Tanasuk

OK. My miraculously inexpensive and hilariously kitsch I Dream of Jeannie bottle of Tanasuk arrived. Two drops are applied to each inner elbow. It's very strong to me, but my husband didn't remark on it, so it must not be too cloying, although the sweetness is intense at first application. It is still developing on my skin a half-hour later. It's almost too strong, at least at first; I will either have to confine myself to one single drop on the chest, or maybe two drops below the waist, perhaps on the back of each knee. I'm going to see what happens with my usual inner-elbow test. It is starting to smell like a fancy chocolate-rosewater drink, or something with dates. It's still very sweet, with pronounced vanilla notes, but also incense and smoke. Very strong rose throughout. As the incense subsides a little, I get woods--sandalwood, possibly oud or another resinous woody smell. This might be the most bang-for-the-buck it is possible to get for around $20. Not to mention the charming and over-the-top bottle. The dropper applicator is perfect for this scent. I can't even imagine how lethal it would be applied with a sprayer or even a rollerball. Even though I have only 12 ml, it seems like enough to last me the rest of my life even if I wore it every day. Holy, smokes, this stuff is STRONG, especially after days of wispy, evanescent ozonic florals and their ilk. Now I'm picking up chocolate, coffee, rose, jasmine, and incense. In my mind, this stuff smells like the vital fluid running through historic French pipe organs. RIYL César Franck, the fin de siècle, and Turkish Delight candy. The rose gets jammier and jammier, too--sometimes it reminds me of a much sweeter, more oud-laden version of Tauer's Rose Flash. This is so much more complex, though; that one seems more linear and much more obviously rose from the outset. OK, I have been wearing the same two drops of this perfume for a full 8 hours now, and it's still stronger than many of my perfumes before the drydown. It's crazy. The rose note is still strong but jammier than ever, and the overall effect is a bit like a chocolate bar filled with rose jam. Most of the oud and coffee notes have dissipated, which is probably a good thing or I would never fall asleep. This perfume is absolutely eternal. I'm confident that I'll smell it on my sheets tomorrow and until I wash them, even if I scrub my arms. How could two mere drops perform like this? What strange magic hath Tanasuk wrought! Update: One drop, applied to the upper chest, seems better. I never think it's "working" at first because I can't smell anything, and then, BOOM! Crazy, almost unbearably strong at first, but the drydown is beautiful. I layered over the residual scent of Rose Petals, which had started to fade away after about 4 hours, and I'm glad I just used one drop of Tanasuk this time. Any more of this stuff is overkill. It's good to amp up the rose and incense elements of Rose Petals if you like that effect. I'd say this is the most potent perfume I have ever used, even more eternal than Youth-Dew parfum. Update: I received a sample of Mancera Roses Vanille, which I like a lot, although not as much as Intense Roses Musk, which I deemed FBW. Then I thought, "What does this remind me of?" Answer: TANASUK. I had a little burst of inspiration and put several drops in a small empty glass jar, along with a generous glob of Nivea cocoa butter body butter (very subtle fragrance--or was before, haha), stirred it all up with a clean popsicle stick, and then let that supernatural Arabian attar do its thing. The result is very much like a nice body lotion version of Roses Vanille, and you can adjust the fragrance level to your liking, since a little Tanasuk goes a long way. I think the mild cocoa butter fragrance complements it nicely, since I always pick up a little cocoa along with the vanilla in Tanasuk. I think I'll start using this as a base layer for rose- or vanilla-forward perfumes, or maybe just as a fragrance on days or nights when I need to be subtle because there's assigned seating or something. Update: I got Intense Cafe by Montale in a travel sprayer from my monthly subscription club, and the similarities to Tanasuk are undesirable. As people have noted, Tanasuk isn't really that much cheaper if you go by the price per milliliter and the beast-mode performance of the Montales and Manceras. However, Tanasuk is one of the most concentrated perfume oils that I have ever encountered, and it's hard to imagine that I will ever get through this bottle, even as I use it to scent body butters and balms and the like. That said, I'd still be delighted to get a full bottle of Intense Cafe, if the price were right, and even knowing as I do how close this is to Tanasuk.

