Ambre Pimente

Best blind-buy ever! For the €21 I spent on this, this deservers so much more! Starts off with a nice smooth airy wave of amber (duh) backed with a very prominent cardamom note; infact, that is the major note here and I am not sure why is this not included. There is a very soft base of sweetness which I reckon is coming from the musk, almost giving it a talc feel; fret not, this smells extremely expensive and classy. More aptly, as someone had already made the connection here, it is very much like a "kulfi" which is a variant of ice-cream in India. Floods my memories from childhood and rakes in all the nostalgia, taking me back to my country and this makes me so happy with this scent profile. I just had to write a review on my first sniff as this made me extremely happy, so I couldn't get a proper testing for performance. However, from my inital use, the performance seems to be great! my gf could smell it faintly in the room after 6 hours of application my arm with just 2 spray, I could still clearly smell it directly from the arm anyway. Will update this after a while. Overall, my only regret with this is me not getting it sooner! It is a rather safe blind-buy too as I do not imagine this will offend anyone and is neither difficult on the nose. Extremely pleasing and super verstaile with above average perfomance, a real singature worth hidden gem, all this while costing 1/4 of its value - what more could you ask for !? Get. It. Now.

This is not a full review in detail but some thoughts on this wonderful scent. It is a love from first sniff, a hidden gem for me!!! A true masculine arabic summer scent quite underrated (and a true unisex for the western perfume philosophy).. fragranticans from arabic countries will feel that. It takes some time to judge it, you must wait for 1-2 minutes to settle down. Definitely there are more notes than those listed. I get rose, light oud, bergamot, sandalwood, saffron, cardamom (it reminds me the hermes voyage as for the cardamom).. I'm still evaluating it. It's not linear, it changes through time but the light oud, amber and rose on a woody base, never fade out. Close your eyes and smell it.. what comes to your mind? A classy and expensive smell. It's unbelievable and very affordable. It has strong performance but it's not a beast. I get about 7-8 hours from it. Suitable for spring, day and night and cool summer evenings. It's too strong for very high temperatures. And the bottle I have is different from the photo above. Update - Similar scent. If you like this Ajmal, give a try to Cher Tetu by Naso di Raza house.

Futuristic movies like Minority Report, Gattaca, etc portray a time that has adopted an austere aesthetic: chilled corporate chic, colorless shades of white and grey, clean lines, and very little clutter. If a synthetic minimalism is to be the inevitable style of the future, this is a fragrance well-suited for those times. The initial blast is pure alcohol, sterile doctors’ office images flood the mind. Imperceptibly, this astringency gives way to an emerging warmth of spices and musky woodiness. The sterile alcohol note fades but never fully departs, becoming an actual accord in the fragrance. It is so strange, but it is this curiosity that gives it the futuristic austerity. In the end, a spicy, mildly woody, somewhat warm but overwhelmingly synthetic aura goes on and on. Longevity is quite good, though the scent isn’t far-reaching. I can imagine this fragrance being worn by a sexy android in A.I. or I, Robot. It’s actually better than I’m making it sound...unless you fancy the idea of sexy androids...and I’ll just leave that right there.

Excellent fragrance that is well suited for cooler nights. Sweet cedar, a little rose, amber and spices make this an elegant wear for anyone. It's nicely blended and airy while smelling rich. It lasts through the day and is warm and inviting. For the spices, it's not peppery so much as it is cardamommy. It's easy to wear due to gentle impressions of cedar as compared to other oriental fragrances that rely on oud. In my collection, it's very similar but easier to wear than Maison Alhambra Kismet Men and Rochas Moustache. I'll use those less from now on due to how smooth this is. An incredible value too given the price these past few years. I have a smoother cardamom, floral and woody scent in Armani Eau de Nuit Oud but this will be nice to wear as well. I have Toy boy too but that is way more rose forward. This the best blended Ajmal I own too. The others Zeal and Silver Shade are much more abrasive and rough. No regrets on this one, thanks Ajmal! Better and better.

