La Dolce Vita

I never had the pleasure of experiencing the original formulation of D&G Pour Homme. I did have the unfortunate experience of trying the reformulated made in UK version, which I quickly traded away. It reminded me of a cheap shampoo and became annoying with its sharp edges and fuzzy drydown. In reading the good reviews for AF’s version, I decided to give it a try. This is much smoother, deeper, and better blended than the current D&G offering. No rough edges, no Proctor and Gamble-level shampoo vibes. This is truly a case where the clone is better than what the original house is offering. If you can find the vintage 1994 release, go for it. If you miss it and don’t want to pay the premium, skip the current formulation and get this.

If this was a mass market release it would be Dolce&Gabbana pour Homme (1994 Italy) Intenso. Hany's juice takes the best parts of the original and amps them up to a beastly extrait. It smells richer & deeper. It lasts longer. It projects better. If Dolce&Gabbana pour Homme (1994 Italy) is a classic (and it is) then Alexandria's La Dolce Vita is a masterpiece. I love the original, but I reach for the Alexandria more often.

I was on the fence about this one with so few reviews and having not tried any of the batches of the original D&G inspiration, but after purchasing the travel size this is my most complimented fragrance and one that I find surprisingly versatile for a fragrance described with the usual "intoxicating" language. Big recommend, very pleased

This is spot on. La Dolche Vita fixes what is the only weak point with the otherwise amazing D&G pour homme: longevity. It lasts a full working day and that's all I ask from my fragrances. Love it !

I've been looking for the D&G 1994 vintage for a while but hesitated spending $100 for a bottle on Ebay. I can't compare the vintage with this Alexandria edition but I can tell you that this perfume is very, very nice. Where other fragrances go on like a veil of scent, this extract feels like a woolen cloak of fragrance right out of the bottle. It is thick and lush and rich. For me it opens with a blast of rich mandarin and neroli and that develops into the lavender and herbal/spicy mid notes. Tobacco comes up early and teams up with the tonka for a sweet earthy base for the remainder of the ride. I'm looking for the cedar and or sandalwood to show up, but the tobacco is front and center for now. La Dolce Vita is performing beautifully during the cold months. I might hesitate using it, or use a very light touch, when the weather gets warmer. Sillage is well mannered and this stuff lasts allllllll day. I'm really pleased I got my hands on a bottle of this. I recently acquired La Dolce Vita, a clone of the fabulous but unfortunately poorly reformulated Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme. I did get a sort of funky alcoholic/synthetic vibe on the first spray of La dolce vita, but as many of the members state, it will take a few weeks to settle down. The longevity is great at 9 hours but the sillage is moderate, however it completely outpaces the D&G for men bottles available nowadays in terms of performance!

Got myself a Travel spray because I'd read that this a really good recreation. All I gotta say is... Wow. It IS just like the original D&G Homme. Spot on!

When I first met my ex, he was wearing some cheap cologne from Avon because his mom gave it to him. I asked him to wear the original D&G Homme, which he loved, and made it his signature scent. I gifted him several bottles through the years, so I remember it well. Everywhere we went, he got a lot of compliments on it. These days, it's so hard to find a bottle of the original formula, and my ex is long gone. I read the reviews and bought this for a co-worker who is getting married next month. He's not a guy who normally wears fragrance, but I thought it would be nice for his special occasion. It's spot on! It's actually better than the original because it's less expensive and lasts a lot longer!
