Incense Wood

I got a sample of this from a lovely fragrance friend and must say, this perfume is beautiful! It starts off strong with the Bergamot and Saffron, but it's not too strong or masculine that a woman couldn't wear it! As a woman myself; I quite adore this fragrance! I do despise pink pepper, and it definitely comes in strong after the first 30 seconds; but thankfully fades away rather quickly. Pink pepper creates a weird sour & stinky note for my nose; so I prefer to stay away from it in my fragrances The heart of this fragrance is to die for. Its mature and sexy, yet not cloying or overwhelming because of the bergamot balancing it still in the background. The sandalwood and incense both match each other in prominence and I'd say the incense is only a tad bit stronger. The patchouli is soft and certainly not the focus of the fragrance - which I appreciate. The musk and vanilla blend wonderfully into the final dry-down. It's a comforting and sensual skin scent by the end. So! Let's do the final TLDR! Wow, I really like Incense Wood. I bought it several months ago, tried it a few times and didn't pick it up again until today. Back then, it was very a very sharp amber scent (which I still liked), somewhat like YSL M7. I haven't smelled Amber Wood before, but I imagine it smelled very close to what Amber Wood probably smells like. Now, though, after letting it sit for almost a half year, it is a lot smoother, less "sour" (for lack of a better term), almost a little sweet with the bergamot really coming through much more than before, when it was undetectable. Incense Wood went from being a dark, evening-type fragrance to a much more versatile everyday wear. I'm only a little worried that some of the projection may have been sacrificed, since, at first blush, it seems to have gone from really strong (almost too strong) to, now, not as noticeable. But maybe I'm just getting nose blind. I'll continue to test. Hopefully all of Ajmal's fragrances develop the same way -- I also purchased a bottle of Hotkoru Wood and it's unfortunately very synthetic smelling. If it matures like Incense Wood did, though, I'm in for a pleasant surprise.

My fourth higher-end Ajmal fragrance is no less impressive than the others. (I own and have reviewed Hatkora Wood, Rose Wood, and Amber Poivre, too.) It is a potent, hypnotic, dark, incense-filled fever dream of some sort of fantasy harem. It is evocative of forbidden indulgences. The predominant notes are incense, cashmere wood, frankincense, and patchouli. Vanilla has a faint presence, but the rest of the notes are subtle or indiscernible altogether. It is bold upon first spray with a linear evolution. It doesn’t transform much at all, which is good in this case because the opening is fantastic. It takes something special for me to rate a fragrance a “love” (which would be a 9 or 10 on a scale of 1-10). Indeed, few fragrances earn such a rating from me, but this is one of them. The projection is quite strong and the longevity is good, too. It is easy to overspray. Dark and unisex. My bottle is a 01/2020 batch.

It's unisex - quite appropriate for anyone who appreciates traditional incense. It seems like a mix of church, middle eastern, and Indian incense. The addition of smoky woods makes this more realistic than the CDG collection (I like those, btw). I layer this with powdery florals and/or vanilla when I want a softer, yet sultry incense. Floranilla is a recent successful layering. I only need one full spray to last 7 hours. I am not into "beast mode" but with three full sprays, this surely will gather attention. It's a great value. My suggestion is don't overpay for this. Legit bottles have been found from $70.00 to $95.00, and I'd use this range as a guide. I've seen cheaper prices but I wouldn't suggest them. One lady bought a $52.00 bottle, but the perfume was weak and watery. Buy from a reliable seller. 9/10

I am a female and this is my favorite perfume of all time since 2019. I have visited the Ajmal store in Dubai and initially wanted to buy the Hatkora wood as I smelled it on somebody and it smelled awesome. However, I discovered this one instead and since then I am in love with the scent. I feel it will smell as awesome on both genders. Both a man or a woman can rock this scent. It smells very royal and luxuriousness. Definitely worth every dollar I paid for it. Also, it has one of the best longevity I have ever seen and would easily last on my cloths for months and even years in my closet. I definitely would give this perfume a 20/10. Just Amazing!!!

My mum brought this back from Dubai for herself and I fell in love with the scent immediately. So she gifted me one after her travel the following year. Intence wood is rich, dark and oud-y. Very sharp with great projection, you don’t need to spray a lot. To me it’s a mix of Black Orchid and Noir Pour Femme by Tom Ford. Lots of resemblance from the amber, woody, vanilla and powdery notes. I’d also say it’s more wintery or wearable on a special night.

This is beautiful, warm , woody , niche quality scent . strong projection . Longevity is great . I don’t know why to my nose it reminds me a bit of both Gucci intense oud and Dior homme intense . It has this typical middle eastern oud vibe . If you want something different , it’s definitely for you . I don’t get much of pink pepper and vanillla note . Everything else is perfect . Highly recommended

This is the first perfume for me that is suitable for any situation. Rich, elegant, refined and daring at the same time! The thing I like the most is that its warm-spiciness is very well-balanced. It is not too sweet and has a touch of freshness which makes it wearable in summer and in office, unlike many other incense perfumes. Definitely gonna by one

This perfume was gifted to me by friend few years ago. Smells really good it projects and lasts longer. I will not say it's a blind by but worth trying. Its more masculine then feminine. Few sprays and people will know you are in the room. Very strong.