I felt courageous and blind bought this from EBay. Funny story: I was sitting in the living room while hubby was behind two- not closed doors in bedroom when I merely opened the bottle, within seconds he yelled “ oh what’s smelling here(nicely)” so I’d say the spillage and strength are up there HOWEVER !!! I think it’s a sign of high quality perfume when the strength is up there yet doesn’t give you headache or claustrophobic feeling. This was my first official Arabic scent so it is in some way different to any other perfumes, I wasn’t instantly in love, it doesn’t smell cheap but it didn’t impress me either at first it’s just okay but I’m beginning to understand and learn the nature of the beast that Arabian attars are, never judge them by first sniff ! They are not to be judged from the bottle at all even though it’s impossible to not smell it either as it’s so strong BUT NOT IN A BAD HEADACHEY WAY, rather:good quality lasting wvolving maturing growing on you in various ways strong. My go to perfumes are Thierry Mugler, Angel and Lolita Lempicka L, so yes I like sweet, but I want the sweet journey to be multifaceted so I’m trying to layer other elements to these gourmands like earthy masculine coffee, distinctive cardamom, intoxicating dill, comfoorting cinnamon and then something positive like orange zest... is it too much to mingle all together? I don’t know I’m still experimenting to see how far I can push the envelope. Currently I’m wearing a plethora of things and I feel like I’m floating in this nectar of wonderfullness surrounding me: cardamom, coffee, fennel seed, Lolita Lempicka L, Angel TM, tiny dash of Sultan and then this! Tanasuk! Just a dash of it to freshen things up a bit, and hear me out out of this crowd of my favourite scents Tanasuk is the main actress wafting through as Im moving. For some reason I feel like I would not want to wear it alone, like it’s a food item that needs others to be complimented. That is how it is for me anyhow, I’m at home chilling not planning to go out just surrounded by this clowd of multifaceted Tanasuk domineering scent bombe. I don’t think I will ever wear this alone it is sweet fruity smell but in a warm dark deep manner some flower smell in the background which is good as I don’t like flowery smells a lot, I need the spices to be included but even then it’s a great perfume. It is so potent that the way I layer it with others this bottle will last me years but I’d probably bought it again if I ran out for the price range to quality is almost incomprehensible, very grateful to have discovered these gems of Attars indeed!!!!

When I was a little girl, I had a fondness for sneaking into the kitchen when my mam wasn't looking to steal sugar cubes. If they had been infused with high quality rose water, then they would smell exactly like Tanasuk. It is cavity inducing. The sweetness of the vanilla, brown sugar and grenadine is almost overpowering, yet manages to not be cloying. The rose is a delightful spring rose wet with cold dew air that projects well. It lasts all day on clothing and projects for a few hours on skin. It is quite linear, not much development as the day goes on. There's nothing unisex about it if worn alone. I dare not wear it in the summer, and I cannot compare it to another. I implore you to test it on your skin, allow your body heat to develop the notes, and you will feel as though you were the sweetest morsel in all the land. Update_1: I took a chance and wore this on my skin in warm weather and my goodness, I find that it is more delightful in the summer than the winter. The grenadine and saffron top notes jump off my skin and the warm sweetness of the amber, vanilla, and brown sugar combination is just beautiful. The cold rose note is not as strong as during the winter, overpowered by grenadine, maybe? It's not at all cloying like I feared it would be, and the sugar note is not as overpoweringly sweet as I experienced it during the winter. I do still smell like a delicious treat. Projection and sillage- fantastic as usual. I still will only wear this on my skin, on clothing would turn me into a walking turkish delight. From 'like', it's now a 'love'. Update_2: Let me illustrate just how long lasting and strongly performing this perfume oil is- I decanted 5ml and took it to work. Yesterday at about 2pm, I spritzed the oil onto my wrist and forearm in the loo. This morning by 10 am, I went back to the loo and lo and behold- I could still smell the perfume! Grenadine, brown sugar, vanilla and white musk, permeating the air and overpowering the toilet disinfectant odour.

First impression: received this today and i have to say, its very good and strong! this is the scent story that I experienced on my skin (in this order): Jammy Rose and lemons (reminded me instantly of Infini rose [Atomic Rose]) Then metal and airiness (like the metal part of Baroque 540 or MFK BR540) then I smelled bark, yes bark, then the bark turned to allspice, then tobacco which excited me! Then along with the tobacco smell i smelled sweetness, like gummy bears or like a nice dried berry gummy, then after that i smelled amber or a resin, then the whole thing turned very potent and reminded me of a EDP mainly just a smooth sweet slightly fruity amber/resin note. Side note: This did give me a headache at this point like many have also stated. All in all I like it so far. Update: new base scent! it projects for hours and is not headache inducing anymore (kinda). If you like infini rose you will like this. When I say I smelled the oil project off of my skin at hour eight, omg I dont have any other fragrance that does this. If you want it, get it.

Good enough to eat! I wish I could discern more notes, but perhaps it is just that well blended? The main notes I get are, grenadine, rose, and brown sugar 🤤 Upon application I notice a medicinal scent, which I’m assuming is saffron, but that dissipates rather quickly. After it settles Tanasuk remains a warm syrupy, fruity, rose infused delight (for hours and hours). It doesn’t evolve much for me, but that’s fine. Like previous reviewers noted, you’ll think it’s gone and then BAM, you get hit with a whiff of goodness. This is not cloying or headache inducing for me, which is surprising because it is sooo rich and sweet. Definitely strong (a little goes a long way), but I don’t experience it having significant sillage, but more of a scent bubble (comparable with many oils and extraits I have worn). I honestly find it very comforting and appropriate for every season and occasion aside from work (I’m in healthcare). High quality and performance for such a decent price. Not for those who dislike sweet fragrances for sure.

