Amber Oud

Unfortunately, I cannot say I like Al Haramain Amber Oud. And to be clear, it's just Amber Oud in this case, the namesake of the entire Amber Oud line. I happen to be on my third bottle of Amber Oud Tobacco Edition - I love it! Had I bought Amber Oud first, I don't know that I would have continued exploring this line. My issue is that Amber Oud smells, to me, weird. Not weird in a fun way, but weird as in, “Just what am I smelling?” Am I alone in thinking it smells a bit like burnt Barbie-doll hair? Just what is that weird, slightly plastic underside to this fragrance? I get that sweet note, and what may be a resinous scent, but then it just melts and isn't altogether pleasant on my skin. But long lasting? Definitely. It hangs around forever. Al Haramain can make a quality fragrance, no doubt - I'm just not sure what they were going for here and I'm not the target audience for it. I don't hate Amber Oud, but I don't enjoy it. Hopefully I can find a good home for it! UPDATE: I put Amber Oud on the shelf for four months and left it there. It's now June and I've worn it a handful of times. It's not as weirdly off-putting to me now - I do get an aromatic, sort of herbal-woody scent that's not as sweet as I remember from January. There's still a bit of a resinous note, but I'm not detecting plastic anymore, which is a good thing! I don't dislike it and could see myself wearing it more often throughout the summer. Maybe the heat and humidity help, or maybe this was a case where maceration was a factor. In any case, it just goes to show that sometimes it pays to revisit a fragrance.

This review is for Amber Oud Rouge (gold plate front, red bottle, red and gold box). I am very curious why this specific perfume is excluded from Fragrantica when many sites are offering it for sale. Disclaimer: I have never smelled Baccarat Rouge 540 by MFK. I several "dupes" or "clones" of BR 540, including Burberry Her, Burberry Her Intense, Ariana Grande Cloud, and now Amber Oud Rouge by Al Haramain. Amber Oud Rouge is amazing. By itself, I could see it being a lot like Cloud by AG. But side by side, I'm definitely smelling more of a saffron, woody note in the Al Haramain perfume, while AG Cloud smells more sweet and girly. But if they weren't side by side, I might not be able to tell them apart. If I could imagine what BR 540 smells like based on its descriptions and supposed "dupes" or "clones", this would be pretty close. If not, this fragrance can definitely stand on its own. I was instantly pleased, and it's quite delicious. Sweet & Smoky Forest Amber... I came back to this one after awhile, and the amber-resin notes are now amplified and sweetened up. imagine the crackle of a bonfire, while wood smoke and the scent of sweet, melted tree resin billow into the night sky surrounded by a forest cathedral. If you sat by a bonfire all night in a damp forest, the next day your clothes would have a certain smell - this is the scent I get in the top notes. Underneath there's a sweeter amber-resin that holds everything together with reminders for me of Ambre Sultan Serge Lutens. Overall: beast mode performance and a bold sweet & smoky amber scent profile. it's a love for me. Enjoy! p.s. This review is for Amber Oud - the original one (sometimes the boxes get mixed up, but this one should not have any black lettering on the front - Amber Oud Tobacco Ed. should have Tobacco written in small black letters on the front).

To my understanding Al Haramain is an Emirati brand that offers both high quality frags with high quality ingredients (neroli portfolio for example) but then also has a lower end offering many of which are inspired by other popular fragrances. In all honesty I don’t think this brand focuses solely on western fragrances as it’s inspiration. One of the most successful fragrances in the Middle East in the last 10 years has been Arabian Oud Kalamat and my nose just seems inspired by that much more expensive fragrance from Saudi Arabia.

Fragantica need to add "Amber Oud Rouge" as a listed perfume on their website, nevertheless, here's my review for that particular perfume: Stunning! This is a duplicate for Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait - It smells identical. The duplicate for Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau De Parfum (EDP) is "Manege Rouge" by Al Haramain. Does anyone know any other duplicate perfumes done by Al Haramain?

it has nothing of interlude man, it looks like amber oud gold edition, it is however a sweet citrus fruity and does not last long, the best of this family are amber oud tobacco edition and amber oud rouge, perfect tv clones tom ford and baccarat rouge extrat , are two amazing perfumes with super top performance, at least 12 hours of longevity and projection

This is one that is definitely leaning towards being an amouage interlude men clone. Agree with @msajoy. bought it last week because of it being associated with the interlude and i can say i am very much satisfied. will have to try ard al zaafaran midnight oud or shaghaf oud abyad for the cheaper price point.

