L'Invitation

I am selling my 100ml bottle, UK only. This is very classy and unique smelling perfume, but I think you need to like patchouli to enjoy this, and I am not a patch lover so this bothers me a bit. It's spicy and intriguing and sexy in an elegant French way. On the right person this would be amazing. I have smelled over a thousand perfumes and still struggle to compare it with anything.

The opening is pungent and out of this world. Absolutely gorgeous. And.. that's it. This is a very nice spicy rose scent. The smell is much better than Cartier Declaration d'Un Soir. I find it better because I love the spiceness of the carnation and the pink pepper Also labdamum & incense kick in at the opening and after some minutes.. they lose power & go to the background forever. At the middle stage this magic effect fades out and it feels more common, I remember this vibe with a slightly oriental twist. The final stage is just rose with tiny spicy - citrusy traces. The big drawback which was the reason for not buying it -which btw is very resonably priced, just as average designer scent- is its performance. The longevity is good but the sillage/projection are zero. After about 20 min. you must rub your nose on your skin to feel it. It's a beautiful skin scent. Such a shame for a gorgeous scent like this. I higly recommend it for places where the scent must be discreet. It's a wonderful office scent.

Pleasant, sweet, woody incense. Nice.

This perfume thoroughly deserves its piss-poor score. Viewed positively, I suppose timid people with ill-defined preferences need scents too, and thankfully, manufacturers like this are here to cater for them. I blind bought it because I’m on an amber trip at the moment, and I love incense, and it’s by Duchaufour, who also loves incense. This should be basically a wet dream to me, but it’s not. It’s just wet. The smell is fine. Actually, it’s quite pleasant. There aren’t really “notes” to speak of - certainly not leading with incense. The smell is light, though, and undetectable to me after half an hour unless nose to wrists. I’ve tried overspraying. Nope. In frustration, I’ve just put St Giles The Writer on over the top, about a quarter of the amount, and I’m in a huge scent bubble. Potentially, I am being harsh. it’s most definitely not a bad scent, and it’d be a great amber for work, meetings etc. I got it for a song, so I’m not sore about it. Just frustrated that this incense-loving nose could not be arsed to sort this perfume out.
