Smoke

I adore this. It is indeed true to its title, and the references to Tobacco Vanille in the dry down track for me, though I would say that the differences in that later phase are important. Here, the sweetened facets are not as oily or as moistened as in Tobacco Vanille, not as syrupy maybe. There's a much drier, more austere quality, putting it more in the territory of a lighted cigar than one which hasn't yet been smoked. The cade note in this is gorgeous and to me the stunner, imparting a quality somewhere between charred wood and sharp cinnamon. For me, there's only a vague parallel to Amouage Interlude, a similarity that hangs by a fragile thread. I do understand that reference, but it's like comparing polka dots with gingham. You can't call them similar because they sit on the same cut of blouse. While the scent of smoke persists throughout most of the fragrance's life on skin, it eventually becomes more of a background. I think of this conceptually as smoke which lingers, changing the scent of the room, then disperses, having altered or shifted the overall scent profile of the space it took up. The room in question is a walk-in humidor full of sweetened cigars. I do smell different smoke nuances: strong suggestions of cigar smoke, for instance, but also somewhat cooked or cured facets. I don't get cigarette smoke exactly, but I don't get the other smoked facets alone either. More a cloud of different smokes shifting and combining. For me, everything is just right about this fragrance, including its behavior on and around skin and its longevity. This scent does not make it's wearer a smoke bomb. It lingers the way its titular subject does. It adds something new, something ineffable, to the category of smoke scents. Calling such a scent too literal is generally something you don't hear from ardent smoky fragrances lovers.

I used to really like Herod from PdM, but it lacks performance on me and it's not enough edgy as tobacco scent in my book. Tar? Burn wood? Nope. No similarities to Hyde (got bottle too) - however comparision to Djarum Black (cigarettes) is spot on imo. Smoke alone is apparently least prominent note and olfactive illusion that reminds you of it is delivered because of used cade. Actually, there is no "smoke" in notes listed on Akro's website; official notes include only following: Balkans Tobacco Leaves, Cade, Benjoin, Tonka Bean. Initial sprays hit you with strong punch of not mentioned cloves and cade. Votes on notes are completely wrong because benzoin and tonka bean almost take a lead in drydown of this fragrance - it's definitely more balanced than notes presented on Fragrantica. Nevertheless this is the real rocknrolla of tobacco fragrances; it's not cloyingly sweet, does not contain honey and it's so wearable you can wear it almost whole year (except high heat maybe where it can get cloying). It's so underrated and unique in it's simplicity amongst other tobacco scents I've tried (and believe me I tried some, cuz I love tobacco note) that it very often gives me positive attention from ppl, when they come closer and smell it. Longevity is 8-10h+, projection is quite big at first then it's above average for 8-10h+ in my case. Definitely full bottle worthy for me. PS: Both mine and my friend's was irritated/allergic after initial sprays for a while. Doesn't happen again when using full bottle (I had decant before). //Edit: 3.11.22: got my bottle! I love it, definitely in my TOP5 for long time. 10/10 //Edit2: 18.02.23: It's my comfy scent and it fits as my signature better than anything atm.

I am impressed so far with Akro as a house. While I admire Olivier Cresp's work as a master perfumer, I felt that the theme of his own brand Akro was too restrictive (olfactory "addictions"). However, each scent is an intelligently-composed olfactory artwork, nuanced and creative if not always wearable. Smoke is a pretty impressive tobacco scent. Instead of an overdose of smoky tobacco, it is a boozy, ambery, smoky scent with some hay-like herbal nuances. It smells familiar, but I can't put my finger on it. A little Lutens Chergui, a hint of Margiela Jazz Club, some Dusita booziness, perhaps a Tom Ford-style edge - I'm unsure. Regardless, Smoke is utterly satisfying throughout. Smoke has a boozy opening, followed closely by a nice smoky tobacco note that forms the crux of this scent. The herbal quality of the tobacco is evident here, toasted and hay-like. There is a hint of tar too - perfectly on-theme. The smokiness doesn't overwhelm this scent, despite its name. There is a lovely balsamic amber base to this scent, tying everything together nicely. I get some woodiness as it dries down, and it becomes somewhat ashy here. Tonka bean complements the smoky amber beautifully, adding smooth spiciness. It fades to a balsamic skin scent with a whisper of smoke remaining until final fade. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. Instead of the simple smoky scent I expected, Smoke is a rich, beautifully-composed, smoky-boozy-amber scent, unisex and high-quality. One of the most wearable Akros. 4/5.

