Bushi No Kaori

Today I‘m wearing Agar Auras Bushi no Kaori. Ethereal, spicy & woody scent of the highest grade, just Agar Aura to the fullest. Goes deep into your senses, this explosion of aromas. The clove is most visible in the opening with sharp, bitter & cooling facets. Sometimes clove tends to have somewhat of a chlorine-like smell & oldschool vibe to me, but here it is toned down & balanced out by the woods, which dominate the main phase & drydown. There’s the Vietnamese & Cambodian ouds, which also show bitter & spicy facets. But not only that, moist green with ethereal cinnamon & bright smoke (like Indonesian ouds), as well as some leather, and deep robust woodiness (enhanced by Hinoki) accompanies it. It gets softer, less serious & instead more resinous & balsamic through time, really lovely & pleasing, typical sweet Agar Aura oud-drydown. The intense clove opening takes some getting used to, but the rest is a brilliant classic Agar Aura. You don’t find puristic wood scents of this quality a lot elsewhere. It‘s like the finished version of ALDs History of Indonesian Oud, which lacked power & complexity. AWESOME.

A deep and rich, very earthy fragrance. With intense and bitter smokiness that persists. After it settles a bit the hinoki shines through the oud. I barely get any sweetness at all. I've been in a samurai's living quarters but not before war so I can't attest to the accuracy of that aspect. It certainly wouldn't be out of place in an old Japanese house. I like unisex fragrances in general and a lot of them lean more masculine. I couldn't wear this because it's hyper-masculine. I imagine it would smell great on a man.

Deep woody aromatic scent intended to evoke the smell of Samurai living quarters before they headed out to war. The main ingredient in the scent is oud of two varieties (Cambodian and Vietnamese). This is surrounded by some Hinoki (cypress), clove, and ambergris. The overall masculine leaning scent has moderate projection and longevity and is rugged on character and not intended to please. A scent to be used for deep contemplation and in solitude. Enjoy!
