Excellence

I love a good anise-forward fragrance, and with anise, fennel and licorice... it is impossible to miss! The anise and cloves mix well in the opening, and the prominent violet provides a powdery start. Unfortunately, violet is one of those notes that does not work with my skin chemistry and it comes across quite dusty. Once my nose gets past that, I do pick up on the earthiness of the patchouli and the florals coming across a little like freshly tilled soil in a garden. This profile carries through for the next hour or so until the anise accord dissipates. Beyond this and for the remainder of the fragrance, I get a slightly sweet, slightly ambery and dry leather base - lasting a moderate 6hr as just beyond a skin scent. I'm fine with saying that my skin chemistry has messed around with this creation - with the violet reaction creating an imbalance. I see glimpses of what this scent can be - and am sure it will resonate with some of you out there.

Not for me. It is very sweet. Almost like a smoked candy. That's really all I get. I may not be used to anis or the top notes. Will probably stay sweet too, based on the bottom notes. The longevity is probably above average!
