A probably futile attempt at seriously reviewing some of the Marvel Comics fragrance line. I was curious enough about Air-Val International's Marvel licensed fragrances to pick up a set of four eau de toilette mini bottles. The ingredient lists on the box shows that the four fragrances should be quite different, ...but in actuality, they are all fairly similar. Smelling them side-by-side does reveal differences, ...so at least they aren't just putting the exact same cheap cologne in different bottles, ...but the differences are slight enough to suggest many bases and accords are shared between scents. Individual descriptions of each of the four scents: • Spiderman comes across as a very basic woody fresh-aromatic, • ...while Captain America is almost the same, but with a touch more wood and vanilla. • The Hulk may be the most distinct of the four, as it does smell like a powdery vanillic lavender. • Iron Man is somewhat similar to The Hulk, but less powder and the sweet note is fruitier (so apple?), ...also Iron man is supposed to be spicy, but the aromatic (spicy?) notes just read as more lavender.
