Hajar

Al Haramain Hajar perfume oil is on the more feminine side. It's a floral that is unmistakably RED ROSE centered. It does NOT have an oud note that I can detect, so that's how it's way different from Al Haramain Oudi (rose and oud). Hajar is a beautiful floral that comes in the squared off glass roller ball in the "cigarette pack" box. It's just 15 mls. Start is powerful, thorny, wildly red rose. Then it settled after about 1/2 an hour into a sophisticated bouquet warmed by amber and balanced by sandalwood. This smells traditional, poised, elegant. Joy by Jean Patou is one of my favorite fragrances ever. I find Hajar to have a similar rose dominated aura. But I don't think this is a "dupe" by any means. Over time this softens and warms. But the rose never stops blooming. This performs better on my skin in both sillage and longevity than Al Haramain Million, Al Haramain Forever, and Al Haramain Badar. Those three are all sweeter, different notes, and more fleeting. But all of these Al Haramain fragrances mentioned are more feminine than others. I am also a fan of Al Haramain Amber, which is more unisex. The Al Haramain line is very worth exploring. I don't regret buying this and will get a second bottle soon.

Deep Comforting Rich and High quality traditional Arabic Rose scent at such a low price. Would definitely be love for traditional scent lovers. Alharamain has not disappointed me for even a single scent upto the date. Scent,Longetivity and Sillage are just exquisite. I know that we often overlook inexpensive perfumes and unknowingly we are happy with almost the same aroma in some other high-priced and good looking bottle from same or other company. This 5$ scent(here in Pakistan) gives me the same or even better experience than Ostoorah by Ajmal(50$) and Marwah(40$) by the same house Alharamain. And when wearing; nobody can tell you the difference between these three frags.Excellent blend in such a steal price. I am amazed.Respects for Alharamain!

I just LOVE this one. At first, it's just plain rose, nothing too special, but after a short while, ladies and gentlemen: this is ylang-ylang at it's best. Seriously, I'm in love with this flower, and this fragrance captures the spirit of it (bit like Samsara does), and makes me so happy, I can hardly believe, that miracles like this exist. Lasts for days on hair, on skin 12+ hours. <3

It's not rose. It's GERANIUM ( 'rose' geranium) !! And makes it thus a perfect fougere. I smelled it on a girl yesterday ( =sillage is good! ) and asked her if it was Eau Sauvage (old)! ! 'No' she said and showed me her Hajar bottle. So I had to have this one too (after Firdous, Mekkah, Al Firdous, and others). And the NOTE I smelled around her, was:FIR... so it was a MUST.. ;))

nice rose and ylang ylang. leans towards feminine side but can be pulled off by a confident guy. its fresh with warmth and depths. quite linear from start to end. longeviry is good after shower u can still smell it on ur wrist but projection is intimate. definitely office safe

This smells like MFK oud satin. About 75-80%. Starts with sour opening the followed by that oud satin scent that is lighter in comparison. Great buy if u want to wear oud satin everyday

This oil smells mysterious and sweet, I find it wonderful, and I think it's a safe blind buy for anyone, who loves ylang-ylang and oriental fragrances

Until I joined Fragrantica, it had never occurred to me to try an attar - or any of the Arabic perfumes, to be honest. I now own about 30. My interest in perfume has turned into an expensive obsession! I wish someone had warned me just how addictive this hobby would become. Hajar by Al Haramain is one of the most realistic rose fragrances I have ever smelled; it's really rich - gorgeous in fact, and rose is definitely the prominent note. It has excellent longevity, sillage arm's-length, although that may be due to my inexperience with oils. Although described as unisex, I think it's a delightful feminine fragrance. I applied it by itself initially and let it settle for a couple of hours. I've just layered with a little spray of Essential Patchouli Sumatra Jeanne Arthes, which has taken Hajar from gorgeous to sublime. Wholly recommended; at less than £4 GBP (inc. P&P) for 15ml oil from eBay UK, it is amazing value for money.

I don't see it in the notes above, but after the initial dry-down of the top notes (a nice-quality rose with a touch of citrus), it becomes apparent that the base is rather "leathery"... with a touch of oudh as well- which I really like, as it lends a mysterious, warm depth to the heart of ylang-ylang and woods. Marvelous composition. It is like perfuming oneself with scented leather!

