Turathi Brown

So, off top, I've never smelled Tuxedo from YSL that this is cloning, so just going off my experience verses comparing this directly to anything. I had to let this fragrance sit awhile, like several months before all the notes came forward. It felt like the fragrance was done after the top notes had expired. After maceration, the main notes I got was a prominent patchouli, balsams, some woods, a warm amber, and vanilla. This group of notes play off each other extremely well. The patchouli is chocolate cakey and it sets off a wonderful chain of accords until the far drydown. That patchouli blends so well with the woods, amber, and vanilla. The balsams is what held this scent back before maceration because it was a tad bit too dominant. So, maybe the patchouli rounding out is what tamed those balsams? I'm not sure what's creating this powdery feel in the mid to the drydown, but that was also a pleasant surprise after maceration. So, all in all, I get a equal parts patchouli and balsams in the immediate top. As it dries to the mid, the patch becomes more chocolatey, creating this semi gourmand feel (my favorite scent DNA) as it blends with this warm amber, slight woods, dusting of rose, and vanilla. This is where the fragrance shines the best to my nose. From the mid to the base, the woods get stronger, along with the vanilla and amber. The projection is very good. I got about 2 hours projection when I wore this. Silage is good at about an arms length or just beyond that. Longevity has been between 8-9 hours; that's a full workday for me. As I mentioned earlier, my preferred scent DNA is gourmands, along with darker sophisticated, unique blues, and etc. This scent hits the spot like a bullseye in a darts tournament. I didn't expect this fragrance to be as good as it is after my first impressions. Far exceeded my expectations. I was looking into Rochas Moustache, but I'm more than satisfied with what Turathi Brown delivers. Highly recommend, but be patient if it doesn't smell up to snuff on the first impression. I let my bottle sit for about 2 months. I got my bottle for about $40+ USD. Projection: 8 Silage: 8 Longevity: 9 Scent: 9 Price: 9 Overall: 8.6

This stuff is amazing. But it comes with a major caveat to my nose. The first few hours are not that great, and I mean hours......then it comes into its own. I don't want to wait up to 4 hours to get to the end game, particularly for a cheapy. It's really good on the long dry down but if you want to get that Tuxedo scent, you'll get a very good high % of it but if you're going out at 8pm, you'd need to have a shower at 4pm and spray the hell out of it and you'd be fantastic when you're at the event. But to me, it just takes too long getting there. I'm still going to wear it but it's just something that could have been but you may have already left the event! And for the ones that need instant gratification in the scent format, it's not for you. Update 8th April - it's still much the same but I will let it sit for a few more weeks as with all my Middle eastern fragrances, they get better with time. It's in the cupboard for now.... Update 23rd April - the drydown is much quicker now, around an hour. I sprayed this on one arm and Arabiyat Nayel Oud on the other and after 2 hours they are very much indistinguishable from each other and up there as the best clones I have of Tuxedo.

I purchased Afnan Turathi Brown a few months ago based on my wonderful experience with Turathi Blue. I've worn it many times now since winter has reared it's cold, icy head. Turathi Brown is a luscious and intoxicatingly beautiful experience from the smooth opening to the warmer dry-down. I adore this fragrance. I'm an older gentleman who prefers masculine scents that aren't overly sweet, unlike the really sweet unisex frags enjoyed by younger men. Although it is definitely sweet, and near my sweetness threshold, it isn't cloyingly so. The performance is moderate and it is inexpensive enough to re-spray as necessary without hesitation. I like Turathi Brown SO MUCH that I'm going to get another couple bottles and hold them in reserve... just in case. I'm hooked. I own neither of the OGs that inspired Turathi Brown (YSL Tuxedo) or Turathi Blue (Bvlgari Tygar) , so I can't speak to the accuracy of either of these gems. I highly recommend this one!

