Hatkora Wood

This is a smoky, dark oud, with a somewhat bitter, dry citrus accord and alluring powderiness. I was expecting a clearer lemon note than I got, which is fine by me. The oud here is so deep and powerful, not medicinal or sharp at all. I suspect it is not synthetic oud (at least in the batch I got). Smelling it, I experience heady, exotic incenses and decadence. Bold, low-key aggressive, industrial, yet still refined, this fragrance needs the right personality. I can imagine it being too intense for some. I, however, really love it. Masculine-leaning unisex, though I wear it proudly. It firmly falls into the category of "beast mode" fragrances. The longevity is unreal, with just one spray *on my skin*-- it lasted more than 12 hours. The scent develops quickly and remains pretty linear. Funny note: Hatkora Wood is now the personal fragrance of my Caucasian shepherd, who selected a sample of it from a large lineup and rolled all over it in an effort to perfume himself with it. I'd say that's a strong endorsement from a keen a discerning nose. A note on batches: My bottle is from 5/2019. Some reviews of 2020 batches suggest there was a bad batch, which seems likely-- or possibly a proliferation of counterfeits at that time. I suspect there may have been shortages of the fragrance's usual ingredients in 2020 that affected quality. I just recently bought my bottle from a retailer, so earlier, excellent versions are still available.)

#1462 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant. Ajmal consistently has one thing going for it: quality. Solid all day longevity and powerful sillage are what comes to mind when I think of Ajmal. The potency of this scent is likewise impressive. There are a lot of scents out there with all these notes but without the haktora and peach. The hint of lemon here is not the dry and screechy sour of a L'eau d'Issey or Acqua di Gio, but smooth and pleasant. I honestly can't detect the peach note. Mostly a ton of saffron, amber and mild woods. I think a birch note would really have set this off. But it's a great scent with a potency you usually get only by adding myrrh and olibanum. If you have Pana Dora's "Oud Republic", Lattafa "Ra'ed Oud" or "Khalta Blend", Montale "Aoud Lavender", Molinard "Cuir Eau de Parfum", Nicolai Parfumeur Createur "Amber Oud", Afnan "Edict Ouddiction", Fragrance World "Ameer Al Oud Arabian Noir", you've kinda already got this covered. I own half of these, have tried them all, and the potency of this Ajmal scent smokes all of that competition. It lasts all day long and into the next day, but because it's more saffron than oud, and contains no incense, it's certain to get noticed but probably without offending anyone. Definite bottle buy for me.

11/11/2025: This is an outstanding fragrance!!! It's very unique to my collection as I have nothing that smells like this. Over the few weeks I've had this, the longevity and performance has improved significantly. Before, I had to bury my nose into my arm to smell it after 6 hours. Now, it effortlessly carries for about 9 to 10 hours. I've never had a sandalwood fragrance like this, much less the Haktora lemon accord. That punch of woodiness that may have came off slightly funky is gone, although it didn't bother me. I'm wearing this in pretty cold weather today and it's charging full steam ahead. The notes I get that are most prominent are the hatkora lemon, sandalwood, ginger, and musk. The smell is congruent on blotter and clothes as well as the skin...but something a lil extra for the skin. A breathtakingly gorgeous Citrus Oud fragrance unlike anything I have seen in modern perfumery, this bright and lively juice showcases the potency of semi-wild citrus (Hatkora) oil which is primarily grown in Northeastern India, an amazingly potent fruit peel that yields an amazingly haunting oil never before used in perfumery. This beauty opens with the gorgeous Hatkora lemon (stays throughout period of perfume) and peach and then proceeds to a brief middle comprising of rose, ginger, saffron and lavender before settling into a powdery and somewhat animalic base with Oud, ambergris, musk, and amber with the lemon still potently hanging firmly in the mix. The combination of the Hatkora lemon with the Oud is so unique and so refreshing which makes this one Oud scent you can easily wear in hot and sultry weather. This is a stunner. Love at first sniff. So easy to use! I'm not a big fan of citruses, but this hatkora note is just marvelous. The robust woody base is perfectly balanced with the top notes and the spices give an intoxicating aromatic nuance. The sweetness of saffron is the perfect addition to this concoction. I think sandalwood and musk are very prominent with some other pungent woods. I can ́t smell any oud to be honest. There's an ambergris undertone so gorgeous! This note reminds me a lot of Amir One from the same house. Hatkora Wood sometimes smells clean, sometimes smells dirty, but always smells good. So good. I think it's a signature scent worthy. Good projection, excellent sillage and longevity. Versatility at its best. 10/10 for me. PS: My girlfriend loves it... and my dad tried to stole it from me! lol

