guess that’s the patchouli? No patchouli I have ever tried smells this... bitter. Even Angel was skanky but still fascinating in an animalic way. Damn it. I swear I will find my way through this. Further impressions, over the course of a week: Tiny squirt on a paper strip and exiled it to the corner of the room. I can smell it from four feet away. It is an aromatic seether. Four days later, it is still there, sharp and bitter. My fellow patchouli lovers: this is not patchouli. This is not Patchouli On Fire, either, unless they mean patchouli torched under a pile of chemical pitch. No, this is something else entirely in terms of sharpness. I can get a tiny bit of oud-skank after four days on a paper strip but no patchouli. But two dudes on two videos praised it to bits so it must be me. I've tried layering a light spray on skin that was smeared with a glossy layer of aged patchouli oil. This mellows it out a little. Next, I am going to try decanting some and mixing it with real patchouli oil but TBH, maybe I'd rather just have the real patchouli oil? Do I want to waste patchouli oil? Anyway. I am not giving up. I will update this after some time and seasons have passed. I managed to enjoy A*Men but it took about a year. I have time. I just can't leave the house wearing it or anything. Update, 2 weeks from very first impressions: Okay, my nose has adjusted and the intensely aromatic aspects have become more subdued. It’s still sharp but not as sharp as my impressions above, and the patchouli I smell might be that faint note of bitter coffee. Unless it is my actual coffee. I am so bewildered. Final Update, years later: I tried. It just never worked. I ended up taking it to a clothing swap event to give away a couple years later and I had to chuckle at the reactions of the people who would curiously sniff the nozzle. It was the same reaction my cat has when she smells sulfur-8 cream: curiosity, shocked horror, scowling betrayal, immediate self-soothing. So it's not just me.

It's like you enter a Body Shop store with all the lush smell you can find and its wraps in a powdery aroma in the dry down. Its like JPG Ultra Male goes floral,soapy,earthy with smell of patchouli and lavender. It's a unique smell and you will smell like a girls magnet. Unisex indeed and not even masculine nor feminine. The powdery lavender notes ticks back and forward between feminine where the earthy notes slaps back the fragrance to masculine.

Bought this one based on brother Nixon's review, who is usually bang on with his reviews. BUT, he got this one wrong imo. Tgis is nowhere near as strong as Patchouli intense. Almost a waatered down slightly sweetened versiin. On its own, its quite different to anything middle eastern brands put out so its worth a try. But if u like patchouli intense, this WILL NOT be an alternative

Doesn’t smell like patchouli intense enough to be considered a clone, it’s almost as if the notes were reversed in terms of being apparent. This one has a more warm spicy patchouli with more smokiness with a more noticeable rose than patchouli intense. But the geranium isn’t nearly as prominent, which is one of the main things that make it not smell very similar

As a lover of Patchouli fragrances, this remains another target for me! All I'm hoping is its performance on me and the wearability (as I'll love to be rocking this for office). I just ordered this and Tobacco Rush following the compelling review of SmellyCat (via YT)! IG: @mr_cornells

After checking out the notes this also looks like it would be close to Patchouli Elixir Reminiscence? Only the first two notes are switched and Patchouli Elixir Reminiscence has a powdery note whereas this one lavender?

@KiKi 1972 i am really not very well versed on notes. But definitely try this one as well as Patchouli intense by Nicolai.

@Morgoth01 Patchouli on Fire is $40 for 100ml. Adeeb is $22 for 80ml. Not that big of a difference.
