Rose Noir

The skinny: In my opinion the opening is about 80% similar to Lyric Man. After 5 minutes, 85% similar. After about 20-30 minutes they reach about a 90% or 95% similarity. Full review below. The opening is definitely greener than Lyric Man's--maybe the galbanum or another green aroma chemical was dosed slightly higher here than in Lyric's. Its opening feels slightly more synthetic than Lyric's, but this is slight. As someone mentioned, Lyric Man feels a little fuller at first but after testing on my arms side by side and on garments they get closer and closer as time goes on. I'd say, after about 5-10 minutes there are only shades of difference. Putting a number on it, I'd access it as a 85% similarity, as a conservative estimate. Lyric Man starts to feel softer, more effervescent, cotton-like if that makes sense, whereas Rose Noir still feels just a tad greener. I'd bet that Lyric Man has just slightly more jasmine-like aroma chemicals, giving it a tad more of an effervescent, lighter feel on skin. Lyric Man has a lighter, cleaner (nice soft shampoo) vibe. At times, Lyric Man can feel like a soda pop if you dig your nose up close. And while Rose Noir is more white floral, the green notes add a darker aspect to it so it doesn't lean too fem, in my opinion. After about 30 minutes, they smell even more similar; I'd give them a 90% similarity, possibly 95% if someone is smelling it in the air. Rose Noir just doesn't have the exact light shampoo cleanness, and soda pop effervescence, and it's slightly greener. But I'm being super picky, I know. On clothes, it is so difficult to tell them apart. Finally, they're not identical twins but they're fraternal twins of the same gender that are difficult to tell apart. Hope this review helped, and yes I'm going to buy a full bottle of this.

I could only detect a small difference between this and lyric man in the opening but after about one minute they are to my nose the same, the projection is very good and it does garner good comments and leaves a nice trail. I also believe that will grow stronger as my bottle was a fresh batch and in this aspect I guess the performance will even grow stronger. Well done Alexandria and well done Hany Hafez...

I tried Lyric Man in store the day before trying a sample of this. From memory they smell similar. Both are a clean soapy rose smell. I don't like the scent profile enough to pay for Lyric Man. Even though it's not something I'd pay full price for I think it's a really good scent.

Too many petals—too few thorns. First impression: The only thing about this that smells synthetic to me is the initial blast; after that, it smells very close to natural and performs well. The florals in the opening mix with the citrus, creating a tart accord that could be mistaken for green apple. The rose is more dominant that I would like, upstaging all of the base notes for me; ultimately making this fragrance lean more mature-feminine than unisex. It reminds me of a wealthy grandmother's soap—really wish the incense and musk were amped up more in the opening to give it a "noir" dimension—I can't find one and I'm disappointed. It does smell quite expensive and classy, but I'm surprised it's an impression of a popular fragrance for men. I think trying to make this DNA appeal to both men and women had the primary effect of making it less appealing to men. I could be wrong, but I doubt very many women bought this. 7.3/10. Hopefully it grows on me.

I personally was really excited to try a new rose scented fragrance. I have not smelled lyric man so I cannot compare. However this tends to lead very feminine for me and I was ok with Cartier Declaration D’Un Soir. This however compared with that is a powdery rose, vs a more manly rose. I do like it, however for me personally I won’t be keeping it. I do think it’ll be a nice gift for a female. Edit. So they were kind enough to send me a decant of an impression of blue de channel called bleu memoir. I had sprayed bleu memoir in my upper arm area and when I started sniffing rose noir again. All of sudden it smelled amazing, the mixing of the two fragrances resulted in a very manly rose scent. I think I’m going to keep this scent and layer it to give my fragrance a slight rose appeal. Also once it drys down and loses some of that powdery rose it can be more uni sex as it smells more like fresh picked roses.

In all honesty it’s not actually as “Noir” as Amouage Lyric Man, which is a little bit darker and heavier, so Rose Noir has less of a masculine vibe, as though AF have tried to create a more unisex version with slightly lighter base notes. That said, it’s still a very beautiful rose fragrance and the more unisex approach, coupled with the much lower price should give it a broader appeal. Recommended for rose lovers of all genders.

This is a beautiful rose scent. It's dark, mature, romantic, a bit mysterious as well as alluring. This is another perfect date scent, one of those go to cuddle scents. Upon smelling it you'll get a masculine rose, there's woodiness and some citrus but that works in collaboration perfectly with the rose and spices. Performance is impresssiv, seems like every fragrance from this house is a performance master. You'll get hours of longevitity as well as projection, people will smell you and notice you.

Going by memory, the second I sprayed this I was instantly reminded of lyric man. Very close to the original going by memory but memory can trick, so I will test a decant I have of lyric man and rose noir and compare. I will update this comment once I have a better grasp of both.

Spot on Amouage Lyric man ... lasts all day ! Buy ONLY & ONLY if you like Rose Water Smell , this smells what Rose Flower Smells like . 9/10 for me
