Hawaii Volcano Intense

So I just received this fragrance this past week. Creed's VIW is my favorite scent, but it only lasts about thirty minutes to an hour on my skin. This was recommended in various forums and Reddit threads, so I figured for $60 it was worth a shot. First off, don't buy this expecting an EXACT replica. It's not, and that's fine. For a frag this cheap, I wasn't expecting $400 Creed-level quality. But hey, this comes pretty close! The opening hits you with a fresh lime scent that's (IMO) better than VIW. It's not sharp or bitey, and lasts into the mid pretty well. The most similar comparison is in the dry down. They've managed to get pretty close to Creed here. Soft coconut and floral notes paired with that intoxicating (yeah, I know) rum note. This is definitely sweeter than VIW in my experience, so keep that in mind if you're wanting something more subtle, as that sugar cane note is prominent. If you're buying this expecting it to project like a monster, look elsewhere. It's not going to after the first twenty minutes. Same projection as VIW for me, but this lasts a good 5+ hours longer for me. About 6 hours on skin, slightly longer on clothes. For $60, I can't find much to truly complain about. It smells really close, lasts longer, and costs exponentially less. If you really enjoy VIW, this may be worth checking out. (Only recommend wearing in 70+ degree weather.) Opening is aquatic and fruity. Coconut, rum, and sand. Very reminiscent of Virgin Island Water or Tommy Bahama St. Bart's. Which is great since that's one of my favorites. Smells like a high-end sun lotion, but boozy and a bit of lime. Similar middle to the top, which is good. A little more woody. A little closer to the husk of the coconut than the juice. Still lightly sandy and sea/salty. Dry down is also remarkably similar to Virgin Island Water. Gently musky and a faint hint of soft coconut. A little floral. Pretty different from St. Barts by this stage. Close to the skin after about 3 hours. I love it. It would feel redundant to have both this and Virgin Island Water and I would choose this one easily for how close they are. I would pick St. Bart’s if I had to only choose one scent of this style, but I think they are different enough to keep them both.

A virgin Island water killer. You get less freshness and more of the dry down. A sweet,dense, tropical beautiful fragrance. I is perfect for summer nights. Sure this isn't uber masculine, but for summer dates, this one is a charmer. 5 to 7 hours longevity, fair projection. For the money i suggest this over virgin island water ! Basically a mix of sweet lime soda with virgin island water. I love the bright limey opening then it dries down to more coconut. The lime is still there throughout the life of the fragrance and it last all day long

I let it macerate for a few years. It’s so good. Better than Creed and it lasts all day. I love this one. And I don’t usually like dupes . This one I do like. But it does need to macerate

I mainly get a sweet coconut. It’s decent, very oils and lasts long, but I would try to pair it sm with something unless you just wanna smell like a coconut (nothing else).

Very nice summer refreshing scent, it's sweet and lemony. Projection and performance are very good.

Hawaii Volcano vs Hawaii Volcano Intense Full disclosure, I've never had the opportunity to smell Creed's Virgin Island Water. Going to compare these to Tommy Bahama's Set Sail St. Barts. I also let these two samples settle for MONTHS (as I bought them last fall, and just got done giving each a full day of wearing). Hawaii Volcano: Smells identical to the dry-down of St. Barts. I get a vanilla vibe that smells fantastic. HV also has BEAST performance too! 14+ hours. Hawaii Volcano Intense : Definitely not the same. A strong lime sweetness, very faint vanilla vibe. Doesn't smell as good as HV. Performance is not as good either.

Creed Virgin Island Water meets English Laundry Tahitian Waters. Or VIW with the ylang ylang and orange dialed up a bit. It's a fun and happy scent for warm weather wear, or for when you wish the weather was warmer. Similar performance, if a bit better than the Creed. Quality overall seems very good, par for the course with AF. Overall not bad, but just not quite the same as VIW. Just know that going in. Expect something stylistically similar and you won't be disappointed. I like it.

HVI on one arm and Creed VIW on the other. Creeds opening with that lime is amazing and HVI can't compete. However, that fresh lime is gone in minutes with the VIW. After 30 minutes, VIW is a skin scent at best. HVI takes over and continues to project and smell almost exactly like Creed for hours. On clothes it lasts days. Gets compliments. Love this stuff.

