Invidia

I haven’t smelled Envy is years, but Invidia gets very close as my memory serves, if it does at all, so take that for what it is. I love the sandalwood used here, and it certainly is the main note. It performs quite well in its current form, lasting all day with modest sillage. Spices and mild florals round out a beautiful, masculine, somewhat “traditional” yet refined scent. Invidia is very good if you like this style of fragrance, even if you’ve never smelled Envy. Nice one, Alexandria.

Never smelled the original but this reminds me of a more wearable and lighter Dangerzone by alexandria fragrances. Masculine, a little bit of a throwback and sexy in it's own way.

Invidia was the scent that got me to try Alexandria Fragrance's rabbit hole. And boy did I fall down that good. Gucci Envy for men is very intriguing to me and this was listed as a "clone" of it. I don't know how truly close it is though it smells close to the EAD clone of Envy for Men, Enthrall. Note wise, it has a good number of the notes and it does smell mature, but I can tell you what it does smell like. Alexandria Fragrances Invidia is a oriental woody Stetson with a tobacco accord that I find in Tom Ford for Men. I say accord, because tobacco isn't a listed note. That said, it isn't smoky like is a trademark of Gucci Envy according to most reviews. Invidia has a spicy floral accord structure fairly similar to Stetson. In Stetson it is jasmine, lavender and carnation while Invidia has jasmine, lavender and rose. Rose and carnation give off a similar spicy floral smell but unlike most rose notes, Invidia's work with me. The rose note on this surprisingly works with me. So maybe it is more on the carnation side than rose. Invidia is very much a fall/winter scent, maybe even spring too but not so much for Arizona where spring is basically summer in most places in central, unless you get a cold snap. It works dressed up and as a work scent. Could it work as a date scent, maybe but not with younger girls. They might just think it is a dad scent especially if their father wore Envy, unless they are into that. Day and night wear is possible since it isn't too strong or too light. Performance is pretty good if you use it off the bat, but as it sits longer and maturate, the scent gets better performance wise. I never heard of maturation until after I got this, especially with extraits. This needs it if you want 8+ hours, but it isn't as needed like many say most Alexandria Fragrances do. This was confirmed by another owner on a Facebook group dedicated to the house. The fragrance projects pretty good either way. Invidia is a damn near love. I can't say it is a love since it performs about as good as I get out of Stetson with an added tobacco vibe. Tom Ford for Men I can get five to six hours so this outperforms that one by enough. For this I rate Invidia 7.8 out of 10. This was my gateway drug to Alexandria and they do put out great stuff, but this is slightly not there. That said, it is a nice pick-up and a bit under the radar for the house.

Can't say I'm too familiar with Envy, but this is an incredibly good woody scent. If Envy was anything like this, I'm not sure why they'd discontinue it. This does lean a bit mature, IMO. I'm sure my co-workers will tell me I smell like an old man... But they say that about every wood scent. Update: I really wish the opening ginger would stick around for longer. It becomes very dry... Maybe somewhat powdery, but mostly just dry and woody. Smells dated, but good. I might try it again in the Fall, or gift it to my father who has commented on it positively a few times.

Pretty disappointed with this. I cannot tell you how it compares to Envy, for I never tried Envy. Upon application, I could barely pick up much. I mild blend of ginger and lavender. Nothing to write home about...very meh. The dry down allowed it to come more to life with a bit more projection, but it remained a skin scent. Dry down was woodsy, but nothing special. Longevity was average...projection was below average. I enjoy many AFs, but this one fell flat and I can not recommend even trying it.

Yes, they are similar BUT only similar, Invidia is not a clone of Gucci Envy wich I adore. Openings are completely different, but in heart notes they share slightly similar notes, Invidia is spicy, there is no incense wich gives Envy its power and strength. Invidia is inspired by Envy, but it never will be.
