Qubrus

A nice tribute to the island of Cyprus where a lot of perfumery including the classical chypres seem to have originated. This natural Attar style tribute is a rose chypre that opens with the central Turkish rose surrounded by hints of patchouli and neroli. There is a brief heart of incense, labdanum and real animal musk before the perfume settles into a heavy oakmoss base surrounded by hints of oud and vetiver. The unisex scent has moderate to strong projection and good longevity. Overall a nice take on what a chypre of days bygone must have smelt like. Enjoy!

Chypre in its purest form Since I often see the term Chypre used incorrectly, I would like to clarify what a Chypre fragrance actually is. The first Chypre fragrance was introduced by François Coty in 1917 with his perfume Chypre, and the genre has evolved considerably since then. Traditionally, a Chypre relies on three main elements: a bright citrus opening, a floral heart (which is not always clearly distinguishable), and a warm, deep, earthy base built around oakmoss, often accompanied by patchouli. By combining these elements in different proportions and accords, perfumers can create Chypres that smell remarkably different from one another. Labdanum was also an important part of the original Chypre structure, usually appearing in the heart or base notes. Today, similar resinous depth can also be achieved with materials such as styrax. Since the use of oakmoss has been radically restricted by IFRA, many modern fragrances are classified as Chypres even when oakmoss has been completely replaced by patchouli. Personally, however, I find that very few fragrances without oakmoss truly feel like Chypres. That is probably because Chypres have been among my favorite fragrance styles since childhood. A Chypre fragrance does not necessarily smell like famous examples such as Guerlain Mitsouko, Rochas Femme, or Roja Diaghilev. Depending on the composition, a Chypre may emphasize florals, rich fruits, smoky leather facets, or even the gourmand accords that are currently popular. Floral aldehydic perfumes such as Amouage Dia Woman, Amouage Gold Woman, or Chanel No. 5, along with many other soapy or powdery fragrances in the same category, are not Chypres. Qubrus is a relatively simple, albeit intensely executed, Chypre. It could easily be used for educational purposes to identify the genre's basic structure. The composition contains very few notes beyond those traditionally associated with a classic Chypre. The citrus opening is restrained, the heart revolves around labdanum with subtle velvety musk, and the base is built upon oakmoss, supported by hints of oud and vetiver. The fragrance feels remarkably natural, earthy, and pleasantly soft, though some may perceive it as old-fashioned. Compared with the oakmoss found in many modern interpretations of Mitsouko, the oakmoss in Qubrus is neither airy nor sharp. Instead, it is infinitely gentle, while the labdanum adds a sensual softness in the manner Roja often employs it. The composition demonstrates how powerful a traditional Chypre structure can be when it is allowed to speak clearly without being obscured by excessive ornamentation. Many people associate labdanum primarily with leathery aromas, but because it can also mimic certain aspects of ambergris, it is capable of creating a warm, slightly sweet amber-like scent reminiscent of the skin's own aroma. Rather than emphasizing airiness, Qubrus reminds me of slightly damp soil, though never in a dirty or muddy way. There is something deeply beautiful and touching about it. Although the fragrance bears no real resemblance to Figment Man, it evokes childhood memories in much the same way. Both fragrances possess a quiet ability to connect scent with memory and emotion rather than relying on immediate impact. Qubrus is an exceptionally high-quality fragrance. It lasts for hours on my skin (around eight) with restrained projection. This is a fragrance that feels more suited to the wearer's own enjoyment than to attracting attention from those around them. I do not find anything traditionally feminine about the scent, yet on my own skin it is exceptionally attractive and I find myself repeatedly