Celtic Rose aims to celebrate the delightful simplicity of the rose flower with little else to distract you from its beauty, I must say it achieves that goal. The rose isn’t thick or jammy, it’s not overly sweet or cloying either - it’s actually balanced to perfection. There’s definitely more notes than what’s listed here. There’s a touch of black pepper yes, but to my nose it feels like there’s heaps of aldehydes and hints of citrus which brighten and freshen the rose significantly. From the name you might expect something dark and floral, and yet this is surprisingly fresh and suitable for spring. It’s not particularly unique or special, but it smells good and satisfies the senses.

I got a full size bottle for about $70 in the US & I regret it. The notes are simple, only rose & black pepper. I was hoping for a good, realistic fresh garden rose fragrance after seeing a review on youtube. But no rose scent, not even spicy rose as one would expected from reading the notes. This perfume smells like crushed fresh lemon and/or lime leaves. I have few citrus trees and use the leaves in cooking. This perfume reminds me of my cooking ingredients. If you're looking for a rose scent, don't buy this.

At 1st glance it's your run of the mill fresh rose but give it a couple of wears so it can show its true color. This one plays trick on the nose, it smells like a fresh rose when you know it is a rose fragrance but it also smells like a salad with grounded pepper on top with very little smell of rose. The thing that gives this one some point of interest in a sea of fresh rose fragrances out there is that it doesn't need musk or any heavy notes to hold it together and give it a base. It stays vegetal and super fresh for more than 12hrs of its longevity. This McQueen collection has good ones and not so good ones but they all have impressive sillage & longevity.

I tested this duty free waiting for a flight and the mid smelt so much like sauvage unlike the top notes. My favorite of the McQueen even though it is listed as womens
