Yellow Kinam

A treat for oud oil lovers, this earthy slightly gourmandish woody aromatic scent is centered around a nice Chinese Hainan oud. The Oud is surrounded by green tea, faint traces of pepper, honey, and a vanillic lactone note. Overall the masculine leaning scent has moderate sillage and good longevity. Recommended only for die hard oud lovers because of the high price point. A nice blend that needs a trained nose to fully appreciate. Enjoy!

a scent that feels both ancient and entirely new - Yellow Kinam is easily one of the most breathtaking ouds I’ve ever tried. Given Hainan’s proximity to Vietnam, I had expected something similar to Vietnamese Kyara, that green, camphorous profile with a minty Coca-Cola brightness (prosaic, sorry). instead, this is oud as white floral, or more precisely, it wears like Opus IX, had it been composed entirely around a Kinamic heart. It’s warm, lactonic, almost gourmand... think steamed milk with wild honey over a soft, humid woodiness. I also get some bitter black tea, and dry florals with herbs ,again, dripped in honey - an immensely comforting experience. It wears close, yet lasts forever. such a shame this isn’t more accessible (and most likely never will be). But for those fortunate enough to experience it, Yellow Kinam offers something truly rare.

In my opinion, all Agar Aura scents fall into either his bright or dark category. Taha has one of the clearest DNA's in perfumery I've felt yet. Bright are Oud Lubani, Blu, Parisien etc Dark would be the Kinam's, Malinau, Malayaku for example. This one also falls to the latter category. If I were to compare this to Khmer Kinam or Kelantan, Yellow Kinam has a similar spiciness but not at all as heavy on the smoke and 'meaty' aspects but rather lets a bright, indeed yellow-hued, bitter oud mingle with creamy vanillic tones aswell as his signature peppery cinnamon. A pleasant one but perhaps too similar if you already own one of the Kinam's.
