Solaris

The first time I smelled this I pictured a solar flare. It's almost electric smelling, if that's possible. I also get an image of hiking in Northern-Norway in the midnight sun, looking out over the ocean. It took me a while to decide I like this fragrance as I'm not usually a citrus fan, but I do like it and I think it's quite unique. Just be careful not to over-spray because the patchouli/peach/black currant will be pungent at first. One spritz will last you a long time and at just the right potency.

Perfect for between Summer and Fall! I adore this one, or perhaps I should say, it adores me.

Not many people here on the review page are fans. This isn't a full bottle purchase for me but I think it's lovely so feel compelled to offer my differing viewpoint. The perfume opens with fresh, ripe fruit sweetness. I really like the opening notes a lot as they aren't too citrus/sharp, and aren't too sweet. The word 'safe' seems negative, I'd use the word pretty instead. I don't mean that in a gendered way either. It's just a sweet, pretty, and grounded perfume. After the initial sweetness, I get the petigrain, salty sea and ambergris notes but they are a light touch. The sweetness prevails throughout the middle and soften into the dry down. The patchouli appears in the dry down, and isn't dirty, I'm not sure if that is my skin chemistry or the batch as others seem to get a dirty patch. It's very well blended, and I didn't find this to be linear but then again I tend to be heavy-handed with my application so maybe others didn't apply enough of it. The longevity and sillage is medium to light. A great day time fragrance for summer.

Solaris is said to be inspired by the midnight sun of Northern Europe - and since midsummer was only a week ago it seems appropriate to make a review of this! To start of with, I really don't get the profile of this fragrance at all. I would love to see something "Scandinavian Nights" themed composed by notes like linden, honeysuckle, birch, pine, petrichor, elderflower, cloudberries, gooseberries, wild strawberries... the list goes on and on and on. Instead this fragrance is mainly composed by peach and grapefruit. And it's not bad, It's really not. It sparkles through summer weather without giving you a headache or make you nauseous. Opening is a bit bitter but it quickly lands is something more juicy and sweet with decent longevity. Over all it smells alot like peach candy, like sitting on some scorching hot vinyl sundbed and eating some foreign Haribo bag you've never seen before. It smells more like Siesta than Solaris.

This beginning is very lively,pink grapefruit dominates the entrance, but the lemon is a protagonist! However, for me the best part is after about 15-20 minutes, its evolution is slow and gradually becoming more "soft" when peach,aquatic notes and ginger combine pepper.. this is My favorite part of the perfume. I mean that is not bad, it smells good, which is very versatile, and can be suitable for both summer and spring in my opinion ... it is the first of Agonist and I feel like even if it is not love :). The sillage is soft, but longevity is good, takes about 7-8 hours to me. Not a heavy perfume, is lively, fresh, a bit nostalgic and sweet. Not bad! Sillage: 6/10 Longevity: 7/10 Scent: 8/10 Overall: 7.5/10

From the start, it's salty, citrusy, herbal, and sweet. It almost reminds me of a day on the California coast. As it dries it loses a lot of its freshness and turns into a sticky-sweet, saltwater taffy sort of scent. It's a little bit much for me, but I can't say it's not cheerful and bright. It's certainly unlike anything I've tried before. Ironically, even though it smells like a warm day by the seashore, on a truly warm day by the seashore it might prove to be suffocating. I think this is one of those I'll like more or less depending on the day. Also, its longevity leaves something to be desired.

This is a beautiful fruity fragrance. When I apply it on my skin I immediately get peaches, tangerines, and oranges. It is such a fresh, uplifting scent. You cannot help but smile. After 30 minutes it settles into a more subdued fragrance, still undoubtedly fruity, but less obvious. After 1 hour I struggle to smell it, unless I take a big deep breath right on my skin - and I am very heavy handed when I apply fragrance. Suffice to say that sillage is poor. If you are happy to reapply throughout the day, or just looking for a little lift, this is a fantastic, happy perfume.

The opening smells very realistic and fresh. Tangerines, grapefruit, lemon, you can almost feel the pulp. Blends better as it dries. On me, this ends up smelling like a less screechy Clinique Happy. Dries down to have a Chanel-esque feel. A cute summer citrusy frag.

Sweet, fresh, citrusy, my body bathed in sunlight and completely naked .... an organic scent. Original then I like it.

This is a common, generic, citrusy, unisex scent as millions other offerings from designer houses. Totally forgetable but safe, versatile and pleasant. Similar to many shower gels for kids. Dominant notes are tangerine, grapefruit, mild lemon, black currant and sea note which feels quite sunthetic and off the blend. Moderate performance overall.

To me is unbalanced and harsh. I like the name - reminds me SF book I have Author's name was Stanislaw Lem "Solaris"- the movie was great too. The grapefruit and peaches are lying down too spicy for me. Galbaum is annoying as well. General I am glad I have got this as present otherwise I would never purchase it. I simply don;t like it.

Very fruity and light, gets even more watery and sweet through drydown. I get more pear smell than citrus. It reminds me of whatever fragrance they spray at the entrance to Abercrombie & Fitch, and that is not a compliment. This is utterly boring and it is refusing to scrub off.

The main note in this to me was sweet tarts candy. It has a very forward fake citrus sourness, especially for the first couple hours. Then it mellows out with some woodiness and patchouli, and maybe vanilla (/tonka bean). I don't like to smell like sour candies, so not for me.

I got it from my friend at work. Its vibrant, sunny and mystic scent even thou accords seems prosaic. Cosmic...opening head chakra to me.... Not a fan of peach, but with these interesting sour notes it has created a beauty effect.

Instant headache. Piercing, harsh notes drilling into my brain. Unbearable. Unscrubbable. Lingers even after amputation of arm.

citrus with a retro vibe, too much patchouli for me

I got my hands on this scent when I bought Agonist sample box. I have tried alle the fragrances, and are writing reviews and my opinions on their works. My first impression was that even thought this frag was listed as a unisex scent, it definitely was to the feminine side. So what do I get out of this fragrance? the notes are quite tough to figure out. The scent is sweet and feminine and I get the notes of ylang ylang and some exotic fruit. I also get a very destinctive patchouli note and suddently ask myself - can patchouli be feminine? I still think that the notes are hard to figure out. This fragrance has a very special composition and actually smells dated somehow. Like some memories of me staying at my grandmas home, and the scents memorised there. I am having a hard time with this fragrance as I think that it isn't worth the money that you are expected to bring in order to get a hold of it. Unfortunate and sad. Overall rating: 6/10

Notes-wise, I definitely get the candy scent that many appear to talk about. The citrus is not typical fresh citrus. I'm reminded more of a lemon myrtle tea that I quite enjoy - it's got a faint eucalyptus vibe to the citrus. I took a long read through Fragrantica when tossing up whether to buy this bottle or not. I almost didn't as I enjoy stronger sillage and longevity than Solaris appeared to deliver, particularly given the price. But I have been pleasantly surprised, as I received several whiffs over the first 4-5 hours. Definitely more than a skin scent on me. Personally, I'm happy with my purchase, but I would definitely recommend trying for yourself if you are sillage-conscious.

Smells a lot like bubble bath to me. With some starbursts candy. Particularly some pink, orange, and yellow ones... So a .. starburst bubble bath a bit? Smells alright. Pretty linear on my skin, however performance wise it did well. Especially if you consider it a "citrus" scent. I got 12 hours out of it, with a fair amount of projection for the first bit of its lifespan on my testing. Smelled fine, but not something I could see myself wanting to wear. I was hoping for something a little more, or something different I guess.