Recently the Akro collection became available in my country and I had the opportunity to test them all with the exception of Bake. I had great expectations coming from the master Olivier Cresp, who has created my most beloved colognes. I hope I change my mind but so far the compositions have been all a disappointment. They smell high quality, but I do not get neither uniqueness nor novelty. I thought I liked Smoke because from the whole collection it seemed the most original. Today I decided to give it another try and I test it in the shopping center to saw again how it develop. As the time went by, I started to feel a familiar smell, something I knew. Then it came clearly to my mind: Velvet Teddy from Mac. Smoke is more refined, but they are very similar. Very disappointingly, not because Velvet Teddy is a bad fragrance, but because I was expecting something new and interesting. The same happened with some other items of the collection: Dark is very similar to Angel Man, Ink has the spirit of Guccy Guilty Absolute and Awake has the vanilla dry-down of Club Black from Mercedez Benz. Why would I be interested in the Akro compositions if I do not even like that much the aforementioned fragrances? With respect to the remaining scents I do not have positive comments either: Malt has a seaweed note that I find difficult to stand in the long run, Haze is a poor performer and Night is a bald and uninspiring rose scent with no detectable allusions to sex of intimacy. What am I not understanding here?

Opens with a mild white smoke but then...holy smokes!!! (pun intended)...this is IMO, a more addicting version (but a tad sweeter) of This Is Not A Pipe by Demeter--the cade here is definitely present, but not overbearing, it sits more in the far back compared to the other notes. The tobacco leaf here is just so addicting (for context, I dont smoke, for those that think they may be noseblind/dont smell the tobacco), when combined with the rest of the notes, just balsamic and sweet enough to tell a picture as a whole. Wow. Layering this with Leatherize by DS&Durga is such a treat, even though this frag is much lighter. But it's rather disrespectful, because this is just so addicting on its own. I will say the smoke is more of a faintly-sweet pipe-esque smoke, sliding between fresh-stale, but present, as opposed to a burning smoke, and really is more of a supportive note than one that stands out. I didn't like Akro Ink when I tried it, but this find was a big win from this house. I will say the Demeter frag is more of an eau de cologne, while this is an EDP (even though this is not really a good metric, they do actually differ in performance--this is better), and 100mL of Akro can be had for under 100$, I'd say this is highway robbery (slightly less so) as with the Demeter frag.

Hyper realistic smoke scent that is suprisingly hardcore imo. Initially, it smells like a cigarette you just put out, and put up to your nose. If you grew up during the times when smoking indoors was everywhere, this is the smell of bars, pool halls, and bowling alleys of that era. Stale smoke and tar stuck to walls after years of indoor smoking actually made the walls turn yellow, and you could see the yellow tar accumulation running down the walls! Yes kids, this was the 70's and 80's you don't read about in books or see in the movies 🚬 As it goes, I detect some cinnamon which puts it into more palatable territory of something similar to tobacco vanille, but a much more wet ash and dirty version. This would only be suitable on a man in a night out situation as it smells like an old Vegas lounge from yesteryear. If you're a former smoker with fond memories or nostalgic about times of cigarettes being burned indoors en masse, you'll like this one. I don't see the appeal for anyone that isn't a tobacco aficionado or miss the simple and unhealthy times of the of the 70's and 80's. Unwearable to most people I'd imagine. Wearing this in the heat would probably make me puke.Photorealistic and unique art; I need to be in bad boy mood to wear this stuff. Scent 8/10 Performance 7/10

Let me preface by saying I am a former smoker, though I hate the smell of smoke and especially old smoke more than non-smokers, after giving it up. Yet somehow, despite all that being said, this scent makes me nostalgic about smoke and related experiences when I was smoking, and I love it. It recalls times with an old boyfriend and cuddling under his smokey jacket. To me it smells of fresh smoke and not stale smoke. Haze came in the flight too and it is in the same family, but it smells a bit like marijuana smoke and not in a bad way. Edit: I decided to get a bigger decant and eventually will get a 30+ ml bottle from Akro because when freshly sprayed on paper it gives me the calming feeling of taking that first drag off a cigarette. Your whole body relaxes. I have no desire to actually smoke again, but this is better because I smell the fresh smoke and also get hit with the spices that are holding up the charade for me, which I love equally, as they reveal themselves behind the velvet curtain. I do not know when I can personally wear this, but it's become fantastically therapeutic.

