Badar

This is one of my favorite Al Haramain fragrances. It is absolutely unique, yet it does remind me a bit of a particular accord that appears in some Jeanne Arthes scents: an adept balancing of clean lavender against sweet florals, creating a smooth something that smells both sweet and clean without being either overtly feminine nor masculine. I love it personally. Badar starts off with a soapiness- like the finest, creamiest milled soap that you can imagine- but underneath and beyond this can be sensed a rising, complex aroma of sweet woods and delicate blossoms drenched in honey. I sometimes imagine also that I am smelling sweet tobacco, like the fumes of shisha from far away. There is an intoxicating peacefulness about this fragrance, like seeing a moonlit sky through the open, arched windows of a room lit by colourful lanterns, close friends sitting and reclining nearby, discussing life and all of its wonder.

Scent: 8 I feel It as a sweet floral fragance. What i smell the most is honey, rose and patchouli. Longevity: 10 It is a very long lasting perfume. It lasts around 6 hours on my skin. Problem id that being an oil cannot be used on clothes. Sillage: 8 The projection is good. It doesnt leaves a Big trail bit people can feel It for q long time. Quality/price: 10 4.50€/15ml (what lasts as 150 ml of an alcohol based perfume) os quite incredible. I recommend blind buy cause if yoy dont like It can give It away without loosing much money. Versatility: 10 Badar is a totally versatile perfume. More for a daily use maybe. I feel It totally unisex too, i dont feel It more feminine , but It is true that It is honey and flowers so if yoy are a Guy and dont like this kind of sweet scent dont use It. It goes un the líne of black orchid so if yoy like that one this is for you. Global: 8

Badar is my go-to comfy scent, it's a grounding, feminine, comforting hug. Somehow, I can imagine a distinguished man dabbing a tiny bit on himself, perhaps to layer it? Within seconds of application, I detect honey (which lasts throughout, enhancing each individual note), a juicy citrus (which fades within 10 mins or so), and a watery, but lovely musky rose. The scent develops throughout the day, but maintains some linearity. Curiously, I think I pick up on some water lilies, which blends wonderfully with the lavender note. I like to apply a little on my clothes, because it somehow skips the initial citrusy note I find a little off-putting. However, the citrus itself is good, I am just not a fan of citrus accords to begin with. I find myself wearing the perfume more at home, because it's so calming and helps decompress after a long day. It's a sweet, homey delight <3

my favourite scent from this line. It's very powerful, extreme longevity and enormous sillage. i agree with jesse, it's more masculine than unisex(in my opinion), but this is subjective!. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed! it's a magic scent! i like to wear it in cold weather but i love to wear it in the summer nights too! It's sweet but not too sweet and lavander mixed with musk make it also fresh in some way. Patchouli, amber, musk, lavander, honey and rose (the rose is very well blended so it doesn't turn into a "only for women" scent). Pure magic and it's inexpensive (but it does not smell cheap!). To me this is a must have!

Very very unique and pretty. Opens with the sweet honey and rose. The honey note quickly fades as lavender presents. The honey makes this a sweet rose but the lavender keeps it from getting too rosy or too honey, though it is a bit jammy. Herbal jam. There's underlying musk, too. Loving it. Glad I grabbed it for the price point. In the final drydown it reminds me a bit of the base of Lancome's L'Autre Oud and Oud Bouquet though there is no oud on this ride.

Got it! Paid for it the equivalent of 5$ for 15ml of pure perfume. It is definitely an unisex fragrance. It is a sweet-floral fragrance, a bit fresh and even though it may have quite of a common smell, it is very pleasant. Projection is heavy, you can keep it moderate by using less. It is a long-lasting perfume, will stay with you all day. I can't make up my mind if I like it or if I love it, but it's definitely a keeper.

Oh this one is a keeper for sure! I love it. Very sweet, the way I like perfume. Better than Makkah. Think I will be giving that one away. This is just so lovely! Definitely get the sweet, honey scented, floral and rosy. Not sure about anything else. I do recommend this one if you like sweet scents. Really beautiful. I accidentally initially posted this on Million but checked and realised I had Badar, Doh!