So funny it's totally wrong here! It's Just like Ambar oud gold edition And they are dupe of Erba pura only! And it's the 1st and best one still in this Amber oud line after carbon/tobacco and blue.. Gold and gold extreme whatever all the same thing! Nice Scent unisex for sure! Unisex 8/10

i really felt its a clone of Interlude man of Amouage.dint see any similarities with Tobacco Vanille, but we all have different noses and i respect that.if you like interlude this is cheaper but not very cheap... id go with midnight oud by Ard Al Zaafaran

This is simple greatness. Al Haramain has given TF TV a run for its money. If you want TV on the cheap...even cheaper than Alexadria Sweet Smoke...with stellar quality get this. AMAZING JUICE for the collector on the cheap.

Just got my bottle and currently the signs are looking good, total clone of TF Tobacco Vanille, longevity and performance seems to be very good, box and bottle are simply gorgeous. So far thumbs up!!!

This is a sweet resinous amber fragrance. Great for the winter or cold weather.

Perfume 4, tested on paper, sample size Sweet and spicy (cinnamon, cardamom, and similar notes), with vanilla, a subtle boozy nuance, a touch of honey, and a pleasant woodiness that reminds me of well preserved antique wooden furniture. Oud is generally not a note I enjoy. In fact, I often find it offputting, and seeing "oud" in a fragrance's name usually doesn't make me eager to try it unless it's a well known perfume or from a brand I'm interested in. I should mention that I've had this sample in my collection for about two years. I'm not sure whether that has affected the scent, as I don't remember exactly how it smelled when I first bought it, but I don't detect any oud here, at least not in the way I personally perceive the note. If it's present, it stays well in the background. There's also a faint impression of tea, something along the lines of black tea or a black tea blend. This is very much a winter fragrance, perhaps suitable for late autumn as well. It reminds me of honey and spice cookies paired with black tea that has a splash of bourbon. I picture it as the kind of scent I'd wear while I'm tucked in a blanket in front of the TV on a cold winter day. It is unisex leaning to masculine. Also, I compared it side by side with Interlude Man by Amouge and smelled two different perfumes.

A beautiful resinous amber scent that feels mature & luxurious. It has a mild vanilla sweetness & something very unique about it: a burnt wood smell, that just adds to its beauty. I didn't like it immediately when I first smelled it but as it developed, I loved it more & more. When I first smelled it, I thought it reminded me of a Tom Ford fragrance & I see here mentioned that it smells a little like Tobacco Vanille & I'd agree but note that Amber Oud is not a clone & is a different, beautiful scent on its own. Potent with a strong sillage & lasting longevity.

my correction after all those days of wearing this ... it ́s a lovely fragrance, sensual and unique .. got lots of unsolicited compliments (some days i ́m laying it with prada l ́homme to get a different smell) it ́s true that it smells more similar to amouage interlude or has that gentle dessert air arabian vanilla smell/vibe ..

it ́s nowhere near to tom ford tobacco vanille totally has no cherry/vanilla/tobacco smell it ́s just amber mildly sweet fragrance ... it can be used probably at any season, any time of day and by any gender ... leaning more to a feminine side

People are confused! This one is straight an Interlude Clon! Best mode performer !

First impressions. I get a straight up semi-sweet leather accord with some citruses. Reminds me of Montale Aoud Leather, but also reminds me of some other fragrances from this category, like Tuscan Leather or Ombre Leather. The sweetness itself is indeed ambery and resinous, but I definitely get no oud. So I'm rather confused about the note pyramid as well as the title of the fragrance. The scent itself I find appealing. It's more serious and grown up than a lot of modern quasi-gourmand leathers, but it still has a modern appeal and is not a retro fragrance.

