Shortly into its wearing, the sweeter notes meld softly with the heavier, creamier base and leave a welcoming, uplifting vibe of golden warmth. While it goes on strong and sweet, it settles back into a comfortable and sensible sillage for several hours, leaving a thick and honeyish after-effect on clothing. This and Borouj Perlador have a huge overlap. I'm surprised no one commented on that. Or the other way around - I think H1984 came out first. They're too close to be flankers if we can image that scenario. This is like a re-balanced, a touch smoother Borouj Perlador (... or the other way around lol - sorry, I just bought BP first). The red-tobacco accord is amped up and a lot more noticeable in H1984, and it holds for much longer. Perlador is quick to go into the rest of the notes: vanilla/tobacco/incense/leather etc., with the vanilla in particular ramped up on my skin. Altho Red Tobacco has a similar red-hookah-tobacco accord (I pick up more apple in it than H1984), the overlap between those two is not as prominent as BP. So if you disliked the red tobacco accord in Red Tobacco and wish it was gone or greatly lessened - Perlador might be for you. If you liked it and you're missing it in Perlador (... like I did!) : H1984 I'm happy owning both BP & H1984, but I got rid of the Mancera ... yet I'm weary owning both might be redundant for most people! The smoothest of the 3 mentioned is H1984 to my nose, but not by a lot. If you own one of the others - don't worry, you're good. I prefer the blend here, but take my advice - sample first if you can :) This is stellar, amazing quality. To me: H1984 : 9/10 Borouj Perlador : 9/10 Red Tobacco : 8/10 I'll macerate this and see how it opens/changes, as this often happens with similar brands/perfumes. p.s. it does need ~25-30 mins or so to settle so the tobacco & booziness come out 🙂 /edit oh for some reason I can get away with wearing BP in a chillier spring. This... I'm not so sure. It's not denser, heavier, or anything. Hard to explain.

I got a decant soon after it came out. It the Cali heat in the summer it was too much, the booze was too strong. I recently went back to it and am really digging it. This is not unisex to me, straight grown man type of smell. My wife doesn't really dig tobacco row Busey type fragrances. She's not a fan of my pure havane or anything else I got this tobacco Based. She told me today this one smell good which is amazing for me because she doesn't like a lot of my winter fragrances she's more of a Citrus Freshy type of person. Nice and sweet in the opening for 2-3 hours on my skin. I then get a dry tobacco and slight vanila scent that sits a bit closer to the skin after the 4 hour mark, but that scent last for the rest of the day. On clothes that sweet scent last all day. I literally asked my wife to smell it on my wife beater 10hrs after I sprayed it while I was changing to go out to dinner to see if she digged it before respraying. I will eventually end up with a bottle but right now I got too many cold weather fragrances and it only gets cold here for about 3 months. Maybe I will get a full bottle next winter depending on how fast I go through this decant. Might have to bump something off of the rotation. Defiantly a unique scent that smells good. A conversation starter for sure. This is better fit for cool weather and slightly warm but not for weather above low 80's for me. This can be worn casually but also dressed up. Smells like 25 and up for me but I can see a college guy pulling this off to rock on a night out. Longevity 9/10 Projection 7/10 Scent 8/10