Smells very similar to the sadly now discontinued body shop white musk smoky rose. Maybe a tiny bit sweeter but it's as near as makes no difference.

A summer ago I decided that Sultan - also by Al Haramain shouldn't be my only Attar. A few dupe perfume oils followed, but soon I ended up at Al Haramain again with their glorious array of oils. Badar might not have one of those "fancy" attar bottles, but it is definitely among the better quality oils, and (imho) one of the nicer ones. None of the notes come across as synthetic, they're all smooth (finally a patchouli I can stand!) and while most can be identified as individual scents Bader is still a wonderfully balanced blend. The honey is one of the stronger opening & remaining notes without being indolic. Great! No-one wants to smell like urine, after all :). Badar opens with that honey, but as it does it is arm in arm with a citrus accord that isn't mentioned on Fragantica. As a result the honey isn't overly sweet and the citrus can't turn sour or toilet cleaner-ish. While the citrus disappears and the honey diminishes in strenght a rose appears. It's a soft, demure rose. It's soft pink petals have escaped the dew and she's fully in bloom, but not as out-there and intense as her red sister. Together with a green patchouli and elegant - teeny tiny earthy - musk she enters the dry down, becoming one with "the earth". The honey is initially barely there in the dry down, only hints of it can be found far far away in the background. So, is that it then? Funnily enough in the early stages of the dry down most of the notes seem to almost disappear, only giving me an earthy greenness from the patch &musk with a soft rose. And then suddenly : BAM! Major rose blast. It's as if the skin first needed to "Set a few things straight" with Badar and then let her signal one of her prettier notes. For all intents and purposes Badar is a rose oil, on a green Musky bed. However, as did the rose, that tiny hint of honey here also got its passport and gets stronger once the oil has warmed up on my skin ( applying the oil on "heat points " is essential for it to develop properly). It's a shame the opening as a whole ( the honey citrus ) didn't last and the amber and lavender won't get any say at all ( again: on my skin), or this oil would've been much more complex. But, that's not to say this Al Haramain isn't pretty. It is! It's a very comfy, sweet smelling hug that works for most occassions and could interest anyone from 18 to 108. Badar, on me, is a typical perfume oil. This means that it doesn't have anything beyond an intimate projection & sillage, but you can count on the scent to stay with you for a proper long time. My skin is very, very dry so she won't give me any more than 5hrs. But that's most likely also because I don't get any amber, and mostly musk. Strong amber fragrances tend to last on me for the whole day, some surpassing the 12hr mark easily (Lattafa Eternal Oud, MFK Grand Soir, Dior Ambre Nuit, Oriental Notes Sweet Amber : some of my favorite fragrances and definitely my best longevity ones ) and musky ones simply don't. I can get longer wear out of this oil if I treat it as a body lotion instead of perfume oil. But that's a waste of money imho and it'll make me too greasy. I personally consider Badar a yearround fragrance because it isn't strong enough to choke anyone out, nor does it have any typical wintery or summery notes. All of them can appear anywhere, in anything and anytime. With that said: I prefer her as a bedtime scent and as a base for layering. But honestly: except for one (ON- Sweet Amber, a Dutch brand & creation and utterly yummy), I treat all my current perfume oils / attars like that. You don't need to. Badar is perfectly capable of "Working alone" during the day or at a dinner party. I know many consider rose to be a female note. A shame, because some rose fragrances could do well on men not afraid to rip such labels apart. With the strong influence of the Musk and Patchouli (especially if that remains on you ) and the possibility you actually get amber and /or lavender this might actually be a delightful date night fragrance for men. The honey coming back is a skin chemistry thing just as much as the amber / lavender not appearing, though I can imagine that the oil *could* potentially lean "too" feminine for most if your skin responds like mine. If you're in doubt & can't find a sample: just gift Badar to your girlfriend & then steal it for a bit to test ;). These 15ml oils are incredibly cheap (I got mine for €7, - ), so eventually having two in your home - a his & hers - won't break the bank.