When i first sprayed it , it smelled okay . it smelled similar to my other winter fragrances. It was a blind buy so i do wish i brought the gold instead but now that ive let it sit it smells actually good . It smells almost sweet yet still very masculine.

PSA: This is NOT a clone of Interlude Man. Not even close. You may now put your heads back in the sand...which would probably smell more like Interlude Man than this ever will.

Beast mode clone of Interlude Man, incense smoke, spices, and amber. 2-3 sprays are suffice.

All Amber and resins. Nothing like Interlude man which I have and like. Also nothing like Tom Ford tv which I also like. Amber Oud Al Haramain is however quite unpleasant. I am so glad this was a free sample. I can throw it away and pretend it doesn't exist. I am going to have to shower to get rid of this atrocious concoction. I have smelled worse scents but not many. Checked the price and its not cheap either.

After reading so many reviews hyping this I finally tried iz and you know what this is too expensive for what it is cheap smelling synthetic mess truing to pretend its some oud amber frag

I don't understand the comparison to TV. It's a greeny, "woudy", ambery Parfum. Try before you buy. PS. The Perfume Pyramid is 100% exact.

This is one of the most confusing fragrances I've smelled. I've never tried interlude man so I can't compare but this genuinely just smells like women's shampoo to me but with beast mode projection. Unfortunately the projection makes it nauseating to me since it's so strong it can genuinely fill up an entire room with a single spray. I love the other Amber Oud frags and assumed I'd love this one since it sounded fresh and cedary by the note breakdown but the resins and amber really killed this fragrance by adding a ton of unnecessary sweetness to the point that it makes all the notes fall apart. I only get sweet, slightly fresh, and oriental vibes from this. Not my cup of tea at all. I'll stick with the Bleu and Carbon Editions instead which are much more up my alley.

It opens somewhat fruity and spicy simultaneously. Then I start sensing some leathery woods, amber, and resinous notes.... ...then the synthetic, chemical killer in this emerges to destroy my nasal passages. This is also strong as f@$&! It nearly poisoned me while laying next to my bed on a scent strip. I had to dispose of it with my remaining working brain cells the next day. I can't comment other than that. Maybe it could have smelled good, but it's some kind of human bug spray to me. Hide your children, hide your pets! :)

My first scrubber! Way too strong and definitely feminine leaning. I have worn Tobacco Vanille and this is not similar in any shape or form. No idea how that comparison got started, unless people are reviewing a different version/flanker. There's also no oud in this one, which is a huge letdown and misleading. I ended up giving this one to a friend, I'll have to check in and see how he likes it. But this is a big no from me.

i blind bought this and love it. it has no oud in it which is odd due to name but to me a great scent. i just took a shower and washed my wrists where i had sprayed it hours before. I even used soap and held the shower nozzle on my wrists. i can still smell it and more than just a skin scent. A beast. Now the tobacco version - bought this blind. A mistake. All you smell is sweet tobacco fragrance like in a very cheap bottle of sweet tobacco fragrance oil,maybe harimain is 15% different but hardly noticeable. The tobacco is extremely strong. i tried washing it off and really had to work at it three times to get it down to about 25%. Sad Harimain made such a product, not complex, basically just one note tobacco and too much. I had only used three sprays and one spray was anemic. i will have the rouge version in few days and report on that. In passing harimain website does say they use real oud in some of their fragrances. Oud is not that expensive i would guess about $1000 to $1500 a litre the way they buy it. i would guess a 100 ml decanter has maybe 5 drops in it or there about. There are quality differences, aging, what country oud came from, type of oud, etc. Maybe if you go after perfume that is $500+ for 3.4 oz. they might use a more expensive oud especially if it is like $800 but even then with just a few drops in the decanter how expensive is it really for the manufacturer. i think much of the money spent on a scent goes to the perfumer, the packaging, and marketing. The raw materials going into the product probably account for precious little of expense. Above all else it is an exercise in marketing using brand names for credibility, trust and reputation. Remember they are mass appealing and testing the perfumes for feedback on a large audience to hit as big of an audience they can get. So then whatever is cost effective and yet still sells is used. I doubt expensive oud meets there needs. Thus comes smell good cheap synthetics. So an underdog like Al Haramain makes his products project far better with much more sillage like an offset to not being a designer but he sort of became a designer that gives you more bang for the buck.