Truly luxurious, excellent quality and totally unisex 4 season perfume. Very powerful so don't spray more than 1 or 2. Spicy warm spiritual perfectly balanced very mature and unique scent.

This one is by far the best from the w series, better than amber or hatkora wood at lest to my nose. It has those western niches nuances found in the likes of Tom ford

A fragrance that smells of mystery, ancient libraries and enveloping warmth, Incense Wood by Ajmal is a masterpiece of modern Middle Eastern perfumery. Launched in 2019, this perfume is a perfect example of how Ajmal manages to balance oriental opulence with a more "Western" wearability. Incense Wood is not the classic cold and austere "ecclesiastical" incense; it is rather a woody and spicy incense that plays a lot on textures. Bergamot gives an initial touch of light, but Saffron and Pink Pepper dictate the rhythm. It's a vibrant, almost pungent start that sets the stage for the darkness that follows. The heart is the protagonist: Here the incense and frankincense create a smoky and resinous cloud. Cashmere Wood is the winning move: it adds a "soft" and velvety texture that prevents the resins from becoming too dry. The drydown is where the fragrance sits comfortably on the skin. Patchouli adds depth, while Vanilla and Musk soften the smoky tones, making the finish warm, reassuring and decidedly sensual. Incense Wood is a "spiritual" but down to earth fragrance. It is perfect for those who want to stand out with a perfume that communicates maturity, introspection and a hint of refined exoticism.

I like this Ajmal line very much, it's is my third so far after Amber Wood and Violet Musc. It is a skin scent in terms of projection but quite long lasting. It's straight forward and sophisticated with a masculine touch. I don't mind it but I wished it was more incensy than woody, that way it would have been even more interesting an unique in my opinion. I first didn't find it sweet at all except during the 5 first seconds (which are beautiful by the way, I wish it stayed like this the entire time), but it evolves a lot and get much sweeter during the following hours.

A nice enough but largely redundant soapy sweet Woody Oriental that still manages to be evocative. The perfume opens with notes of saffron, bergamot and pink pepper. The heart is frankincense, olibanum and cashmeran wood. The perfume settles into a base of synthetic musk, patchouli and vanilla. Unisex slight masculine leaning perfume with moderate to strong projection and good longevity. A bright incense perfume for a change. Enjoy!

Refined and elegant. Does what it says on the tin, superb balance of wood and incense, tempered with some spices. The frankincense and incense is great, no barbecue lol. There's some herbal thing going on when I closely inhale that reminds me of dill.. I think this is perfectly unisex. Not cheap but probably worth for those who like quality and complexity in this profile.

This is a really good fragrance, but to me the drydown is a little lackluster. It's not heavy on olibanum--it's just a woody, slightly incensy frag. Tiger's Nest has a similar vibe but blows this out of the water. Still, I'm rating it a 4/5 because it's decent and I think this might be a cheapie.

Unbelievably weak. I ordered carded samples directly from Ajmal (which I do not recommend, customer service was horrendous), so I don't understand why this perfume performs so poorly for me in comparison to other reviewers' experiences. What I can smell of it seems likeable, lightly smoky sandalwood with the saffron and patchouli base the house uses for several other titles. Ard Al Zaafaran Midnight Oud is a better affordable option for a long lasting woody incense scent.

Stop! Just don't. I recently purchased this with intact wrapping and appears legit, but it is probably the worst, cheap smelling, oriental fragrance I have ever encountered. Honestly, I think they spent more on the presentation, much more, than they did on the fragrance itself. It should be illegal to market as a fragrance. If there was a UAE Better Business Bureau I'd report this as a crime. I paid $70 for this and it so bad that I can't even use it for layering. Ugh...

This one is questionable for me. I must have gotten an extremely bad one because it smalls like nothing. Only a very faint unpleasant chemical that has no perfume notes whatsoever. My others in the series (Amber Wood and Amber Wood Noir) are ok. Going to return this one...

#1607 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this decant for $3.99 from scentsplit.com. Sadly, it was discontinued in 2023. Seems like every reputable seller is now out of stock. Cheapest full bottle I can find is $150 on eBay which I do not trust. Nothing I can find out there that's exactly like this great saffron, cashmir wood and incense scent. But I have tried some in this ballpark: Simone Andreoli "Smoke of the Desert" and "Smoke of God", Dolce & Gabbana "Velvet Incenso", Bois 1920 "Scuro", Orlov Paris "Bright Red." The "Velvet Incenso" comes the closest, but it's pricy at $175. Ajmal really should bring this one back. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

I don't know what to think about this perfume. And I don't really know what to say about this perfume. Smokey-woody-incence for sure. Deep, dry and sensual, quite long-lasting with great sillage. Definately for women, even though it's marked as unisex, I can't imagine a man wearing this. I have a small sample and I don't know if I should get a full bottle... I love it though... My brother-in-law says it smells like wood pile.

alfrued: this scent smells feminine on me. And believe me, if a perfume smells masculine, I say that it smells masculine on me! (Like Montale Blue Amber, L'Artisan Ambre Extreme, Etro Ambra). Yes, it is very stong, woody and smokey, but it matches my skin chemistry well! :) It may as well smell different on a man.

How can a woody smokey scent as you described, be suitable more for women? I have to try this 👇👇
