Ambre Pimente

Best blind-buy ever! For the €21 I spent on this, this deservers so much more! Starts off with a nice smooth airy wave of amber (duh) backed with a very prominent cardamom note; infact, that is the major note here and I am not sure why is this not included. There is a very soft base of sweetness which I reckon is coming from the musk, almost giving it a talc feel; fret not, this smells extremely expensive and classy. More aptly, as someone had already made the connection here, it is very much like a "kulfi" which is a variant of ice-cream in India. Floods my memories from childhood and rakes in all the nostalgia, taking me back to my country and this makes me so happy with this scent profile. I just had to write a review on my first sniff as this made me extremely happy, so I couldn't get a proper testing for performance. However, from my inital use, the performance seems to be great! my gf could smell it faintly in the room after 6 hours of application my arm with just 2 spray, I could still clearly smell it directly from the arm anyway. Will update this after a while. Overall, my only regret with this is me not getting it sooner! It is a rather safe blind-buy too as I do not imagine this will offend anyone and is neither difficult on the nose. Extremely pleasing and super verstaile with above average perfomance, a real singature worth hidden gem, all this while costing 1/4 of its value - what more could you ask for !? Get. It. Now.

This is not a full review in detail but some thoughts on this wonderful scent. It is a love from first sniff, a hidden gem for me!!! A true masculine arabic summer scent quite underrated (and a true unisex for the western perfume philosophy).. fragranticans from arabic countries will feel that. It takes some time to judge it, you must wait for 1-2 minutes to settle down. Definitely there are more notes than those listed. I get rose, light oud, bergamot, sandalwood, saffron, cardamom (it reminds me the hermes voyage as for the cardamom).. I'm still evaluating it. It's not linear, it changes through time but the light oud, amber and rose on a woody base, never fade out. Close your eyes and smell it.. what comes to your mind? A classy and expensive smell. It's unbelievable and very affordable. It has strong performance but it's not a beast. I get about 7-8 hours from it. Suitable for spring, day and night and cool summer evenings. It's too strong for very high temperatures. And the bottle I have is different from the photo above. Update - Similar scent. If you like this Ajmal, give a try to Cher Tetu by Naso di Raza house.

Futuristic movies like Minority Report, Gattaca, etc portray a time that has adopted an austere aesthetic: chilled corporate chic, colorless shades of white and grey, clean lines, and very little clutter. If a synthetic minimalism is to be the inevitable style of the future, this is a fragrance well-suited for those times. The initial blast is pure alcohol, sterile doctors’ office images flood the mind. Imperceptibly, this astringency gives way to an emerging warmth of spices and musky woodiness. The sterile alcohol note fades but never fully departs, becoming an actual accord in the fragrance. It is so strange, but it is this curiosity that gives it the futuristic austerity. In the end, a spicy, mildly woody, somewhat warm but overwhelmingly synthetic aura goes on and on. Longevity is quite good, though the scent isn’t far-reaching. I can imagine this fragrance being worn by a sexy android in A.I. or I, Robot. It’s actually better than I’m making it sound...unless you fancy the idea of sexy androids...and I’ll just leave that right there.

Excellent fragrance that is well suited for cooler nights. Sweet cedar, a little rose, amber and spices make this an elegant wear for anyone. It's nicely blended and airy while smelling rich. It lasts through the day and is warm and inviting. For the spices, it's not peppery so much as it is cardamommy. It's easy to wear due to gentle impressions of cedar as compared to other oriental fragrances that rely on oud. In my collection, it's very similar but easier to wear than Maison Alhambra Kismet Men and Rochas Moustache. I'll use those less from now on due to how smooth this is. An incredible value too given the price these past few years. I have a smoother cardamom, floral and woody scent in Armani Eau de Nuit Oud but this will be nice to wear as well. I have Toy boy too but that is way more rose forward. This the best blended Ajmal I own too. The others Zeal and Silver Shade are much more abrasive and rough. No regrets on this one, thanks Ajmal! Better and better.

Like another user said before, this fragrance reminds of something different to each user and same goes for me, this to my nose smells like a less pungent and tamer version of Zara WO/03 Café et Cèdre, it's like if someone mixed that fragrance with a tinge of ambergris, rose and spices. Smells very unusual, really cold and sharp yet inviting, this can be easily worn year round because it never gets too warm even when the amber rises in the drydown. I have to be honest, I wasn't crazy about it the first times I wore it but it grew on me a lot, this is a really really solid scent but not for everyone. Many people say this is right in the middle of unisex, maybe it's my skin but I find this fragrance extremely masculine, I don't think I'd picture a woman wearing this. Performance seems good enough, 6-7 hours of longevity on my skin, 1-2 hours of moderate projection.