Nah, stop saying its cheap Creed Virgin Island Water, its not near as subtle or pleasant. It's nice, I like it, but VIW is the king, sorry. Definite difference. Similar mood maybe, I will give you that but.. side by side, nope. This is great to wear to the tiki bar definitely

Good fragrance if you are into the profile. Shares some similarity with Erba pura, tropical, fruity and citrus, although personally I prefer this fragrance over EP. I would say this can be unisex but it leans slightly feminine.

Lovely fresh scent comparable to VIW. Lasts a little longer on me than Gorse but is very similar and both good alternatives to Creed.

Lipton's instant lemon ice tea + coconut water.

When trying to find a bottle of Creed VIW and failing to find a single one in stock, I decided to find dupes which were supposed to be close to the original and this was the one that many recommended as being '90% close.' Upon spraying it, I was shocked not because there was something glaringly wrong with this fragrance but because if this is what VIW was supposed to smell like, I couldn't understand all the rave reviews for it. I used to think perhaps VIW has got a cult following because it's part of the Creed lineup and so people overrate it. I was wrong. Finally got my nose on real VIW and this fragrance is not in any way shape of form a 'clone.' Yes, Hawaii Volcano Intense has a similar vibe to VIW - tropical citrusy scent - although that is where the similarities end. Virgin Island Water is primarily a coconut based fragrance which also has a lime note added to it to balance out the sweetness from the sugarcane, rum and coconut. Throughout the life of it you also get occasional wafts of the ginger and hibiscus present in it which add a slight acidity to an otherwise sweet albeit very fresh fragrance. It's genuinely so well done and is a true coconut, tropical summertime fragrance. Hawaii Volcano Intense is not. Hawaii volcano intense seems to be missing the coconut note entirely. The reason I wanted a dupe/clone of VIW in the first place was because there aren't too many coconut fragrances that lean masculine on the market and I couldn't find a bottle of the original online or close to me so Alexandria it was. There is no coconut in this fragrance at all. The lime is very present and very overpowering compared to all other notes in this fragrance. This wouldn't be an issue either if it were not for the fact that the lime note is so artificial. The lime smell is the same kind of lime smell you get in household cleaning products/detergents and can sometimes be so sharp you feel like sneezing. The generic sweetness in the basenotes added to said artificial lime smell makes this smell like you poured sprite/7up on yourself. There seem to be no other notes other than cleaning detergent lime and sweetness, at least not to my nose. Not worth the $45 or however much this fragrance is. You're better off getting a coconut mist from Bath and Body Works because at least it will cost less and have some semblance of coconut to it. This is a cheap VIW for people who hate coconut. In that case, just get a fougere or freshie from another house. Would not recommend. This is nothing at all like VIW. Unfortunately VIW is very expensive but till date there is not a single clone that comes close to how well blended and made it is. Performance may not be the best on the OG but I'd take a better smell and weak performance over not so good smell and great performance any day of the week.

I've been studying this fragrance for the past few days, and people who have been describing this as a simple Virgin Island Water on steroids are really becoming too copy and paste, and frankly annoying. I like the opening, but there are nuances that make Virgin Island Water a much more refined fragrance. In Hawaii Volcano Intense, the bergamot and lime are fighting for first place, although the lime is sweetened by the bergamot (which is sort of a tangerine scent). The drydown is VERY similar to Lacoste White with a very strong ylang ylang note. The ylang ylang is very strong. I've been sniffing my fragrance oils like a mad scientist trying to figure this one out. When I first received it, all I got was ISO E Super with a very faint fragrance sweet bergamot. I've since learned that this fragrance needs to steep for a month for the fragrance to come together. It's still coming together. Drydown: For some reason the note of ylang ylang bothers me, and was the reason I gave Lacoste White away on my youtube channel. The owner of the company is very supportive, and is willing to send me a new fragrance of my choice, and use the other fragrance as a gift. I would say that the owner is a very good business owner. I plan on buying other fragrances. Projection: I've only had the fragrance for a short time, and the projection would be considered weak to moderate, and is one of the reasons I am annoyed by the term "on steroids". I expect the fragrance to project better as time passes. Longevity: very long, but as a skin scent. ⭐