Like another user said before, this fragrance reminds of something different to each user and same goes for me, this to my nose smells like a less pungent and tamer version of Zara WO/03 Café et Cèdre, it's like if someone mixed that fragrance with a tinge of ambergris, rose and spices. Smells very unusual, really cold and sharp yet inviting, this can be easily worn year round because it never gets too warm even when the amber rises in the drydown. I have to be honest, I wasn't crazy about it the first times I wore it but it grew on me a lot, this is a really really solid scent but not for everyone. Many people say this is right in the middle of unisex, maybe it's my skin but I find this fragrance extremely masculine, I don't think I'd picture a woman wearing this. Performance seems good enough, 6-7 hours of longevity on my skin, 1-2 hours of moderate projection.

To my nose Ajmal Ambre Pimente smells like the base spiciness DNA in Layton. Pair Ambre Pimenté with the plasticky apple pie being Hugo Boss Bottled Intense and *boom* you have Layton - but I would much prefer wear the two layered rather than that Layton - but I despise layering so as a result well... You get it... This was a blind buy for me and it was a hidden. Gem. In. The. Rough. I have to say. So pleased with the smell I got a second bottle a year later. A regal and cool realistic black pepper note with real ambergris that gets warmer, smokey, resinous and deeper as it dries. How can something so cheap smell like it should cost $100 more? This lasts for a long time Friends and family love it blindly - if you don't overspray Wafts very far - leaves a trail Smells smooth and expensive even though it's very cheap. Thanks Ajmal 9/10

Tried a decant few months back. At first spray it reminded of the middle eastern, heavy, cloying perfume oils (With lots of synthetic powdery notes) But after the perfume settles on skin, Oh my heaven! So wonderful! So elegant ! Basically, this perfume has a prominent cardamom note and somehow there's a smooth rose note as well. This perfume has one of the most gorgeous middle eastern opening and with time it gets much more western . Lots of iso e super and woody Dry down. Currently wearing in the winter and tested decant in fall but i'm sure this will rock in summer as well. Performance and prices are satisfactory.

Such a beautiful scent and very underrated from Ajmal. The scent doesn't change a lot over the phases, it starts warm,creamy, balsamic, deep smooth notes of amber and spices, musky as well, i can't identify the cedar wood notes. I also have to add that i do smell a strong vibe of Oud which starts from the second phase, very subtle but it starts to grow stronger till the end. May be more conventioneer for a woman than a man, yet this is should not a man from trying it. Should be tried before buying, as it is a very bold/strong perfume, i think it's EDP, i personally love it but couldn't find it in me to wear it.

Even though it's not an official note I get a very prominent spicy rose accord...like the one in Moschino - Toy Boy only more masculin and dare I say more wearable. Supporting the rose accord is pepper and cardamom with a bit of freshness and some woods in the base. This is very well blended and VERY nice...and for the price I think it's a bargain. It's a bit tricky though...look at the reviews below and see how many different perfumes it reminds people of...I tried it on a few people today and one even said that it reminded him of the opening of Naxos. Take the leap if you dare...you might be surprised.

A fantastic fresh scent for men. There is some sweetness in the opening, which makes my senses tingle, it is so pleasant, that it makes me smile. I've gone through hundreds of niche scents (and just as many designers), but this one of the best openings I've ever smelled. Unfortunately, that sweet citric accord fades away in minutes, leaving a skin scent that has none of the vibe mentioned before. It's still nice, but not nice enough for me to buy. If it didn't change so drastically, I would instantly get it.

I absolutely love this fragrance. It stands out among other Ajmal frags. It is strong and long lasting, not that other ones are not Amber Pimente is just louder and more noticeable. I found it works better in hot weather, I can say the same for other Ajmals frags and oils perhaps it has something to do with the weather where it comes from... Amber is definitely the most pronounced note. It does change a bit over time, it becomes softer.

