Agua de Sevilla

If spring and sunshine have a smell, it ́s this. A radiant, crisp floral, with orange blossoms and jasmine as main notes. The delicate halo of bergamot, orange and petit grain isn ́t immediately noticeable, but gives a radiant, happy vibe to the white flowers. Bought in Sevilla during a trip, and never forgot. Every time one of our friends goes to Spain, we ask him/her to bring us a bottle. Me and my mother fight over it and use it sparingly, because we never know when we will be able to repurchase another. We can never use it enough to really grew tired of it, and that ́s probably why after almost 10 years this simple, classic scent it ́s more attractive than ever.

Nací en Sevilla y esto es un clásico. Aunque se nota que tira a lo femenino y algo atalcado, tiene un toque tan verde que no satura nada. Cuando lo llevo, mucha gente de mi tierra lo asocia automáticamente con alguna mujer de su familia. Incluso sin conocer esta fragancia se te hace amistosa.

I received this as a gift when it first came out. The Agua de Sevilla is a light and fresh scent of orange blossoms that can be worn in the hottest times. Not bad but a bit too generic and nothing special. It was pretty expensive when it came out but now it ́s much cheaper (around 20-30€). The bottle is inspired by the brick chimmeneys of the old La Cartuja porcelain factory at La Cartuja island in Seville, where took place the Universal Expo of 1992 and was a big success at the time. This EDT was part of the merchandising surrounding the Expo ́92. Nowadays there are many other EDTs and colognes with similar notes inspired by Seville and orange blossoms for example Agua Fresca de Azahar by Instituto Español, Agua Fresca de Naranjo by Adolfo Domínguez, Aire de Sevilla by Instituto Español and Agua Fresca de Naranjos by Ruy. This makes the old Agua de Sevilla even more generic.

I notice that this hasn’t been reviewed for a few years so I just thought I’d add my impression. I got my bottle a few years ago, when I was in Seville, and while I don’t reach for it a lot, I still enjoy it from time to time. It is a crisp, light, floral with orange blossom being the predominant note and the other florals filing the scent out a bit and balancing the sharpness that I sometime find with orange blossom. It doesn’t project very strongly, or have great longevity, but after three hours someone giving me a hug can still notice a delicate, feminine, and pleasant scent. It’s lovely on a warm spring or summer morning.

Memories of spring mornings in Seville. It's early morning, just before the sun punish the streets with its sizzling power,when orange blossom flowers release their fresh and zesty scent. The last remain of freshness before the heat stand out in town. Unfortunately the fragrance just lasts for a couple of hours, but in such a hot environment it's wise to refresh one self with freely splash of this perfume, deribelately!