Great, affordable and pleasant scent. I have never tried tuxedo. I get a ton of patchouli and amber in the opening, the amber stays throughout the duration of the drydown while the patchouli fades away. I don't get any clear vanilla, instead powdery woody notes in the middle and base. Longevity isnt bad, it projects for about 4 hours, then slowly fades into a skin scent. It's almost completely gone 9 hours after application. This is not for the younger, but rather older men in cardigans or suits. Almost everyone in their teens or early 20s that has smelled it on me has been sceptical. In other words it's not a crowd pleaser in my experience, but rather for the chosen few. Some people in their early 20s were actually offended by the scent. I love it and i'll use it sparingly for proper occasions.

Everything I have to say is positive, so much so this has landed on my signature shelf. TL;DR, Fantastic floral fruity spice, with a masculine tinge that invites a refreshing DNA and makes it deep and alluring, nearly all day. I'm a huge fan of this DNA, the combo of ozonic and uplifting notes really become and help other notes become a symphony of cozy, warm and plush. I personally always get a slight leathery note in the middle, but it always fades quickly, filled in quick by the rose and vanilla. Lasts around 6-8 hrs on skin, 9-12 on clothes, but this is coming from an oversprayer who genuinely does not get that nauseating feel from this. Easily throw on 10 sprays in the morning before my workouts and it changes luxuriously throughout the day.

My boyfriend bought it blindly because he found a good offer. However, before he actually made the purchase I came here and checked the notes to give him a go, as I know what is exactly what he likes to wear, and what I enjoy him to smell LOL. This was perfect, it's sweet, spicy and yet masculine. I think it can be unisex as well, but I feel that in a man it smells formal and sexy, even he just wears tshirts (yeah, that's my man); in a woman it may smell too strong for my taste, but you can try. However, I think it would be nicer for people over 35. But anyway, smell is subjective, so wear what you want at any age that you want. In general terms, as a woman, I love this in men. Lovely and very much recommended fragance (specially for the price).

Finally this is added on Fragrantica! I can't count the amount of times I've worn this and felt amazing. Incredible value for money. Comparisons to anything are a bit unfair.. though justified. Yes it is similar to Tuxedo, but has its own twist too. And if you will, lasts more than Moustache EDP, and to me smells even more pleasant. But all in all, as a fragrance this really holds its own and I find myself drawn to it constantly. Sweet, warm, a bit boozy, some sparkle and nose-opening sensation hanging in the air, and just makes you feel good for at least 8hrs. Projection for 1st hour or two can fill up a room if you go 6-10 sprays. So watch out 😁 (I don't mind spraying 12, loving it too much).

Wow, I own Kismet, tux, suits and have tried other clones of YSL's original... strait out of the box this is better than them all. It makes MA's Kismet smell sour how much deeper this is and these were just the first sprays. (Edit: okay after wearing / comparing for 4 hours Kismet lasts longer) Yeah... Turathi Blue / Brown are both top shelf in my collection. SNOI and their others are also worth looking into... they as a house brand are beating the value market in literally everything im trying... its almost unfair. Edit 4 month later, This one is more "syrupy" than MA Kismet... kismet is a whole step up unless you like your colognes to be deeper darker heavier smelling.

I understand this is "inspired" by Tuxedo. On the other hand, so are at least a half dozen other bottles. If you're looking for a 1:1 clone, this is probably not it, but it IS a really good variation of Tuxedo. I have (at least) three different bottles of fragrances that are supposed to be "clones" of Tuxedo and they all smell different. Similar, but different... On a stand-alone basis this is a very good fragrance, and if you ARE looking for something like Tuxedo, this is probably an easy safe blind buy. It's a mature scent, and there's definitely a place in my rotation for it, especially during the cooler months. Overall - 8.75 / 10.0

@asde357f: I know I'm supposed to respect one's opinion, but I can't help it... your comments are questionable. What you're saying goes in a totally different direction than every other comment made about this perfume, and makes me wonder whether you work for YSL. I found this scent to be nothing more than average until a few weeks ago. The opening isn't bad, and about 20-30 minutes in it starts to work it's magic like I couldn't have imagined. I can't help but think Afnan will become an industry leader one day, as there's not much to complain about so far from what I've seen of their products.

