Castiamanti

Sticky, smoky and woody oh what a love for this fragrance! She's not for everyone but those who will like it like me , will LOVE it. Beautiful so many spices, Casti Amanti in Italian means " Shy lovers / Chaste Lovers" and let me tell you, there is nothing shy or chaste here, hence why i love the mindscrew so much. Perhaps it was a secret, passionate, inappropriate relationship the lovers had ? Chaste in the sense of secretive, but definitely intense! Sure, the ingredients may not be new, but here, they are used in a completely different way. Quite impressive use of creativity and free will, we need more perfumes like this. The first time i tried it: after the first spray without even having heard of Agatho, attracted by the stunning bottle, it made my sensors go crazy, my hair go up and my lightbulb go on! I almost brought it home straight there and then. I decided then to wait and let it develop on my skin more and more, quite much into something less pungent and it made me regret not getting it. I was on a trip, in a different country, so i could not go back, i was leaving the same day, but it left me an unquenched thirst for more! She will be mine one day ( soon ). I am in love with Agatho's work now, each fragrance it's a true journey and discovery, that's just how it should be , no mass pleasing, no people pleasing, perfumes are intuitions, dreams, and stories captured in an instant.

This stuff is pretty darn good, Agatho has a very smooth smell. This starts off pretty confusing and weird, lasting for about 20min or so. It's weird because it's chaotic and sour at the start, something weirdly odd and somewhat unsettling. Yet I keep smelling it, trying to figure out if I hate it or tolerate it. Once the weird opening is over, that beautiful rose starts to peak out. The rose is the reason I bought this, they used it so well in Adone. I just loved the sample I got of Adone but it's too feminine for me to wear out. This eventually has such a beautiful rose smell with smokey incense in the nicest combination possible. Often times I can smell the smoke, then the rose shows up in the middle before the smoke takes over again. It has other things going on, you get the musk and the vanilla seems to be holding it all together. After the chaos in the opening, it becomes so well balanced, and the rose is so sweet. Yet you have a smoke, musk, and ode to bringing it all together. It's really beautiful to smell this, and makes you think more and try to figure out what is happening. I definitely recommend this, it's really nice and so appealing to smell. I can only describe it as sitting in a field of flowers with the woods behind you. Someone burning incense in the distance, and you are watching Rome burn.

wow.... the saffron in here makes me realize how much I adore this scent... it's mostly saffron with earthy notes. Fresh and clean just like that. The bottle is nice.

How is this rated so slow??? It's so damn great, it is very close to Boadicea the Victorious Ardent but with a nice edge that Ardent doesn't have

It's really nice. It's a rose/oud but not like any of the others in my collection. No rough edges and smells high class.

Perhaps it's my decant, maybe I got the wrong thing, but it's from a highly reputable seller that has never let me down once with full bottle or decant purchases, yet I struggle to smell any of what the brand or others are telling me I should smell. This is straight olibanum, and a very linear perfume at that. No laurel, myrtle, saffron, jasmine, rose, labdanum, oud, nor any of the other (curiously) large-number of notes people are pulling (some of which reviewers are stating that the brand does not; go figure). However, it is a very lovely olibanum accord, one of the best I have smelled in quite a long time. A bit watery green, lightly and sweetly woody, gently floral - perhaps the labdanum, highly resinous and earthy, a touch smokey, and, yes, a good dose of vanilla in the base. It is an exceptionally well-rounded and dimensional olibanum accord. In true extrait form expect exceptional richness that stays relatively close to you and projects very slowly but determinedly. I'm fairly confident that what Castiamanti actually is versus what many are saying it is can be chalked-up to the volume of the echoes in the social media chamber opposite to what my olfactory neurons are telling me. Though this is a lovely olibanum perfume, it is something I have smelled many, many times. Perhaps I shall have to try it again from a different source, simply on the chance that I am, indeed, smelling something other than Castiamanti or perhaps a decant that is too old. But there is one thing that the echo chamber, which is citing a floral oud perfume (erm... no), and I both agree on: we've been there, done that.