Very rich on application with huge sillage and longevity. Ylang ylang, musk and sandalwood definitely. But what is the other floral note? It's not quite rose, is it? Great for spring and winter, but possibly too much for summer. I like it.

Very pleasant rose scent. Smells rich and natural, not at all synthetic. As with most other Al Haramain scents I've tried, works well applied to skin, but is much richer applied to fabric near skin (e.g. shirt cuff near pulse point).

HI. My gift for the holidays. Cool! YES UNISEX! Oriental Rose and Ylang, very long lasting oil. I love him! Essential Al Haramain is a great class. I would recommend for those who like ORIENT. 9/10 Namaste MY SWEET FRIENDS.

Oriental sandalwood with rose and saffron in my book. Longevity and sillage about 4 hours. Woody and unisex, I wear it when I'm craving for woody notes, beautiful!

I had to go back to the same store and get this one. I simply couldn't get it out of my head. Wonderful!! Edit: Got this at Le Meridien Al Aqah beach resort in Fujairah for double the price around 40dhs. So fascinated with this that I ordered from the Al Haramain online website at 15dhs for 4 lest it goes out of stock. Waiting for my order!! Love love love it. Smells divine on me.

This scent is not mixing well with me and made me feel physically ill. The opening smells just like a urinal cake, . . . horrible. . . and I tried it twice. After 40 minutes or so, it does change but I just can't get past the opening. One positive: I do like the packaging.

Very much a Rosescent and to the feminine side. It has a good longtivity and sillage. It was a blind buy and couldn't get there Ouidi (which I hope, has an Oud accord). Very nice if your a woman and are into rose.

I would like to chose geranium in the notes above , to review. No rose at all: Pure geranium oil. It appears that I have a big skin allergy with this oily fragrance.

Since I don't detect that much rose but I certainly smell some oud-like note like other reviewers I looked up the notes on the Al Haramain website: Top note: Ylang Ylang, Geranium Middle note: Floral, Amber Base note: Musk, Sandalwood, Gurjum Balsam, Amber, Resinous No rose?? That's weird! To my nose the oud-vibe (apparently it doens't contain actual oud, or the company is not listing all the notes which apparently also happens) is more dominant than I would like. Since I already own Oudi and some other oils with oud I don't need another scent with oud as I am not a huge oud lover. I am not saying it is a bad scent, not at all!! It is very well blended as all Al Haramains with good quality smelling ingredients and superior lasting power. On me the projection is quite big. I'd say it's unisex but slightly more masculine because of the wood dominance. I am a little disappointed though because it's not what I thought I ordered. I hoped this to be a rose-ylang ylang scent to layer with. I hope I can still use it for layering though! I recommend everyone who's blind buying from the Al Haramain - concentrated oil range (the cigarette packs) to check the notes on the companies website, as the 2 I bought blindly based on the notes on here (Forever and Hajar) are completely different than expected. There are some scents that cannot be described simply on the merit of their notes and components. They evoke images, memories and places regardless of whether one has been there or not. Hajar is one of them. It takes you on a journey to a place warm and exotic, in a beautiful room offering solace from the intense heat outside. The air is filled with the traces of spice and resins from the bakhoor and mixes with the intense smell of the roses outside; big,blood red and opulent,matured in the sun they peak through the wooden Moorish lattice and fill the room not only with their presence but their sultry, creamy aroma. There are beautiful books on the table; they speak of far away places and cultures, but curled on the soft sofa your mind is still full of the day's pleasures; the gentle breeze that cooled the scorching sun, the soft sand under your bare feet that left their short lived print as a reminder of that pleasing contact, an erotic warmth, the same you sensed when you first felt his hands gently on your shoulders, strong and manly, your lips touching his smooth neck. You want to treasure this long gone moment, play it time and again, savour it, feel its intensity all over again. This is what Hajar is to me and all from that little bottle.

