Pure Musk

you just got out of the shower, put on your white robe that has been washed with baby fabric softener and laundry detergent, put on a thick layer of a musk scented lotion, powdered your body with italian body powder, and put a bit of an arab musk tahara perfume oil on your pulse points - this is what pure musk smells like. it smells so smooth, fluffy, airy and gently soapy - literally like baby laundry detergent and a body cream. the scent is not sharp at all, but so comforting to smell. this is what a cloud smells like to me. to my nose, the scent is just a tiny bit floral but still a heavy fresh musk bomb. it's not sharp or strong when you get hit by a waft of this fragrance. however, if you're expecting an "actual freshly washed clothes", laundry detergent, cotton ball, and cleaning supplies type of scent, then this is not what your looking for. it is still worth the 20 bucks, if not less because you literally can't go wrong with a fragrance like this, which could be anyone's signature scent. it's definitely a feminine leaning fragrance but totally unisex - anyone can wear it anytime. the perfume is definitely office and school friendly, and also suitable for the gym or literally any occasion and season. the fragrance develops from a kinda floral and fresh musk to a creamy and smoooooth clean, airy, creamy and fresher musk - just your skin but better. not to sound crazy or anything, but i believe this fragrance seriously will smell like your skin - even when you are dirty, sweaty and haven't washed yourself, because i did notice that the perfume turned into something earthy and kinda dirty on unwashed and dry skin after 4-5 hours. it enhances your own actual smell, but this earthy, mossy smell dissapeared after hitting hour 6. the longevity of this fragrance is absolutely INSANE. i sprayed the perfume on my left hand without any moisturizer and the right hand with a lotion. after 12 hours, the fragrance is still detectable on my left hand (even after washing it!!) but it will probably fade away after 14-16 hours on dry skin. but on my right hand - oh boy it's LASTSSSS!!! after 12 hours and washing my hand, the fragrance is as strong like when i applied it. on moisturized skin, i bet it can last until the next shower and still be noticable. and this baby doesn't project too much but other people will smell it on you from around 5 meters maximum. pure musk projects and wafts so nicely in the air without causing a headache or discomfort. i won't get over this fragrance for a while - i'm OBSESSEDDD. :)

I need to let this settle for a bit, as it sat in a postal locker all day and is warm, but first impressions are really good. I was shocked at how nice the packaging was! I know it doesn't matter as far as quality is concerned, but I paid so little for a full bottle, and it came in a luxurious box and a bottle much nicer in person than is pictured. I know this is going to be a favorite. I'm already considering using it to help with the projection and longevity with my far more pricey, niche musk fragrances. EDIT 8/26/23 - Allowing this to sit has done wonders. It really is a gorgeous musk - not entirely clean, but not terribly dirty either. It is powdery for certain, and the florals add a little sweetness and femininity to a perfectly unisex scent. My skin does not do well with musk. I'm not sure if it's skin chemistry of an anosmia to particular types of musk, but this one lasts with decent sillage and longevity. It stands out from other musk dominant fragrances I own because of this, even though there are a few, Luten's Claire de Musc and Chanel's 1957 come to mind, that are more beautiful but vanish in record time. This works well on it's own, and I imagine it would be great to layer with any number of scents, though I rarely, if ever, do so. If you have a lover of musk in your social or family circle, this would be a great gift due to the scent as well as to the beautiful packaging. I'm quite pleased, especially for the price!

very very much like musk mood lattafa, but that's fine by me because MM is one of my faves and I'm almost through my current bottle. Afnan is maybe less complex, but it's actually even cleaner and more bright than MM. Airy and fresh on top and soapy and fatty-creamy underneath, like fresh sheets that have been airing and drying on the line. there's a little floral powder but it's not specific, lily and jasmine i think, but in like clean ghostly soap foam form. It lacks the vanilla-wax sweetness of the Lattafa Musk which i miss, though the Afnan Musk does also sweeten up a little on drydown. The Afnan Musk also lacks the scratchy woody/grassy note from the base of the Lattafa, which i'm glad to do without. You very much don't need both (though i probably will keep both on hand because i'm obsessed with this type of scent lol), but I'm glad I got the Afnan, and if you're deciding between the two I'd go with the Afnan because it feels more modern and even more clean and fresh. Also the Afnan sprayer and cap fit is better than the Lattafa ribbon bottle so it's a more polished hand feel. There's an aspect to the drydown of this that is so nostalgic to me, like a slightly sweet laundry detergent we used to use when I was a kid, or an ironing spray or something. Clean and warm and cozy!