After owning and wearing this for the past 3-4 years....I have to say that none of the others that I own come close to it EXCEPT "Mystery Tobacco" & "Exclusif Tabac". I've been comparing and contrasting all of my "Tobacco" fragrances and I've come to the conclusion that In my heart....I desire a pure TOBACCO note scent. I only get this from the three fragrances mentioned thus far. "Red Tobacco" has far too much syrupy sweetness and fruits....the same with "Fragrance World - Apex" and all the others in my collection (at least 5 others). "Hafez 1984" gives that beautifully dry and strong PURE tobacco that very few other fragrances offer. There's no heavy sugar mixed in to the composition, there's no syrupy fruits added in...just enough to give the scent profile a slight lift with the added notes without taking away from the star of the scent...THE TOBACCO NOTE! I can layer "Hafez 1984" with other fragrances if I want to add in other notes or additional sweetness. Or...if I want that pure manly and mature TOBACCO scent, I can wear it by itself. It is a perfect fragrance on its own and signature-scent worthy!! This is an absolute masterpiece...and I will be ordering another bottle before my current one gets below the halfway point. Wow. I’ve sampled 24 Alexandria frags and for some reason their smell on strips has almost no resemblance to the way they smell on my skin, especially Hafez 1984. On paper, it smells cloyingly sweet and pretty bad, even after an hour of drying. On my skin it goes dry tobacco leather within a couple of minutes. There’s a little machine shop in this as well. Some grime. I put this in the Fahrenheit category of fragrances. It smells bad and good. My wife walked by me and goes “you smell like a grandma” and I go, “you’re definitely wrong. If anything I smell like a mechanic.” I smush my bicep into her nose. She sniffs. “UGH”. She walks away angry. 7 seconds later, her from the other room: “I kind of like it.” That’s what kind of fragrance this is. It’s a paradox. Ugly and beautiful. Repulsive and attractive. Dead possum on a unicorn’s back. Very worn machine leather old pipe tobacco tailings. A child eating a vanilla ice cream cone sneezed 16 feet away as the breeze blew the atomized vanilla spit particles through the exhaust cloud of an old Harley that was just fixed and started after sitting unused for 7 years. It does smell red, like brownish red. Deep setting sun filtered through smog. This fragrance IS a mood itself. Also, to me, this has the body of Tf tobacco vanille, and has ~20% of its DNA I'd say.

I am not very much of a tobacco lover, only when it is done in small amounts. So this one is not for me. However, I do see the beauty of this fragrance. Out of the handful of tobacco-forward fragrances I have smelled, this one is something else. The tobacco and patchouli dominate this fragrance, giving it a bit of an animalic vibe. The vanilla smoothes things out. Which is not seen in a fragrance like Aramis Havana and makes it more mass-appealing. I can see myself wearing this in 10-15 years. For me (34 years old), this is too mature. Even though younger guys can pull this off, I definitely can not. The ratings below are given by 45 year old future me: Scent: 10/10 Projection: 10/10 (very strong, will fill a room) Sillage: 9/10 (It is clearly present, I can imagine the room smelling like this for a solid 5 minutes after the person leaves) Longevity: 10/10 (12+ hours on skin, even after showering. I can imagine this lasting 4-5 days on clothes) Versatility 6/10 (Too heavy and dark to wear on many occassions) Uniqueness: 8/10 Price-performance: 9/10 Total: 8.5/10

Pungent beginning of tobacco and an almost sneeze inducing opening that goes away almost before my finger is released from the atomizer, then hold on, you are in for transdimensional olfactory journey through the multi-verse of beauty. There is a smoky rum where the smoke reminds you of another perfume that has some how been improved greatly. When I pondered my thoughts the other fragrance was Le Labo Patchouli 24. This is the best segment of the scent. It comes across almost as a high quality oud and rum accord, although oud isn't listed in the notes. I wish I could travel at the speed of light at this phase of the development so as to stop the progression of time that it may never end, and this phase does hang around for 4-5 hours. I say that because there is a tobacco-laced powderiness in the dry down that isn't bad, but it is powder, and I am just not a big fan of powder. I still give this fragrance a solid 8.5/10 for the transdimensional romp through the olfactory multi-verse and it's longevity. Great fragrance.

Okay....i think i finally understand this fragrance after a year of trying to wear it off and on. I decided to grill today for the 4th and i looked through My entire collection to find something the wood smoke wouldn't overstep. I figured I'd give this a try as a base-layer and put some "diesel - ++feminine" on top for that creamy green foresty cloud. Manoman was i right in picking "Hafez 1984"!!! It's like the fragrantic "terminator"!! It just keeps on coming and nothing stops it! Not smoke, not sweat, not sun, not bugs..... NOTHING! I'm sooooooooo glad i still have this, I'm sorry that i didn't understand just what a gem it is earlier. I picked up "Maison Alhambra - Exclusif Tabac" due to Projection/longevity/sillage/scent/price being AHMAZING! And the price couldn't be beaten at $32 for a 3.4oz bottle at Jomashop. I'll keep "Hafez 1984" on the shelf though it will only be used after I finish off my 2019 batch bottles of "Mancera - Red Tobacco"...

