Gray

Gray defines this scent perfectly. I really do think of an overcast of grey clouds over a rocky terrain with sparce moss covering each stone. Every note is pretty much in perfect balance, with the amber and moss being the only notes that I can clearly define. It's masculine and gentle. It's earthy and airy. Notes of spice linger in it's prominent freshness. Leather and amber work in harmony with it's floral notes, dancing between rugged and delicate. Gray is inoffensive, and could be considered casual. But as an EDP, it has real projection if you saturate yourself with it. (six to ten sprays) To the contrary of the seasonal consensus, I find winter to be highly recommendable. It performs well in the cold, but I would say it shines best during fall and spring. Five or six hours of performance, followed by its scent clinging to your clothes the next day. This is easily an everyday, practically any occasion, fragrance. Gray is certainly unique. I can't really compare it to anything I've owned or smelled before. Different may not always be a good thing, but it most assuredly is in this instance. This is where mountains meet the classy stranger on a cloudy day. An absolute keeper that has found its way to my favorites. Edit: After wearing this for the last several days, I'm surprised cardamom isn't listed in the notes. Maybe my nose tricks me.

If you love “modern” profile fragrances, this one will interest you. The fragrance is proudly synthetic. Grey is a good name for it: a shroud of velvety, smooth, undefined scent slowly emerges after the initial blast of alcohol. It’s difficult to determine exactly what notes make this work, but it really is quite pleasant. It starts out like it will simply evolve into something generic, nothing special; but then interesting layers start to emerge. A bit of spice, a little floral, somewhat clean leather underneath. All of these notes in no way resemble any natural ingredients, but more like concepts of them, quite subtle and never becoming dominant. It stays quite light but persistent. Ajmal gives us a great cheapie for most any setting: Modern, inoffensive, and masterfully avoids nondescript blah zone with just enough going on to keep the interest. By the way- other *more expensive* fragrance houses should ask Ajmal where they source their atomizers. This one is amazing

Never smelled Montabaco, But from it's description I decided to purchase this cheapie Ajmal Gray and wow it's one of the most positive surprises ever. This is airy, and gives you and impression of a fresh mountain air. It has some woods and greens and all the notes listed as well but for me this is just clean, fresh airy scent. Never smelled anything like that it's way more natural than Burberry touch thanks to green notes. Another one it reminds me of is dolce gabbana the one grey, as again it's airy and GRAY. It's a different perfume but the vibes are somehow there and I will not lie the quality is amazing! To me it's on par with Burberry and D&G when it comes to raw materials quality and that's what surprises me even more, achieving an unique scent as well

This is so good! Especially for the price. Smelling side by side with OJ Montabaco, it's very close. I do get a very brief alcohol smell on first spray but it's gone almost immediately. Grey has an almost Tygar like citrus sweetness to it while Montabaco may be slightly more woody in the dry down but besides that it's very close. Beautiful tobacco leaf and cardamom! I'll probably have this in my collection forever.

A nice office and daily scent. I’m not sure why, but it reminds me of Déclaration by Cartier (1998), with an oriental twist. The only problem is that it’s kinda weak and doesn’t last. However, I think reapplying and overspraying would help, as it’s very gentle and smooth on the nose and not cloying at all. Overall: 7/10.

Earthy, mossy with a touch of floral, green notes to balance the deepness. Eau de Parfum version which makes it long lasting and it has a stunning atomiser. Overall, it is a unique masculine scent which can be picked up for good price but seems like only from a few discounters. I hope this gem won't be discontinued.

EDIT: after a few months of maceration, it went almost a beast mode - longevity 10+ on skin, on clothes days. This has a pleasant, clean shaving foam scent. It performs average, but you can significantly boost its performance by applying it on clothes. Has a great atomiser too. Worth every penny.

I have just received it; I like it so far. I haven't tried Montabaco. It has some hints of Kenzo power though. On a side note; I was really impressed with the atomizer...it's far better than most of the ones used in the designer bottles.

Updated review: Longevity is awesome, while projection and sillage is not bad. I ordered another bottle because this thing is really nice and addictive. This time I will give it: 8/10.

Having over 170 clones I'm not into buying another weak frag, but i heard someone say this is good enough to justify the buy and treat it like a short 'treat' for yourself so i pulled the trigger and I agree. If you like your tea in the frags just get it at this stupid price it sells (~10 euro for me). When i will be reducing my collection this might be one of few short lasting/weak projecting frags i will keep. Can't give a 'love' rating for weak performing frags but know the smell itself deserves top rating. P.S.: Tobacco? I’ve just opened this bottle (14 months after production) and I don’t smell any tobacco, unless it’s tobacco leaves? But honestly, I don’t really know how they’re supposed to smell, so I can’t tell if that’s them or just tea leaves. And that’s only because I’m actively trying to find some kind of tobacco note - without overthinking it, nothing here gave me a “tobacco” impression at all. More like black Lipton tea (maybe Earl Grey) with tobacco. (Actually, I just realized that the name “Gray” might come from that - Earl Grey xd)

Tea+Citruses+Cardamom. Very nice office friendly scent. I haven’t smelled Ormonde Jayne, but that citrus note is similar to Bvlgari’s Tygar. Projection and longevity is poor, but it is very cheap frag.

Its a surprise scent for me fresh and clean, for my nose its like blue fragrance EDIT: smells like a Bvlgari Tygar mixed with spices

Everything good you read about this frag is correct. Only disappointment is how faint the smell is. You hardly notice it, nobody knows that you wearing a cologne. I know some self made experts would say, "A PERFUME NEED NOT BE BEAST MODE, TO BE A GOOD ONE". Bullshit. the wearability is zero, it doesn't serve the purpose. Even if it's cheap or free, it doesn't make sense to me.

Personally im not a big fan, very weird mell. Its just a spicy, woody flora scent. The opening is a little harsh, very spicy and like a synthetic cleaner vibe, the dry down is spicy (definitely cardamom) green airy, woody. Not bad but nothing to write home about.

Right out of the box, Ajmal Gray opened with a bright, sparkling blast of citruses that immediately reminded me of the Tygar DNA. Fresh, energetic, and clean. In the first few wears, the dry-down settled into a more woody base, maintaining that crisp freshness but adding a subtle depth. After about two months, the fragrance has shifted noticeably. The citrus top notes have softened, and now I pick up more pepper and a clearer tea note(I know it’s not listed) , which gives it a refined and slightly aromatic edge. It has become smoother and more balanced with time. Interestingly, the performance has improved as well the projection feels stronger and the longevity is noticeably better than when it was brand new. Overall, this is a perfect daily fragrance non-offensive, versatile, and easy to wear in any situation. I’ve received several compliments, especially during casual outings and office days.

Gingery, elegant, both classic and modern freshness, with a breathful of smokey, oudi, leather. Dry woods and white florals. Very, very nice uplifting comfort-scent. I'm totally impressed. Big like! UPDATE: As time goes by it becomes more gingery and citrusy, still very beautiful. UPDATE 2: I identified the woody-grapefruity notes as "gingery". UPDATE 3: After 2 years of maceration it has a very nice, cold soapy freshness.

Smells good and well blended but like the majority of ajmal perfumes, disappointing projection and longevity. Does not last more than 30 minutes

I really like it, very fresh and versatile. Really reminds me of Vetiver Musc by Narciso Rodriguez.

To me it smells like Murdock London Vetiver. If you like that one this is your lower cost option.