@samswim You're comparing the wrong scents. Al Haramain Amber Oud TOBACCO EDITION is the dupe for Tom Ford Tobacco Vanilla, not this one, as the name sates, this is simply the original AMBER OUD of this fragrance line. There are also other "editions" of amber oud that are different color bottles, dupes for other different fragrances, but they have their own pages on this website. This is the classic AMBER OUD original scent. And as an owner of TF TV and Amber Oud TOBACCO EDITION, I can say they are almost identical. Also, not sure where you checked the price, but Al Haramain scents are less than 25% the price of Tom Ford. Most of the reviews here seem to be for Amber Oud ROUGE as well. You aren't going to get BR540 unless you buy Amber Oud ROUGE. And GOLD EDITION smells nothing like TFTV or BR540 or this original Amber Oud, it's a different scent as well, though I never tested the designer version of what that one is a dupe for. They're each wildly different scents. Check the names before reviewing, lest you trick others into buying the wrong scent.

There is a confussion tidal wave here in some reviews: So it goes like this, Amber Oud Collection from Al Haramain has several versions that resemble other niche ones. *Amber Oud : Amouage Interlude Man *Amber Oud Gold: Xerjoff Erba Pura *Amber Oud Tobacco: Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille *Amber Oud Rouge: MFK Baccarat Rouge 540 extrait *Amber Oud Blue: Chanel Bleu (not on fragrantica yet) *Amber Oud Carbon: Creed Green Irish Tweed (not on fragrantica yet) *Amber Oud White: Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Intense (Not on fragrantica Yet) *Amber Oud Emerald Extrait d'parfum Exclusiff: wich I don't know what this dupes for and also not on fragrantica yet. Hope this helps to be more familiar with this whole Collection. Personally, I love the rouge and gold editions both masterpieces, super high quality fumes with luxurious packgaging. Edit: I've recently seen an exclusiff extrait d'parfum amber oud sport (red+black bottle)and that same version of the original Amber oud, haven't smelled them yet tho.

We truly are living in a bizarre era where people are buying and reviewing clones and dupes based on fragrances they never even smelled in the first place - and then commenting on what they 'imagine' the original would smell like to them! And this is becoming more and more common I notice... Why on earth would you even want to do that? Especially at a time when it has never been easier to sample fragrances.... For what it's worth, the Al Haramain Amber Oud fragrances are reasonably good, well-performing alternatives but not substitutes for the fragrances they copy (or approximate). In themselves, however, they definitely need to be tested before a purchase, and you may always be far happier with 10 ml of the original than 100 ml (or 60 ml in this case) of a copy that you don't even reach for. Sampling and testing before buying a bottle is always the best approach. No matter where and how fast the YouTube hype-train is going.....

Ah, this bottle... there's a lot of confusion around it, so let me try to bring in some light to this: 1- Amber Oud - this bottle, the initial North America release was a clone of Tobacco Vanille yet the rest of the world got the same bottle but the juice is a clone of Amouage Interlude. No way of identifying the bottles themselves as the SKUs are the same (only scent will tell). Note, the Tobacco Vanille version of this particular bottle was discontinued and instead replaced by "Amber Oud Tobacco Edition" which is a smokier clone of Tobacco Vanille. This bottle will continue to be a Interlude clone in the future. 2- Amber Oud Gold Edition - has been and will be a clone of Sospiro Erba Pura. 3- Amber Oud Tobacco Edition - smokier clone of Tobacco Vanille. Hope this helps! I have the Tobacco Vanille version of this bottle and it is a great fragrance, very close to the version it clones.