To me, a very feminine concoction! I love the bottle, the packaging, the name, and the scent.... But the latter only on someone else. ;) Somehow Badar didn't turn out well balanced at all on me, starting with honeyed promise and resulting in an offensive cocktail of modern florals and celeb scent fruit. While the dry down was much deeper, I could hardly tolerate the interim... The good news, however, is that not everyone has my stubborn chemistry. :D A friend now owns my blind buy, and on her it is a thing of BEAUTY. Imagine a honeyed oud-rose with a warm, earthy-musk base and you have it! We are talking about something that smells extremely expensive and alluring and YES - exotic. Highly recommended for anyone willing to take a small risk. You can always share your 'failure' with a friend.... OR you could be in for a Seductive Treat yourself! Five Stars

One of my favorite scents from this inexpensive line; As many of you probably already know middle eastern perfumes are nothing like the western perfumes, so if you never tried them, then it's probably better if you get your nose on them before you buy any, to me Arabian perfumes are better than western EDT, or EDP and with oils I find better if you rub it against your skin and heat it up for the real scent to come out, but if you rather not rub it, then just give it a few minutes for the final aroma to present it self; I don't quite get the rose, or may be its just overpowered by the other scents but I do get the others mentioned in the description...to me this is a pleasant not cloying scent which is more masculine than unisex, but I guess some women can pull it off

I blind buy it ...than after a month of laying on the shelf I gave it to my mother. Now it came back to me(boomerang gift:))) . Being an oil perfume I can only "judge" it from my skin's point of view :sweetness 8/10, flowerness 6/10, all well balanced. Than strangely I can sense some citrus?!?! It has a "long life", more than 8 hrs (even though after 6-7 hrs it becomes a skin scent), but all its life is linear with no ups and downs and no evolution(probably because of the lack of alcohol) .The silage is pretty good for an oil perfume. The package is delicious10/10 (like most of the miniature perfume bottles) with the small roll on very useful.I think everyone that love sweet flower fragrances should give it a try (due to its low price).

Sweet fragrance, but rather animalic, in a good way, dirty undertone and honey-sprinkled citruses hold it nicely together with flowery heart, I like it. Easy to notice, that notes on fragrantica are not right, nothing like rose-or lavender based oil in this cutie. Right notes: Top note: Rose petals, Honey, Animalizing Accord, Bergamot, Orange, Lime, Lavender Middle note: Water Lily, Orris, Rose Base note: Musk, Candy Sugar, Cedar wood, Patchouli, Amber Most prominent ones on me - honey, animalic ones, lime, orange, lily and orris and candy sugar with musk, you get a clue, anyway! Obviously nothing to do with Elixir by Clinique), strong "like" from me.

Bought this because someone said here that this reminded them of Aromatics Elixir. Well, in my opinion this is much more similar to Al Rehab Bakhour: this is creamy and clean and has the smell of a very expensive lotion. It's more unisex and heavier on the lavender but if you like Bakhour you'll like this too. Lovely. Edit: this is becoming increasingly difficult to wear for me. Perhaps because of the heat but even when I quite liked it at first, now I find it too sweet and sugary for my taste. Perhaps I'll wear it again in the winter and see if it becomes less sugary cloying

Opens very sweet, not cloying. The honey mellows down over time into creamy rose-lavander, and finishes off with lavender taking the center stage for me. It's pleasing from start to finish. The whole Pure Perfume line is a wonderful experience and my introduction to CPOs. They all have dynamic nature which I appreciate and might feel traditional at some stages, but that doesn't devalue their beauty. Outstanding value for money, convenient packaging, natural, uplifting scent.

i get a lot of musky rose and honey at first, quickly followed by a bit of lavender. there's a hint of patchouli down deep, and i get something slightly smoky as well. a little goes a long way with this one, it is quite intense. i like the scent a lot but it may be too strong, and gives me a bit of a headache, but the scent itself is nice.this scent is unisex, and no, it is not 'old lady.' what does that even mean anyway?

Wear Badar lightly or it will wear you. The smell of walking through the beauty products of your local department store. Lots of rose, amber, lavender and honey. Beautiful and exotic in moderation. Sickly, nostril filling and heavy in excess. And excess means no more than just a little.

it says unisex but sorry guys i suppose it is more like a woman perfume, i gave it to my wife.