Its Starts off Strong Notes of Citrus especially Hatkora then mixes with Woody Notes especially Amberwood & Sandalwood, I don't get agarwood probably toned down. Great Smell & Excellent Compliment Getter and Performance and Longevity is Great. Prominent & Strong Notes are Hatkora, Amberwood, Sandalwood & Lavender. Ajmal has good reputation blending ingredients v well, Its is my personal opinion. It is one of top 10 ten summer scents. Projection & Sillage is Beast, Perfume stay for 7 to 8 hours depending on skin & climate where you live. Here in UAE & Gulf It Projects more than 7 Hours. Got this perfume after consulting Reputed Frag Head & Good Friend Nikhil. Packing & Presentation is Good. My Rating is 4.2 out of 5.

Now I ve spent a lot of time with this brilliant gem from Ajmal. A stunning, unique, occidental creation for the global connoisseurs of serious perfumery. A top qualify unique fragrance with bright dense bergamot laced with sweet luscious fruit accord, sweet amber, dense sandalwood. I dont pick up any Oud. One of the few true orientals which everyone can wear comfortably in any weather but best in high heat or spring. A 100 ml bottle can be passed on over generations lol. The longevity is off the roof. It was also given a nod by the much respected nose and blogger Kafkaesque. One of the best Niche scents.

My husband reviews fragrances on YouTube by the name of Smelly Cat. He has around 450 odd bottles, most from the Middle East. This is the one he loves the most. This is the one I love smelling on him the most. He has Joop Nightlife too. Those saying they are similar are not entirely wrong. But this one is way better quality, almost unique, smells richer, more expensive and has beast-mode projection and longevity. Joop Nightlife is 20% similar at most. Citrus scents are notoriously casual leaning. You dont generally wear citrus scents to black tie events but this is that scent and there are few others in this space. Burlington 1819 fits as a versatile citrus scent that smells regal and refined despite the citric notes. I love this one. The depth and scope of these type scents will always have a space in my collection. I definitely see this as a unisex frag. Dressed up or down. Lasts! And sillage is beastly!! 4.4/5

If you don’t buy this right now you’ll definitely regret it later. Ajmal perfumes are the best I’ve ever come across. Layering Amber-wood and Hatkora-wood together is mind blowing. The W series is meant to be layered if you don’t layer them you’re missing out. I highly recommend buying the entire series you will not regret it. Smell good for days if you don’t like to shower no worries just spray this on and you’re good for a while.

Hatkora Wood is pure unknown jewel..i heard it form frag diaries and cos i trust him i blind buy it...its perfect with different lemon (hotkora) woody combination...its perfeclty well blended.I dont know why so few people know it.its longetivy and sillage are perfect too..i probably use this hidden gem for long time...10/10

This is very good and fairly unique. It's does lasts for about 8 hours but after the first 2 hours, it sits closer to the skin. Maybe it will get stronger as it sits, but the smell is amazing. A very smooth sandalwood with that hatkora lemon in the background. Well blended. Will give Overall assessment after a few weeks.

I love it and makes me day-dreaming! It is really masterpiece and my favorite from the Ajmal wood creations. Hatkora lemon (or its wood) is so rare and I know it from this perfume. It is zesty at its opening, but the dry down is very creamy and comforting. And it lasts, lasts, lasts...

Very strong citrus oud. It is stronger than most synthetic citruses out there, yet I can confirm the authenticity & purity of the ingredients as I’m allergic to most of chemical notes. Simply dry citrus layered with pungent oud... Batch 2019, performance & longevity are extreme.