I live in Indonesia, which is a tropical country with mostly sunny and humid days. It is quite intriguing that I love mostly winter/cold weather fragrances. Several months ago I tried the decant of this Hafez 1984. I was blown away by this. I've tried tobacco perfume before. But I think this fragrance was the most wearable among the others. It is sweet and wet tobacco scent, not harsh and dry like that Victor and Rolf Spicebomb Extreme. And you can feel the boundary of this tobacco scent which is vanilla, dried fruit, and rum. So the tobacco scent is toned down by those notes. And the tobacco notes is not like smoke / burned tobacco. Yes, this fragrance is best suit in cold/fresh weather environments or indoor with aircon. But beware of the SPL. This stuff is super strong. 8+ hours longevity, and sillage for 3-4 hours. Indoor, my suggestion, is don't do more than 2 sprays. The price is affordable approx 119 US$ for 100 ml which is nice.

This is an amazing fragrance. People compare it to PdM Carlisle. But I find few similarities. They are far cousins at best. Carlisle is much sweeter and less refined. Carlisle has no tobacco listed, which is not strange to me, as I smell no tobacco at all. Hafez 1984 is a very dry, but still very wearable tobacco-forward scent. The rum and vanilla take off the rough edges, which tobacco can have. To my nose, H1984 has much more in common with PdM Herod. A drier, less sweet, less dense, more airy Herod. Much better performer though. It sits right in between PdM Herod and TF Tobacco Vanille in terms of scent profile and performance. Never smelled Mancera Red Tobacco. So I cannot compare it to this. Hafez 1984 is a keeper for me. Scent: 9/10 Projection: 8/10 Sillage: 9/10 Longevity: 9/10 (9-10h on skin) Versatility 7/10 (Only for colder days and formal/dressed-up occassions) Uniqueness: 9/10 Price/performance: 8/10 Total: 8.5

Ahhh! This is amazing! This is Bruberry London's tobacco mixed with warm, rich oriental spices, a green note of patchouli, & sweetened up just the right amount with vanilla rum. Unfortunately, it dials down pretty quick to a flat version of the aforementioned scent. How? Well, the spiciness fade to a hint, taking a big chunk of the warm richness, leaving me with a sweet tobacco/patchouli scent. It is still very nice though. I love how the sweetness doesn't dominate & as it's just a dab. Nonetheless, dare I say this is the better version of Burberry London, V&R Spicebomb, & Bvlgari Man in Black? They all went for spicy tobacco but this won because of the rich oriental spices used. That fantasied ancient Arabic vibe is just so good! I only tried Hafez because it, supposedly, smells like Mancera's Red Tobacco & I didn't get my hand on that yet. Can Red Tobacco be any better than this? We'll see. Hafez 1984, you get a "Love"!

I sprayed my wrist and got a gorgeous opening with tobacco, patchouli, rum and spices but as the fragrance dries down the booze and spices disappear and leaves a strong tobacco with hints of patchouli and some traces of vanilla. Not as amazing as the opening but still awesome enough to deserve a spot on my ‘Love’ list. This was a blind buy based on the note breakdown and it didn’t disappoint, I think Hany should focus on the original creations and get rid of the ‘clone house’ label. Gorgeous fragrance scent is 8.5 to me haven’t tested performance properly yet *********** Update: Wore it last night and longevity is very very good. On the drydown I got some oud like feel and at a certain point some chocolate vibe, I know they aren't notes that are actually in Hafez 1984 but I kind a felt them for a moment there. Spray carefully, spray lightly cause this stuff is strong

You know, when we’re honest about it, fragrances are almost always overpriced for what is actually in them these days. There is very little of the ultra-expensive natural rose oil, ambergris, oud, or other precious ingredients. If what brings about the high price tags are marketing, perception or merely brand prestige, then I’d just as soon pay AF as I would anyone else. 1984 exemplifies this sentiment: it’s wonderful. No qualifiers. Just a banger of a scent. Smooth tobacco. Underlying sweetness without being a sugar bomb. Spicy, masculine, rich. The drydown is a thing of beauty. Absolutely worth the praise it receives. If you want to smell good, check out this house. If you want something else from your fragrance, don’t!