To all lovers of tobacco scents everywhere: This is a must-try! I wish all my favourite ingredients were treated to such Akro-adaptations. It opens with straight up harsh, smoky juniper-tar sharpness. Not a cozy-warm crackling bonfire, no, a very much in-your-face blazing pyre full of fresh branches, pine needles included. Shocking and fleeting, the inferno settles down and stays in the background so the main event could take the stage: tobacco. Beautifully earthy, moist, photorealistic, quality tobacco. It gets sharpened by juniper-tar and smoke around the edges here, softened, sweetened by the benzoin there, for long hours. The drydown is fresh in comparison but still down-to-earth round and tobacco-friendly. Lovely benzoin-tonka bean and cool amber with the occasional visit from juniper-smoke and tobacco. As I'm not a tobacco-focused scent lover myself, I likely won't purchase a full bottle. I will, however, treasure my sample, and come back for more earthy-moist perfection whenever the mood strikes.

This is awesome. Just tested this at scent bar as I wanted to add a smokey aromatic fragrance to my collection. Very smokey, very aromatic just as I wanted. It definitely starts off with a blast of ashy smoke but it really calms down as it drys down and becomes more pleasing. This is very sexy and mysterious. I love it! I don't get the cigarette smell like others are saying in these reviews. Its more like a burning camp fire smoke smell. Its sweet from the tonka bean, aromatic from the cade oil, and ashy from the tobacco and smoke notes in the dry down. Somewhat resinous as well from the benzoin. I think this is an amazing fragrance and one of the best offerings from Akro (Yes, I tested all of them and this one stood out as the most interesting and alluring). Its also a beast of a fragrance - long lasting with great projection. Priced pretty fairly in my opinion although maybe it could be a tiny bit cheaper in the $150 range. Ill give this one an 8.5/10

Absolute powerhouse. Huge strong smoke like your clothes have absorbed the smell of a campfire overnight - better than so many like A City on Fire which smells like burnt rubber and charred remains of an old building. Think more like Parfum De Marly Byerley except no vetiver. It has a slight vegetative feel like Slumberhouse Norne or Profumum Arso and the dry down sees it reduce in its (welcome) stench to a somewhat dusty pipe tobacco fresh out of a packet that is quite natural. Calvinis review below is unfair. On the long dry down this is a far more potent version of TF TV sans strong vanilla. I received a number of samples in a discovery set and I must say this will be a brand to look out for - so much so that I will purchase this as well as their Malt (malt scotch) and Awake (coffee) as easily the best amongst its class. A warning though - this one is a try before you buy as some may not handle it lol

Opens with a blast of smoke with a sweet tobacco background. The smoke slowly disappears and what stays is the ambery vanillic tobacco. It's absolutely stunning. There is a similarity to Tobacco vanille, but TV is more mass market and sweeter. On the other hand, smoke is heavier, edgier, less sweet and has a ton more character. It can be a little suffocating though and the overdose of smoke in the opening is definitely not for everyone. After a while though, it's just perfetly balanced, interesting but nice enough to appeal to most people around you. Personally, I haven't been so obsessed with a fragrance in a long time. It's just great. Not blind buy safe at alll though

The best tobacco - hands down!!! It is the best because this is one is innovative. Tobacco Vanille is very sweet, gourmand, and Tobacco oud lacks a good blend or sophistication. Olivier Cresp filled the gap in the market with this one. It is creamy due to tonka but not sweet. The note of smoke makes it unique, very very unique. I think the combo of tobacco and vanilla is as redundant and boring as oud and rose!! True Master perfumers dare to create masterpieces! Their imagination is not for modest statements! Ah, and this is a signature scent! In the heat works superbly well.

Okay, i wish i could be like y'all and smell every note, but that is not me. Instead, i close my eyes, and this takes me to an old, dusty attic that has such deep memories, old albums, record player that grandpa stored away and nobody even bothers with opening up the attic due to them considering all the stuff "junk", even though, its amazing old school treasures. This scent has this old feel, but so comforting at the same time. It is great believe it or not. I feel more manly even though it states unisex. Guess depends on chemistry overall. I am impressed with this one.

Another cracker from Akro. It definitely does what it says on the tin, so if you don’t like smoke/tobacco, don’t go near it. But if you do, this is beautifully executed: dark, warm, sexy, inviting. It avoids the dry/dusty profile of many tobacco scents and instead smells rich and sticky, but with a distinct smoky sharpness on top. It smells like being in a smoky bar but in a good way (for some people that will sound horrible, and fair play, but others will know what I mean). If someone showed up to a date wearing this I’d be impressed. Definitely suited for nighttime.

