Tango

Thank you, Mandy Aftel, for the lovely gift of this scent. Tango is a beautiful, warm and sexy natural perfume. I applied it nearly ten hours ago and the last sweet and spicy traces are still sniffable on the back of my wrist. Without looking at the notes, I thought it had an almost chocolate-y aroma, though I see now that it doesn't contain that note. Must be a combination of coffee and tonka bean dredging up memories of some delicious hot cafe mocha in my past. The opening notes of Tango are less sweet than the dry-down. I get a kind of smokiness, a bit of spice and a heavy floral element (champaca?) at first. It does a slow burn throughout the day, becoming warmer, sweeter and more intimate as it evolves. Three drops is more than enough. Sillage is close to the skin, as is typical for a natural perfume, but the longevity on this one is great.

This was a gift and I absolutely adore it. I've never smelled anything quite like it, but I smell all the listed notes with startling clarity except for the choya loban (roasted seashells) bc I don't have a frame of reference for it. It doesn't smell mineral or oceanic, but there is a gentle smokiness to it. If I hadn't read the notes, I would perceive it as a gently sweet, faintly incensey flower-and-herb accord. It's unique, very true to life, and I love it

I was so excited to finally get my hands on this scents after so many rave reviews. Aftelier, as a general rule, has some of the most unique scents in the marketplace. Tango is really no exception. To me I get a lot of warm champaca. There is also some nuttiness to it with a hint of flowers. It's very hard to pinpoint all the notes. But in a few words: It's artsy, unusual and special. The price is high, but well worth it if you can swing it.

I have always thought of this scent as a "tobacco" perfume, but wearing it today I get smoky warm floral honey spice in no particular order. It's a cozy comforting scent for me, which isn't what I am after most of the time, but today it was perfect. I applied it at 11 am and it is still very present on my skin at 6 pm, great for a natural perfume!

Smells like a fantastic Christmas candle on me: smoky spicy incense with honey or beeswax. Quite lovely, but yes, pricey.