At the beginning, this comes off as a non descript semi sweet, clean musk. It must be the florals..but guys, this is a unique clean, it's not like cleaning supplies or fresh laundry/linen. It's powdery, fuzzy, almost too strong (which I like) and it puts me in a nest of comfort. It smells like ... a pristine, white unicorn. And I love smelling that way!! There's no animalic notes in this, but musk can be that way sometimes, you know? I've had other musk, but this is the best one?? I love musky, powdery scents. The longevity is about 4 hours on skin but 8 hours on clothes. The packaging is superb too. I can't believe I only paid 29$ for this. The bottle is very nice, it feels premium and more expensive than what it is. Officially my clean girl scent so I can be the cleanest bitch everywhere at all times.

i am commenting again because i NEED to describe the vibe of this fragrance. this is exactly what 'the truman show' would smell like. the mega mansion in 'ex machina', the capitol in 'the hunger games', the entire movie 'her', utopia in 'the giver' would all smell like this. it's the type of clean soapy smell that you get from hours and hours of cleaning non stop. it erases all malodors allowing you to exist in your own cocoon of purity while the world burns all around you. this fragrance stays close but does not underperform. it's haunting and beautiful and clingy and heartbreaking but it's also linear and never changes. it ask you not to change either because everything is so perfect and yes there's a lot of pain in the world but it's not in this room. i am obsessed!!!!!!!!!!!

Dove soap vibes. Very powdery clean. The opening is kind of chemically, but the dry down smells nice. Like when it rubs off on something (like a shirt or a pillow) and you smell it later. Pretty safe blind buy for either a man or a woman, although it does lean more feminine imo. Probably too simple or boring for some of yall. But sometimes that’s just what I need. And I have to comment on the presentation. I think the bottle is very chic. Elegant. Good quality. EDIT: three months later. I’m warming up to this perfume. Decided today that I NEEDED to smell like this. This dna has been on my mind since I got this perfume. It’s really very lovely. Very warm and comforting. For when you just want a break from VANILLA lol.

this is a fresh soapy soap scent. it does kind of smell like dove bar soap but also like the base scent of every gel wash to ever exist BUT also not basic cause it has this really interesting mineral metallic note that makes it unique. as someone who loves smelling clean i rate this a 10/10. if you're looking for a unisex, year round, clean, office safe, daily scent that's strange enough to feel unique get this. p.s. this isn't a dupe for pure musc from narciso rodriguez, that ones more powdery floral whereas this is metallic soapy

Brutal. Lo compré a ciegas y cuando lo probé la primera vez pensé que me había equivocado. De primera huele literalmente a detergente para ropa en polvo, un olor bastante químico y fuerte. Pero tras el secado deja espacio al olor a limpio por excelencia. En general todos los perfumes que he probado de esta tipología no duran nada pero eso aguanta muchas horas. Nada que ver con otros que en apariencia podrían parecer similares (ej el de alyssia Ashley). Si te gustan los olores a limpio, puedes comprarlo a ciegas y te gustará 100%

This was a blind buy and I love it! It smells like baby powder. The longevity, sillage and projection are crazy. If you want to smell like powder, this is it. This is not a safe blind buy though. Some of my friends did not like it and said that it smells like an old person (their perfumes are freshies and gourmand). My other friends loved it and said it smells like a baby (their perfumes are freshies and powdery). I personally love powdery scents and this has become one of my favorites.

