Khulasat Al Oudh

I like this. A lot, Enough that I bought the oil as well as a backup bottle. I very much like the overall play of dark-floral and fruity elements over a leathery-musky base. I also pick up a faint hint of cypriol or papyrus - not enough to make it grassy or green, just a slight papery quality keeping it more dry than juicy.. Quite a unique fragrance (except for the oil of the same name which smells pretty much identical). I can see the slight similarity to Attar Al Ghutra that others have noted. Both scents share a dusky non-feminine rose note and a certain sort of balance to their blend. Not siblings, but perhaps distant cousins. I can also see a vague parallel with Tuscan Leather, though in Khulasat the leather is less prominent and more polished, and the fruitiness less focused and more submerged. A subtle marine quality helps set it apart too. I don't get a powerful oud note in Khulasat Al Oud. There's oud accord in there, enough to add some complexity and a hint of woodiness to the body. But it isn't central; for me there's no skankiness and no fecal opening note. I'm also not getting as much smoke as others seem to perceive. Far less smoky IMO than Maahir Black or Khalis Black Oud, both of which I consider rather potently smoky. Here the smoke is subtler, an atmospheric element rather than a presence that strikes you immediately. (Of course, it's possible that newer batches are different to mine from 2023.) I do concur with others' opinions that this is fairly linear; it doesn't evolve much from one hour to the next although I notice a slight powdery note in the late drydown. It does not go golden-warm in the drydown; I think there isn't enough amber in the blend for it to take over as it so often does. Anyway, I like that it retains its personality and in this case I don't consider linearity to be a serious flaw. Over time this has become a contender for my daytime signature scent. Distinctive enough to stand out yet unlikely to offend anyone. It isn't sweet and it isn't spicy, and it isn't blue or aquatic or gourmand. Not overly aggressive; it doesn't take over a room. Works for all four seasons (but not for the hottest Summer days). Decent longevity - especially for the price point - yet it fades back enough that putting on a different scent for evenings isn't a problem. On my skin I'm getting six hours endurance with around an hour and a half of moderate projection. The longevity has improved a bit since I bought it. Initially it lasted about 4 hours; now it's a solid six (BTW I'm not a heavy sprayer - two inside each elbow or wrist, and two to my neck). I can understand why some wouldn't recommend this as a blind buy. At the same time, I'd say at this price it'd be hard to harbor any serious regrets over it. I kinda like that this frag is underappreciated. Maybe the fact that I waited so long to review a favorite scent reflects an unconscious urge to gatekeep it.

I’ve just recived it and unpacked so its still cold due to bad weather today but I can’t belive that some people deny the resemblance of tuscan leather here. It’s not a twin, but a very close relative. Mby a twin from the other ovary. I can’t say it’s bitter, it’s somehow fresh and in a very cool masculine way. The smoke is there, but the thing you get first (and it’s like a big whip to your face) is the leather. Baggy, thick brown leather. This is somehow more rugged than most leather scents i’ve smelled in the past. If you ever smelled Ombre Leather by TF, and thought it’s too much then this is probably waaay to much. OL is a rockstar wearing YSL leather pieces. This one is a folk singer-songwriter smoking cigs and wearing vintage, naturally distressed, brown leather trucker jacket. I hope the performance is there! It’s unbelivable for it’s price. If it would be more expensive, I’ll probably don’t mind it that much. But for 20$? I consider buying a backup bottle. Edit: As it dries down, the smoke is getting way more noticable in a very coaly way. If I can recommend a song that would smell like this it would be „Appalachia” by Chelsea Wolfe

Every now and then you come across a fragrance you just want to keep for yourself, this is one of them:) It's a scent that messes with my brain, it's smells like something you remember but you can't figure out what. It keeps the darkish leathery smokiness in check with a variety of sweet notes that are hypnotizing to me. it could be offsetting to some but if you dig these weird sweet notes that open up memory lane it's very special. It's hard to discribe but i'll give it a go:) it's a mix of chemically flavoured water ice cream from the 80s with candy vibes/red fruit notes mixed with other memory's from the past, which is polishing a creamy, animalic, leathery, smokey, woody oudy base. I personally was shocked when i smelled it with the price in the back of my mind, normally that works against the fragrance, i shamefully admit that i'm fairly influenced if i know the price upfront. It makes me think that they can make all the fragrances cheaper since they can create this for the money it sells for. I actually think the price works against the fragrance:) it's in the nah it can't be good don't even bother range.

