I have had a love affair with Parfums de Marly's Herod for a few years. However, I refused a bottle purchase due to its incredibly poor performance, given the high price. In fact, I have said on several occasions that Herod would be my signature scent if it weren't for the poor performance. If this sounds like you... look no more! ARABIAN HORSE IS EVERYTHING THAT HEROD EVER DREAMED OF BEING AND THEN SO MUCH MORE! It smells better than Herod, period. The smell is better blended and the beautiful honey note is unreal. The performance is killer. IT LASTS LITERALLY ALL DAY, it projects well, and the scent is just glorious. Lastly, the price if unbeatable. You can buy this at a fraction of the price of Herod, unbelievable. I will never purchase Herod again. This is the best fragrance you could hope for. If you love Herod... you must buy this fragrance!

Arabian Horse should be a hybrid mix of PDM Herod and TF Tobacco Vanille. It's a mixture of both. Really great perfumery. If you like both scents then get this one. The tobacco is a pipe tobacco. Some compare this to Spice Bomb Extreme. I like both. Yet they are quite different. Spice Bomb Extreme is more spicy with the Cumin. Where Arabian Horse is not as loud and spicy like Spice Bomb Extreme or CDG Blackpepper. It's a warm,sweet and inviting scent. More subtle. Where Spice Bomb Extreme is more outgoing, impulsive and loud. Which is just fine. Arabian Horse and PDM Herod is more subdued and laid back. You want spicy? Comme Des Garcon Black Pepper ,Avignon Incense,Montale Full Incense, Guerlain Bois Mysterieux etc Overall, Arabian Horse is excellent as a Hybrid Flanker.

Although I've worn high quality, nuanced "fragrance" most of my life (I started with Elsha 1776 & Liberty Bell, then bought Guerlain Pour un Homme by the case before moving on to Old Spice...just kidding), I do not consider myself any kind of expert or "professional critic". I have, however, developed a sense of why I wear it and how to satisfy that purpose. So my reviews focus more on what I appreciate about any fragrance, it's staying power and what it evokes from me as I encounter it. I only care how much it is like some other fragracnce from a "value" standpoint. If a fragrance can accomplish the above at a lower cost, it seems only prudent to me to wear it. For me this fragrance satisfies each aspect beautifully and upon that basis, I recommend it.

Finally, this one smells the closest to Herod by Parfums de Marly; not exact but definitely in the Herod neighborhood and just a door away. I've tried them all; Pure Havane by Mugler, Insurrection II Wild by Reyane Tradition, Red Tobacco by Mancera (still like and own), Tobacco Reserve by Aramis (still like and own), Havana by Aramis (still like and own), Havana Reserva by Aramis (still like and own), Signature by Happyland and Tobacco Oud by Tom Ford. I'm sticking with Arabian Horse by Alexandria Fragrances; wonderful scent, great longevity and sillage (better than Herod's). Approved for a blind buy. UPDATE: Another excellent Herod clone is Moira by Oakcha which I believe is superior to AH.

I'm on my 3rd bottle in 3 years, I sold Herod and kept this. Never had any issues.The guy below me either is nose blind or hasn't let the fragrance macerate yet. My friend I have a 200+ collection and have owned about a thousand in my lifetime of full bottles of all prices and let me tell you this stuff is way better than that Herod I had. It's more pepper spicy and lasts 10 hours where my Herod was maybe 5. Yes Herod is slightly smoother for the first 2 minutes but who cares. I've owned about 15 full bottles of Alexandria or more and have sampled probably 40 of their offerings (give or take), all are quality juice! This is my 3rd favorite from the house and I'll always have a bottle! 10/10

I got a sample of Herod recently, I’m comparing it to a 3 year old travel spray of Arabian Horse. This is how I see them side by side: Herod is the wealthy, sophisticated mature uncle to his smart, rich young cousin, AH. I’m exaggerating, I’m very fond of AH, it’s clearly very strongly related to Herod and carries that same vibe of success and masculinity. The tobacco is a tiny fraction rougher around the edges and the whole composition is not quite as smooth as Herod but for me it’s only discernible when you’re wearing them both, otherwise it’s a really great dupe with improved performance. And I think it’s way better than many designer frags like Spicebomb Extreme!