For the vast majority of this fragrance, I don't smell a single rose. The notes listed by Merel36 (which she got from Al Haramain) seem a whole lot closer. To me, this is primarily a ylang ylang scent with a good amount of geranium and some very dry woods. It smells arid and cool like desert air as night falls. Now, when I first put it on, it has some of the typical god awful notes that I find in the first few minutes of most of these oils. Urinal cake. So much urinal cake. But it fades quickly and turns into an airy, synthetic smelling rose like a scented silk rose, which I'm assuming is just the way the geranium plays with the other top notes. But this only lasts about an hour. Then it fades into what I described above: arid and cooling. I see what Angela was saying about finding a shelter from the hot sun. I can see this being a good summer scent for people who hate summer scents. I want to layer it with Madinah to see if it can slice through some of the honey (which I love, but it would be nice to lighten it up some times).

Geranium is a very nice feminine scent that slightly resembles on certain types of roses'scents. And my problem with geranium (and so far with Hajar) starts here: geranium is way less expensive and almost all the cosmetics from the low-middle price range that call themselves 'rose' (lotions, soaps, shampoos, stc. use geranium oil instead of rose extract or rose absolute. So even if they smell very nice they recall an image for me of something being 'not original' "fake" and something that is less than it wants to be seen by others. Hajar is a very nice scent. Not pleasant for the first minutes but after half an hour it calms down and for me, geranium dominates the perfume with woods in the background. For me, ylang-ylang stays silent. The overall impression is something that is rather dry, dark, intimate but not really the thing you originally wanted. Geranium is also rather edgy on it's own way. Overall, this is a well-balanced and nice scent but if you buy it for a real rose scent you will be dissapointed.

Strictly for rose lovers! I am shaking my head here in disbelief, - such an amazing quality of rose for this sort of money - my best blind buy ever. And probably one of the greatest roses I have ever tried. I have Rose Divine of ID, which has 1% of Rose Absolute, so Hajar smells like it has 2% of Rose Absolute, also I am sure saffron and oud notes are missing here. It is very intimate from ylang-ylang, yet strong, warm, deep penetrating scent of Eastern rose oil with geranium, nothing like ambroxan that kills a rose for me in majority of niche, enriched by saffron and some balsam, I might agree with previous reviewer, that would better on women, but I would love to smell it on man's neck as well. Also I strongly disagree with sam ldh - Al-Haramain fragrances are waaaay better, than all Al-Rehabs put together, that's my honest verdict.

I recently discovered the Al Haramain range and I must say I am very impressed so far. This is not the first one I've tried, but somehow seems to be the easiest one to review. Hajar is a very nice blend of musky rose and ylang ylang, grounded by sandalwood and amber. The rose oil used here seems to be of excellent quality. I agree with the reviewer who said this is more western-oriented than other attars I had the chance of trying. Fortunately, I don't detect any oud in it. Not that I dislike oud, I just don't want to end up with several oils that share absolutely the same notes. How many rose-oud attars one needs? The projection is poor, or maybe I am just not used to perfume oils yet and need to adjust my hand, but the longevity is excellent. Even if you have blotting paper skin, it's still a bargain, since it's really inexpensive.

Another good scent from this very affordable line, to me this one is more masculine than unisex one, a pleasant and at the same time more "middle easter" scent than Bedar, if you will... One thing I have noticed about these oils is that they don't project as much as other oils like some of the ones from Al Rehab which is another very affordable Arabian house.

Beauty of humanity.This fragrance is like writ word,in write moment.On my skin ,this brit oriental combo of musk sandal ylang ylang and spicy rose with saffron.cremy cold and gorgeous.Fragrance is very friendly,and I believe it's safe blin buy,if you like oriental fragrances

hajar means stone in Arabic, حجر as written on the bottle... (referring to the black stone of Makkah, I ́d say), very clean,fresh, musky, little rose, quite masculine, or unisex....

I agree @Planet_X. I see Al Haramain way better than most arabic common brand, like Rasasi, Swiss Arabian, Al Rehab, Surrati, etc. A much better quality in general.

If I had to choose between Badar and Hajar, I would take this one (Hajar), but it is still too rosy. I think it would definitely perform better on a woman (35+).

Good and real attar perfume to me.Wow i am happy with it's natural blend. Rose, musky, Amber ... i am pleased. .. Longevity could be better

Good rose, amber, musk scent, reminds me of a heavier version of Jovan Intense Oud.