Smells like those Warm Cotton or Clean Linen candles. Like a fresh out of the dryer t shirt. Laundry musky clean scent with a tiny touch of a floral accord. Extremely pleasant, for days or occasions you don’t want to smell like vanilla or citrus but want to smell pleasant and clean and slightly floral. Any occasion or time but won’t stand out. You’ll smell like a heavy dose of Gain laundry detergent.

Florals where? Very straightforward soap smell to me. I agree with previous comments that it is linear and smells like dryer sheets. Similar to Dove soap, but not identical. Edit: Updated August 2025, nine months after wear. I did not sing its praises enough. It is a reliable, cozy, year-round scent that really shines in Spring and Summer. My daughter loves to wear it before bed.

Afnan never disappoints...(unlike Lattafa 🤭)...anyway this is the best musk perfume I've ever come across...it's a clean fresh right out of the shower aesthetic where the dove soap still lingers on your skin...it's amazing out of the box I can only imagine how much better it will be in a few months. Obsessed.

Terrible opening (smells like hospital cleaner), but quickly goes into the "Dove soapy" smell. Really comfortable and easy after shower wear before going to bed. The Pro Tip is: perfect for layering with other fragrances. I think this is the big reason to have it in your collection.

Freshly showered with a dove soap bar, then put on a clean white cotton t shirt; Is what this scent evokes when I smell it. Im happy with this addition as I was looking for something neutral, clean, comforting, and even nostalgic. This one will be my bedtime/ comfort scent.

As what almost everyone is saying, this fragrance does smell like pure soap. And for a pure clean musk scent, it's quite strong and long lasting. If you want a solid, linear, clean/musk/soap through and through scent, this is what you would want.

Luxurious, smells quite expensive, very clean and it's one of the best musks I've ever smelled. There's something that reminds me of opening a new box of cigars. Just amazing!

It does smell like Dove, blind bought it.. though it gonna have heavy dose of musk. But it just soapy and clean, musk is whispering on the background.

Literally the ultimate clean girl perfume

I got my sample from MISTY MOUNTAIN DECANTS. Absolutely photorealistic scent of a Dove bar of soap. Shockingly surprised at how absolutely accurate this smells of that. I lived in Manila Philippines in 2011 and that's when I first used Dove soap and never used it since. The moment I smelled this it brought back a very strong scent memory reflex to that time. That's how accurate this is to Dove soap. For a moment it kind of smelled like the floral aspects were coming through but then as it settle down it became more unisex to the exact same profile of Dove soap which in my opinion is just fresh and clean. I think this is a great party trick of a fragrance to be honest with you. If you just want to actually give off the impression that you're a clean individual I would say spray this twice on clothing and you will smell fresh and clean as you wander about your way doing errands or daily life. Honestly if you want your bed sheets to smell clean or good (be very careful on the trigger) but you could spray it once or twice. This is for someone who wants to give off the impression that they're clean and honestly that they've actually used Dove soap. There's really not much more to it than that. Try it for yourself.

If you want to smell like you're shouting that you just got out of the shower and put on freshly washed clothes, look no further. I would describe it as soapy-powdery, like you've overdone it with the fabric softener, super clean and a little synthetic. It is my first Arab perfume and I have heard that they tend to develop over time so I hope that my bottle gets that extra musky depth I was expecting. Oh, and it laaasts. When I received it I sprayed on my arm, just to test and then I took a looong shower, wore another perfume and the next day I could still smell it on me. Overall, great value for money, pretty straightforward, STUNNING packaging and I believe it will layer beautifully with other fragrances and body lotions, great as a gift, very easy to wear. Edit: I am so sorry but I have to retract previous review. They say that Arabic fragrances improve over time but this keeps getting worse and worse. Uninteresting and not good smelling nor bad smelling. It is definitely there, it does give a clean sensation, I've been trying to like it but I don't...

I blind bought this because i loved the musk therapy/Blanch DNA and .. although it's there but this is just a bit too soapy for me unfortunately .. don't get me wrong .. i'll wear it .. after all it's quite cheap and performs well but i can't for the life of me shake off that bathroom vibe! .. and not in a good way either .. but in the back lingers the good feeling i get with musk therapy or blanche .. it's trying to combat the soap .. but it's 50/50 .. it neither loses nor wins .. and that bothers me a bit .. and maybe im just disappointed a little but i'll gibe it a full wear to see where i stand because .. i need this to work.