This is an absolute interpretation of Parfums de Marly's Herod. The opening is a regal concoction of tobacco and vanilla. This is not as harsh as TF Tobacco Vanille and is much more wearable. The scent is cozy and sensual. There is a sweetness that is definitely there but not over the top or cloying. This scent has been giving me 12+ hours every time I wear it. Loads of complements at work and everyone wondering where they can get some themselves or for their husbands! The price point can't be beat either. I was really surprised by this one. I expect this to be one of the more popular from this line.

This is one of the closest clones by alexandria. Herod is richer and smoother when you smell them side by side but in the air from atleast a foot away they smell identical and I don't think anybody would be able to tell the difference. This lasts longer and projects more than Herod. I always get compliments. It's very sweet and rich. I would consider this superior to herod but I think their Oajan clone, apple crumb is the best PDM clone offered and superior to this.

I never smelled Herod so I'm judging this on its own merits. I love that yes, there's tobacco and vanilla in there, but it's smooth. That means it's never cloying. You can spray 5 or more sprays and not fear choking anyone out. It is PERFECT for the cold weather and very versatile. I wore it to work and got unsolicited compliments from a co-worker that normally never comments on my fragrances. This one is classy, inviting and alluring. 9 out 10.

As someone who owns both the original and Arabian Horse I can attest to the quality of this fragrance. Smells so close to the original that I would recommend buying this over the original unless you want bragging rights (no judgment here). I have the original Herod and it smells a bit harsher but higher quality. If you don't need the name brand then go for the cheap but equally impressive stuff.

This is a very nice juice that has good longevity and performance for 6 to 7 hours on my skin. Smells similar to Tuscan Leather at the start but does favor Herod in the middle and dry down. The two main notes I get are Vanilla and Tobacco. For me, it's more Vanilla throughout the life of the juice. Overall I love this juice and will be getting a 30 ml bottle soon. Enjoy!

What an awesome scent. I was confused at first because when I first smelled it on paper, I wasn't getting much, if any, tobacco. The tobacco comes off fruity at first and drys down to the more recognizable sweet pipe tobacco scent with the cinnamon and the vanilla supporting throughout. Hints of the spicy pepperwood come through as well. Bottle worthy for sure.

Qualitatively identical to PDM Herod. Rich, sweet pipe tobacco and vanilla are the dominant players. But Alexandria's formulation has far better performance as well as price compared to PDM's version. When you wear the Alexandria version, you can smell with almost every breath for many hours, but PDM Herod performance is not even close.

For me this is one of the best clones/ inspired by frangrance you can find. The opening is 100% spot on Herod, the drydown 90% similarity. This one lacks a little of that hefty piped tobacco compared to Herod- but its splitting hairs if you ask me. Overall an astonishing, Herod quality worthy clone for sure.

This is a gorgeous Fragrance in its own right, but it is far from a carbon copy of Herod. It's much sweeter and heavier on the cinnamon. It has become one of my favorite tobacco scents and has garnered plenty of compliments. Longevity is through the roof, at least for me.

I recieved Arabian Horse which is an inspiration of parfum de marly herods I am very very impressed If the Arabian Horse and parfum de marly herod were at same price I will buy Arabian horse beast in longevity and projection

Superb fragance, I haven't tried Herod but I love this, It is a manly, sweet, tabacco scent, long lasting and enourmous sillage,very enjoyable,It was a perfect blind buy.

Powerhouse scent with excellent projection and longevity. Sweet but not over the top. Wish I'd purchased the larger bottle.

Ok, so i had the chance to test this awesome juice with some other one from Alexandria named Hawai Volcano a great interpretation of creed VIW. Well i can only say this juice has blown me away. I am a sucker for the magnificent Herod from parfums de marly and i own a decant. The only bad part for it is the average performance...maybe it is just my skin or a batch variation, but let me tell you one thing, arabian horse is a beast in terms of projection and longevity compared to Herod. The smell is about 95% accurate, at least to my nose. It opens a little bit different but after about 5 min, it's right there. I applied this juice in the morning and i was surprised to receive a random compliment at mac donalds, from the lady who was preparing my order...and it was 7 pm ;))) so for all the lovers of Herod out there who have performance issues, you really have to try this juice, just fantastic. Also the prices are insane for the quality that you get. A lot of love for Alexandria.

