Patchouli Wood

I was looking for animalistic scents and came across this gem. Sweet and balsamic Patchouli with a very dung like Oud. Exactly what I wanted. Beautiful for Fall.

I like it. Good oud in the base. Silage and projection are low but it may need some macerating coming from the Ajmal facility.

My favorite in the wood series. Smells rich with niche quality. I love the Oud in this one.

Patchouli Wood is perhaps the most challenging of Ajmal’s “W” series. It is a potent blend of earthy patchouli and pungent oud. The woods and spices fill out the composition, but don’t compete for center stage. This fragrance is dark, a bit dirty, raw– not for conventional sensibilities. However, I find it powerful and comforting, grounding, and a bit mysterious. I haven’t felt well today, but this fragrance made me feel better and more centered. While it isn’t my favorite Ajmal, and the second-most risky blind buy I made from this house, I enjoy it and don’t regret getting it at all. Dirty patchouli and Middle Eastern fragrance lovers may really enjoy this. Leans masculine. Moderately-strong projection and longevity.

It's very powdery/ashy patchouli scent. Has incensy/too some extent ashy quality to it which is quite unique in Patchouli genre may be. Comforting , woody , smooth , but not like Le labo, not in the vein Mollinard's, or Ursa or Chopard's Sumatra Patchouly or Zegna Javanese Patchouly They are Clean bit earthy . it's not even like Profumum Roma Patchouly or Jovoy Psychedelique they are dark. Can relate to Guerlain Patchouli Ardent faintly. All in all can try but not a must try specially may not appeal to everyone as the ashyness is quite dominant. But now it is having 50% off which makes a great deal to buy as on today, may be Ajmal will discontinue it soon, so if anyone wish to try better hurry. Performance is average.

This is very animalic oud and dirty Patchouli. It's a niche style fragrance at its finest. Not a safe blind buy or dumb reach. Probably won't be a crowd pleaser either. I prefer to wear this at home. It's calming for me. Can't stop sniffing my sweater or my wrists. Last 24hrs + opens very dirty Patchouli and takes a hour to settle into a dank oud smoky incense vibe. Far from mass appealing but that's what I love about. I have this Amber Santal, Amber Wood and Hatkora Wood by Ajmal. This is the hardest to wear out but the most respected.

Patchouli Wood seems to me a musty misty mildew of butterscotch dung and watery unpeppery patchouli. It projects far and lasts a day. Not something I would wear to impress anyone, because unless they were a perfume addict looking for variety they probably would not be overly impressed.

This somehow reminds me of ‘Karma’ by Lush. Nice but not great.

No! No! And no!! This is a skanky barnyard oud with earthy patchouli. Patchouli can be nice, but not here. It gives me thoat scratches because of its medicinal aspect. While Ajmal cannot compare with Al-Khat in that ”horse stale” perspective, it is still nothing I would wear. Do NOT BLIND BUY it!!

Very disappointing. The smell is very nice and lives up the name of the fragrance. However, this is nothing more than a skin scent and longevity for me is terrible at 3 hours tops. This is an EDP. Do not blind buy this one. Get a sample.

Wow, it's really hart to enyoj this. It feels good on a moment stale - smoky - boozy - ashy but kind of unpleasant. Sorry.

I received a sample vial. Nice Woody blend and I agree with BVR that longevity is below average.

To me, this does not live up to its name. Kind-of. There is wood, definitely. Agarwood. But it's a strange oud. It's not that authentic horse-manure oud like you find in Xerjoff Al-Khat or Thomas Kosmala Bukhoor, but it isn't that medicinal oud you find in lots of designers either. It's a very sweet oud, and if there is patchouli here, it's a very sweet patchouli too. While the oud is not medicinal, this does smell a lot like medicine. When I was younger, when I got sick instead of taking antibiotic pills, I drank this strange pink antibiotic liquid. This smells just like how that antibiotic medicine tasted. It's very strange. This projects a lot, too. People around you will notice you, even if you go anosmic to it. Half a spray should do for most, and this is coming from a chronic over-sprayer. Thankfully, the sprayer mine came with is amazing and you can really control how much you spray. So overall, do I like this? I can't really tell if I do or not. It's sweet, and strong, and medicinal, and strange, and conjures memories of drinking the most disgusting thing ever made as a child. It's worth trying even if you know this isn't your cup of tea just to experience how strange this is.

I'm loving the patch in this. Very earthy and real with some cow dung to boot. (Oud) it is barny, but more of a soft barny, a chicken coup kind of barny earthy, reminds me of my grandma's mini farm lol. So this is an endearing scent to me however I do agree - don't blind buy it. Try it first, it smells very niche and powerful to my nose. Also fairly sweet.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this before... but this smells exactly like 'Thiruneeru'/'Vibhooti' that is available in Indian Hindu Temples. It's basically 'Sacred ash' that's a mix of burnt 'wood + cow dung'. If you like that smell, you should get this...

This perfume is blended well but it doesn't last long. If you smell it after two hours you're lucky. Not worth the price.

@Preeb how is the opening to this one? It seems like the drydown is good, but the opening appears to be challenging.
