Obsessive Oudh

Very natural oud that reminds me a lot of a Laotian oud oil I bought years ago. Opens barnyard/bleu cheese-esque oud with a sweet, gummy amber/musk that is rich with dried fruits....raisins, figs, etc. It gets smokier, leathery and richer as it dries down and loses the bleu cheese/barnyard to an extent, but the oud is definitely the star player the entire time. It has a great musty/dusty quality in the dry down as well. That being said, this is not an oud fragrance for those that prefer more tame, western style ouds. This is a feral beast!

I just received my bottle and my first thoughts are that this is not a skanky or barnyard oud, nor do I find it very loud. It does smell authentic and of a quality Hindi oudh that is popular in the Middle-East. If all you knew was Western style oud then maybe this is challenging to you but I certainly don't find it so. It smells good, woody, smooth, semi warm. Edit 10/01: fragrance 8/10 Projection 3/10 Silage. 3/10 Longevity 9/10 Long lasting awesome smelling skin scent.

This is a good soft fragrance with Amber and a touch of natural Oud. High quality ingredients at an affordable price. Nothing offensive but nothing impressive.

Oud & beyond. Obsessive oud is another full-bodied oud fragrance. I believe it is pure oud oil in perfume alcohol, with few added drops of musk & even less of amber. This fragrance is 80% oud. The smells is oud from the beginning, as you've rubbed pure oud oil on you skin: woody & rich. As it dries down, a prominent accord of Middle Easter musk starts to appear. The final product is an a woody, slightly spicy oud fragrance with touch of soft, warm musk. I must say, despite its intensity, it didn't seem to cause any kind of physical reaction like some strong, oud fragrance do (e.g. Montale's, Mancera's) where you feel your nostrils burn or a lump or itch in your throat. I really like the smell but the price of ~$210 per 100ml EDP is a premium that I would only pay for a fragrance that knocks me off of my feet, & while Obsessive Oudh is a beautiful & really good oud smell, it didn't do that. Also, I vaguely remember other more affordable fragrances that offered very similar smell. If you ever wondered what oud did that to me, that would be Nabeel's Oud Vetiver, which was about $220 for 100ml. Obsessive Oudh is strictly for the lovers of oud. Big "Like" but pass due to the price. [Edit 10/2020: Oud Vetiver has been completely reformulated and the price was lowered to ~$65 from $220. The smell now is completely different. No oud, just cheap vanilla/wood combo. Not ever worth the $65. Tragic.]