#1040 in my "Tour de Fragrance" If you just go by the noted you'd think this was an attempt to clone PDM "Godolphin." But the opening is more fecal than sweet, though thankfully the fecal note dissipates in about 20 minutes, but it never smells like Godolphin. Through the day (and it does last on the skin all day and projects arm's length for 4 hours) this comes off like you built a fire it an outdoor brazier in your back yard using a resinous wood with some hint of rose bush from the neighbor's yard wafting in on the breeze. I personally find it comforting. So I'll wear it regardless of any reaction. If you like oud scents at all you'll like this well enough. This is more for the guys. It's not offensive if you apply it a half hour before contact with someone else. Otherwise they'll think you stepped in something. Not a big deal to me. You get that barnyard note in the opening with many oud scents. I think this was a good blind buy.

Khulasat Al Oudh is not here to play nice, and it certainly doesn't care about modern crowd-pleasing trends. This is a bold, dark, and uncompromising fragrance that bypasses synthetic sweetness in favor of raw character. What makes it so addictive, and keeps my nose glued to my forearm all day, is its fascinatingly tactile scent profile. It carries a distinct, vintage industrial atmosphere: the sharp, phenolic, and resinous aroma of warm Bakelite. It evokes the smell of heated vintage electronics, dark tarry leather, and dense smoke. As it warms up on the skin, it unveils an almost archaeological depth: austere, dry, and deeply hypnotic. It is a severe and mesmerizing piece of traditional Middle Eastern perfumery. Absolutely not for everyone, but for those who appreciate pure, unfiltered presence, it is an absolute gem.

The first spray really shocked my system. It's a bit odd in the first 10 to 20 seconds, then it starts to open up and you get what the fragrance is about. Imagine pouring a bottle of a blue shower gel on an ashtray full of cigarette butts and ash.. that's what this fragrance smells like. It's a unique smoky ultra masculine scent. Smells really good on skin and performs well above average. Recommended for smoky scent lovers.

Impressive Oudy scent, for me pretty linear. An intense woody, smokey scent with an ambery undertone. It smells lightly fecal and acidic, as by nearly all oud fragrances from my experience. The smoke is something I could still smell after 10 hours of spraying. Maybe not a blind buy as it can imagine it being suffocating for some people. Really impressive for a price below 20 euros.

This is a killer, a very strong scent, smokey leather and a rose, sprayed on clothes it lasts all day, picked it up at Dubai airport a few years ago for around £12. Very manly and strong. Never smelled anything like this at the time. Amazed YouTube reviewers are not all over this hyping it to the max. Scent:9/10 Silage:8/10 Longevity:8/10

It is a leathery perfume quite cheap and lineal. It is a bit boring because of the synthetics that don't evolve, nevertheless it's a compliment magnet. I never received as many unsolicited compliments with a fragrance as with this one, even from a niche retailer. It projects strongly and people love it.

If I could call it something, I would call it the Fall cousin of Lattafa’s Atlas or Megamare. It won’t take many sprays to do the job. Definitely get the sea notes, rose, smoke, and leather off rip. I’ll let this macerate and come back later.

A very nice fruity leather, similar to many others in the genre such as La Yuqawam Homme, Oro 1920, Godolphin and Tuscan leather. This is much more affordable than the others (less than 30 eur / 100 ml) and is still of very high quality.