Seriously ; this is what Interlude Man smells like ?? I got this by accident because they were supposed to send me Oud Rouge -- and I got this instead . So far , I have liked all these Haramains and I decided to give this a shot : it is STRONG and you will be smelling this for a long time as will the people around you. (Is that good or bad? LOL) The first blast is "that fake cheap oud smell" that Zara and others use. Ugh. Then lemon , bergamot and rosemary appear to cheer things up a bit. Then -- it smells like there's a FIGHT between the fruit and the fake oud smell ! You're then left with that stinky "fake Zara oud smell" and a hint of tobacco . FAIL. P.S. People need to check their spelling and grammar in this thread ! I can barely read & comprehend some of these reviews.

I was expecting something similar to TV. No. It's an exact Interlude clone. Interlude is one of my all time favorites so I didn't mind the extra sample.. but there's some very misleading reviews right here. Al Haramain - Amber oud Tobacco Edition smells like a TV clone. Quality of this Interlude clone is great btw. But you can find the same quality in other clones like Swiss Arabian - Shaghaf Oud Abyad, and that one is usually 20 bucks cheaper. This clone offers nothing more, only a different bottle which looks 'ok'.

This in my opinion stands on its own. There is a faint vibe of both the icons TV & Interlude. This is mildly smoky resin with amber with musk and oud. This is a crowd pleaser fragrance with rounded, well blended ingredients. No harsh edges. The people at Al Haramain are very friendly and way back in 2014 at Dubai Mall I had tried their iconic Princess of Perfumes set. All the ingredients used in their perfumes are very good. Do visit their flagship store at Dubai Mall to try Shaik Al Arab and other fragrances.

So, if you take into consideration the comments below this one, this fragrance currently has similarities with: Montale Aoud Leather Tuscan Leather Ombre Leather Interlude Man NOT Interlude Man Marzipan Versace Eros Flame Tobacco Vanille What a fantastic cross section of opinions from the Fragrantica audience and this helps all of us to make an educated blind buy decision. WTAF.

I do not own and have not worn this fragrance myself but a co-worker in my office wears this. I finally got the gumption to ask what he was wearing after months of walking by and getting this lovely scent cloud when I walked past his cubicle block. It’s a dry woody scent with a hint of spice. Office appropriate, or at least the amount my co worker sprays is office appropriate.

This perfume is definitely sweet. I'm surprised that there's no vanilla in it. It reminds me of Ariana Cloud but with a smokiness to it. I told my Husband it reminds me of a cigarette smoker that sprayed something sweet on to mask the smell lol it's not bad (I actually like this perfume) but idk how else to describe it.

There are two versions of this floating around under the name of Amber Oud. I have both of them and everything about the bottle is identical except the fragrance. One smells identical to TV and the other is straight up Interlude. Hope that clears the air. Both are exceptional in my opinion.

I don't see any similarities with Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. This is without a doubt an Amouage Interlude clone without the beast mode performance. So if you don't like smelling of smoke for 20 hours this could be for you as the longevity is excellent without being too much.

This is not “Oud Tobacco” for gods sake! I don’t understand the ones who say this is literally Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford. There aren’t even vanilla or tobacco notes in this one. At least check the perfume name before commenting.

nice one, i purchase it from Qatar 300 QAR, long lasting, and projection very mice, people notice it, it might be strong in the opening note, but it get very nice woody smell in the middle note..

I can't believe there are people who think those 4 fragrances (this, rouge, tobacco, gold) in the similar bottles are all the same. I guess I am never reading a review on here again haha.

Not impressed al haramain! This is a big sweet mess. No oud or amber, or any of the notes listed really, it's just a big ball of generic, basic sweetness. It's not THAT cheap either.

There is not one redeeming quality with this. No Oud or anything close. No Amber, nothing. It’s generic and has no distinct smell of anything in particular. Do not buy!!!!!

IDK why there is no "Amber Oud Rouge" on here. It is a dupe of BR 540 and it is AMAZING. Slightly burnt cotton candy w/ a touch of expensive plastic? Deep rich sweetness

I ordered a decant (not yet received) instead of blind buying it. I was egar to have this fragrance but I become a bit suspicious... where's the oud in the notes list?
