Amir One

I just realized this would be my 100th review on this website 🥳🎉 and had to reserve it for something I recently found that I am truly astounded by. I know... how cringy to be celebrating that... But it's the little things y'know... Anyways, I have concluded Ajmal's Amir One is a refined blend of ingredients from their vault for their "W series" but it seems the quality of the blending and the quality of the ingredients have been upgraded and polished to be used in Amir One. If you're familiar with Ajmal's catalogue you can smell a DNA with a similar palette of ingredients used from their own trusted sources of ingredient distributors, and harvesters. Like Guerlain has its famous "Guerlainade" Ajmal has its own profile of ingredient palette and you can feel it in their fragrances. I am just speculating but I do smell a similar oud, lemon, ambergris, sandalwood, and ruh gulab (Rose Oil) used in Amir One that has been used in releases such as Hatkora Wood, Amber Wood Noir and Rose Wood but these definitely smell sharper (with the exception of Amber Wood Noir which is extremely well-done) and less polished than Amir One. All genius creations but honestly I would say the "W series" retail is a tad overpriced even though I honestly love all of the ones I've smelled so far. The ingredients in them are natural and scream quality but the blending, the execution just needed a little more tweaking to smell less jagged so they could be flawless creations. Amir One is the tweak that was needed to prove to me Ajmal had it in them all along to bring out the very best of their ingredients. They are going to be unstoppable if they can continue with this blending and quality. On par with the Rasasi Boruzz line, Abdul Karim Al Faransi ouds and Adbul Samad Al Qurashi, Al Qurashi blend and their other luxury heritage creations. Amir One is stunningly polished the ingredients blend together nicely for a smooth and meditative experience. The oud from Amir One goes on citric, herbal and tangy with the ingredients of lemon, lavender and rose, slowly become a lit flame developing a realistic smoky presence as if one was warming real oud chips and luban resins on a bakhoor burner. In my opinion what I truly smell throughout the fragrances lifespan is a burning, juicy and tart, lemony, high quality, oud and salty, sparkling, ambergris, with a creamy, earthy, animalic sandalwood similar to that in Ajmal's Santal Wood but more polished and muted with a spicy lavender supporting the oud and installing some alluring herbal kick. Very high quality natural ingredients indeed. It has the aspects to be a fougère, but overall isn't a fougère since it has a more oriental focused backbone and minimal soapiness if any at all. It is however very refreshing and bright in its profile which is unique for an oud-centered fragrance. Al Fareed by Arabian oud has similarities to Amir One's identity as a fresh and bright oud but they have nothing else in common. Your scent brings a calming and spiritual atmosphere when wearing Amir One and I am not just saying that. In my first real wearing of this the random comments I got were "It smells religious" or "It smells like people are performing sacred rites". To me it was mind-blowing to find that even Christians find something religious about this formula and they do not realize how correct they are. As people do say about these polarizing types of fragrances - "your milage may vary" - but I can't stress enough how much of a meditative experience this fragrance is to wear. My First Review — and What a Fragrance to Begin With.. I’ve held off on writing reviews here on Fragrantica, saving my first for something truly exceptional. Amir One by Ajmal is that fragrance. Crafted by none other than Amiruddin Ajmal himself—the Chairman of the house. As Ajmal’s own blog notes, “Each drop is a testament to Mr. Mohd. Amiruddin Ajmal's 50 plus years of experience,” and I can confidently say they’re not exaggerating. I won’t delve into the note breakdown—you can find that easily here—but I’ll tell you what this scent feels like: regal, opulent, fresh, wearable year-round, & dripping with Quality. If another house had released this, they’d likely charge 10 times the price. This is, hands down, one of the most beautiful perfumes I’ve ever encountered. The ingredients are of the highest caliber—the finest oud, florals, and oils—each element feels hand-selected with care, just as Ajmal describes. It’s the kind of scent that makes you want to gatekeep, yet I hope it becomes a bestseller so they never stop making it. (Yes, I’ve already stocked a backup bottle.) What’s fascinating is how every single reviewer I watched had the same expression of awe—before even getting into the notes. That collective admiration convinced me to make this my first-ever blind buy, and it exceeded all expectations. This fragrance has been a series of firsts for me: — My first review — My first blind buy — And the first scent I deemed worthy of gifting to my father. A man who usually prefers fresh, lighter scents, even he loves it, and now reserves this one for special occasions. The presentation deserves a mention too. It comes in a beautiful, handcrafted wooden box—the only perfume in my collection that still lives in its original packaging. Using it feels like an event in itself. To borrow the words of Mr. Abdullah Ajmal, current CEO of Ajmal, “It celebrates you in every sense, through its essence.” That couldn’t be more accurate. In the end, Amir One is more than just a fragrance. It’s a celebration—of perfumery, of legacy, and when you apply it, it celebrates you & touches your inner being. Praise be to God who inspired his creation with the ability to craft such beauty in scent.

