Dahn Al Oudh Jazaab

I will say what a hidden gem. I bought it for 50 euros, what is awesome price for this smell. Trained oud nose will probably say that can feel some synthetics or something else in it, but for me its quite natural smelling oud. You cant find lot of information about this oil fragrance, which is selling as concentrated perfume oil which include cambodian and hindi oud oil, so dont expect pure high quality oil and they are not selling it like that. Im looking on it more as mukhallat than western type of concentrated perfume, but its just definitions. On the packaging its saying its free from alcohol, but at the same time its saying alcohol included, what is somehow confusing me if is that more perfume or oil, or just diluted oil with alcohol without any other synthetics. What the Ajmal did answer me, they are using cinnamyl alcohol, and this kind of aromatic alcohol also adding some extra “flavor” to this blend. So with this kind of alcohol are their products halal. You cant find the exact ratio between oil and alcohol, but maybe you dont need to dig deeper into it to experience its own beauty and mainly pure oud smell. At this price point its really fair product, great value. The liquid have nice brown color and its quite resinous. Smell itself is like cambodian oud as top note and hindi as base. How time pass the cambodian profile weakens and hindi is more and more present. The profile is very linear with moderately weak barnyard and very good longevity about 10 hours. How i said before, i bought it for 50 euros what is incredible good quality for this price, only negative thing about it is that plastic cheap cup. This can be really good starting point if you are interested in oud, wanna be close as much as possible to real oud and not in the western type reinterpretation of oud. Thus far, this was my favorite oud oil ever! My bottle ran out recently. I might have to get another soon. It definitely smells of real oud, that seems to have had genius tweakings/enhancements done to it, here and there (it has a beautiful, bright, citrus like shape above the leather, olives, umami, spicy vibes).

I can definitely smell the blend of cambodian and hindi oud in this oil, yes it's not the best quality oud oil you can find but for the price wow it's just unbelievable, i prefer this one over Saif al Hind... but that's my personal taste.

I just started the oud journey, so my nose is not trained to pick up many of the distinctions in this incredible substance. That said, in the opening this smells like the final phase of Dahn Oud al Shams: it skips the medicinal, camphorous opening of al Shams and goes straight for the earthy base notes. After some time. a faint rose pokes its head through the dry soil to give the fragrance a small lift.

This starts with a fruity, musky, barnyard-y oud that then transforms into a spicy, somewhat medicinal, austere wooden oud accented with a gorgeous pale rose. Elements of the fruit, wood and rose play off each other for the life of the creation. It creates an exceptional, peaceful, still cloud of magic around the wearer. The magic definitely outweighs any of the individual notes, so I hesitate to define it as a spicy oud or a medicinal oud because the experience of wearing Jazaab is more about the combined effect of all the notes. This is a masterfully blended perfume with stages of development. The fruity, musky notes are for the first ten minutes, then a transparent cloud of oud effect--this austere dark wood lifted by a gorgeous aura of pale rose, a hint of medicinal spice and musk--surrounds the wearer. Projection is at least a foot for many hours--I get about five-- then more and more a skin scent where the wood dominates. About eight hours in the elements combine to create the smell of a lightly floral rose leather, still very prominent and powerfully perfumed but in a different way than the previous stages. Smelling Jazaab close up is different from the effect It has around the wearer as with most oud perfumes. This is definitely unisex, and also for the more experienced oud fan who understands what they are getting. Fantastic.

I got this as a free sample. And this was my first oud. And I was told by Ajmal people that this had the famous combodi oud. I did try this after a few days and my initial reaction was "This is ok. Why on earth someone would pay money to smell like this?" Later on I read about how a liking for oud has to be cultivated and I applied this a number of times and now I enjoy this. This one is like taking a walk in the forest after a rain when you can smell the earth and there you smell the freshly cut bark of a tree. A friend said that this smelled a bit like sandelwood and very pleasent. Ajmal offers excellent products at very reasonable prices and they are liberal with samples too. So get a small sample, apply a bit on both the wrists (without making the mistake of rubbing them) and take a walk in a rain forest. This one is sans the barnyard, so called stink. And I have read a warning that once you try pure agarwood oil then there is no return.

this is what people call strong oud =) plenty of fermented fruits and woods that settles on skin and release warm, sweet, funky aroma after a while. aroma that make people crazy... some becomes blind because they love it ... others because they cant stand it =)