It starts off almost identical to Mancera Red Tobacco, pungent stinky tobacco, which I like but not love! Red Tobacco is to my nose, linear to the original spritz scent. Strong, masculine. But Hafez although the same as Red tobacco at the beginning, After a short wait, is sweeter and sexier than Red Tobacco, Hafez is not linear. I love this one. It's a perfume that smells better when you don't put your nose right on it. It's got a strong silage that drifts around me and I smell it as I'm moving around. I'm really enjoying wearing Hafez 1984. The first spritz isn't a favourite in my collection but it's worth going through because once it dries on the skin it's soooo very beautiful. A sweet oriental, tobacco I love! ❤❤❤

Hafez 1984 is a very rich and intoxicating fragrance. Don't be mislead by its short list of notes, there is warm complexity and opulence from beginning to end. The most prominent notes I get off my skin are a deep dry tobacco (more like leaf than any type of smoke), and an aged rum with the Patchouli providing a strong foundation to uphold the spice. The valilla keeps things rounded and sophisticated. Hafez 1984 can be dressed up or down, in my opinion and is exclusively for the Autumn and Winter night scenario. But no matter how you wear it, you're going to exude depth and sophistication with a noticeable undertone of sensuality. I think Edmond Dontes from the Count of Monte Cristo would wear this.

I cant tell you enough: BUY THIS FRAG. Some say its a copy of Red Tobacco, but its not. In a similar vain? maybe, But this Frag will blow your fucking mind. Its opening is super solid rather than the insane opening of red tobacco, and it is POWERFUL. Most of all, the tobacco smells fresher and juicier than the dry tobacco is spicebomb extreme. 10/10 easily. Has me excited for Hafez Cigar and has me buying a sample pack from Alexandria despite the shitty attitude of the perfumer and the clone mindset; But hey. I don't have 300 dollars to spend on Tobacco oud. Maybe the clone game has a good purpose in the end... But this is no clone. This is a statement; Hany Hafez knows what he's doing.

This is a hidden gem. The two alexandria fragrances I own are both bangers! I would also recommend Black panther if you’re into chepra type fragrances. Back to hafez ... The opening reminds me of ombre leather for some reason. It drys down into a smooth booze it’s quite unique in my opinion. Its a spicy rum ombre leather to me. Maybe some would disagree... nonetheless this stuffs great and for the price I recommend this as a blind buy you can get 10 ml on the website. I do think you have to be a bit more mature to pull it off but if you’re 30 plus this is definitely one to consider! Also if you like a boozy smell for those nights out this would be good for sure. 9/10

Really, really good. Several people told me they loved it. To me, this could pass as an inspiration of Mancera Red Tobacco. It also has similarities to PDM Carlisle. Very good. EDIT: Have to edit my review. This is more than just 'really good' like I wrote last time. This is stunning. Quality wise it beats out anything I've tried from By Killian, Parfums de Marley, etc. This is the hidden gem of 2018. Hany if you're reading this -- you need to make a proper niche house man. The inspiration stuff was nice but you could easily charge $300 for this.

The hype behind this one is real. A nice boozy tobacco fragrance with some vanilla. Accented by the warming spices of cardamon and cinnamon. It also has some sweet and semi-leathery saffron in it. A friend of mine also suggested that there is guaiac wood in there as well. I would have to agree. The guaiac wood and cardamom seem to be the reason that some get a PdM Carlisle vibe from this one. Deep, rich, challenging yet charming. For adults only. Boozy tobacco with beastly performance. Needs at least 5 weeks of maturation after initial 6 to 10 sprays. Do not base any final judgement until that time has past. It has a nasty synthetic note on skin that completely disappears with patience. As much as I like it, similar to Arabians Tonka, I'm afraid to wear it in public in case I choke nearby people. Maybe I'll spray it a couple of times under a few layers of clothing and see how it goes.