People comparing this to TF Tobacco Vanille need to give their head a wobble. Nothing like it. This is niche and polarising not mass appealing. This is giving smoke, tobacco and just amazing open fireplace in a Victorian library. I also noticed people mentioning By the fireplace by Replica, again no no no! If you want real smoke, real fire THIS is your go to. Again stop complaining masterpieces against mass appealing juice created to appease the masses. I love to layer this with molecules 05 to give it a more dug up vampire who was burnt before killed vibe.

Usually with most tobacco scents you get a familiar evolution: tobacco right up front that slowly sweetens into an amber base—often honeyed, sometimes even a bit fruity. What I love about Akro Smoke is that it completely flips that structure. The opening is almost abrasive and ashtray like, But give it about 20 minutes and it shifts into a very realistic, slightly sweetened pipe tobacco. Overall it’s warm, cozy and wears pretty light! If you can get past the opening, which is the most challenging part, the drydown is genuinely addictive.

People who think that this smells like stale cigarette smoke residue or ashtray need to go smell an actual ashtray or buy something like Rasasi Tobacco Blaze. This is not it. More than a lit cigarette (though that is also present) this reminds me of the smell of a shisha bar if you took away all the fruity sweetness and left only tobacco. It is slightly spicy and as it dries down it becomes sweeter and the smell of dried tobacco leaf comes out to complement the smoke. Interesting, pretty strong and pretty exciting.

Great stuff! Mmmmmm... cork. I used to have a cork board in my bedroom as a teen and Akro Smoke smells just like it. A very appealing scent! Even my wife likes it... she normally hates the "Grandma's ashtray" note she detects in smoky scents. She detects a boozy note that I only faintly get. For me, this is all about the smoke and cork. Problem, though: This stuff doesn't last on my skin. After a couple of hours it's almost entirely gone - which is a problem I have with almost all modern scents.

Akro Smoke (2018) - sweet smoke - #oliviercresp mimics cigarette smoke, but still finds a way to make it elegant and beautiful. Starts with hay-like and mentholated smoke. One of the best tobacco fragrance ever. A beautiful representation of pipe tobacco with cade and tonka bean in the end to sweeten up the tobacco like Cavendish tobacco. A very dry start, it may smell like a stale cigarette or an ashtray, but just give it 10 minutes, and you'll get what i mean. Not everyone can wear this kind of fragrance (i surely can't), but the realistic facet of it is enough to appreciate what a masterpiece this is (along with Dark).

This is exactly what it says on the bottle, it paints a vision of sitting in front of a bonfire, and the smell is not quite as thick as you might think, and This fragrance is STRONG. This one is not for everyone, it's a "niche" for a reason, and it delivers what it aims for well and beautifully. All of the ingredients listed are actually noticeable, so nothing is overpowering the other to the point it's not apparent.

a beautiful opening like an explosion of birch tar in a russian forest and then an addictive rendering of tobacco dry leaves sweetened by a masterfully blended mix of vanilla-woody notes. The smoke is still present scratching the back of the throat but it's balanced by the ambery base so never I told myself that it is impossible to wear, au contraire this is a total success about the addictiveness.

I currently am a smoker so I got this because I thought it might kind of match me already probably smelling like cigarettes, and I think its worked pretty well. Most compliments I've gotten on a fragrance especially when worn on the patio of a smoky bar while smoking. Obviously it smells very smoky; I would say I pick up more on the leather note than the tobacco.

Tried this randomly for a second time. Ended up falling sort of in love with this, on my skin at first impression its pure smoke and cade oil and nothing more, after maybe 20 minutes it turns to a creamy almost sweet smoke with tobacco and tonka bean really over taking the scent. I do love this as of late have gotten a few compliments as well. Overall 8.6/10

At first spray i detect some sort of sauna smell, maybe a little bit of eucalyptus. Than after a couple of seconds the ashy cigarette/cigar scent comes in. I find it very intriguing and i keep smelling my arm. After maybe one hour it becomes more sweet and overall very comforting. It reminds me of Velvet Teddy -MAC. Longevity is above average. 8 out of 10👍

Interesting. Initially, it's quite a sweet smoky fragrance, with something similar to anise or cinnamon. More likely the benzoin. Not too fond of this stage. Then it rounds out to a very good analogue of cigarette smoke. Pretty impressive. I'll have to try it again in the cooler weather, but it's on my watch list.

Wow, the opening is really strong smoky with touch of tobacco. In the first minute i literally smell cigarettes and after few minutes magic happened. Cocoa comes right on time combinated with tobacco and insence , absolutely gergous. I wear this with leather jacket, going to rifle range for my practice.