I got Arabian Horse because I love Herod, but by the time my sample arrived I'd forgotten about the Herod connection, so my initial impressions of Arabian Horse were based on its own merits. AH is a really delicious scent, but for me the cinnamon and vanilla come across stronger than the tobacco; tobacco is definitely there, it's just not the dominant note, to my nose. So as its own fragrance, Arabian Horse is excellent and I'll definitely buy a full bottle once my sample is gone. Having said that, it's not an exact replacement for Herod, which has a stronger tobacco note, with the vanilla and cinnamon supporting it. AH is sweeter, so I can see how someone who loves Herod but has a low tolerance for sweetness might not like AH, but I'm guessing that most people who love one fragrance will also love the other.

I own both Herod and Arabian Horse. I had unrealistic, high hopes for this new clone of Herod. I've been disappointed in the past with Herod's projection, so I decided to give this a try. The opening is quite a bit different, but dry down is similar, minus the strong powdery note, which I prefer. I really wish they had used vetiver as a base instead of patchouli, but they did blend it well. I give this a strong like, but Herod is a love for me. The price for Arabian Horse is $65 for 60 ml. You can purchase 125 ml of Herod for less than $140 if you're able to find the right deal, which gives Arabian Horse no advantage in price. I still prefer Herod, but will wear Arabian Horse, too.

Very nice tobacco/vanilla DNA. Extremely close to PDM Herod. Another great fragrance similar to Herod and this is Spicebomb Extreme. Open with cherry pipe tobacco vibe. Extremely pleasant and smooth. As it dries down, the vanilla comes forth to combine with the tobacco. Longevity is great...projection is average. Overall, a very nice fragrance similar to the OG. My issue here is same with OG...a bit too redundant for me vs what I already own. If you don’t already have a couple spices tobacco/vanilla scents...this would be great. Go get a sample and check it. Sample will probably lead to bottle for you.

I must really be missing something because I don’t find the tobacco note in this at all. That’s not to say I don’t really like it! It’s sweet but not cloying, strong incense with notes of spicy cinnamon. I do not smell vanilla outright but there is a sweetness lingering at the base so I assume it’s the vanilla influence. It’s festive and warm and interesting.

Not sure, what to think about this frag: Doesn't smell bad on its own - but it fails when it comes to imitating PdM Herod ... to my nose, it smells more like Oajan than Herod.

I have great respect for Hany. I especially like some of his own unique creations. They are to be applauded! This however is not even in a close ballpark to Herod in any respect. Herod opens with a dry, very high quality tobacco, that then proceeds to be warmed up with a scrumptious vanilla that makes its way forward to encapsulate the scent as it dries down. Arabian horse on the other hand opens very creamy. I wouldn’t say it was vanilla, it’s more a sort of warm spicy creamy. Then as it proceeds to dry down, a tobacco note makes its way to the top which then evolves quite quickly into what is virtually identical to the opening spicy tobacco experience of Spicebomb Extreme. Honestly, it is so close to Spicebomb Extreme, I genuinely wondered if Hany had gotten his samples mixed up and given me a mislabeled Bazooka instead (which is his Spicebomb dupe that I have not tested yet). But nope, there it is in the ‘This perfume reminds me of’... Spicebomb Extreme!! What’s more, as it dries down, it behaves in exactly the same way that Spicebomb Extreme does where the signature spicy aspects of the original Spicebomb start to take centre stage and to a degree overtake the tobacco note - just like it does in Spicebomb Extreme. And this is how it remains. So aside from the creamy opening which actually only lasts for a fairly short period, this would absolutely be a hit if it were instead bottled as ‘Bazooka Extreme’ cos it’s strait up Spicebomb Extreme in an Alexandria bottle! Had it been marketed as that, I would have been impressed. As it stands though, despite the fact that I like Spicebomb Extreme, I’m disappointed in this for the fact that is has been quite severely misrepresented. Oh well, glad I only got a sample!

Beautiful fragrance for the festive season as it includes all the notes commonly smelled in late autumn (cinnamon, vanilla, tobacco and cozy spices). Performance is top notch especially on clothes. When I first bought my bottle last year I was not impressed with the performance. But after a few months of aging it definitely matured into a much stronger fragrance almost beast mode. Alexandria makes some wonderful fragrances but you're not saving as much money as you would think when you compare the bottle size and price to the original. Plus originals hold their value better and can be re-sold in the future. However I still recommend Alexandia because their quality is top notch. I own 6 fragrances from them and all perform very well and are 80-90% similar to the original niche/designer inspiration. Arabian Horse is one of their best for sure and 90% similar to Herod.