I have this one. I love it. I got compliments from my coworkers and family. I treasured it. I’m an oversprayer I tried taking it easy with this one but it just smells so good. I bought an extra bottle. I gave it to my dad for his bday. I was broke at the time and I decided to gift him my extra bottle. He probably doesn’t know how much it means to me or how much I love it. I hope when he gets compliments he remembers me

Excellent fragrance. Fairly linear but doubt many would find this offensive. I have received several compliments in two wearings. I detect alot of pepper and cedar over the amber. Here the amber isn't overly sweet, it just holds the wood and spice together nicely and somehow the notes do add a pimento vibe. I am enjoying this fragrance. Very inexpensive and long lasting with very good projection.

Really impressed with this one, reminds me of L'occitane Eau de Baux, but lasts much longer. Definitely has cadamom, and I feel cypress or pine - but the true, deep woody type, not the wunderbaum freshner type. Really nice scent, and lasts long, for this price it's definitely a win. Feeling tea notes on the drydown - like ananda chai. That next day musky drydown is making my knees weak!

It was a blind buy, I love Hermes Voyage Perfume and this is really close. I do not get why the rating of this masterpiece is below 4. This is an amazing perfume. I currently have sprayed all 4 perfumes which I just got on different sections of my arms and I only get the smell of this one. 9/10. Don't mind the negative comments.

@thatnakesscents I acquired my bottle through a swap and my experience is similar to yours. My liquid is clear and it smells very alcoholic off top. I was certain that it was fake. It’s very strong but it’s not a really pleasant scent. My bottle of Encre noir smells almost the same. Hmm maybe they were not the real deal.

Extremely surprised by the quality and the aristocratic spirit which is delivered by this excellent perfume. It seems to be felt like Hermes Voyage in richer edition. The spices are always on giving a fresh and expensive feeling, while guaiac wood keeps it luxurious. Great perfume in a vey low price. Totally worth!!!

This was a blind buy that didn’t disappoint me at all. It is a powerful spicy and warm fragrance, at the opening you fill a sharp pepper, later it is more woody and sweet but the spices are still there dominate until the end. A very pleasant smell with high longevity and projection.

The best from Ajmal hands down... And I own many from Ajmal including their expensive W collection. The longevity & projection are the best you can get from the listed notes. My bottle from 2015, so I don’t know about current formulation.

What a masterpiece. Quality oils in this juice. Smells much better in air than it does on skin. Long loasting and projects well. Got compliments firts time i wore it. This is worth way more than what it sells for. 10/10

This smells so good I fainted my grandma was crying she thought I had passed away. Man can’t get over how great this is. Each time I take a breath I feel like I’m floating. Just get it you won’t be disappointed

i hated this one at first but later i fell in love with this masterpiece by ajmal. bought it for 180 AUD i think few years ago from dubai duty free, and trust me it worths every single cent.

This is something special for me. It's simple, yet refined. A perfect everyday scent for my tastes. I think you could easily rock this year round as a signature scent.

Im falling in love at first sniff! Warm, spicy, musky as well. Bold and heavy smell make me think it is for man. Glad it is unisex.

Very similar to Le Labo between Noire 29 and Another 13.........yes it's very good.

I put this on in error this morning, I thought it was MYSTERY, realized my error but then also thought it was funny because I almost wore Bottege Veneta Pour Homme EDT and even Afnan Supremacy Noire, but opted (in thought) for something more casual. I realized after that this smells similar to Bottege Veneta, not a clone but similar profile. I came home and researched the notes, and was surprised (not surprised) to see they were not similar at all...Yeah this tends to be a thing for these houses. I then looked through the “Smells Like” and was completely confused, like really really confused at the comparisons. Next I was off to the reviews, and again very confusing? I did see some reference “Pine” and a nod to those reviews, because I get that vibe also. This is a clean, classy scent profile, very nice to my nose. It performs fairly well compared to the others I mentioned, but is on the soft side. I really enjoy this, and find the negativity towards it bizarre? I have no explanation to the widely varied reviews, I just got mine in the clear round bottle that resembles Mystery and Black Onyx, paid 35 Canadian dollars for it, and think it is well worth that price. I don’t know why it is compared to spicy and sweet scents, I just don’t get that. So for my bottle, it’s similar to Bottege Veneta Pour Homme, that’s all I can say. I could have just been lucky with my batch, or I am way off. I suspect I will buy another bottle, the price is low enough and the scent is solid. I do hope this helps people decide if they should risk the blind buy, I also hope it defines the scent profile but the heavily varied reviews make me wonder why it’s so different to so many people? In any case good luck fellow fragrance fiends.

