Naeem

This is my newfound love. OK, it's more of a men's scent but this is so green, so heavy with oakmoss, so herbal, so hippie that I can't stop smelling my wrists. I don't know Pino Silvestre but yes, this has a certain quality that reminds me of pines and forests. I bought this because reviewers compared this to my beloved Firdous and Jannet El Firdaus. And yes, there's a resemblance but Naeem is even greener, and a bit more on the masculine side. But what the heck, I'm a woman and not usually prone to wearing men's colognes and I love it. This is the quintaessential feel good fraganve from the 70's.The opening is a bit harsh and reminds me of pine car freshener but after a while it's divine. So fresh, clean and soapy that I wear it even in the hottest days. And it's delicious to apply it after a shower: it will make you smell like you're fresh out of the shower the whole day trough, it smells of herbal soap and dark forests. Love, love, love it.

I wrote the first review down below, but once in awhile I come back to read other people's thoughts on this fragrance, and keep hoping that Fragrantica changes the notes to reflect reality (no such luck). The notes listed by Al Rashad, taken from Al Haramain's page, are the accurate ones. Naeem lies somewhere between an aldehydic aromatic fougere, and a green chypre, something like a cross between Halston 1-12 and White Linen, but the notes of sandalwood and patch in the oakmoss-laden base, as well as the exotic herbal notes, give Naeem an Indian edge, as others have said, reminding me also quite strongly of Chandrika soap- which I find absolutely lovely, btw! There is no reason why ANY gender cannot wear this fresh, clean, very green fragrance that is perfect for warm days!

Initially this wafts a trail reminiscent of a soap, one of my favoites made by Crabtree & Evelyn, labeled, "Jojoba Oil." The soap comes in a white spiral, nautilus shell shape and is the most wondorously fresh soap scent I've ever come across. Like many Al Haramans, upon application Naeem is extremely strong but the dry down exudes an aura of exuberant "cleanliness," like having just stepped from a shower. There's definitely a coniferous green element to it at the start but this becomes more balsamic with time, and only tad powdery. I love this stuff and for the money it's an easy try for anyone liking "soapy, clean" scents.

I deleted my original review of this because I got it totally wrong. Yes it is big, green and soapy but it is way more than that. It is like a conifer forest, with lots of shades of green, some mossy, this incredible airy effect which I love so much but have never encountered before. There's some spicy in the middle and a good whack of soap but this is like a shower and a fresh change of clothes in a bottle, so soap works. I was also wrong about the longevity. I have had this one for nearly 12hrs and it is still going. This one is definitely masculine in a Western context but don't let that limit you.

SOAP - SOAP - and MORE SOAP! This Does smell just like Chandrika Soap which is a brand of ayurvedic/herbal soap manufactured and sold in India and most health food stores. I praise all the previous reviews for nailing this powerhouse! GREEN - Forest like - And VERY MOSSEY! Beware this creation is crazy stong! Just a dab rubbed over your body after a shower and your set! I am having fun with this fragrance...

This is more of an aromatic fougere/green chypre hybrid- a little bit similar to Jannet al Firdous (if you're familiar), but with its own character, brimming with green! The notes above are only a small section of the whole! Lovely lovely if you're into old-fashioned, "green" aldehyde bombs- one of my faves from this line!

A bit soapy for my taste in the begining. Perfect after 1 hour.

As with all of these oils, you need to give this fragrance time to develop. Don't put it on right before leaving the house or stepping onto a meeting. To me, freshly applied, this smells like a bar of cheap soap that my mother would buy, in the damp, mouldy bathroom of my stepdad, with pine toilet cleaner down the loo. Not pretty at all. Half an hour later though and it's a completely different story. The oil warms up beautifully and the pine toilet cleaner scent gives way to a green, lush forest. I really don't get much patchouli at all but the scent of that forest is lingering and constantly morphing ever so slightly. I usually keep away from green fragrances but I really like this one. The more I wear it, the more it grows on me. It's long lasting with reasonable projection and would be great for layering.

For the price, it’s good. You will smell like the best artisanal fougere soap, but soap. As stated below, it does improve with development, but never enters into any territory of perfume greatness. It’s just very good at what it is. Not so complex, not subtle, fresh and clean and very green. Never convincingly natural but it is emphatic and yet not harsh. It never quite reaches into what a good fragrance can do - the complexity and magic. Just about these Haramain cheapies are like that. You get more than what you pay for - but nothing absolutely spectacular. That said, sometimes I do just want to smell clean and freshly-washed. So it’s a go for me. One I will probably eventually rebuy once I run out — but not in any rush. So far it’s spend more on less for me.

Yea starts off like strong hand soap in a campsite bathroom, but it evolves within an hour or so to beautiful rich musky very green chypre. Blends beautifully with Guerlain Vetiver! Use Naeem like a base oil. Adds an interesting musk and woodland fringe around the super, beautifully citrus-tinged vetiver. Nature comes to life.