If based on the EU beware that unless you buy the largest bottle you are not saving any money and yet you are buying a "cheap" clone. Right now the 50 ml bottle is 96 euros sent to Europe, while the regular retail price of the original higher quality perfume is 260 euros for a 125 ml. You do the math of how many euros per ml and you get that the cheap close is actually a few cents more expense ml per ml.

If you are buying this fragrance as an alternative to Herod, PLEASE sample first. While the note break own may be accurate, the structure of the fragrance is no where near as inviting as Herod. The combination leads way to a fragrance that , to me, smells exactly like a petting zoo. it literally smells like its namesake, a horse. I understand it's quite popular but it is definitely not a safe blind buy.

Don't know what the reviewers are smoking, but its definitely not tobacco given the lack of it here. This is nothing like Herod quality wise, its synthetic and cloying. Herod make a nice sweet tobacco, but the tobacco impression here seems weirdly put together. Had to scrub this off and sell it at a loss after blind buying. Do yourself a favour and get a partial bottle of Herod. I got 120ml for £110. Much better than 55 for 55ml of this.

Good stuff. Selling a 100ml Bottle of this, will give you a great price. Also can include Tobacco Noir Intense from Montagne (other Herod clone)

This is a very good interpretation of Parfums De Marly’s Herod. Like others have said the only noticeable difference is a 10-15 variation on the sweeter notes on the top and middle. The dry down is nearly identical. This is where it does lose a little bit of class. With that said it is shocking that you can get such a classy, elegant, sophisticated, and complex fragrance such as this for $62.00, for a 55ml bottle. It’s crazy what a brand does to a price point. It’s 200% as much, more really because of the percentage increase with the volumes decrease. Also where this fragrance stands out is in its performance. It’s not crazy loud in its projection but does bring attention in any medium size room. The longevity of it is insane lasts over 12- 14 hours, and goes on dry just like any top of the line fragrance though conveniently priced differently. As far as the scent goes if you haven’t smelled Parfums De Marly’s Herod the next thing that comes to mind as far as easily describing it is Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille. It’s more complex than that though, it is also 33% less sweet replaced by woodsy notes. The pepper wood is similar to the Tobacco Vanille combination of spicy notes and woodsy notes. However in the front and in place of the vanilla. The vanilla is still noticeable but not really comparable. And on top of this is the patchouli and cinnamon that are pretty noticeable but blend together. 9/10

If you have smelt Herod then you will know what this smells like. Arabian Horse opens with a bit more vanilla and less spice - so opens kind of where Herod is after 15-20minutes. To my nose, this is very close. After 30mins I had a hard time telling them apart side to side (which is never that easy as I am sure you all know). I doubt a passer by would be able to tell any difference. In terms of performance, I agree - does not seem to improve upon it but seems about the same as Herod. This is just from a spray on the back of my hand. I have not tested this properly yet - when I do, if there any differences I will report back. I have a number of Alexandria samples - their Back Afgano is exact, this is about 90% at the start and over 95% after 30 minutes. At less than 1/2 the price this is a safe purchase if you like Herod! A very good interpretation indeed. (I will just say that Perfume Parlour have a very good oil out whilst the best interpretation I have found of this is by Fatihan Parfumarie in Germany - that literally is Herod extreme however it is more expensive than this and technically isn't as close because it is an amped up version)

I love this one...My scent impression of it... If Lanvin's Avant Garde and Versace Man "Purple bottle" had a baby, they would name him Arabian Horse, better quality that both those fragrances and smells very natural as well. I have read here that apparently it smells like Herod, I have never smelt Herod and that comparison is of no consequence or use to my reasoning for liking this fragrance, therefore i am refraining from calling it a clone of anything. I am judging it on its own merit. If you like tobacco based fragrances, i think you owe it to yourself to check this one out.It might just surprise you. It wears like an aura on me, i typically do 3 sprays and i can feel its presence, also seems to last 10+ on me. ~May the scent be with you~

I don't know how PDM Herod truly smells but I will tell you this is an amazing fragrance. I love the tobacco, cinnamon and vanilla. Amazing for the cold weather maybe cold spring nights too. I will say this fragrance has MAJOR staying power. I put this on Saturday around 6:30 PM. I took a shower the following morning on Sunday and later that evening around 7 PM I gave my mom a hug and she said I smelled amazing. I was like "wait I didn't even use a fragrance today" and she said I definitely smell a fragrance it's very good. I bet PDM Herod is amazing I hear a ton of great reviews about it but right now I can't afford that so Arabian Horse is an excellent alternative for a more affordable price.