Opens with bright cedar and citrus. Goes through an awkward stage as it develops with an unpleasant note occasionally peeking through. I think it is a mix of a spice, the very light dose of amber and the woods blooming in an odd way as it changes. Overall this reminds me most of a less stable, less well rounded Terre D'Hermes Parfum. They share an orangey citrus cedar and light amber character that is pleasant. Terre D'Hermes is more well rounded, classy and luxurious fragrance and it has a flint accord that I love. Ambre Pimente is less balanced and has a wild, untamed cedar. The kind that smells a bit different with each waft and smells like the outdoors. It has its charms. I received the Ajmal as a sample and though I prefer Terre D'Hermes Parfum for its class and well rounded blending, the cedar in this Ajmal is more like cedar out in the world. Wild and unrestrained in a way. Maybe not right for well rounded compositions but I like it. I have many positive scent associations with cedar. I enjoy the scent memories with this one.

The opening is an artisan botanical gin on the rocks -- boozy, clean, sophisticated—a crisp white shirt on a well-groomed man in their mid-30s. The gin evaporates in the dry down, the soft botanicals are left with a quiet and soft sweetness -- a free-flowing white top on a woman with her hair in the wind. Ambre Pimente lasts about 2 - 3 hours on skin, but much longer on clothes -- maybe 8 hours. It sits pretty close to the body, but it reaches my nose throughout the day, and I am always surprised at the softness and femininity from the powder and musk. It is quite the contrast from the masculine opening. This is a very wearable fragrance -- work, gym, casual, classy. It could be a signature scent. Sexy on a man, sophisticated on a woman.

Nose Note #532 This is a 5050 mix between Terre d'Hermes and Fendi Life Essence or Cartier Declaration. Performance is above average, but not like the ratings show, it's not a strong fragrance. I'd call it citrus centered with a big emphasis on spices. On opening and some minutes past it does not smell very good - a lot like a hair spray. And this hair spray association doesn't dissapear completely. It's unisex and maybe slightly leaning masculine. Honestly, a dissapointment for the money. I'm not sure about Voyage d'Hermes Parfum Hermès which I haven't tried. I don't think it's cloning anything. It's like Al Rehab Windy, but less airy, more spiced up and more performing. 6.5/10, OK, but not worth it

Wearing it now ,during a moderately warm day and it works well. This is a 4 seasons fragrance, for me and it can be worn day and night. The combination of cedar and musk is very well blended. This is about young cedar wood, irradiating fresh and citrusy. The musk sustains well the fresh woody note. Not much else to pick up for my nose made save he spices at the opening. If this fragrance had been more powerful it couldn't have been all year long, day and night one. I am pleased with it and it is a quite unusual scent. My signature for wearing at the office, this summer.

Ambre pimente is everything about citrus and pepper. I don’t smell the amber in this, and the smell is not warm or cozy. It is rather a summer fragrance than winter. I like the drydown the most, because it then smells like pine trees, like you’re in the woods. This is a very good fragrance, it’s also a very special one. Definitely not for everyone. I bought it blind and have the luck that I like this kind of frags. It reminds me a bit of the other Arabic brand, Rasasi, the Zebra. If you do own that one, don’t bother to buy this. They’re 80 % the same.