I don't find this smells like Heritage, nor do I find it performs badly or is redundant if you own Amir Two, I own both. On the performance, do people let their fragrances sit for a couple of days after the first spray before they start moaning online about performance? Yes, the first time I wore it two days ago it seemed to disappear quickly, but I wore it today and it lasted eternally, projecting strongly for hours, and I could still smell it after two hours of strenuous exercise and a shower. This is my experience with many perfumes. Only the most obnoxiously beast-mode chemicals perform consistently from the first spray. If I had to compare Amir One to anything it would be Ma Liberté by Patou. The creamy sandalwood and lavender combo is very similar, though of course here we also have oud. In my book this makes Amir One a strong love for me, as I absolutely adore Ma Liberté, but I appreciate the Ajmal twist, and given that there are no perfumes I know of that smell like either of these two, I reckon that makes Amir One pretty unique. It doesn't smell like Khallab (which I also own and love) or any other Ajmal perfumes beyond having the Ajmal oud DNA. It certainly doesn't smell anything like any of the frequently cited scents on this page when I wear it on my skin. This is a one in a millon quality oud wonder, and if it were marketed by the likes of Frederic Malle people would pay 10 times more for it. As it stands the price makes it insanely good value. For the record I bought mine from a discounter so it's probably a more recent batch.

Opens very fresh and aromatic with hints of lemon over a creamy, woody and slightly oudy base. I don't think the oud in here will be too much to handle for non oud lovers but I personally really like Hindi oud on its own so it can be hard for me to judge what others might be put off by. As the top notes fade, it's hard for me to personally pick out any of the floral notes individually but there is definitely something there that gives off a creamy floral incense vibe with hints of lemon Around the 2 hour mark, most of the aromatic, citrus and floral elements have faded and you are left with a soft, ambery and woody base with soft hints of something lemony. Coming from someone who generally enjoys more natural smelling perfumes, this one has enough of a natural feel to satisfy me. Although, there is definitely a strong synthetic note throughout this perfume, which brings to mind commercial western fragrances. I have a bit of a love hate relationship with this note, but I would say that it definitely gives the fragrance a bit of a younger, more modern touch. I would feel comfortable wearing this perfume in pretty much any weather/situation. Although I haven't tried it in extremely hot and humid weather, I still think it would work fine. Can be worn morning or night. I think this could safely be worn to the office, date night, hell I'd even be okay wearing this to a night club. I give this fragrance an overall 8/10. For versatility 9/10 as I feel comfortable wearing this in most situations.

Ajmal has absolutely ascended with this release... I will smell premium in comparison to anyone who wears Roja, Ormonde Jayne, Dior, or even Xerjoff interpretations of oud. You have to experience it to believe it... This one is regal, an imperial experience in fragrant form. Premium, real, smooth oud that will be CHALLENGING to western noses but blended with the most detailed consideration almost as if a perfectionist was involved. As an art creator myself I can imagine even at this level of impeccability the mind behind the creation of this fragrance was still unsatisfied. I will live a few weeks more in this divine potion for note-taking and will be back with more. The message in its box teases a collection of these. What in the world does Ajmal have in store for us...

Very nice, elegant juice. To me it's Ajmal's take on a classic Fougere, similar to Clubman Pinaud or Houbigant Fougere Royale. All of which have a powdery, lavender and light wood dry down. On me it took four sprays to get it to lift off my skin and project a bit. Crispy and bright, yet a very light opening, which encouraged me to put more on but wasn't needed. After one hour, I could tell it was a winner, as it changed from a citrus blast to as another blogger stated a " powdery, zesty, greenish, musk". Not much oud to my nose and this isn't a new concoction. However, it is well done and long lasting. I am glad for my blind buy. Adding this to my summer rotation of barbershop scents. Scent 7/10, Longevity 8/10, Sillage 7/10

Lavender, citruses with a beautiful combo of ambergris and a gentle real oud at the bottom. Not complex at all. This really feels elegant and high class, but somehow you can wear everywhere and everytime. The oud is so easy to use and the way that support the other notes is stunning. I'm amazed by this perfume. The quality of blending and ingredients are absolutely top notch. Presentation is flawless. This is the kind of juice that any luxury house would charge you 500USD at least... at least. Projection is soft but decent longevity. 9/10... It would be perfect with more projection. I hope they add Amir Two to the database, which is another stunner.

