Black Muscs

There's a strange magic in this lemon nose perfume with the roses in it, with a slight touch of the smell of the amber with the dominant musk in the base, although I try to look into the sense of the Bacholi, but I don't find it, many of that's one of the flaws of mixing it with CITRUS.

Niche quality and creativity thru and thru. Evokes regal luxury. In а comparison of the analogous Montale's Roses Musk compositions, Black Muscs comes out as the better one. (Don't care about the bottle, what matters is the scent.) LOVE

Today I found a decant of this one which has almost been empty in time(I don't know whether it's evaporated or leaked out)and I never tested it.what can I say except shame on me?! I don't know why I didn't try it in the first place.maybe because seeing Alexander j and black at the same time on it,made me thing of a heavy masculine oudy scent It's very little left so I opened the spray bottle and dabbed some on back of my hand.smelling it made me even more angry with myself. It opens with an almost sharp,citrusy rose but soon musk shows up.I love musk crazily and it's very present here.rose is also there but I wouldn't rate is as the strongest note since musk comes first and stronger on me.amber warms it up and adds a touch of sweetness.I can't pickup much of patchouli and violet and I don't miss them.it's a clean scent and feels warm and cold at the same time.not as soapy as it's notes suggest.it's a slightly powdery scent of musk with just a hint of amber and rose on me and I really like it but I can't judge it with a single test.I purchased another one from this brand on a whim but now I don't like it.I won't repeat such a mistake but if I find a sample for it,I'd like to give it a better test

A strong, woody oriental rose opening does make you think of intense cafe, it's definitely setting down that path however very quickly morphs into a musky citrus and subtle rose. This is much more office friendly and all the notes feel soft citrussy and fresh whereas intense cafe (and some of the others compared here) are a lot more rich sweet and gourmand. I'm definitely after a plush comforting super inoffensive daywear musk, something that really brings out the chemicals in my skin, probably won't be this one but definitely the genre I am looking for. Second testing: super strong on the woodsyness, and a little rubbery too.

I often find the rose-citrus combo sharp and screechy, as roses are usually too heavy to blend well with fresh citrus. But the bright roses in Black Muscs creates a fresh spring-summer fragrance. Musc and violets blend well with the fresh rose in drydown, patchouli supports in the background. It’s very similar to Jour 5 by Majouri, although Black Muscs is a little more lemonadey and Jour 5 is a tiny bit more soapy. I quite enjoy it, since the rose isn’t too heavy or sharp. Performance is great for the price.

I’m not the biggest fan of rose. I hate the rose in mancera Roses Vanille. But this perfume is something else. The rose is really delicate and the perfume feels like drinking champagne outside with freshly washed clothes. 🥂🩷

Opening is nice and fresh citrus and rose, but it slowly turns into something less enjoyable and more synthetic, which reminds me of JHAG's Not a Perfume – Ambroxan, that is, which I don't like at all. I got a small vial of this and Rose Alba as surprise freebies. It's my first time trying anything from this house, I really like their bottles, and the scents seem to be affordable (at least in smaller size) here in Europe. Neither of these scents are my cup of tea though.

I get a lot of Iso E Super, like angel dust and Ds&Durga idkw, or not a perfume overdose.

As others have stated, this house gives off serious Montale/Mancera wannabe vibes. The synthetic oud aromachemicals used by them seem pretty much identical to those used in Mancera frags. This fact causes Black Muscs to appear very very close to Intense Cafe/Black Aoud in terms of the rose note. The opening has a green freshness for the first 5 minutes but, beyond that, it's mostly middling quality rose with a generic musky drydown. One way it differs from Mancera/Montale is in the below average performance. If you want an interesting rose, get Cartier's Declaration D'Un Soir or Rose Rouge by Van Cleef and Arpels. Throw in 15 extra bucks over the price of Black Muscs and get both.

I think from bottle to scent this house is a Montale wannabe, which is also not a very original house either. This fragrance has a linear light transparent rose base and some synthetic musk, that's it. It is overpowering, cloying and disturbing, if sprayed more than two. I can't agree more with Alfarom. If there are SAs that can sell this at his price level, I would like to congratulate them personally, they can sell anything from pet rocks to unicorn tears.

Seems very synthetic, detergent-like and linear to me... Also not really a 'black musk' in the sense of being dark or animalic.

Unfortunately, for me, this fragrance smells like poo on the base notes. On skin and on paper.

Got a small tester of this for free and very glad I didn't buy this. I know it's a rose fragrance, but it still does lean very feminine, especially the opening. It does tone down a bit to this powdery, floral musk. It does remind me a bit of Grey Flannel, as it's got quite a similar in your face, powdery floral vibe to it.

Black Muscs by Alexandre J is a pretty scent. The word "pretty" best suits it. Judging from the first spray, this one is uplifting and very shampoo-y. The rose in this is very bright and appealing, so much so that on first spray it tricked me and i thought this is a fruity rather then a floral fragrance but in reality its the luminous flowers that gave me the impression. I could swear its sweet and altho i recognise rose with soapy qualities and aspects, with this one it's literally shampoo or shower gel but very good quality and very smooth. I do not get the musk in this, zero "blackness" so the name is very missleading. Comparitions with Montale Black Aoud are wrong in my opinion. I have Black Aoud and that one is a sharp, cold rose with some medicinal and bitter facets from the oud and mandarin orange, that is still soapy but alot less then this. What i can tell tho, this does feel like a fragrance made by Montale and from that perspective i can draw comparitions to Montale Starry Nights which is a powdery scent with alot of similar notes as Black Muscs. I'd say it leans 70% female but i know for a fact this depends on personal taste and perception too. Genderwise i'd place this fragrance in the same bucket with others such as Mancera Instant Crush, yet again Starry Nights, Moschino Toy Boy (another rose scent). As you can tell from reviews, these too are really polarising, many will say feminine, others will find them unisex, few will even say masculine. Price-wise, this is more expensive then Montale's creations atleast on discounters.

I honestly believe this line brings tackiness to a completely higher level. This is not simply tacky. It's way beyond. The bottles are a painful-to-watch mash-up between cheap coffee cans and Montale's metal flacons. The little golden crown on the cap is actually a ring you can wear when you dress up (no kidding). The fragrance is basically an extremely powerful metallic musky amber in the worst style of Montale. Obnoxious. Is there really someone buying this stuff? If so, kudos to SAs all over the world. Rating: 4/10

Airy rose, plum liqueur, violet, orange, patchouli, milk chocolate hints and white musk. An oriental freshie. Dense profile but light, airy body. Quite unisex but depending on your tolerance for floral notes it can lean a bit feminine. Beautiful!

Intriguing blend of vintage rose and fruits. Sweet and sour at the same time. Lasts only for 1-2 hours. Almost everything with lemon reminds me of anti-mosquitoes solution so it Can also be used as a insect repellent

Quite a classic rosy, musky amber patchouli scent. Not worth the money as Oriflame or Avon has something very similar. The bottle is very pretty though.

Nice scent. It may surprise You cause considering the notes it should be on female side...Guess what? It's more masculine than You think it is!

Probably what an elderly woman in her 50-60 would wear. No good, but at least more interesting than the generic fragrances. 3/10

This smells like intense cafe by montale but all the Sweetness stripped away. Very nice lasts good too

its similar to black aoud from montale but i dont think its musky, you will smell the rose clearly

Outstanding perfume. Reminds me Casran by Chopard, but it's stronger and stays longer.

Smokey plum, suede, blackcurrant, vanilla and very clean detergent-like musk.

Love this perfume, smells really good.