Sillage monster on this very unique and alluring musky lemon scent. I love this and it leaves a strong trail hours after its sprayed, a must own IMHO

How is the longevity of the recent batches? I have the 2019 decant and it lasts all day. Heard 2020 batches are weak.. can anybody confirm on this?

My second buy from this company. They have some really nice fragrances. Upon first, or second spray, you'll be getting a seriously STRONG Lemon scent. It seems synthetic with something that seems kinda sharp and metallic, kinda like a zinger. I don't mind that but others thought it was too much. That instant hit does start to fade at around the 15 min mark for me and You can still get that decent hit of Lemon but the metallic and synthetic is mellowed out then once the middle notes come through, it dissipates a little more. Those middle notes give me a really nice Lemon and Amber scent. Base notes are nice but I don't smell too much, if any oud in it. As someone else said, "The drydown is where it starts to get really really good. Heavy woody and dark fragrance." I agree with that 100% Decent price point and as with all their products, excellent packaging. NGL here but it won't be for all. It's something that you really should try before a buy. Lasts just ok for me 3 hours and then gone and the sillage is just ok on me. Got a discount on mine so the price was awesome for a brand-new bottle from a reputable dealer. I'm hoping that the juice will become a bit longer lasting and have much better sillage after sitting for a month. Edit 5/13/26. I've had this a while now. What's interesting is that not only has it grown on me and seems to have mellowed out with the screechy metallic /synthetic initial boost, it's become much nicer from the get go. People who didn't like it before, like at all, heve asked me what I'm wearing now. And they like it from start to finish. Lasts a long time now too, easily 8 hours +,. Clothes even longer. I guess it just needed to sit a while. Definitely a good one to get and a solid 8/10.

I heard hymns for this scent, everyone had good things to say. I was expecting to blow me away but nothing happened. It's nice, I like it very much and I'm thinking of buying it, but it's not a groundbreaking scent. The good thing about it, it's this dominant lemony-green-woody vibe which is unique. Moreover, this is not a beast by any means. Sillage is high-moderate. I'll update about its longevity, I'm still evaluating it. Hatkora Wood is all about a citrusy green scent on a light woody base. Oud? Not even traces. I can feel plain woody notes along with beautiful and delicate lemony-green note. Quality is here. Trully it differs from the rest Ajmal creations. It could be a release from Bond No9 house, in fact it reminds me this house as for the smell/feeling. Other noticeable notes are ambergis, lavender, musk, sandalwood and amber. Rose, saffron and ginger are at the background supporting this beautiful scent. This is a gorgeous, simple, smooth and totally unisex lemony-green scent, suitable for mild warm weather, mainly daytime and summer evenings. I've tried it in an official dealer of Ajmal house. Update First wearing, longevity is between 5-6 hours. No more. I heard that it's a beast. It isn't. But I'll try it again the next days. Update After 3 full wearings the longevity remains the same. So it's not a beast anymore. But it is above the average for a citrusy scent. Still worth a fb if you like the way it smells because it's different from lemon based scents.

Longevity: 12 hours and more Fills a room Smells ok. It's clean and creamy like a lemon meringue cheesecake and yes like others have mentioned it is also slightly tart This is unisex and so it wasn't made to be so masculine and strong but it is still on the masculine side and women might not be able to pull this off. It has a typical sandalwood note that comes from most ajmal perfumes and there is a slightly sour citrus note. In most fragrances the citrus note goes early on but this keeps the citrus note for a very long time and there is not a whole lot of oud in here but I am sure that someone with a more trained nose can pick it out. It can be worn all year round in a climate controlled environment because the citrus gives it freshness and the sandalwood compliments it therefore i can say that it is blended well and the individual notes are not something i can dissect out of it. the only problem for me is the sour, tart citrus as it takes a whole day for it to become less tart and wearable for me.

Got a free sample. Initial spray i smell the lemon with a woody underone. Almost a citronella candle like smell. I do not smell peach though its listed. Within minutes, the sandalwood andwhite musk elements shine through. The lavender and rose are prominent for me yet it seems others cannot smell it. Their is a gingery zing when you smell it, coming near the end of a sniff. Ginger always has the "heat" to it i dont know how to describe it but you recognize it IF you its listed. I dont think a person would pick it out unless they really love ginger scents. Later drydown has a subtle incense like warmth, likely the agarwood and amber though its not pominent. Its a nice smell. Nothing extraordinary, yet not generic. Its nice. Not something id buy but if given as a gift, I would definitely use it 7/10 for me.