East meets West. This is Indian Oud with the edges softened. Its slightly animalic but not fecal. Indian Oud, Citrus, Lavender. Its really well done. Kinda an oud fougere hybrid. I just got it, here in October in the northeast so is 40-60F. Easily wearable in this weather but I can't wait till summer to try it out in the summer heat. Based current weather: great scent, seems to last the work day, projection seems to sit pretty close. My gut says heat will tease out more projection but only time will tell.

I don't know how it's done so perfectly but it's a barnyard fecal oud made... Fougere. Opens up very stanky, similar to Xerjoff Luxor's type of Oud, then as it dries down the similarities of things like YSL Jazz and Pasha Cartier start to develop. But still with that incredible Oud undertone. It definitely smells like real oud, and it's blended to absolute perfection. That very fecal opening is blended with citrus and lavender to make an incredible middle eastern fougere. 10/10

This might be the best oud in my collection. I have many from the bigs like Ensar , Agar Aura, Rasasi, Bortnikoff,ALD,. This is very special. All of the reviews I've read on here have been accurate . Thanks all of you for your descriptions they helped me be confident as I blind bought it. Zero regrets. Amir Two is on the way. It should be a treat . Cheers

Such a beautiful oud scent, a stunner worth every cent. Definitely real oud, slightly animalic and funky in the opening, it's mainly oud from start to finish. Other notes are just nuances for me apart from the sweet finish.

To my nose this a lot of similarity with Guerlain Heritage EDT. Layer Khadlaj Mystic Indian Oud with Guerlain Heritage EDT and you get Ajmal Amir One. Thank me later

I'm standing in the meadow, a farmer is spreading manure, the wind is blowing in my face. Then everything settles down. Magic happens in the air, fantastic.

It's just wow at the price. Could compete with niche level perfume. Though performance is good but could have been better if improved

It literally smells like creed royal oud but unisex and with an authentic Indian oud smell

I got this one as a present from my brother who was coming from dubai. my first reactions upon spraying were like any other middle eastern oud based perfume blast but the oud used in this is purely high quality, one can easily detect the natural ingredient. Later it settles down to a much mass pleasing scent which projects within an arms distance for about 2 to 3 hours in summer time giving you whiffs of something lemony mixed with musk kindda vibe. I was really enjoying the scent till i decided to check on its price and bam 630 dirhams for 50 ml around 180$... lol i mean its not a bad release but one can find many better options in that price bracket. Never the less it screams niche and will now be only used on special occasions. Edit 27/1/22 this stuff is magical in winters. Have made some great memories. It can do tricks on people. kid you not

Whoa give it ten minutes before exposing others to it has a pungent odor perhaps I got junk from EBay? Sillage and longevity moderate, not even a skin scent at six hours. Would I put down a couple hundred plus again? Nope. As for the Ouders on here let me tell ya Mathilde Laurent has created a masterpiece with Cartier's High Perfumery. Give LES HEURES VOYAGEUSES OUD & SANTAL a try.

The scent of a Maharaja. Real high quality Indian oud with creamy citruses and florals, the gentler notes balance out the oud perfectly. The oud in this is more medicinal than barnyardy, nothing cheesy, animalic, or faecal. Deep, rich and dense but still fresh, versatile and wearable all year round. This amount and quality of oud for this price is amazing, it's not cheap but great value for what it is. Projection is poor but that's oud for you, it evaporates very slowly and is more intimate but I prefer that, I wouldn't want this to enter a room before me. A real hidden gem.

