Symphony Of Oud

If you like fragrances with the Gris Charnel DNA, then you must try this. I already had Liam Grey from Lattafa, which is more vanilla forward in comparison to this. This fragrance is more balanced with the tea, iris, and sandalwood. The tea leads off very strong, almost smoky. Then the fragrance gets more buttery with the iris as the mid approaches. But my favorite part about this fragrance is the sandalwood on the drydown; such a chef's kiss. High quality sandalwood here. The tonka does make an appearance in the drydown making the fragrance semi vanillic, but not like Liam Grey. So if you dig the vanilla dominant version of this DNA, Liam Grey is where you stop. But if you want the more smoky nuance that's more balanced and has a bit of a journey, try this! Don't get discouraged with the strength and longevity when you first get it...sit it for a couple of weeks and you'll notice a significant uptick in both departments. After sitting, very strong projection the first 2 to 3 hours. Longevity is till you shower, twice. This uni like the DNA it's moonlighting as. I also believe this works in all seasons. This will be a champ in the colder seasons, but this has worked well in the summer also (with sprays adjusted). Alright, I've gloated about this enough...just buy the damned juice! Projection: 10 Longevity: 10 Scent: 10 Price: 10 (snagged mine for about $35) Overall: obviously all 10s here.

First glance review was hoping i would like this fragrance and I DO what i do not like is because i was looking for some more tea scents after i had smelled the le labo santal 33 clone jungle santal so i looked on here and other sites for more tea fragrances which lead me to two of them being Symphony of oud (ajmal) 2023. velvet musk (lattafa)2024 Once fragrantica gets velvet musk on the site ill leave a review for that fragrance as well but even tho they are both duping or similar to gris charnel they smell vastly different with the (ajmal) going into more of tea and powder smell the (lattafa) has a big touch of amber and sweetness to my liking on the initial spray i am hit with a blast of acetone(nail polish) not sure if it has to do with the perfumers alcohol or the tea or the fragrance spoiling but after giving it some time it settles into the tea and cardamom really soft to my nose and also sweet maybe the iris playing a part later on the fragrance gets really soft powder like and sadly the tea is gone for me hopefully ill do an update with better performance so i can leave a better review. 5/10 for first impressions

Only had this for about a week but greatly agree with @Phlip903 about his remarks on this fragrance. I also own Liam Grey for reference. I find that the sandalwood smells a bit more natural and effervescent in this one, less of a spicy blast in the beginning, and the vanilla is slightly toned down, especially in the drydown. Liam is a bit more one-dimensional in the drydown with the vanilla leading much of the way, smelling really good but almost like a high-quality Bath & Body Works scent. This smells a bit more spa-like, a la Tam Dao, Kilian Sacred Wood, or Aesop Eidesis, and retains that throughout the life of the fragrance as it evolves into the different facets. I don’t find owning both to be redundant, as Liam smells a bit more Parisian chic and this more bohemian cool. Both have great sillage (I’ve only owned this for about a week and expect it to improve), but this is already on par, if not better, than Liam. Really surprised this hasnt blown up in the community yet. True 10/10 for me if Liam is a 9/10.

Review. 7 months later i still need to get a sample of both of the gris charnels edp and extrait but from the current ones i have being Symphony of oud Velvet musk Liam Al noor I gotta say this one is the best with al noor coming and second place scent wise that nail polish smell i picked up in the beginning most likely the black tea note has calmed down alot seeming more tea and coconut forward im glad this is not as vanilla heavy as liam it also gets very powdery with a touch of sweetness not too overpowering but this fragrance last all day long catching it as you go along your day very iris heavy i don’t pick up any fig sweetness i font get how this isnt hyped up more. I know in my first review it seemed like i hated this fragrance but for the first two weeks i couldnt stop picking it up and smelling it now that its getting colder this is totally going back into my rotation 10/10 man smelling it on my hand is just like a buttery coconut and tea i cant stop smelling

Honestly this is pretty damn good. I haven’t tried the BDK so I can’t comment on similarities but this does smell smooth/well-rounded and high quality, doesn’t give off screechy synthetic vibes. It’s well composed, I can pick out all the notes without it smelling muddled or hollow. Ajmal does a great job on their sandalwood fragrances, I also have Santal Wood which is incredible and uses real sandalwood oil. This seems to use the same sandalwood base but in lower concentrations. Smells like it’s high in naturals. I’ll say that the tonka is a little too much for my tastes but I think people will love this, it gives it a nice sweet almond/cherry vibe but I just prefer things non-sweet. Projection is average but longevity is eternal. Unisex. Maybe too complex and elegant for younger folks but it’s not really mature either. Very nice heavy bottle.

