Amber Poivre

This is one of the most full-bodied, alluring amber-centric fragrance I've come across in recent memory. The wood, pepper, and musk are the main supporting actors, but the whole composition is important for creating this lovely olfactory experience. It has a perfect amount of spiciness to make it more interesting, but without overpowering the amber. Upon first spray, I had a genuine "wow" reaction. I had the same reaction the second and third time I applied it, too. The temptation to overspray is STRONG with this one. If you're after an airy, powdery-light amber, this may not be it. To me, Amber Poivre is more interesting than that. It's an enticing, unisex amber with subtle darker tones, discreet sensuality, and enough gravitas to make it memorable--all while remaining focused on amber as the main actor on stage. For the most part, I don't wear perfumes based on the season--after all, many of the best dark, heavy fragrances come from the hottest parts of the world. However, I suspect Amber Poivre is appropriate for most/all seasons for those who do rotate their fragrances with the weather. It has 5-8-ish hour longevity on me; projection is 4-6 ft for the first few hours, after which it becomes more intimate. The long drydown loses some of the darker tones, but I never stop enjoying it. The overall performance is moderate. Despite this, it is a definite "love" for me. NOTE: With some other higher-end fragrances from this house, people have reported some variations in potency between batches. I don't know if this is the case with Amber Poivre, but just in case it is, the batch I'm reviewing is from Jan/2020.

In a way, this is an awesome mistake lol. I actually ordered Amber Santal but was sent this instead. Notes are kinda similar, so just sprayed it anyway and wow! I'm not really sure what I was expecting from Amber Santal, but this hits all the spots I thought I would get. Very nice and smooth Amber, sandalwood, and saffron. That saffron is giving this a leathery kick in the opening. But something smells bright and not sure if that's any of the florals or something else. I already have Haktora Wood, which is an outstanding fragrance as well. This is doing its own thing, but so damned well. This seems like it will have push for hours, but I'll return to update after a full wear. Again, this is out of the box, so I'll anticipate the strength to increase and the blending to mesh better as it matures. A beautiful mistake lol. Update 4/16/2026: Simply stunning! I'm not even a big amber fan, but this fragrance is strongly making me reconsider. It made it through a full workday, now the longevity did reduce closer to the skin around hour 6. But I also remembered Haktora Wood following the same script. So I'm extremely excited about this fragrance and its evolution. Will try to remember to return in about 2 weeks to give a final update on the performance after maturing some. This is pure lux! And to my nose, surprisingly versatile.

I recently had a chance to try this fragrance. I have a small sample which I have been wearing for the past week. There are a lot of notes missing in the triangle on Fragrantica. On the booklet that came with the sample, cardamon, saffron, Bergamot and Lemon are also mentioned as a part of the fragrance triangle. Amber Poivre is a potent fragrance, one spray can easily fill a room and it lasts forever. On my skin it lasts for 10-12 hours easily whereas on a strip it lasts for over 24 hours. Amber Poivre opens with a Pepper and Bergamot blast. After about 20 minutes or so Saffron and Cardamom notes come through and it feels as if I am walking through the spice bazar in Dubai. Eventually, the gorgeous sweet and golden Amber comes through. I don't think I can wear this fragrance on a regular basis to work even though it is such a well made fragrance mainly because it's so loud and there is no way you can tone it down but I am absolutely in love with this. I just keep on reaching for this when I am home. Do do give it a try if you like spicy orientals.

Nice Ambery scent. It is not too overpowering at all. I find the ingredients go together well. Good longevity, and decent sillage. Price point is great for something different that you're not going to find the average Joe wearing at the local pub, and that's a nice thing. When the base notes hit, it reminds me somewhat of a Montale-type scent, and I'm ok with that. It is a great-smelling scent IMHO. The bottle is beautiful and looks much more exciting than most. It gives you that inquisitive feeling that you want to try. And when you do, it grabs you, hook, line, and sinker.

Heavy duty amber .... Awesome. I've been on an amber quest this past month. I've had Akkad, Ambre Noir, Grand Soir, Amber Absolute, etc etc. This is what I want right here. No bullshit amber that performs like a beast without being cloying or overly sweet. The pepper in this is similar to the Amber Santal from the same line except it's blended a little better. It gives it some KICK!! Very versatile as well. I can see myself wearing this whenever for whatever. I'm sure most will say this works best in the colder months..... I say SPRAY THAT SHIT ALL YEAR MANG!!

This is my first review. I love this scent and I am a woman. I usually like unisex fragrances . This one to be is more sharp and masculine but it somehow be worn by a woman as a statement of strong character and " I don't care about what others think as I know my value". The scent is overpowering but not disturbing as everything is blended so well. It is addictive as I need to sniff myself when I wear it. It lasts for long hours. You don't need to spiht too much. For women I think it is not a safe blind buy.

Update: With a bit of patience, I'm already experiencing an increase in the strength. Excellent projection the first 1.5 hours and longevity for 10 hours, with the last 2 noticeable skin scent. Again, this is just under 2 weeks. This is the best amber fragrance I've smelled. The black pepper, amber, and sandalwood combines to give this leathery nuance in the opening into the top of the mid. This line and the W series has been very impressive so far.

Generic blend, kinda fatiguing. I've smelt this a million times on other Floral Musk attars. Lots of florals and woodiness with a ton load of clean musk, there is nothing more to this fragrance. If Ambroxan is to western perfumes, Floral Musk is for the middle eastern perfumes. Both synthetic bases fatigue me.

Absolute waste of money ..becomes a skin scent after 20 minutes .got my bottle Wednesday but can't see year of production or batch number anywhere.. Ajmal is forever banned

To me, Amber Poivre smells how the bottle looks...golden, amber-y, elegant. This is warm and balmy, but very clean. This doesn't have nearly as much pepper as I thought it would, so it's smoother than expected. Smelling this does conjure up visions of Moorish architecture and date gardens for me, but this isn't just for the kasbah. I think it's pretty suitable for any time, any place. I live in the dry, hot desert and I think this has enough freshness to wear when it's warm out. It's also really nice for the nighttime. All in all this is good stuff.

I love the fragrance. A beautiful blend of amber, pepper and sandalwood.
