Dehnal Oudh Maliki Ateeqs

An excerpt from the description of the 12ml bottle which comes in a heavy wooden box: "A six pronged crucial crucial manufacturing method with no time limits turned the concept into Dehnal Oudh Maliki Ateeq. Graded, handpicked Agarwood is ground in a tailor-made grinder, which is constantly cool (or else the heat would burn the oil contents). The ground Agarwood is soaked for 3 months; and boiled in high temperature, in a special airtight container for 18 days. The vapour of oil & water mixture is then condensed through a cooling channel. The next step oozes out water leaving only Agawood oil. And it's now the enduring purifying tests start: firstly in the sun, then in normal conditions, and finally in minus degrees untill fulfilling our connoisseurs' level of expectations." The Oud here is very balanced, dark, thick and sticky. No cheese and no sharpness. The main notes are leather (old sheepskin jacket) and black musk. A ruminant composition that touches all the senses.

i smelt this twice now, once before having smelt PURE OUD OIL (ensar oud and agar aura) and after having had my nose attuned and calibrated to what oud smells. my initial impression (pre-oudication) was that it was a horrible, sticky mess. Post-oudication is that it is a pure oud smell, but the oud used in this oil is nowhere near the quality of the two companies i mentioned. there is a dark, dense wood smell which is distinguishable from the oud itself, and it adds to the overall smell in a complimentary manner. unfortunately, this can't be worn anywhere as sillage is IMMENSE. the longevity of the scent isn't as monumental as the sillage (apples and oranges, i know, but i mean in magnitude) but it is great. it's amazingly wonderful, but it's hard to pull it off with an office-type job. others just won't like it. i love it, though...

oud has various smell, i have smell some al haramain oud..back home in malaysia...in the category of very high quality, is in fact really good..in fact i have smell others of high quality, like amouage,ajmal, arabian oud,etc and i have smell the oud oil in an agriculture convention in malaysia on numbers of stalls, they have similarities strong smell,notes etc (not 100% though, but more than 50%) they shown me their highest quality oud and i smell them and tested them on my skin...i have smell ensar as well it is different from the majority of oud sellers mentioned, it smells of rotting wood and sweet oud which is nice not great...on one hand the majority of the oud supplier who has been doing oud since decades ago and on one hand ensar and agaraura who weave their oud oil with stories of grandeur in their product promoting it ....i would choose the majority though not the latter...because they have established and they do not need to weave stories the product speak for itself...of course it is strong with bitter, a bit barnyardy( for the high quality ), a bit band aid, musky and woodsy sweet...the analogy is like people talk about pure chocolate taste bitter , (i have taste pure chocolate ) then along the road somebody said it is sweet..it does makes you think though..anyway fragrance is subjective, but to say that the tuning standard should be to the two companies in quality whilst majority of others tuning do not follow the same standard is not right..akin to promoting them here..is it?

I tried this one at Al Haramain showroom at Dubai mall. This one was part of a six perfume set called empress of perfumes. The attendent was a very friendly and ultra polite gentleman who allowed me to sniff all the six attars of this fabulous collection. I remember this one as oody smell but very elegant arab type. Then I asked for the price. It was a cool 25000 dirhams for the set. But I couldn't fully understand these perfumes because I spent the whole of 10th jan'14 at dubai mall trying and buying perfumes. And in the evening at Al Haramain showroom my sense of smell was overwhelmed when I tried these ones. I tried many other scents too at Al haramain and would go back again to buy something maybe a mukkahalat. Strongly recommended as a very customer friendly showroom.