Very dark fragrance. Smokey and resinous, like a real macho man. It's daring and beautiful. It's like a burning tires with some sweetness. A very original smell. Love it! Longevity is very good but not beast. Projection is moderate.

Blind buy. The opening is a bit harsh. Atomizer not great. It definitely has an oud-ish scent, even if oud is not a listed note. After a few minutes, the harshness disappears. Purchased for $9 on Amazon.

it can be a great collection in your oud-based perfume. However, do not expect any fresh notes here. it is a beast of smock and woody smell. a power house

Beast of a fragrance , and something which stands out of the crowd . Costs around 50USD in India . 2 sprays is enough for the entire day . 10/10 for me .

For me it smells like an old ashtray. I can't get this reference out of my mind so I find it totally unwearable

Don't be fooled by the name; there's no hint of oud to be found here. Instead, its base serves up an authentic combination of creamy, smoky, animalic, and balsamic elements. In an oddly nostalgic way, it evokes memories of walking into a luxury car showroom as a kid. You know that distinct, indefinable smell of premium car interiors? Yeah, it's like that. Unexplainable leather aroma is here too. It's a fragrance loaded with smell memories. The bottle pictures vintage masculinity with its faux-leather cork belt and orange, gummy texture. It looks like something your granddad proudly displayed on his dresser back in the day. It is long-lasting, to say the least, and starts with a sillage that screams before settling into a more intimate aura. Khulasat al Oudh is an emotional rollercoaster, a heady mix of smoky, leathery, and citrusy elements that culminate in an animalistic creamy base. Think of a biker speeding down the highway; his tires grinding against the asphalt. It has this gritty, burning tire vibe that's just hypnotic to me. So if you're one to shy away from smoky, complex scents, this might not be your jam. But if you're a connoisseur of the unique niche, then this fragrance might just be your next signature scent. when you're near in some incinerator or somewhere and there is bonfire ... and the smell of that burning sticks to your clothes or your skin i think that's how this perfume smells !!!!!!!! very very smoky.... and leathery... i have sample la yuqawan PH and Aoud leather montale... some people saying that la yuqawam is very similar with khulasat... haha sorry man.. im disagree.. they both is totally different.. maybe after 15 minutes similarity is come ... but doesn't make the identical or Cloning for layuqawam PH.. but if we are talking about layuqawam and Aoud leather montale.. yes they are very similar this khulasat is very manly on the dry down !!! nice leather blend with spicy notes on the dry down.. but little bit sharp at first spray... about this smokey from this perfume is very real and this perfume will grow in you about longevity.. this is good i give score 9/10 for longevity.. sillage 8/10 scent is 8/10

This perfume has a very strong smoky scent. The main accords mention leather, but I personally didn’t get much leather from it. Instead, it reminded me more of an intense incense-like smell, almost like the scent you notice in Buddhist or Hindu temples. I think oud is not really for everyone, which might be why it is not as common in the European market. This one has a hard, smoky character. Other oud perfumes usually have that incense type of smell too, but this one feels much stronger and heavier. The performance is really impressive. Even after showering and washing with soap, the scent still stays on the skin. With Al Haramain Opposite Pink, only a little bit of the scent was left after washing, but with this oud perfume, the smell was still much stronger and more noticeable. Overall, this is a powerful smoky oud fragrance, but it may not be for people who prefer soft or sweet perfumes.

Got the perfume oil as a gift and loved it. So I bought this as soon as soon as I saw the perfume. I laughed when I saw the listed notes - sea notes? Where? I'm happy for whoever got sea notes from their batch. This is SMOKED leather with a hint of sweetness. Take note of the word in capitals because to a lot of the people around you, that is what you will smell like - a leather jacket just rescued from a burning sweet shop filled with smoke. And that smell will stick to any clothing you spray it on for days!!! Strongly recommend trying before you buy. I like the smell but it doesn't make people want to hug you and bury their noses in your clothing. This is very much a selfish fragrance - first and foremost for your own enjoyment. Other people are secondary.
