50 Years Platinum Oud

I love the Oud Wood scent profile. I won't compare one to another version but will tell you my thoughts on this version of that profile and how it is similar and different from the others in this same scent profile. This one surprised me in that it has extreme longevity. I sprayed it on around 9 pm and could still smell it at 9 am, which is a solid 12 hours. It's not outside the standard scent profile in any extreme way and is somewhere between Oud Wood and Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir. It's a little more peppery than Oud Wood and less peppery than Oud Noir. It last much longer than both and to me , has a moderate silage and projection but is noticeable to those around you. I said I wouldn't compare but here I go anyway: If you size it up vs. Mojo 10, it's a little less projecting and a little smoother but again, it lasts longer. If you compare it to His Oud Noir by DUA, it's less peppery on initial spray but similar throughout but lasts longer. It has the Aura of Real oils as opposed to anything synthetic and the oils hang in the air for around 12 hours, as I said, with it holding the entire scent profile to some extent to the end, although it gets slightly sweeter toward the fade. All in all I'm happy with it. I would choose this one over the others I mentioned. Next, I'll be trying Royal Wood by Ahmed Al Maghribi and will update the caparison if I remember to. About two years into my fragrance journey i've finally got hold of decant of Oud Wood, and i've instantly loved it, however i was very let down by its performance, after 5~6 sprays it barely lasted 3 hours. So i decided to find a good alternative, i tried all the usual options: Versace Oud Noir / bad longevity otherwise solid dunhill icon / different vibe to the scent profile and still bad longevity thameen carved oud / unatainable in my country or you have to pay 100% premium oud venture novelista / non existent performance .. at least on my skin and then finaly i stumbled on Platinum oud by Note searching , let me tell you , i was very much surprised at longevity and scent profile of this fragrance, i got to admit it doesn't have as natural opening as TF OW but as you get through, it becomes more and more similar, i'd say its 90% there with OW, its tough to explain but Platinum oud is a bit more sweet and smooth and bit less fresh and natural smelling than OW. Longevity is great, i get 8-10 hours with 5-6 sprays, the atomizer sprays quite small amounts so you gotta adjust to that. All in all i absolutely recommend this fragrance , I bought it for about 50 euro, so its an incredible bargain.

This is fairly close to Tom Ford's Oud Wood, which shouldn't be surprising considering the notes given for both. I had a bottle of Oud Wood when it first came out around 2007 and finished it around 2014 or so but never bothered to replace it. While I liked it and it got compliments, I wanted something with real oud in it. Al Haramain did a good job, from memory I'd say it's 90-95% similar, with perhaps slightly better projection and silliage at first but from wearing a spray on my hand yesterday, longevity seems to be about the same as the original release though I'll say this dies down to a wonderful whisper of aroma in its later stages. The bottle itself is fairly heavy and nicely done, but the ornamental container it comes in is kind of a take-it-or-leave it.

Just got my bottle of Platinum Oud. Here is my initial thoughts: from the first spray there is a blast of a bit harsh smell which is synthetic to me. (It is first spray after all) It reminds me of a few 'oudy', much cheaper fragrances from Lattafa and Ard Al Zaafaran. (Sheikh Al Oud of the latter to be precise has something similar; unfortunately this one is not listed here). I decided to make a quick comparison between Oud Wood by Tom Ford (which I like and that was the reason to buy the Al Haramain product) and Platinum Oud. On my left hand I have Oud Wood by Tom Ford and on the right I sprayed Platinum Oud. Side by side in the first few hours - they are more or less different. Oud Wood is more refined, more subduded, sweetness here is sophisticated and not that loud I also get a tiny hints of smokiness in comparison with PO. Platinum Oud on the other hand is more strong with that synthetic a bit polish smell which is dominant from the opening thru the middle stage. This made me to search and spray additionally Sheikh Al Oud by Ard Al Zaafaran. I may say that I find something pretty common in both. Here is the place to say that Sheikh Al Oud cost me less than 10 euros where Platinum Oud is about 60 euros (at least I got it for that)! Now back to initial comparison - After a few hours Oud Wood and Platinum Oud become more similar but unfortunately for me until the drydown stage I still get the 'synthetic smell' from the Al Haramain. I suppose that this more loud and synthetic accord will boost more Platinum Oud in order to last and project much stronger than the Tom Ford's creation (longevity and sillage is generally the only downsides of OW). P.S. The dry-down is where PO goes almost identical to OW. Few important things - at the moment it is a hot summer time here and the both fragrances are more suitable for autumn/winter which must be taken into consideration. Also I hope that Platinum Oud will macerate in upcoming months and will become more refined. I just opened it and I know that more of the Arabic brands need time to develop their full potential. Do not get me wrong, I do not want it to become exact copy of Oud Wood but just expect to get more smoother... Will update my initial thoughts in colder months when I give it a proper wear!

Softer clone of Tom Ford's Oud Wood. It has a similar opening but not quite as fresh and camphorous. It heads into a sweet and powdery territory in the drydown while still retaining that OW DNA. Nothing exciting to my nose but has decent longevity compared to most clones in the market. Projection is weak, with a soft scent bubble around you. Review based on a sample given by brand, which I am wearing right now.

nice clean powdery bit sweet oud (balsamic almost) with some touches of wood and amber but they are not the main players here. performances are not great

I tried, this fragrance. It's very masculine, not unisex at all. Good for summer, longivity is insane..