The opening is a dead on ash and smoke scent and fades into a sweet lit cigarette smell on the drydown. For me, the vanilla notes start to bloom hours into wearing this, creating this whole new gorgeous tobacco scent in the middle of the day. It's truly a treat to wear and lasts for quite a long time.

After the first 20 minutes, it's identical to Tobacco Vanille. The first 20 minutes are almost identical to Tobacco Vanille except for a slightly pissy benzoin element. Not bad, but to me it's a clone of TV. There's no smoke, it's raw tobacco, not cigarettes.

If you love the smell of your clothes after sitting next to a bonfire all night, this perfume is for you! Smoke is easily the best masculine fragrance from Akro. Despite being super smoky, it's quite cooling and resinous. I love wearing this in the summer!

My second Akro experience and it did not disappoint. It is, without a doubt, smokey. And smoke accords can be polarizing, but the accompaniments here are perfect. The net result is a smokey incense aura which ends up being rather addictive.

Pure tobacco leaf, smells exactly like a shed drying tobacco leaves for cigars, obviously with some smoke as well. Transitions to a sweet vanilla with some hints of smoke. Not for everyone, it's intense and dark but I love it so much.

I love smokey scents, and have spent a ton on fragrances. This is a 10/10 all the way around. Beast mode and wonderful dry down. If you like smokey scents, no question, price and quality, this is a must.

This smells like an 80s nightclub, back in the 80s, not a fake one today. Clove cigarette mixed with fruity drinks and CKOne. I lived through it, trust me - it's not for everyone, I think it is divine

This fragrance is what the name says.. smoky ashy tobacco but very sexy and seductive! Dont test it on a paper, try on your skin to know is it work for you or not!! Not for everyone but i love it!

The opening is glorious. A gourmand cigarette smoke. The dry down smells like cinnamon red-hot candy. And that's a beautiful thing. Highly recommend. I bought the 30 oz bottle.

Heavy mentholated punch of smoke starting very sweet, assuming that's the cade oil. Pretty linear but damn I don't mind, this smells good. Very reminiscent of cigarette smoke.

not something i would recommend trying if you do not like smoky frags. to me this is deliciously smoky in a tobacco smoke way; sweet, rich and quality cigars.

Starts out bright and cool, almost cold to me. Doesn't take long to settle into a nice, warm smoky and sweet scent. Absolutely beautiful.

Aple vinegar, brown sugar, cloves, and liquid smoke. A gourmand fragrance for those who want to smel like the Burger King BBQ sauce.

Smoke hit exactly how I expected. Tobacco. Smoke. Darkness. Alright. What I didn’t expect was how little it cared about being livable. I kept hoping against hope it would calm down. Be easier. More everyday. It absolutely wouldn’t. This is a very specific fragrance for a very specific crowd. It’s divisive and a little nasty. People talking shit comes with the territory. 🧨 That’s the tax. Smoke is Akro planting their flag and lighting it on fire. I tested this while “quitting” smoking. Lungs resting, hands bored, brain bargaining. Resolve allegedly firm. And Smoke has been there the whole time, warming and maddeningly comforting. Like standing too close to someone you want who smells incredible and doesn’t ask how you’re doing. 😒 What keeps pulling me back is that it smells like a dying campfire in the open woods or insanely good roll-ups with a cherry-dark edge. Not cheap cigarettes. No stale smoking rooms. It’s dry, slightly green, tarry, and outdoorsy. It’s that feeling of stepping out in real cold for a drag, jacket open, fingers numb, but mouth still warm. That said, this perfume needs air. Near-zero temperatures. Winter, ideally. Non-negotiable. Long walks. Open space. Nighttime. It throws hard and lasts offensively long. Showers mean nothing. Wear it in an enclosed space and you’ll either get a headache or turn everyone against you. ⚠️ Unless they smoke. Smokers will instantly relax around you. Once on skin, it’s dense and packed tight. Dry, bitter tobacco and rubbery birch cave in on themselves, going tar-thick, almost charred. But after about an hour, benzoin and tonka start to creep in and push it right up to cloying. Weird. Especially for something so smoke-drowned and unsentimental. And that’s where it loses me, honestly. It drifts much sweeter than I’d like. I wish it took a sharper, fresh-spicy turn. More ash and sparks, less of a vanilla detour. The drydown matures everything aggressively, like x10. By the end, Smoke starts acting too grown. I wanted it messier. The first thing I got, though, wasn’t tobacco or smoke but BBQ-smoked prunes. Fruit dried over embers. Instantly. That chewy sweetness wrapped in char. Birch smoke, dark-fruited dry tobacco, and the resin underneath all lock into that exact smell. And once you catch it, it really sticks to you. Which also unlocked a memory I didn’t order: I briefly dated a firefighter. I met him straight after work one night, fresh from a fire, and his clothes smelled just like this. Smoke-dried prunes, fabric and sweat that hadn’t cooled yet. Only he got to smell like that for free, so lol. Still. Kind of hot. I’d totally wear it, but only when I want to be intentionally unsettling. Like meeting his parents for the first time. ’Cause nothing says “I have lived” quite like controlled combustion. Or a wedding where the dress code is pastel. No gift. I’d bring incense-sweet smoke and emotional weight instead. If I buy it, it’ll be the 30 ml. This isn’t a daily driver. It’s time-, weather-, and mood-bound. But it’s special, deeply non-trivial, and would fit right in with the rest of my dirty bunch. No rush.

