Say Yes

#1243 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I'm a fan of fig scents. Mancera "Fig Extasy", "Fig Me Up", Carner Barcelona's "Fig Man", Essential Parfums "Fig Infusion", Arte Profumi "FigoMoro", Clean "Sel Santal." The very best of them is a scent I've only found on eBay, the even nuttier Alessandria "Gattopardo Antonio." And as we all know, since eBay claims to police counterfeiting, but really doesn't, buying anything on eBay is a crapshoot. A shame because the whiskey note in that scent really adds something to this kind of fragrance. The women I know seem to love figgy scents as well as I do, so it's definitely a unisex hit. But the real star here is all the hazelnut, also a feature of the Alessandria scent I mentioned. If you like a hazelnut latte and don't mind smelling a bit like like one, you're gonna love this scent. If you'd eat a candy bar made with figs and hazelnuts (I would), you'll love this. Bond 9 "Tribeca", Valentino "Valentino Uomo", Les Indemodables "Patchouli Noisette", all hits with me and all with nice hazelnut notes. Between the hazelnut and fig I'm pretty much a sure thing for this scent. But not finding a lot of sources, same as with the Alessandria fragrance. I avoid buying from FragranceNet, who rarely are the best price, but they're out of stock of this one as is Scent Split. If anyone has had good experience with an eBay vendor in Estonia called "Fragrance Gallery", please PM me. This isn't cheap at around $230-250 for 50 ml, so I'd like to find a cheaper source if there's one out there.

I really like this one. It is sweet, but not overly so. I like the oud, and while the hazelnut is subtle, I do smell it there. I can't put my finger/nostril on it, but there is something familiar about it. I feel like I have smelled something similar to this- like most of these notes together along with something i did not like too much. And because I did not like it, I can't remember what it is. Oh well. I like this very much. Excellent taying power! .

Love this A LOT actually, super sweet yet not cloying, I love my batch. The hazlenut accord is fantastic, really well done. To put it, imagine eating toast at a picnic in piny woods, nutella sandwich and figs. Strange out loud but super nice imo, love this during christmas and for brighter days :3

The hazelnut accord here is similar to that in Baruti’s Perverso, but that one is so strong. I find this much more wearable. It’s rather salty and sweet, but not oppressive.

Say Yes is my first experience with Agonist, and my expectations were high. I've wanted to test something from this house for a long time, because many of their scents (including this one) look so enticing, and at this price point I think it's only natural to expect the highest quality. Fig is my all-time favourite perfume note, and I was hoping for a wonderful semi-gourmand cold weather interpretation of that here. In short, I quite expected to fall in love with Say Yes; now that I've given it a couple of days' wear, I'm sorry to say I didn't. I'm not sure if it's the fragrance's fault that it's not quite my thing, or my own nose's. It's not a bad scent by any means, and when smelled from a certain angle it does smell about as lovely as I had imagined it: a very nice milky vanilla with dried fig jam and delicious whiffs of hazelnut and tiare flower, sweet and comforting but not sugary. It dries down to a more subdued, more powdery version of this as well, and I'm quite happy with it in this phase. But in the opening and early heart there's something offputting in the composition that kind of ruins it for me when smelled up close. I guess it must be the rather harsh amber accord combined with the oud note, which I can't discern explicitly: it's kind of a chemical smell and it verges on being unpleasant. Who knows, it might be my skin chemistry that's causing this, or my nose that's missing something... Luckily, longevity is good, and that drydown really is gorgeous! So I have mixed feeling about this one - too bad, it's always a little frustrating when a scent comes this close to being perfect for me, but doesn't quite get there.

I say no thank you, darling, you're ever so sweet but we're not well matched. First thing even close to a fail that I've tried from Agonist: I was tempted by the siren song of a real hazelnut scent with wood background, and have enjoyed the house's Black Amber and Hope so much I thought I couldn't lose. Sadly not. On my skin - which does amplify candy and sweet notes - this is very, very gourmand: rather sticky vanilla, rather sugary amber, and the very discreet floral touches making the whole effect turn out even cutesier. There's simply not enough true nutty/woodiness to hold my affection here, and Agonist does know how to do those notes stronger and with more conviction. This is definitely NOT horrible - it's a gentle, friendly, low-pressure treatment of the theme - and it will certainly appeal to those who love true gourmands and can ride out the rush of just a little too much sugar. Projection seemed pretty assertive to me, though longevity wasn't up to much - a scent cloud for maybe 2h, a slick of sweetness on skin for maybe 5h total. It's nice ... and I mean that in the lukewarm, well-yes-okay-then sense. It just doesn't deserve the chef's kiss from me.

Incredibly amusing!!! I believe Agonist now became aware of how to make it through the niche safe and take it from there to reach the top! This one over here is just a proof of how they became more developed and creative & changing from the boring blend into an excitement charm. This is like a joyride into dreamland. It has the darkened sweet amber with nutshells and salty raw core of the hazelnuts mixed with sandalwood. The fig (which i already disliked) is presented in an amusement way as it's baby fig rather than the matured cloying type by mixing it with the exotic frangipani, and the soured flower leaves of the hintly jasmines. Again, it's incredibly made with that overly used sweetness that is way from boring cloying and presented in a dark amber European oudi way. Now i can't classify this as oriental but at the same time it isn't European! it's just stuck in between and combining the multi cultural aspects. Again, it's not a creation from scratch but if there is anything similar to it that has been done before, then i believe this will be a more developed concept of that. Brilliant.