I got a free sample with a different purchase in July, and I sprayed it on a paper toward the open window. A few hours later I could still smell around my house, even from different rooms... So the heat definitely makes this scent go everywhere. Once the temperature came down a little, I started craving woody scents and felt like testing it again. I was also testing Apres by Ellis Brooklyn, which is totally different... I wanted something woody but with a somewhat fresh facet, so maybe because of the contrast, this seems sweeter to me than I wanted it to be. But I like it. I kept coming back to it.. until I finally decided to get a bottle and I am happy, it's definitely a nice and very distinct profile.

This is my favorite type of fragrance— I can’t tell if I want to buy it for myself or for my boyfriend. I didn’t think I’d love this as much as I do, but I’m probably going to break my perfume-buying fast to get this. Can’t speak for its similarity to Gris Charnel, but I’ve been dying to get my hands on that scent, so I feel like it makes sense that I love this given the comparisons. This is cozy and perfectly unisex and woody and just so good. Great projection but not cloying or headachey. I’d say it’s more of a cool, cozy scent than a warm one. Truly obsessed! Ladies if you like perfume DNA that is slightly masc but not in a department store, citrus-aquatic way, I think you’ll love this.

It's 60 F raining and this smells absolutely awesome. The sandalwood is so genuine. I'm pretty sure this will be a valued addition. I could definitely see this being used on cool fall days. Lasts at least 9 hrs on skin. Fabric still has the scent in the morning. Definitely starts unisex then smells more masculine in dry down.

This one is deceptive. When you first spray it, it comes off fairly light and sweet with a distinct coconut smell. Really nice and addictive. Unisex. Sillage is enormous. Can be cloying. It will easily fill a room. As it dries down, it changes to oudy woody but retains a sweetness. An evolving scent...heavier and more masculine. Wear it for a day before buying it so that you experience the entire cycle. Finally, it lasts for a couple days on the skin and probably more on clothing. Very reasonably priced. I recommend this one!

Bought Symphony of Oud bc I got a sample and loved it, my wife stole it. Weeks later I bought BDK Gris Charnel Extrait for my wife as a gift, it arrives in the mail, and we both were floored at how similar they are. I didn’t know that they were even similar, just blind bought BDKGCE bc we heard good things. I’m tellin yall, unpaid, uncompensated... this is a MUST HAVE if you like Gris Charnel Extrait. I put this on my reputation, and will argue to the death if anyone tries to grandstand 😂

Woody, sweet thus smells really good to me. Especially because I love oud scents. It lasts a decent amount of time. 8/10.. I'm sure I'm going to love this even more over time Update: The performance on this is beastly. The projection there also. This thing lasts all day.

Trying this out with a sample. Smells great. Leans masculine but I think it’s a unisex scent. Will buy a bottle if available when I kill another from the collection. 4/5 IMO.

The opening was promising it has a nice warm spiced smell but dries down to a woody incense scent. Projection is average to weak. Got a sample included with a fragrancenet order.

My nose might be broken but this smells to me like jasmine rice boiled in coconut milk. Could be the mixture of the sandalwood and tonka bean giving me the vibe of coconut. The cardamom is nice here and adds a velvety green touch and I love the powdery iris too. I wouldn’t compare this to jungle Vetiver from finery. Might have similar note breakdowns but they smell way different. Something is making this smell sweet and feminine which doesn’t remind me of jungle Vetiver at all. As far as Gris charnel goes never smelled it so I can’t compare that to symphony of oud.

I adore the scent, but it irritates my eyes in the way that certain cinnamon fragrances do.