Oh my goodness, this has become one of my top scents! A stunning mix of roses, sugar, and vanilla, with some almost spicy wood to ground it a little. It’s warm, sweet and syrupy, really gorgeous. It creates a nice little scent bubble, and lasts hours, I’ve had it on for 10 hours at this point, and I can still clearly smell it on my wrists, plus I’m getting wafts if it now and again as I move! It is near identical to Roses Vanille/Intense Cafe/Delox/Roses Gourmand, all of which I love. But this is so ridiculously cheap, I paid £16 for 12ml of oil, which doesn’t sound like you’re getting much at all, however you truly only need 1-2 drops max. It is potent. And layers perfectly with above scents for longevity. 10/10 for me.

If you have Mancera Roses Vanille, Montale Cafe Intense, Florence by Swiss Arabian or even Rose Gourmand by Zara.... then you will love this because it's the same scent but as a perfume oil. EDIT: This is more gourmand than the others. It's also syrupy! This is great if you want to intensify the performance of those perfumes by mixing with body creams, etc. I wouldn't say it's budget friendly once you calculate the cost per ml (basically close to the price of Mancera/Montale). I gave it a love anyway because I do adore the Roses Vanille trend, and this makes for A+ layering.

Wow this is gorgeous. I have recently discovered my love for rose fragrances (previously associated rose with old ladies). I have bought a few, including the expensive Delina Exclusif and Atomic Rose. Opens floral and bright, dries down to a beautiful soft sweet vanilla rose. I'm wearing it right now and loving it, and my husband keeps following me around... says its like a magnet! I love wearing this summer evenings and right through autumn winter.

Love this! It is true, it reminds me of Montal Intense Café but it's not exactly the same. When I first put it on, my nose gets rose and pepper (not sure which note gives the pepper lol), then dries down to a vanilla rose. I go nose blind to the scent, but whenever I wear it, people mention how nice I smell, so it lasts longer than I first realised. I blind bought this and so glad I did. If you like rose and vanilla you will love this.

This is a PERFECT 1:1 dupe of Mancera’s Roses Vanille... for $20? No joke, the silage and longevity may even be stronger! I have both, so I layer them- Tanasuk is an oil, so they really help each other Perforrrrm. If you have this, Al-Rehab French Coffee and Choco Musk, plus anything ambroxan heavy, you can pretty much recreate many of the most popular Manceras and Montales. What a time to be alive.

By reading the reviews I literally must be the only guy wearing this tanasuk. It really doesn't bother me as I love rocking a rose fragrance. It kinda reminds me a bit of MFK Oud Satin Mood which I totally love. When I first bought this I absolutely hated it but clearly my nose has matured over the years and I feel totally different about it now and absolutely love it.

I love this fragrance. The rose opens with a hint of grenadine that brightens the syrupy nature of the rose. The fragrance settles into a warm soft vanilla and musk. It is delightful. I love it so much I am on my second bottle in as many months. I also bought edp to wear with it. Chef's kiss! 😘

Wearing this, I smell of rose petal jam! Wow! 🌹❤️😋 It’s a hot, humid day here and the sweetness never manages to get too much, there’s a woody note that balances everything and keeps it in order. I’ll be interested to see how this performs later on in autumn and winter.

I love this more than Roses Vanille! I dont know why i pick up on some strange burnt tyre note in Manceras fragarnces. Tanasuk is a beautiful blend of roses and vanilla. Love the syrupy quality and it is long lasting. It smells high end. May need to re-purchase this!

Montale Roses Musk with less of the balsamic note, and drizzled in melted butter and brown sugar. Not overly sweet, but delicious and interesting. Huge projection and lasting power from just a tiny dab. The bottle is absolutely gorgeous too.

I'm quite surprised to see this described as unisex. To me it seems to be feminine. Also, I detect an incense note that doesn't appear on the description. I love this oil but have to be in the mood to wear it.

One of my most favorite rose ouds of all time. This sort of reminds me of Arabians Tonka, but this one is sweeter, smoother, and a way better price. Absolutely obsessed with how syrupy delicious this is!

Smells very similar to Mancera Roses Vanille. It is like a sweet rose & vanilla mix with a bit of sourness. It does smell a bit syrupy at times so i have to be in the mood for it.

If you love Turkish rose lokum this is for you. As a male I have no issues wearing this. It's beautiful, sweet and invigorating. Best worn at night and in colder weather.

Its a bar of Turkish delight, wrapped in chocolate. So decadent! It is also a long lasting, comforting hug. Rosy, chocolatey loveliness. Perfect for the colder seasons.