I was sent a sample of this from fragrance vault (they have discontinued scents as well as others) as a freebie, and I ADORE IT! It makes me drool! It's oud-y, it's smokey-spicy, and it's very sweet. I find it sensual and comforting. It doesn't hurt that the bottle is a work of art! It reminded me of a sweeter (in a vanilla/floral way- as opposed to the latters' cinnamon way) version of Serge Lutens' La Couche Diable, but less old-fashioned and bitter. It has a caramel-vanilla-ness to it (at least on my skin) that is just gorgeous juxtaposed with the labdanum, myrrh, leather, oud, and cedar notes. I also happen to love saffron, incense, rose, and cardamom. This has so much I love! I'm a certified jasmine hater, but I don't sense it here, and Castiamanti is so intoxicating, and well-balanced, that I feel I could easily get away with wearing this in summer heat (due to the menthol-like hit from the Myrtle and Laurel), despite it being a classically cool-weather scent (sweet, heavy rose-oud-labdanum-honey type). Edit 11/10/25: tonight I found the opening medicinal (which I personally don’t mind but know is often a dealbreaker for others), and I also found it to be very nutty, almost a little caramel-corn, but in the best way, not too savory or gross. Chewy amber, vanilla-rose-oud with incense spiciness.

I have been sampling this on and off over the past couple of weeks, and while this is not near the top of the many, many fragrances which have similar notes, I like the opening with its sharp and deep rose note. This is not a rose which leans feminine to me. It is unisex. The saffron also adds to the opening, and vanilla pops in soon after. The oud is not the star but it is a pleasant oud for those who do not want there ouds too oudy. In other words, this is a safe scent that most would like, I think it could be worn during any season.Moderate sillage and longevity. It could be worn at work or on a night on the town. If it did not have such a high price point it might make a nice addition to anyone's collection. I doubt I will add it but I'm glad I sampled it.

I really like this. It smells like a better (more projection, spicier) version of Maison Alhambra’s Exclusif Rose. I knew after the dry down, smelling it on my wrist, that it reminded me of something, so I sprayed Exclusif Rose on my other wrist to test. Their dry down is very similar to my nose. This one is stronger, but so very lovely. I really enjoy this spicy, incense like, oudy take on the rose. Castiamanti also has better longevity, though Exclusif Rose does do pretty well on clothes. However, I already have Exclusif Rose and I paid around $20 for it, so I would have to pass on this just for the price alone. This house does gorgeous presentation and I’m glad I sampled this because it definitely is a better version of a perfume I already own and love.

Beautiful and round Oriental composition with lots of spices, oud, vanilla and a bit of a rose. It’s very traditional in a good way, but also has more softness and freshness inside in comparison to the similar fragrances from this fragrant family. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

I thought this was ok at first but its grown on me. Very nice scent. Smells very mature.

Mostly sticky saffron with slight hint of rose. Easy to wear but nothing groundbreaking as there are others fragrances in this genre that do the same job for thalf the cost.

Lovely composition and the first I have tried from the house. Saffron and rose hit your nose instantly the moment you sprayed this on your skin. The overall base smell very similar to myrrh for me, resinous, ambery, and warm which is suitable for dating or nightly occasion, but aside from that, It is not versatile at all which is perfectly fine. Definitely for the colder weather and projection wise, decently strong with a decent longevity of around 5-6 hour on my skin. The price however might be a little bit of a turn off for how expensive this is but overall, an excellent product and I am looking forward to try out more stuff from Agatho

Saffron, rose, oud accord. Atleast it's without the sticky lactonic notes this time. Saffron, sandalwood, suede, hazelnut praline and patchouli is in the forefront, giving it a spicy golden hue instead of the usual red. Not new at all, but definitely one of the more enjoyable perfumes in its genre!

Just yet another Saffron Rose Oud fragrance. Time after time after time can we please just have more creativity in this industry PLEASE. It smells fine. But it smells like a scent you could find from most brands you'd find in the perfume hall at Harrods.

I found it rather bland. To me, it felt like yet another extremely synthetic fragrance. At times it reminded me of some perfumes from the house Juliette Has a Gun. Overall, I didn’t like it.

A less amped-up version of Intense Cafe. More vanilla and spice. Still smells nice.

It smells very similar to Montale Oud Pashmina. Beautiful