drawn to its aroma. On my husband's skin, however, it becomes deeper, darker, and distinctly more masculine. One of the qualities I appreciate most about natural-smelling fragrances is their ability to adapt to the wearer. Rather than imposing a fixed identity, Qubrus seems to reveal different facets (feminine vs masculine) depending on the person wearing it, which only adds to its charm. Qubrus is not a fragrance that seeks to modernize, reinvent, or embellish the Chypre genre. It serves as a reminder of why the structure became a classic in the first place. Its restrained composition allows the beauty of oakmoss and labdanum to take center stage, creating a scent that feels timeless rather than nostalgic. While some may find its character old-fashioned, I find its honesty and simplicity deeply appealing. In an era when fragrances often compete for attention through complexity and volume, Qubrus demonstrates how captivating a fragrance can be when it remains true to its roots. يجري تفييء العطور إلى سبعة خطوط على الأقل ، اعتباراً من النوتات الرئيسية المكوِّنة للهرم العطري من جهة و الاتفاقات الشمية التي تنشأ من تفاعل مركبين أو أكثر من جهة ثانية ، ما يسفر عن بروز ملاحظات أخرى غير معلنة تتسلل شيئا فشيئا إلى كيمائية العطر . وتقّسم العطور عادة إلى عطور أروماتيك وهي تلك التي ترتكز في تكوينها العطري على النباتات الخضراء مثل إكليل الجبل والمريمية ، ويتم دمجها على الأرجح مع الحمضيات لتسفر عن كامل خواصها العطرية . فيما تضم عائلة الزهريات جل العطور المستخرجة من الورود والأزهار ، وهي عطور تميل في الغالب الأعم إلى الجنس الناعم . وتظل فئة العطور الشرقية الأكثر دفئا وقوة ، حيث تستند إلى خواص البهارات ، العود و البخور ... ، وتناسب الأجواء الباردة وفترات المساء وتتمتع بقدرة فائقة على الثبات لفترة طويلة ؛ و تُماثِلها تأثيرا العطور الخشبية والجلدية التي تلفّ مستخدمها بهالة من التألق والغموض . أما العطور الشيبرية Chypre فهي من أكثر العطور عمقا و تعقيدا ، وتتمتع بروائح خشبية طازجة مما يجعل نوتات العطر العليا قريبة من رائحة الأرض ، وتكون جافة عند استخدامها كملاحظات قاعدية ، علما أن أول عطر صُنِّف ضمن فئة العطور هاته هو Chypre de Coty حيث تم الإعلان عنه سنة 1917 . و تعود الجذور اللغوية لهذه العائلة العطرية إلى كلمة Cyprus وترجمتها باللغة العربية "قبرس" وهي جزيرة جميلة تقع في البحر المتوسط ، حيث كان الفينيقيون هم أول من أطلق عليها هذا الاسم . ويرجع السبب في تسمية هذه الفئة من العطور بهذا الاسم إلى اشتهار جزيرة قبرس بنوع محدد من الروائح الكلاسيكية استنادا للبرغموت والباتشولي واللبدنوم والأوكاموس (طحلب البلوط) ، واستخدمت كثير من دور العطور هذا النموذج في عديد إصداراتها إلى أن صار خطا عطريا قائما بذاته . هذا وقد اختار Al Shareef Oudh أن يُعَنْوِنَ عطره هذا باسم قبرس تَيَمُّناً بهذا الخط من العطور ، وليكون بمثابة تصنيف مبدئي للعطر على أنه ينتسب إلى العطور التشيبرية . بمجرد تطبيق العطر على جسمك سوف يشرع في البوح بكامل أسراره بداية بالنفحات الأولى لمسك الغزال الطبيعي وهو الأمر الذي لن يطول أمده بسبب دخول نوتة الورد المركزية بإيعاز من زهر البرتقال الذي لم أتمكّن من استبانة فروقه الدقيقة بصورة واضحة بحكم تغلغله في نسيج العود كما لو أنهما انصهرا في بوتقة واحدة . ينزاح العطر في لحظة من لحظاته عن المسار المألوف للعطور الكلاسيكية بسبب إشراك بعض النوتات الفارقة في تحسين مزاج العطر كالنيرولي مثلا ، لتجد بأن العطر قد صار يتمتع بنوع من الحيوية والجِدّة التي لا يمكن أن تنبثق إلا عن أنامل عطّار مجرَّب . توليفة جميلة من العود والنيرولي ومسك الغزال يعزز من جاذبيتها بريق الباتشولي في المقدمة ، بينما يمنحها اللبان مع اللبدنوم طابعا فخما و أرستقراطيا قل نظيره في مثيلات هذا الصنف من العطور . على الرغم من أن هذه الفصيلة من العطور شديدة الخصوصية ، ولا تقبل القسمة على اثنين فإما أن يتعلّق بها الشخص أو ينبذها قطعاً ، إلا أن آل شريف عود قد نجح في تطويع روائحها وترويض نوتاتها لتتلاءم مع ذوي الأذواق الصعبة ، دون أن يُفرغ العطر من محتواه أو ينأى به عن المبادىء القيّمة التي يرتضيها لعطوره دوماً وأبداً . __________________ تقبل الله صيامكم و قيامكم ❤️ #رابطة_عشاق_العطور #عشاق_العطور_العرب #عشاق_العطور #دهن_العود #دهن_عود #خشب_العود #alshareefoudh #oudoil #Attar #agarwood #alshareefoudhqubrus

pretty much a less dry fougere. chypre, with less bite, so more heavy on the oakmoss. soapy and clean, with a bit more clarity in the opening that one would expect. smells very mainstream classic french, for better or worse. I don't really know what it could be, but i smell lavander. smells like caron 3rd man.
