Hafez 1984 Intense

Whoa... This is like a more fruity, leather version of "Side Effect". Not sure I'm a fan yet. Will definitely have to layer this with a vanilla frag. This leather is STRONG! Wow... Not getting any of the coffee, and i'm shocked because "Alex.Frags" usually does great with their note separation. I think it's probably just me...I don't do well with leather and, to me, it overpowers everything else. But I can't even say that's true in this case because I COMPLETELY got the "Blueberry" ghost note from the Jasmine/Saffron/Sandalwood combo. I dunno...I definitely like this...but it's going to be one of those frags that I layer one spray of it with 12 sprays of another...like a strong vanilla frag. I can see "1984 Intense" being an accent frag... 28NOV22 Wooooooow...this is nuclear level!! Literally...two sprays and you can smell this all friggin day! This is insane! I may have to buy a 30ml bottle of it JUST for that reason alone!! Yeah, I think I'm gonna...this is waaaay too good to pass on. This is something I could put in a 10ml travel sprayer and take with me and not need any other fragrance for a week or more. I wish I got the coffee but I'm happy with the blueberry and leather...this is different from any other fragrance in my collection, but it's wonderful and I'm loving it even greater the more that I wear it. Amazing....just amazing! 12DEC22 30ml bottle in-the-house!!! I've been loving this the more I've given it a try and the scent profile of my travel sprayer has smoothed out since I got it in a few weeks back. I can wear more than 2 sprays of it now without my throat feeling scratchy. Still love layering this with a strong thick vanilla fragrance of my own make though! It's the perfect accent-frag to a deep boozy-vanilla. LOVE IT!!! I'll go ahead and refill my travel sprayer from the 30ml bottle so that one will be macerated by the time I go to wear it. 31DEC22 For New Years Day I'm wearing this on top of a base layer of "BBW - Coffee & Whiskey". Tested the combo on my arm today and it's amaaaaaaazing!!! 04DEC23 I'm enjoying the leather in "Dior Fahrenheit EDT" and "Dior Fahrenheit Le Parfum" far more than this fragrance. While I do love the opening blueberry note..it doesn't last and the fragrance becomes an oppressive leather bag over my head. Thereby, I haven't worn it in many many months...and probably will not again. I may pass this on to someone if not worn in the early new year.

This is delicious. There is that vanilla/tonka accord that initially makes you think this will veer into Mugler Pure Tonka-levels of gourmandness, but not so! There is a perceptible undercurrent of roasted coffee and a hint of medicinal oud that keep the sugar in check. The notes blend so beautifully, a perfect balance between sweet and bitter. As it dries down, the leather comes out as a solid base for the fragrance. I have now several AF originals and they are all excellent. Mr Hafez is a fine perfumer in his own right.

I really enjoy this and my wife does too. I received a sampler for Christmas and wasn’t sure what to expect with this one. It is sweet, but still masculine and the performance/projection is great—especially for the cost. I’d sample it first, but I now have a full bottle and will probably always keep it in my collection.

DrNDJas said it all! Alas for me the perfume for me is more of an ambient scent. I get a bubble of beautiful coffee scent surrounding me that others can smell but I can only smell once in a while. Can’t smell it off the sprayed spots either. Edit. Can still sort of smell it while sorting out the laundry after 24 hrs.

Beautiful... more dark and sweet compared to hafez 84. Its very smooth and well blended but does not last as long as hafez 84, well on me anyways.. this has more of a coffee sweet vibe to it. I get more reaction from the OG but this is still very nice if you are into gourmand types of things.

Aptly named...this one is intense. Crappy, cheap oud note; at least it’s well blended. Opens into synthetic rum and vanilla, tones down into coffee and leather. Not great but not bad.

In short, sweeter version of Hafez 1984

Hafez 1984 Intense is, as is Hafez 1984, an original creation and not a dupe. However, 1984 and 1984 Intense are two totally different fragrances. I've tested Hafez 1984, liked it and look forward to buying a full bottle. Intense is a bit more complicated. I'll start with performance. It definitely is intense and is much stronger than the OG. Longevity for me was over 12 hours and the first few hours you can definitely dominate a room with it, especially if you over spray. Given the price, it's quite a good value. Definitely a cool weather fragrance. As for the scent, that's where it got complicated for me. The opening makes an immediate impression with oud and leather. To be honest, I didn't detect any coffee note. If it's there, it's pretty well buried. As it dries down, the oud becomes a bit tamer (although it never has a barnyard aspect) and the fragrance becomes smoother and creamier with the addition of the sandalwood and vanilla. What I'm not 100% sure of is the sweetness. It first struck me as too sweet but during the rest of the wear, I changed my mind multiple times. The scent is overall very nice and unique to me; it's just the sweetness I'm not sure about. I'm going to put my sample aside for a month or two and revisit. At that time, I'll update my review. UPDATE: 2/9/2025 I tried Intense again. This time, the coffee note was noticeable but not strong. Still turned out too sweet for me. After the opening, it had a very ripe fruit accord. This along with the sweetness makes it a pass for me.

Looking at the note breakdown, I was certain I'd enjoy this. Unfortunately, I simply can't stand it. I find it WAY too sweet. In fact, this is the definition of "cloyingly sweet." To my nose, this is reminiscent of a blueberry maple syrup. Doesn't help also that the notes listed here are not entirely correct. I get almost zero coffee. Just a sickeningly sweet tonka bean and oud combo. I am willing to swap this with someone else if this is their jam. EDIT: I no longer own the bottle of this. I was able to sell it to someone about a month ago.

If you could only have 1 men's fragrance and you wanted great aroma, great projection, great longevity and classy nuance, I can't think of anything I'd recommend more. Beautifully done.

Who lists notes on this site? look at the bottle, it clearly says "Tonka Bean", HELLO !

This smells like Intense Cafe to me. Hafez 1984 smells completely different to me