I am not a big fan of PM Herod. It puts me off somehow. I don't know if this is an alternative to it. Price wise it's not. Actually one can get PM Herod at discounters for a bit more than Arabian Horse. When you account the price per ml, they come close. Now, Arabian Horse is a real Horse. I sprayed one tiny bit at 10am and I got wafts of it all day long. It tells me if I'd sprayed a good 3 pumps of it, it would have knocked my socks off. It is really a yummy tobacco scent. Cinnamon is not an accord agreeable to my nose (like a cinnamon bomb named HoS No 001), so I don't pick that up in here, and I am glad. It's a real joy if you are into sweet tobacco scents.

Yes, it's 'Herod'! Vanillic tobacco cinnabun bakery goodness - approximation is definitely over 90% So, you get to mostly pick and choose here. Herod is stronger and a touch more of the medicinal oud/cinnamon can be had becasue of that but they're still both sweet gourmands of course. Rated Herod an 8, but Mr Hany will get a higher score here for being mere tuppance compared to the megabombe cash-strapper that is Herod. So, I'll get the sample of Herod next with future full bottles of this when my 1st Herod runs out. Well done! PS: Mr Hany, do please try for better names for future releases though. I mean, 'Arabian Horse'. Really?? lol My rating: 9/10

Coasterfan, its looks like your the only person with a negative view which tells me this is personal, you have said the exact same words in your comments to other alaexandria fragrances so I doubt anyone will listen to you... anyway moving on, like 90% of Alexandria fragrances I have tested this one is 90% upwards to herod, its not the same quality which is of course expected as its a clone and much cheaper but its a great alternative and a great choice for non-snob fragheads like some people who expect the best even paying much less dolla!!! good on you hany! much appreciated... dua should follow in your footsteps

I have Herod on my right hand and Arabian Horse on my left hand. The first 15 minutes are when the fragrances are most different -- 80-90% similar. Herod has a sharp incense note to it while AH is much softer. I feel like Herod may project better at first but that may very well be because of how strong that incense note is. After the first 15 minutes the fragrances are indistinguishable from one another, with AH actually being more pleasant to my nose as it softens the harsh opening notes of Herod.

Hany has done a great job with all of the PdM frags that Alexandria has done so far and this one is no exception. Arabian Horse is an interpretation of Herod and, while the opening is slightly different, after 30 minutes they are virtually identical. This is another great fall/winter gourmand that gets the typically good Alexandria performance of 6-8 hours on my skin and longer on clothes.

I don ́t know how but I read a lot about people have discounts on PdM fragrances but I don ́t find them. I ́m starting to think that is just false and I ́m thinking that because I read about discounts especially in the Alexandria ́s fragrances reviews as an excuse to say that Alexandria ́s scents have no advantage in front to PdM "if you find the deal". Looks like bullshit.

Same as with Royal Equisterian to me. I had Herod for a few months, and it was very weak in terms of projection. Arabian Horse is the superior fragrance in my honest opinion. Right off the bat it is strikingly close to Herod. This has become my most worn tobacco based fragrance wir 18.21 Man Made Sweet Tobacco Spirits. Guys give it a try - you won't regret it :)

Good fragrance on its own merit and not really close to Herod, it is as close as any fragrance with tobacco, cinnamon, and vanilla. Wish it had more tobacco like some reviewers have stated. The tobacco is dialed down and cinnamon and vanilla ramped up. I'll probably layer it with Aramis Havana to give it some extra tobacco oomph.

My God. I have the travel size AH, sprayed about 5 hours ago. Skin scent by now, but small whiffs drift off. This stuff is GOOOOOD. haven't smelled herod, but WOW. If it's better then AH, might need a blind-ish buy..

I haven’t smelled PDM Herod but this still smells great in its own right. LOTS of cinnamon and like others have mentioned not really too much tobacco. It’s still very masculine though and longevity is great.

Opening isn’t of a high of quality as Herod (Herod has one of the best openings you’ll ever smell) But after a couple of minutes it is identical and I’d say it lasts longer than Herod as well 9/10 !

Good stuff, very close to Herod, less cloying and more versatile to wear. However I still prefer PDM Herod as it is heavier on tobacco and more resinous.
