Blazing Lily

Blazing Lily is a very pretty lily soliflore. It smells like a hothouse full of lilies quite frankly. Starts off green almost minty but that fades to reveal a hint of smoke from gunpowder which I like. Then it goes into a fleshy and soft spicy lily soliflore. I wish the projection was a bit stronger but that's the way things goes now a days with florals. If you like lilies this is a nice one with a bit of an interesting start. Sweet almost edible lilies in a vase. Especially at the dry down. There is vanilla in the base for sure. The sprayers on these McQueen bottles are so good. The fragrance comes out in a fine mist.

Hey hey blazing lily. Freaky notes but not so scary. Imaginatuve for sure. I have d&g the one desire, and oympia by paco rabanne, i don't think McQ BL is similar. Spring skin test but crap cold windy weather. Feels thickish and sharpfuzzy in the nose, theres a creamyness with a warm spicey gentle smoke feel, dont keel over but you know when you have sparklers for firewirks the smoke is ever so slightly minutely like that, theres nothing peppery like those red pepper notes yet - for reference miu miu is hard core peppery to me, as is eau de merveilles intense - (not vegetable peppery, but black pepper spice)... givenchy red bottle of irresistible has the peppers and these are not the same either. Ooh hang on, theres like a soda note, not fizzy, plus perhaps cut peppers, slightl, its rounded, and its not the whole smell. None of thisbis the whole smell, the whole scent feels like rounded, wood fuzz like floral, with a rounded smokey ish edge. Dont be scared of the gunpower its not shouting out. Ive got a few mainstreams which are more dislikeable than this one. This leans fresher and a slight eraser feel on my fabric Im trying to describe the layers as im sure this isnt around in shops to test. :-) Will report sillage and longev later

This perfume is quite pretty. The name is misleading to me, as it is a skin scent and not loud at all. The notes are very well blended and the gunpowder note does not dominate. It does have a very slight metallic smell at times but overall the lily is the star, but in a very refined way. I do get a nice background sweetness (not gourmand) to smooth it out. I wish it did project more and that it lasted longer, but overall I am glad to have it in my collection.

I almost bought this blind, but I am glad I didn't after a friend gave me a sample and I realized I already own something that smells a lot like it and shares some of the same notes. Derek Lam's A Hold on Me has the lilies, and the soft, warm spiciness from pimento seeds, and also vanilla (not listed in either). It doesn't have the gunpowder note, and honestly, I don't miss it as I'm not sure if I even like it. For that reason, I prefer what I already have and will be taking a pass on this.