Naeem is a pine green, musky perfume with a touch of mint. It is gorgeous after a shower in early fall. Feels appropriate for Christmas. I am enjoying this especially at this time of year. Lasts forever. Very comforting.

I have it for some time now. The scent is that of after-rain in a forest. Super green, slightly fresh. A good fall-spring fragrance, very musky. You can get even 24h out of this one with a good silage. Cheep and good fragrance. UPDATE: this got to be one of my favorite fragrance. feels like i took a shower in a waterfall... feeling very fresh when i wear this Another UPDATE: wearing this applied on cold skin gives me the vibe of salty sea and fresh sea weed (with the good and the bad) - harsh, watery, green, but very fresh.

Forget the notes. This is NOT anything close to the patch/musk/sandalwood combo the listed notes might lead you to expect. It's not that Naeem is terrible, but it will seem so if you go in with the wrong expectation like I did. So, what to expect? Think SOAP. Green, mossy soap, with a bit of musk and clove hovering in the background. And you can also expect to feel the pang of regret in the event you make the mistake of putting your nose directly to a fresh application of this oil. It's POTENT, highly concentrated, punchy as hell -- in a green bathroom cleaner sort of way. It needs air and time to open up -- and then once it does, it ends up smelling like old fashioned soap -- nothing more, nothing less. Who wants to smell like old fashioned soap? Certainly not me. But if that's your jam, hey, whatever floats yer boat! A little goes a long way, projection and sillage verge on the monster side if you're heavy handed with it, and longevity is better than average, this being an oil. Should be called "Mean, Green & Clean."

I agree with Labaloo's review about this being similar to Jannet al Firdous, think of this as a hippy version of Jannet. It has a strong indian herbal medicine smell. If you have ever smelt a soap called Chandrika, which is an ayurvedic soap for problem skin (man that soap really works, anyhow), this ittar smells like 10 times stronger version of that soap. I think this is one ittar that needs to dial down all its notes a bit, it is tooo green. On me it screeches and screams, I really wanted to love this since I generally like foresty fragrances, I used to wear patchouli oil on its own or layered over oud and loved it. But Naeem is not working for me. I bought this thinking it would be a patch-sandalwood bomb, but it simply bombed on me.

I blind bought Naeem, Firdous and Black by Al Haramain. I tested them for a while and I must say that Firdous and Naeem are the most awfull perfumes I ever smellt. Firdous is horrible: it smells like smoked meat almost all the time, except a little time in opening. On the other hand, Naeem has a disgusting/nauseous opening, but the late dry down is acceptable, spicy. But who has the time to wait the drydown? I tested both on my skin, on paper and on clothes (small portions). No notable differences. The worst blind buy I made for now. I had luck with Al Haramain - Black, which somehow saved the failure.

Fragrance Notes: Top note: Fougere, Aldehyde, Orange, Bergamot Middle note: Geranium, Cedar wood, Clove Base note: Sandalwood, Musk, Patchouli I mistakenly bought a 1ml sample from STC for $5, instead of doing that you can get a 15ml bottle from the Al Rashad website for about $8. A mesmerizing clean, slightly soapy, distinct herbal earthy green accords such as patchouli and oakmoss. It is softly powdery on my skin. The patchouli is not dirty but clean, I don't get much sandalwood on my skin, it is mostly green accords to my nose. It reminds me a little bit of those strong smelling soaps that are hard like bricks from the Middle East store. I can smell wafts of this oil for a few hours, it was comfortable and refreshing for me to wear in this hot stifling weather today.

Hi All, This perfume smells piney & woody...kind of herbal, medicinal. In India some hair oils ahve similar smell - Dabur Amla, Bhringaraj etc. The opening is very similar to the above mentioned Indian Hair Oils. After the drydown, the woody spicy thing pops out. It smells a little better after the drydown.For those who have described it to have a soapy feel...they are correct in the sense of having used a woody, green possibly herbal soap....as this thing smells like it..even the out of the shower feel lingers for a few minutes... Longevity is good. Also one should not overapply as he/she might not want to smell like Dabur Amla. Overall 3/5. Not too good, Not too bad but not very likeable either. If it would not have one or two notes...it would have been a better woody scent.

Wonderful, soap in the forest, expensive soap and green scent, very long lasting, another treasure from Dubai. Unisex for everyone who likes the smell of expensive soaps and the Chanel No.5 style. I recommend it for spring, summer and fall or for the whole year, do not limit yourself. Kisses for YOU.

Initial reaction awful toilet cleaner pine like scent. You have to use sparingly as great scent for chypre powder lovers. I'm seriously amazed by the strength of this fragrance and the silage initially. This is a less sweeter scent compared to rasasi attar mubhakar.

To me, this is very reminiscent of one of the aftershaves my dad used to wear - Pino Sylvestre. Not to my taste but smells divine on my husband

A divine feeling which drive me to the fresh and tranquil environment. This is bit naturally blended perfume, make my whole day.

Love this fragrance, in condition after apply 2 hours. Very long lasting. Price is so friendly.