Wow. My only experience of the Tuxedo style of composition was Fragrance World Suits up until now. It’s pretty decent, but I always found it a bit lacking. Like it was promising something and then it was not fulfilling that promise. This though, this is fulfilling ALL THE PROMISES and then some. Well blended, well defined, intense, juicy, harmonious, smooth (I could go on). And the performance is more than enough for me. What an absolute gem. I’d be really curious to compare this to the real deal Tuxedo, wouldn’t be surprised if Turathi Brown ended up being the superior juice.

The longer you smell it, the better it gets: This is one of those scents that I had to buy a backup bottle of as soon as I smelled it. The notes/accords cannot capture the beauty and complexity of this fragrance. Smells like the skin of a freshly cut unripe mango. It’s neither green, fruity nor herbal; but perfectly sweet, spicy and extremely opulent. It has an airy quality that is quite rare for this type of fragrance as I expected it to be thicker, but it performs greatly nonetheless. Smell 10/10 Quality 9/10 Longevity 8/10 Projection 6/10 Sillage 10/10 Overall 8.6/10

Compare to Rochas Moustache that I also have, I can say both smell quite the same in the air (no wonder as both in same DNA), but when I sniff up close to where I spray, Turathi Brown smells more spicy, which I don't prefer too much. But still overall i love it. I like Moustache better for overall scent (rounder and smoother) , but performance wise Moustache is quite awful. I read it varies by batch. My bad luck to get bad performing one. But for you who like the scent profile and want relatively good performance, I can recommend Turatji Brown.

I was hesitant to get this one due to the horse / cow manure comparisons but I see no similarities. Regardless, if you got horses or cows producing this scent, you can send them right over to me so that I can smear it all over myself once this bottle runs out. Jokes aside, this one is a lovely scent. I am not familiar with either YSL Tuxedo or Rochas Moustache, the closest thing I smelled to this is Off-White Solution No.8 (overall a very different scent with some similarities) which I also like a lot.

I've had this fragrance in my collection for almost a year now, so I'm happy Fragrantica finally added a page for it. This is a great alternative to YSL's Tuxedo at a fraction of the price. A bit sweeter than Tuxedo in the opening but as it dries down it gets super close, like 90-95% close to the YSL. Smells incredible. Compliments galore. Every single time I've worn it, I've gotten compliments. Absolutely worth checking out if you love Tuxedo but don't want to dish out the cash for it. 10/10.

LET IT MACERATE/MATURE!! When i got it it had like a baby powdery scent/lipstick vibe, thought it was a waste of money, after 4 months, DAMMMMM!!!! I cant stop sniffing it!! This is incredible smelling, like damm, im in love !!! An i have like 50 fragrances, but this makes you just wanna slap yo mama, is that good.This is the definition of a elegant macho man , this is beautiful , any one who doesnt like it, let it MACERATE!! Gatekeep this at all costs. This is a amazing amazing fragrance that smells soo sooo sooo good. This is a dupe of ysl tuxedo and I haven't smelled that so idk how similar they are, but this smells just so rich and smooth. Also this lasts all day, around 8/9 hours on my skin (with lotion.) this is for a more manly sent but also easily could be worn but girls too. I was invited somewhere and I applied 4 sprays of this perfume two hours before arriving. When I left one of the rooms in the house, someone told me my scent was still into the room and asked for the name of my perfume. It has good sillage and gets compliments as well. Batch: 25/01 The only thing I don’t like is the slightly Arabic perfumes vibe, which probably comes from the spices or balsamic note. But be sure this is %100 signature worthy and smell like really expensive perfumes.

My particular bottle was a little harsh when I first got it. A few weeks later it's now exceptional... very smooth. I sprayed it on 4 times and I still get whiffs of it 12 hours later. It was very strong for the first 2-3 hours then started dialing back, but like I said it's been 12 hours (little longer) and I'm still smelling it. The scent matches the color perfectly IMO, lol. Slightly sweet too. Very pleasant, I'm a big fan. Will for sure stay stocked up on this one.

