Megatron

The fragrance notes here for Megatron are lacking. 😄 So I'm adding my own, in addition to reviewing. • Calone is the dominant note. To some people, calone smells like airy, aquatic watermelon. Other people experience it as sea-brine adjacent -- others, submechanophobia at Cthulu's autopsy. I get watermelon. • Ambroxan is the second most prominent note—so strong I could literally taste the bitter soapiness of it for half an hour. Some people love Ambroxan-heavy fragrances like this and Dior Sauvage. To me, it's too much Ambroxan, but after enough of it diffuses away, I get the nice amber note. It might also last for literally ever on anything you spray it on, so stick to skin if you don't want your clothes or upholstery smelling forever of Ambroxan. • Grapefruit and/or Bergamot are present in the opening, disappear under the Ambroxan for a while, and then reappear after drydown. The citrus is pleasantly warm and grounded and lasts several hours combined well with the woody note. • Cedar is the specific woody note I detect in this. Goes great with the citrus -- but they sit closer to the body. Strangely, these warm, grounded notes seem to exist in an entirely separate atmosphere from the cool, airy watermelon calone -- like earth and clouds, nothing holding them together -- and not in a good way to me. Like Megatron is two separate fragrances that don't belong together. And the Ambroxan is just also kinda sitting beside them, not really blending in. Maybe this wouldn't be the case if calone instead smelled to me like sea breeze. Oh well. • Powderiness is subtle to me, not prominent. • Spicy Notes? Hmm... I don't get any actual spice from this fragrance at all, but maybe others do. Anyway, final notes and warnings: 10/10 Projection. Nuclear, constant projection and sillage -- mostly the calone. Half a spray will instantly fill whatever space you're in and linger after you leave. So use with caution. Even half a spray might be too much depending on whether there's an open window or not. 10/10 Longevity. Lasts for days, maybe longer -- especially on fabric. Resistant to being washed off. And the calone is strong and constant . So it doesn't just cause nose fatigue, it made me desperate for a breath that wasn't saturated with calone and Ambroxan. Not work appropriate, and generally not appropriate because of its strength and highly polarizing profile. Some people may find it repellent, nauseating, and even disturbing or suffocating. So probably a pretty accurate dupe for Megamare, hahaha (which I unfortunately haven't tried yet). Spray with caution! Maybe just wear Megatron when you go to the beach.