I bought this bcz I didn't have a clear image of what musk smells like. And apparently it smells like dove shampoo. This is VERY strong, I would be careful not to spray too close to the skin, the first time I sprayed it I got really overwhelmed by the smell and had to wash it off. I sprayed it once in my chest and about 30-1h later the lunch lady at my uni could smell it from beyond the catering isle and asked who's wearing that nice fragrance. Also it is a smell I've smelled similar scents a lot on my grandma and her friends so I'm not sure if it's something you wanna wear if you're young.

It has a somewhat murky, vague smell. It would have been better if it had a slightly sharper scent, like citrus or cedar, or if it had aldehydes. Maybe a little maceration would make it a little better? I left it for about 10 days. The scent has become stronger and lasts longer. It still has the same clean scent. I'm a woman, but I think it would suit men better. Of course, women can use it too. I put some clothes with this scent in a corner of a room of about 40 tatami mats, and the scent reached the next room. It became a very strong scent. Amazing!

This perfume is incredible for the price, is super long lasting and has good sillage. It really does last all day, I spray it in the morning and when I get to bed I can still smell it. It smells like soap, smells very clean but not fresh, on my skin it leans more creamy. I'm not the biggest fan of the floral notes at the top, they give a little bit old lady bar soap. Once the floral notes go away it gets creamy and musky. The fragrance is nothing special but it's perfect for everyday wear, but still it's a very strong fragrance, it won't go unnoticed

After reading all the reviews here, I can only agree with one review that says it smells like clean metallic soap. I just sprayed it out of the box, so I may need to let it macerate more, but it is already a beast mode musk. It does not smell like Dove soap or baby powder, nor does it smell like laundry detergent or dryer sheets to me. I like it, though, but not a love. I will be wearing this mostly as a gym scent. It is very unisex. Also, I do not smell any flowers yet. We will see after maceration. This is a very clean metallic scent.

if you had a fabric softener named "white musk" this is how it would smell. nothing natural about this bad boy. i love soapy/laundry detergent scents so this is right up my alley but i did hold off buying it for a long time because i was scared it would be super powdery (think teint de neige/junoon) so if that's a concern of yours, you're good. performance wise, it's mid but i'll check back in a few months. my main complaint is that the atomizer is trash but i'm not sure if that's just my bottle.

Beautiful aromatic musk. Very clean and soapy (Dove soap - like, not the 80s grandma soap). I sprayed my arn with this and didn't smell anything when I put my nose directly to the spot. But I kept smelling wafts of it sitting in my chair anytime I moved my arm just a little. It is potent (I believe,) but it seems that one gets noseblind with this quickly. Anyway, it's a very minimalistic and simple scent, but I have to say it smells absolutely gorgeous.

Classic Dove or Neutro Roberts body wash. Very soapy, very clean. I don't think it's too powdery, most musk fragrances I tried are very babypowdery, especially in the opening. This doesn't, to me at least. It's a nice perfume, smells cozy, reassuring, but do not expect people asking what you are wearing or being particularly attracted to it, you are just going to smell like you just stepped out of the shower, which is obviously NOT a bad thing.

You have to be a fan of powdery musk to like this scent. Very reminiscent of dove/ white soap. The initial spray is a straight-up assault to my nose, but thankfully it settles down. I only wear this at home after a shower because it makes me feel super clean. I never wear this out on it own. I layer it with other floral scents, it adds a super creamy powdery depth. I like it, I probably will never repurchase it though.

Smells almost like nothing, with a hint of musk. I believe it has some kind of molecule similar to ambroxan or cetalox since I've been getting compliments that I smell good. It's a good perfume for someone who wants to smell good but doesn't want to smell the perfume they're wearing. It's very similar to Not A Perfume by JHAG. They both almost have no smell, but leave a trail that smells good to other people.

