Spindrift

From the bottle, it's bright, rounded citrus and sort of cyrpress-y green, for lack of a better description. On my skin, it opens with the soft, bright citrus (mainly sweet orange and a little bergamot to my nose), and fresh woody-green notes. The green reminds me of evergreen trees, like cypress or juniper. Initially, this isn't really what you would classify as marine. I weirdly do detect the scent of sea shells; I'm not sure if I would have understood it if it weren't listed in the notes, but it's there. At this point, the greenery sort of fades as the soft citruses take center stage. Dominating notes for the first 1-2 hours are the citrus and evergreen notes (Not pine or fir). I don't detect much driftwood for the first hour or so, but that could be because it's well blended into this fragrance. Then there are undertones of warm, yellow floral. Plumeria? The florals unfold more after the initial application. As it dries down (2+ hours) it takes on the soft marine accord, and finally the driftwood becomes noticeable. This is when I start to enjoy the scent a lot more. It evolves into something beautiful rather than just a scent that's pleasant and inoffensive. It has a very mild musty or antique tinge, but this is not sharp or offensive. My mom remarked that this scent smelled "Old" and that is true, but I certainly would not say outdated. I have eyed this one for 10 years and finally ordered this sample from Ajne's website. The sample literally a blend of essential oils mixed with a carrier oil. If you want a non-synthetic natural line of perfumes, this one is pretty crunchy. Sillage is moderate to light, the fragrance is not fleeting. It is a natural, safe office scent. If you have the patience, this transforms really nicely. I'm surprised because Spindrift didn't allude to such an epic dry-down.