Mine is 12/2016 batch, this is really sharp in the very beginning. More than 2 sprays of this is disturbing. However, its bitterness fades away approximately after an hour and a half. From the 3rd hour it starts projecting woodsy and soapy with the finest ingredients that I've ever smelled, which is very fresh and you never be sated with its smell, especially if you don't really like sweet notes, this oud is right for you. One great advantage of this perfume is you can wear it all seasons in the climates like İstanbul's. I sprayed it in the morning at 8:00 am, it was still projecting to me at 19:00. The sillage should be less than an arms length. I bought it also because of 40% discount, it deserves 4,5 out of five for its price.

This is extremely unique. I have nothing else like this. An exotic, unfamiliar citrus and wood fragrance, scented with a strong ginger note, and more subtle florals, lavender and leather. Unfortunately, it smells overtly synthetic ... and cheap. This is the fragrance you buy as a Christmas present for the Fraghead with an obscenely large fragrance collection (describing a real life event for a friend). This is definitely going to sit undisturbed in my fragrance vault until my passing. 4.0/10 and a Fragrantica score of 3.56

I wore Hatkora overnight and I hoped it would still be there in the morning but it was basically gone. So beast mode it’s not, it lasts about 6-7 hours. It’s my second favourite from Ajmal’s wood range (in the black bottles) after Rose Wood. The fizzy citrus with the calming woods give a clean feel, but this is done far better (with much greater longevity and quality) in Acqua Di Parma’s ‘Sandalo’.

This is good stuff: A very Oriental, smooth, spiced blend of citrus, ginger, cardamom and sandalwood. Decent performance. To those who think this smells like Orto Parisi Bergamsk: no. Both perfumes are good in their own right, but are dramatically different from start to finish.

A peppery, woody citrus fragrance -- think like if Dior added lemon to Sauvage. It'd make a nice and different option for a warm weather evening cologne and for dressier occasions. Blind buy safe and worth a try.

After further smelling, I really like it, very strong long lasting fragrance that smells like a Arabian prince sipping on lemonade. Would recommend to any oud lover living in a humid climate. 8.3 out of 10

Very weird dry citrus opening. The drydown is where it starts to get really really good. Heavy woody and dark fragrance. I’d give it an 8/10.

Not bad smell, but performances r bad... longetivity is ok but sillage and projection 0. Not even close to worth 100eur.

Opens dry lemon, then rich smoky wood. It's a nice scent.

I had a sample, it was ok at best. Where I took issue is that the scent was fine, nothing special, longevity surprisingly poor sitting on my skin after an hour, and when I saw the price at discounters my jaw dropped. To each their own, I can’t recommend this pleasant underperforming fragrance from a house full of better performing scents at bargain basement prices. If it works for you, great, but beware if making a blind buy.

Tried this at the duty free in Istanbul. On paper, the notes seemed right up my alley, but upon testing it out, it just wasn't my cup of tea. Extremely dry and woody with some lemon, it was difficult to make out any of the other notes. Disappointing and unimpressive.

This is a high octave citrus fragrance, with sharp woodsy note in the drydown. Smells all natural though. Like a high-end lemon sandal oil.

Nose Note #985 Hard to describe. To my nose it has a strong nail polish vibe, sort of like Armand Basi In Red. This does not smell masculine to me whatsoever. Just unisex. It is a strange scent, it has this leading note that I haven't encountered before, it is green and a little sour. I'd say overall the scent is green-spicy, quite spicy too. Does not feel elegant to me. I'm not getting any images connecting to this scent except for nail polish. It definately has a niche allure to it. Not mass appealing. Unisex. Strong, but not crazy. 5/10, strange to me