Well reviews misquided me. It is masculine more than feminine. Too rosy for me. But the rose is very intence. The one old ladies smell. I dont want to smell anįthing like this. Lets see later

My first perfume oil purchase - I was enticed by the prominent honey note that I saw on Fragrantica. And it was £5, so I got it with my other Notino purchases. The rollerball was a bit lacking in quality - it wasn't very smooth - but I still managed to get a decent amount onto my wrist. It opens with a sweet, but not cloying honey with slightly animalic musk. It's not dirty nor skanky - more of a natural feeling musk with a little bite. I get a profusion of florals in the drydown, with a deep rose being the most prominent on my skin, accentuated by shades of lavender. The sweet honey is gone by now - a couple hours in - and the animalic notes have faded a bit, but are still present, albeit more blended with the rose now. Definitely rather oriental, but not patchouli-heavy or resinous/smoky/woody. Interestingly not very sweet. Average projection with great longevity. Great for the price.

This one is interesting, very different than a lot of the middle eastern frags I have tried in that it does smell a bit more western. It is supposed to be unisex, when first applied, there is no way this is a masculine scent, it is deeply floral, like something my mother would enjoy, but give it a few minutes and it transforms into a scent that on the right person, could be called masculine. I personally feel that this leans female however. The lavender and amber are prominent and there is a nice touch of patchouli that lingers for quite a while. The musk is subtle, but its there. I like it quite a bit, it smells clean, fresh, and expensive despite the low price tag. I think this one will grow on me, but it is taking some getting use to.

Olgarth got it just right. This is typically sweet, extremely honeyed, slightly woody and a wee bit floral. TBH, I love the Mukhallat al Arais from Swiss Arabian (thats a 1.7 oz spray EDP) and this is ditto that. Saccharine, long lasting, heavy, and a little goes a very, very and mind you, seriously very long way. Packaging: Typical AH lower spectrum bottle fair- made of glass with golden printing and a mushroom shaped shiny silver metal cap, with that tiny plastic roller applicator atop the neck of the bottle inside the cap. Smell: Honey, bit woody. Extremely long lasting and can definitely run you through a day/night. Rating: Overall, a 6.5 on 10; mainly cus of the smell. Packaging can be rehashed by AH for sure.

Well, I'm a woman and I love this! Sadly, the bottle didn't survive the post, so I got a very fragrant padded bag and about half of the oil that had somehow stayed in the bottle. This goes on quite strong, but soon settles down and develops into a fabulous cloud of fragrance - on me, rose, honey and musk with a hint of patchoukli and musk to linger. A fabulous perfume for a very reasonable price. Buy some - you will not be disappointed. A little goes a long way so this will last you for ages. I'll certainly be buying this again, and hope that next time the seller's packaging is more efficient.

This is Clinque's Elixir's cousin! But stronger and bolder to me. You could blend the two together to get a deep blast! It gives off that incensy note. The oils by these companies are not Americanized for our palate, even though they make what they call "European"or French" blend of perfumes. They are called "concentrated perfume oils". A little goes an extremely long way. Never overdo these oils, you will clear out a building. But they have good concentration.

This seems to be a well blended, decent unisex smell of a western type. Since this has been a very satisfying purchase, I plan to try also Oudi, Madinah, Makkah and Hajar from this line of products. The Badar (meaning 'Full Moon' in Arabic) can safely be worn on any ocassion in Europe or America, and I would personaly prefer a little Oudh kick into this fragrance. The packaging is very nice, the roll-on applicator works well and the price is excellent.

This is too sweet for me to put on myself. I can actually smell the individual notes which is nice. This is very middle eastern also reminds me of prayer rooms, mosques. I put it on my prayer mat and it's been almost two weeks now and I can still smell it.

So bad and so persistent I washed it a few times it won’t go away. I hit it cause reviews said it was a greenish rose. No green and no rose just a strong musk with a leatherish note and patchouli.

Hypnotic!. sweet and relaxation! very long lasting. very sexy. Love bottle. Love BADAR AND MAKKAH. MAKKAH IS VERY SWEET CPO. Namaste! thank Al Haramain. recommended.