I'm on the hunt for an authentic cigarette smoke smell. I want to find something that smells like walking back inside from the balcony/fire escape. Hell, I'm looking for an indoor smoking lounge smell, with still-glowing cigs. Shoutout to my family for giving me all that secondhand smoke as a kid and making me crave the smell of American Spirits! ..but as much as I love the smell of cigs, I'm not trying to get heart disease or give out my lungs. Not today, Satan. ...This is not that, but it's close!! Akro Smoke is something far more reserved. what I smell is something like camphor(think tiger balm.) Kinda hints at warmth with some spices, but the camphor-like scent keeps it from feeling hot. With heavy application, you might get a little bit of ashtray but it never feels confident enough and never commits to cigarette. It’s smoke-adjacent at best. This smells more like 500 Years by ELDO than Jasmin Et Cigarette. It’s almost teetering on the side of T-Rex and City On Fire ( i can’t believe i just compared those two. T-rex is 1000x times better than City On Fire.) I also agree with @MxMxx that this does smell like a cheap mousepad, and I don’t know how to explain that. This also gives a strange.. menthol + spicy whiskey shot smell. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It projects at an arm’s length for about 4 hours. Great for layering on other fragrances. Layering with The Noir 29 almost smells like Jasmin Et Cigarette.. I think if you combined this with Empty Wishes Well from Toskovat’ this might smell like a camping trip. It’s very unisex, wearable, and perfumey in my opinion, however in an office setting I noticed 3 different people backing away from me. This is fine with me because I don't want people to be that close to me at work. I might get a bottle of this just for that alone. If you’re looking for a wearable, smoky-ish perfume it's amazing for that. That said, it doesn’t doesn't scratch my itch. For now, my fave cig smell is Jasmin et Cigarette. That one may be 80% jasmine and 20% smoke, but at least the smoke is nostalgic for me. I still like Akro Smoke though.

You (well I) sometimes have to remember that the '...smells like...' section is not a smells like at all, it's a '...reminds me of ...' which is a broader church for sure. However, let's just say for arguments sake it's a smells exactly like... then I don't get eau des baux from this, or Lui or Tonnare but perhaps some of the others with tobacco then sure. I will also just preface this review with the fact that today I'm wearing a perfume called also titled smoke, which I'm glad (much like this one) wasn't just a huge OD of smoky cade and birch materials or even that bacon bbq sauce effect of guaiac wood. It's not that, tonally it's much fresher, un smoked tobacco. I've got to say the tobacco note/accord in this AKRO is pretty spectacular, going from smelling like a rich, real absolute, to a deliberately constructed accord with different resonant frequencies. I think the issue with this is that tobacco vanille by Tom Ford kinda set the bar for tobacco fragrances most of which just wanted to replicate that success, quite deliberately. This has the cherry and fruity tones but it's more manure like with a natural sweetness not coming from a glug of vanilla. As a result this is more bittersweet and tabacco like, so is it just TV minus the Vanilla? In very simplistic terms yes, but I can't help but respect the craft of this perfume and I definitely like it. My tobacco vanille has a balsamic sharpness and I do mean vinegar to it which I can't really abide anymore, this Smoke I could probably live with much better. However, it's rare I find myself in the mood for such things these days. Objectively speaking it's a well made, less cloying tobacco vanille type approximation with a little more about it that your average deliberate, smell alike, which I sense from the spirit of this perfume and it's development on skin, not what was intended.