I just got into middle eastern fragrances recently, and by far afnan is one of the best UAE houses, they make high quality stuff. and Turathi brown is one of them. It smells super high quality for its price, It is one of the best smelling rose fragrances I've ever smelled, fresh and masculine rose that screams class. Everything is balanced here, right amount of sweetness, right amount of spices and right amount of fresh notes to make it a perfect scent.

what a disappointment, definitely going to let this sit for a while because i could barely pick up the notes and by looking at notes and accords i thought it would’ve been an easy blind but did last long which was a positive. edit: yeah i like it now lol. Lasts a good long time too. not sure if it matured or maybe i just started accepting it for what it is but it really is good, still would recommend that you try it first

I fell in love with this fragrance from the first sniff. I have never smelled ysl Tuxedo but this one is compliment magnet. Girls especially love this scent and what is more, it lasts all day long. I am heavy sprayer I admit, despite many fragrances don't lust so long. Two 90ml of Turathi brown frags are on the way so that I had backup bottles. And going to order more. Afnan thank you for such a beautiful scent.

Love it, get a sample first though because it may not be everyone's cup of tea. On the contrary, this gets lots of compliments and lasts me almost all of school (5-6hr before it fades completely). For me, hands down, the best YSL Tuxedo clone. The first few minutes are a little odd : Quite spicy en medicinal. The dry down is gorgeous : Ambery/vanillic, spicy, a little earthy. Absolutely worth sampling if you like Tuxedo or perfumes in that realm. This needs maceration, spray it a couple of times and let it rest for about 2 months, longevity and depth will increase significantly.

This frag smells really masculine. Sweet, spicy, and a bit ozonic fresh. It is very pleasant. However, it might not appeal to everyone. So it's not blind buy safe. Better worn during cold weather, but it still ok during mild heat. The ozonic and aquatic notes really help to lighten the vibes. It's good, but nothing to special in my skin, especially not really long lasting on me

Silage, projection and scent profile are what makes this fragrance stand out! Lasts a very long time and it is indeed a crowd pleaser. A lot of reviewers compared this to Yves Saint Laurent Tuxedo which costs over $300! Now I haven't smelled it at all but if they are correct and Turathi Brown is a clone of Tuxedo---------dare I say get 4-6 bottles for the price of one... 8.5/10

I have never smelled Tuxedo but I own the Tux by Maison Alhambra and this. The Tux seems to smell a little more masculine with a slight leathery nuance on the drydown. It is a very blended and smooth fragrance. This is a little more sweet and powdery and spicy. Both smell similar and this is a great value compared to the current hyped price of the Tux.

#951 in my "Tour de Fragrance" As everyone has posted this is a YSL Tuxedo dupe. Maison Alhambra has "The Tux" and "Kismet." Rochas has "Moustache EDP", Fragrance World has "Suits", Rue Broca has "Penthouse Larvotto." I have them all. Trust me. It's a 95% coin toss. They're all pretty beastley and the differences are niggling.

In my opinion this scent is absolutely beautiful. It blends the vanilla and spices so well to make the near perfect scent. I also get a leather note that is not listed. The only flaw with this scent is that it is suited for very formal events and for adults and not teens. 9.7 out of 10.

This is such a beautiful fragrance. Very smooth, airy, a little bit sweet, rose and spices and amber but I don't get a lot of patchouli here which could be the main difference between this and Tuxedo. Yet it's a great clone of Tuxedo and I definitely need to get this.

There's something so refreshing and quenching about the smell. It opens very aromatic and satisfying and drys down to a nice mellow vanilla spice but not traditional spice more like a watered down spice. Fantastic longevity and projection, sweet bottle and good price

Wow what a great fragrance its an instant love for me. My girlfriend pointed out that it has a similar scent profile to that of Dior Fahrenheit and I definitely agree. I haven’t smelled Tuxedo so I cannot comment on that comparison

The opening is a little harsh but after the first 5 minutes it's smells amazing, then once it's fully dried down it smells like the most elegant vanilla. I can't wait to get my nose on the og tuxedo.

This was a pleasant discovery. It reminds me of Givenchy Very Irresistible for men(might be the woodsy notes they share). Good for the winter or as a blind buy. Might even buy again!