Amir one by ajmal. The fragrance is good. 15 mins fresh and citrusy and eventually rose and oud but u do get a hint of oud with the first spray. Generally, 6-8 sprays to be noticed. Longevity is poor and projection is an hour and then stays on the skin for a another hour or so. Write a nice review

on me, it's gone in 3-4 hours, love the scent tho

Hmm.. yeah not so sure that this is worth 100€ to be quite honest. I dont get any florals and barely any citrus or any other woods. I’ve heard from a fraghead that they reformulated this intensively, and they only learned this by getting an older sample comparing to a more recent bottle. All i get is a basic dehn al oud that could have been done by swiss arabian or khadlaj (no disrespect to both houses which i love) - but for 100€ i expected infinitely more. If youre thinking of getting this or the amir two in 2025, just go with the two. Its way more unique, animalic, ravishing and daring. This one here isnt even as polite and clean as people describe. Its just a dehn al oud fragrance.

Reformulation has destroyed this beautiful scent. No citrus or lavender but oud only at this high price. Little bit floral at the dry down. No projection at all. I bought the 08/2023 batch and had to return it.

Very high quality, fresh, fine oud fougere type of a fragrance. Which is not a very common theme. One can feel the perfumer ( the head of Ajmal company ) is not messing around. Well composed, smooth It feels very classy, masculine yet with a modern touch and even feminine elements making it absolutely unisex. It is not challenging like many other Ajmal blends. With a light touch of good natural Hindi oud in the base. Crispy and bright opening making me want to overspray ( finished my bottle in 1-2 month). Manly blend of lavender, lemon, sage and bergamot is very refreshing and delicious. Heart has a very classical French feel to it with a typical rose ( can feel expensive ruh gulab used here), jasmine ( probably Indian sambac absolute) and Indian creamy sandalwood all finely blended. Lilly giving it that feminine nuance making the fragrance 100% unisex. Base is delicately oriental with a right amount of oud that feels quite clean being polished with resinous amber accord and a touch of musk. One of the best, highest quality and easiest to wear perfumes by Ajmal. They really do stepping their game up slowly but surely!

Bought this despite the warnings about performance. Let me assure you this is a quiet scent. It's exactly the same as ajmal khallab, that is a fraction is it's price. Khallab lasts longer, is louder and more daring. Amir one is no doubt of the best quality, but very quiet and subdued. If you're not a collector and want both, I'd much recommend amir 2, which is much more unique and inviting. Don't get me wrong this one is nice. It's just available and better at a cheaper cost. I have 3 backup bottles of ajmal khallab, this scent profile is that good. Also worth mentioning that while this has a smooth oud note, amir two has a burnt oud note. Edit: my ajmal khallab, which is a fraction of the price is much better in terms of performance and oomph. It's oud comes across as more rounded and stingy. I've emptied 3 bottles of it. This, not so much.

I read that people are complaining about longevity and sillage??? If they are for real they reformulated Amir one. I bought this perfume 3 years ago and it is absolutely NUCLEAR!! Actually so much that it is the prominent reason i don't wear it in public:) This perfume is for my guilty pleasure only, i just sprayed it on my skin to see if it macerated badly since i haven't used it for at least 8 months but no it still projects almost beyond comfort. It is art in a bottle, the oud used is of the finest of the finest, not over animalistic but subtil and just pure quality.

Just got it in and it's sitting 30 min on my skin. I can already tell you the quality of the oud oil used is very high, but you have to love oud:) The oud used is not the harsh super animalic barnyard kind of oud and is very well blended, but my nose picks it up as the most prominent note. It reminded me of the oud note in Dunhill Icon Absolute amped up times10 without all the other notes. I couldn't see myself wearing this in alot of different ocassions though, but it is straight up art in a bottle.

Starts off with a blast of real oud, lavender and lemon but soon the florals are taking over this modern oriental fougere along with the creamy sandalwood. Drydown is fantastic. Oud, amber, sandalwood, vanilla and gentle musk. Got it for 50€ From discounters. I will only tell one thing. If this has been released by Roja or Fragrance du Bois it would cost 500-600€ for 50 ml bottle.

Tried this at the friendly Ajmal shop yesterday. It's an exceptional fragrance and oud isn't overpowering other ingredients. An oriental perfume with the right french touch. Presentation is stunning. This is a woodsy amber is tamed by florals. Try it

Masterpiece. The oud tightropes between barnyard and round. Apply like fifteen minutes before you leave your house. The dry down is a magical, Emirati experience. Ultimate luxury for the price.

Amir one Ajmal. Classy fragrance. Almost an arabic chypre or fougere of sorts. Citris, florals, creamy musky finish with woody oudy undertones. World class.

I can feel the top quality of Rose with the most premium Oud oil in that. A complete oriental perfume for 2025