Honestly one of the cleanest scents I've ever smelled. It really smells like clean clothes. I completely understand the Dove comparison. The bottle is stunning and the atomizer is nice, but the metal part on the top and left part of the bottle is a real fingerprint magnet and a bit difficult to wash off, so be cautious with that. Really enjoyable, nothing too crazy but it does the job just fine!

this smells like a laundry detergent, but in a good way. it is unisex, but slightly more masculine. a very simple, straightforward and strong clean scent. i treat it like a base. i spray my clothes with it to refresh them like i just washed them. i spray some on my body after taking a shower and i keep feeling fresh and pure for good 6-8 hours after that.

Blind bought this because of the comparisons to “Dove Soap” which is my comfort smell, lol. Whilst it’s not identical to Dove, there’s a similarity and for the price point, I am definitely not complaining. I was looking for a laundry/clean smell, this gives lotion, creamy, comforting and slightly sweet aka it’s a win.

I love this more on my clothes tbh than my skin. It's very sharp when you first spray it, but that dry down hours later is so nice!! Very clean, smells like the remnants of laundry. lasts way longer on clothes. I sprayed this on my hoodie last night around 2 am and it's still strong at almost 7pm this evening.

Nothing that is going to turn heads or make people ask what you’re wearing, but it’s not offensive and can be worn in almost any occasion. Low price which is always great to see. If you’re looking for something very inexpensive, not offensive and pleasant, this is a great option.

The name says it all, this is musk all the way. Very clean/powdery, musky scent with minor florals in the background. Easy to wear, all day fragrance. In my opinion this is more woman oriented. Longevity and projection are really good. Great buy for the price.

I just put yesterday's T-shirt in the laundry. It was still on there and going strong. That's 30+ hours. Don't believe what anyone says about the performance. They need to spray more.

I think this smells similar to Jovan Musk (for women) but it's a bit softer and more floral. Definitely an inoffensive scent for someone looking for a basic musk, mild projecting.

On dry down it smells like Dove soap bar...but without that freshness...it doesn't have aldehydes

The idea of a pure musk sounded good, and it was only $20. The reviews are right on, initially it's dove soap. Nothing but dove soap. Not like you took a shower using Dove soap, more like you put a Dove soap scented lotion on, if one even exists. Then in a couple hours, it's nothing but white flower, If I had to guess, it would be the same orange blossom in the latest Supremacy Collector's Edition. Maybe with other white flower scents, but it's orange blossom dominant to me anyway. It's also a female scent to me. I see people saying it's unisex, leans female, leans male. No, it's female. Dove is a female soap, and Dove smells like it smells for that reason. It's a miss for me to use, I will try it in the dryer a single spray in the empty dryer before drying clothes. It may be ok for that. Because I did a single spray upon opening this up from the mail, and four hours later, I was wanting to wash it off. I have to add the presentation is over the top for a $20 product. I give it that. The orange blossom or whatever this white floral is, is near atomic in longevity. At least to me it is. What I never really got from it was a musk base, but I took a shower at six hours in and could still faintly smell the orange blossom and white flower note afterward.

This has now macerated a bit. It is a very clean and powdery scent. The longevity and projection is super, especially considering the pricepoint. It's very unisex and I think anyone could wear it. It's very inoffensive, however, maybe a bit boring? It doesn't really evolve into anything, if maybe a tad bit more powdery? It's not for me, but the quality is nice, so if you like to smell like a powdery soap - then I would definately recommend it. Personally I spray it around the house.

When people said it smelled like dove body wash I figured there would be some resemblance, BUT NOT LIKE THIS. This smells like I just dowsed myself in dove. I suppose it’s fine, It’s not unenjoyable. I guess it depends on wether or not you like the smell of dove and other musky soaps? Great longevity and sillage. Hmm... yeah this one is gonna take some getting used to for me.

This was a blind buy for me and unfortunately not a successful one. Yes, this smells very clean and soapy. There is a powdery feeling about the perfume but what ruins it for me is the florals. This leans way too feminine for my nose. Smells chalky due to the florals too. I would have probably loved this if it was plain musk, or something close to Narciso Rodriguez Pure Musc.