Couldn't keep away from Hatkora Wood for the second time in a week. Ajmal brings to life a refreshingly unique & a brilliant creation, showcasing the (originally semi-wild, now cultivated) Hatkora Lime (found in eastern India & Bangladesh) & Sandalwood. First things first, I don't get any Oud, even though Fragrantica lists it as an ingredient. Bewitching, opening fruity-sweet & bright, a mix of Amber, Bergamot & the Hatkora Lime which lasts through the lifetime of the fragrance. A touch of rose & ginger keeps things interesting. As a self-diagnosed Sandalwood addict, its evolution is an experience, initially mildly spicy & then turning creamy as the scent progresses. A sweet Ambergris ties things together. A linear fragrance, it comes as a breath of fresh air, to the much redundant Oud-Rose or White-Musk dominant niche perfumery. I had been long searching for a daily go to fragrance until I found this gem. Citrus opening(Hatkora in this case) with peach sweetness, regal mysore sandalwoody mid stages and powdery musky drydown. What else you would expect from a true masterpiece? Personally, I don’t remember this kind of regal sandalwood feeling in recent years blended artfully with a citrus. I dont smell oud in it, maybe used in smaller quantities to amp up the longevity. This lasts days on skin and weeks on your jacket. I didnt try newer batches though. I see that it is compared to Rasasi Boruz Asrar Indonesia. I also used it for a long time and find almost zero similarity with Hatkora wood unless one is relatively new to oriental fragrances.

Let's address the elephant in the room. A lot of people probably got interested in that fragrance because of the Bergamask voted so high in the resemblance section. It opens as a spicy lemon covered with oud and saffran. After a few minutes, the citrus fades and you're left with spicy oud that lasts for about an hour or two, AND THEN during the drydown it smells like bergamask but without the abnormal amounts of javanol. And I'm telling you this while having Bergamask on my left wrist and Hatkora Wood on my right wrist. During drydown, they are very similar, but Hatkora Wood is not as "sweaty" as bergamask. Definitely early spring and autumn fragrance, but I wouldn't advise that in the summertime.

This one has similarity to one Orto Parisi fragance, but it`s fresher, sweeter and smoother, and no.. it is not Bergamask. It is Boccanera from Orto Parisi. It has striking similarities to Boccanera, but the notes are different. Perhaps, it is the oud, the musk, and the sandalwood here that do the work, to make it quite similar to Boccanera but it isn't a 1 and 1 comparison though. There are obvious differences but they give the same vibe.

first impressions- its quite an unremarkable citrus thats quite dirty in the opening. gonna spend more time with it though. id talk about the notes but nothing really stands out. in all fairness, what you see on the label is exactly what you get. bitter citrus and wood Edit: smells alot like amir one without the oud

Just got this. It was a blind buy becouse of the said uniqnes of the hatkora. First spray to me it is 90% Joop Nightflight, so not very unique. Hope it wil change later on. Edit 5 hours in and this is nothin unique. It's 90% Joop nightflight and 10% Eternity man To my nose.

Am I the only one getting Amouage - Jubiliation XXV vibes from this one? At least the fruity part of it. I'm currently testing a sample. Overall it is very pleasant citrus+woody fragrance. IMO ideal for hot spring/summer/fall nights.

A woodier and less obnoxious Bergamask. On me it lasts all day. I just woke up and still smell the warm musky note lingering on my skin. It’s big and beautiful. So glad I blind bought it on Olfactory Factory for a crazy deal.

I just purchased this fragrance . Very expensive, but not much going on except the skittles type smell, that the previous reviewer mentioned . My fragrance hardly lasts . I'm wondering if I received a knockoff, fake ?

This is nice, lemony, green and balmy / musky. I get no oud or harsh woods, very soft and silky, drydown gets more spicy and woodsy. Strong vetiver smell on the drydown. Overall one of the better ones from this line.

2020 batches are weak.I asked to evaluate a colleague with a sensitive sense of smell. The verdict was - weak. I bought oil Ajmal Hatkora Wood, but even the combination with it did not help improve the performance.

This did not last on my skin. In my opinion this line is way overpriced, I smelled all of them (black and white bottles) and was not impressed. I found it to be overly sweet and not long lasting.

I just bought it and it arrived today February 10th 2023, i found when it came that it is march 2018 batch. I will update my review after i test it. I hope it's not defected by long storage.