This had all the potential to be perfect for me (I’ve wanted it for ages) and although I really like it, it just misses the mark. I love how long it lasts and how it feels sparklingly with uplifting spices. The warm intro isn’t my favourite, as it reminds me (a little) of SJP’s ‘Stash’. I prefer once that passes and it becomes a glittering, sheer-spicy, uniquely unisex scent. It’s like a transparent veil of twinkling spice.

I have just received this perfume today. It smells great in what I'm concerned. Very spicy and suitable for chilli summer nights. It reminds me a lot of Hermes - Un Jardin en Meditéranée. It's special I would say. So, not recommended as a blind buy.

It is a delicate rosy and woody scent. Nothing unique and quite syntetic but it's well blended and smells nice. Office appropriate. I don't know why rose is not listed in the notes. Unisex and moderate silliage scent with moderate longevity.

It's good parfume, it's smells like dark night in the forest but unfortunately this one it's not in my taste,of course it have good notes but not for me, it's heavy and dark ,if it have version with vanilla and lavender it would be best.

This scent is absolutely divine! It's warm and inviting, with a perfect blend of spice and sweetness. I get compliments on it all the time. It lasts forever too!

It's a decent, slightly oriental, ROSE scent! Lasting power is good :) I like it!

Am I the only one who smells almost only a clean rose scent?

Honestly this smells identical to Rose Water to me. Like 1:1. I do like it but not sure for what occasion I'd want to smell like it. Maybe as a layer it would go nice with another fragrance. Score: 3/5

Lesson of the Blind Buy. I have bought blind many times and have more hits then misses. I think where I'm going wrong is I read Spice and think Chai latte, and what I wind up with is those "other" spices that I guess I don't like. What are they? Cumin? This one is a miss for me. It reminds me of Mancera Hindu Kush but far more wearable.

@Ourfrank Thank You for responding to my comment. Very helpful to know. I've dealt with these types of situations before and my hunch is : 1. It was never a great fragrance and just hyped here to get you to buy it. 2. It was reformulated 3. It is old stock/bad batch Neither one is a good outcome. You need to also remember these are "weird" fragrances that you can't go to Macy's or Bloomingdales to buy. There is a good reason for that ? You take a risk with these. My bottle is already in the trash. I would never gift it nor wear it. Just a silly impulse buy from me that should have gone to food versus my online shopping addiction :)

I tried 3 from Ajmal and by far this is the best one. It opens with Pepper and Cardamom, surprised Cardamom is not listed but it is definitely a big player here, I think it should replace the Guaiac in the notes, I don't get much of it. After a short while, Amber comes through followed by Cedar, I wouldn't say it evolves much and the spices stay till the end. It leans more masculine than feminine, being a female I will still wear it :) as Cardamom, Pepper and Cedar are some of my most favorite notes and I totally love this genre, the Fresh & Warm.

its a great scent. I bought this almost 2.5 years ago and i thought it was a bad buy. Now after that much time, i tried it today and i was pleasantly surprised by the quality of it. it is not an ordinary perfume but a niche quality. Maybe my nose is more mature now that i can acknowledge this category of perfume. it is creamy spicy, warm with great amber and cedarwood in the dry down. longevity is great as well. almost 7 hrs solid as i can sniff it clearly off my skin.

This is what I call a NONE fragrance. Beneath the thick layer of Alcohol is a pleasant peppery/spicy odor that could be even more interesting if it was LOUDER, but it isn't. No one will smell this including you unless you bury your nose INTO your skin. Even then the smell is FAINT. My bottle has water clear liquid and looks differently than the photo above. A waste of $45.

Today tested it, havnt bought and not going to. It smells like Kulfi, you know what is it? its an indian/pakistani icecream with a high dose of Cardamon, saffron and pistachio made in milk. So the spices note that are mentioned here are of that. The same note is used in TF Nior Extreme (Kulfi) so most probably they tried copying that. Performance is superb...