Edit 12/30/2024: I had to come back and edit my review because I am surprised with how this fragrance has developed. I ended up gifting it to my boyfriend and he has worn it a few times since I gifted it to him. Each time he has worn it I thought it smelled better than the last. Tonight we were smelling his colognes and I sprayed this one. I am genuinely surprised to discover it smells a lot better and more like what I was anticipating originally. It smells citrusy like fresh cut limes. There is some creamy coconut and salty air, definitely reminds me of the beach. I can still smell a bit of the hairspray/gel vibe I was getting before but it’s toned down. I am so impressed and definitely think if you’re not loving this, it helps to let it macerate! I read this in the reviews/on Reddit but I am a skeptic lol I am so disappointed with Hawaii Volcano Intense. This smells like hairspray/hair gel and generic fruity/artificial citrus. It’s really harsh and I get no coconut whatsoever.. I purchased a sample of Malibu Party in the Bay and absolutely love it but it has poor longevity on me. Malibu smells like realistic fresh cut limes and coconut milk. I had read and was hoping this would be a stronger version of that. This is not similar at all. Really disappointed because this isn’t wearable at all for me! To me it smells like straight up hair products specifically Biolage shampoo my mom used in the 2000s.

Doesn't smell expensive or smooth at all. I know it's NOT expensive, but this smells cheap and a bit harsh even on drydown. Has that cheapish and slightly sour aquanet chemical hairspray vibe after an hour that poor quality fragrances carry. All I smell after an hour is sweetened hairspray which causes me to sneeze. Honestly smells like some inexpensive oils added to cheap-ish perfumer's alcohol. About 25 dollar rack-store quality. I wouldn't wear this on a date or somewhere decent, at all. I'm a school teacher, this smells exactly of the metal-can Walmart body sprays that the 14 year old girls keep in their bags which I keep asking not to sprayed inside the classroom. Just OK, if my expectations are low. I'm dumbfounded by the rave reviews here, and I had high hopes. I get slightly non-descript fruity hairspray, no coconut to be found (which is what I was looking for), and couldn't identify a specific fruit anywhere. I'd wash it off if I weren't feeling lazy. Absolute NO for work, unless I worked in a strip joint. I feel like a teenager wearing this, but not in a good, youthful way. In a "I could have bought a fleeting Light Blue flanker instead' way. Very very harsh. Did I mention Aquanet enough? At 40+ dollars, this is not acceptable quality. Disappointed! First and last Alexandria purchase for sure.

First to review ! Ya-Hoo ! This was my FIRST Alexandria fragrance and I started out with an "intense" as it was a BLIND BUY for $60.00, you know... BOOM! They were correct: this is CREED Virgin Island Water on steroids ! I knew I was in for something special as the first blast out was developing right before me-- especially the LIME. I sprayed myself 4 times an hour ago, walked home in the rain, and it's still kicking ass. (90% of everything I own dies out in under an hour on me). This will NOT be my last Alexandria by a long shot. I have a list of the next 10 that I want........ So yeah BLIND BUY SAFE if you love CREED Virgin Island Water ! P.S. I have no idea how powerful the non-intense version of Hawaii Volcano is; but who needs it when you have this ! Side Note: If I must pick on something: the bottles are very plain and boring and all the same colors -- even the labels . So if you have an Alexandria collection and are in a hurry to grab-n-go ........you may grab the wrong one and then have to hunt for the correct one.

The reviewer below me is not giving this fragrance enough justice (Forever Neil). First I need to say that I own close to 200 fragrances. Hawaii Volcano Intense I beleive is an intense insperation of Virgin Island Waters. But for me it is a very pleasent citrousy coconutty creamy tropical fragrance all on its own. Tropical in a bottle. I have many summer fragrances but theirs something special about this one. Im always searching for the next best fragrance but Im thinking about purchasing a back up bottle of this thats how good this fragrance is.. Im really loving this. Longevity is 9/10 I could smell this strongly the next day on my skin especially on clothes.. projection 9/10. No matter how many fragrances Im wearing or testing on my skin this fragrance always seems to stand out a little more. Sillage 9/10 Ive been getting complements.. and for a summer fragrance thats always a good thing .. Mmmm I love this creamy tropical summery goodnessss!👃🤔😎🤗

No way is the projection weak or moderate ! I have fragrance eating skin , NOTHING lasts all day on me. Not even VINTAGE Dior . This does! True, the subtle nuances of VIW may not be included here; but this is $50.00 and it's so potent that if you used it as a "go to" grab-- a bottle will last you almost a year!

Unless I'm going noseblind, this has zero sillage/ projection. It stays for a long time on skin, but other than that what good is this fragrance?

Is it a decent scent? Yeah. Does is smell like Virgin Island Water like it's supposed to? Not a bit🥺
